Mitsuko was just finishing unpacking as the announcement began to play. She'd taken the time to carefully fold and arrange her clothing, trying to take up as little space in the room as possible. She was imposing on the original occupant, after all. Mitsuko froze as she carefully listened to the orders. "...oh dear..."

She changed into her Working Uniform as quickly as she could, carefully stowing the clothes she'd just removed. Hopefully the armor and weapons she'd been assigned were in their proper place. She hadn't really had time to check the Armory yet. Mitsuko zipped through the corridors of the ship on her way to catch up with the rest of the crew. She had hoped to get settled properly before being sent off into danger. She hadn't even met the rest of the crew yet! At least she knew their names, but not what to expect when she made it to the Power Armor Bay.

She was going to spent a bit fumbling around, locating her assigned armor and weaponry. At least she knew Sune by now, and could report to him easily enough. If she didn't waste too much time getting ready.

Understood Sir

Bors radioed back via his communicator as he lightly jogged back to the armory to grab the explosives. Once inside he grabbed Three T31SC's, four T31PE's,four delays and four remote detonators. As he placed them in his pack he scanned the weapons rack figuring he'd grab the Xaser again, after all it did him well last mission, but he decided against it settling for the Atromos Particle Beam Rifle with the Dresde Under-Slung Grenade Launcher instead. Putting a few extra grenades on his belt, Bors made his way back to the Shuttle Bay and resumed his spot next to Akemi doing a quick check to make sure everything was in place and in working order.

Got it, Sune-Shosa! replied Konoka, grabbing her medical kit and darting to get herself in armor.

When she was all armored up, she went to stand by Sune in the Shuttle Bay and smiled, feeling anxious to begin. She noticed Bors standing not far away. "We meet again," she smiled. "Looks like you're on my team, Riko-Hei."
She noticed the new girl was, too-Natsumi. She wondered where she was. It would be nice to see her again, since they'd met only briefly. She'd heard another newbie had come aboard, too. She wished she'd had time to welcome her. The mission had started too quickly for that. But then, Konoka's own first day of work had started even quicker. The first person to welcome HER aboard was the man she'd brought back from the dead. That's the Eucharis for you, she thought. But I'm excited about this mission! It'll be good to take the fight to those evil squids for once. If I don't die this time, that is....

As the Eucharis teams assembled and boarded their shuttles, they had to squeeze against the infantry teams waiting inside. The bare interiors of the shuttles were obscured by the sea of standing Nekovalkyrja wearing power armor, bodies pressed against each other with zero room for modesty. Some of the nekos had their helmets off, revealing pretty and anxious young faces. These green freshly-cloned nekos would face their first mission today. It was a grim affair.

If the first team failed, the station attack would be futile. If the other failed, they would be unable to escape and it would be a suicide mission. If the teams were spotted too soon, the NMX hordes would converge and leave them dead or worse, tortured or enslaved or ground into dog food. If the reactor was destroyed instead of overloading, the Nest would merely run on backup generators. This was a one-shot chance to hit the Mishhuvurthyar that would never come again. All of these things Hanako calmly and seriously reminded the teams as they boarded the shuttles. "There are about five Eucharis crew on each team who are coordinating the operation, so each person will get about ten infantry escorting her," Hanako also told them. "They are going to try to keep you alive."

Natsumi had just completed her memory backup when the orders came through for the away team assignments. She had been surprised her name was on the list. While she was bridge crew there was always the possibility she would be needed for an away mission, she just had not expected it to come on day one!

She had quickly gone to the power armor bay and suited up in her assigned armor. This was the first time she had worn armor since training, the first time she would be in armor and possibly getting shot at. That thought was not comforting.

Now Natsumi stood, crammed into the shuttle with the rest of Team 1 and its Infantry compliment. Space was very very cramped, but she had spotted Konoka in her team and was glad someone she already knew was going to be there.

Taking a deep breath as she cradled her helmet, Natsumi waited for takeoff

Shuttle bay

After finishing his loadout, Takeyu headed into the shuttle bay where he stood beside the shuttle and watched the rest of the team. He was hoping that this mission wouldn't turn out like the last with people dying, but then, he'd try and ensure that didn't happen.

When he saw their medic, a smile appeared on his face. He hadn't had time to really talk to her, to see what she'd been up to, their bubbly medic was something he had missed even if he had only known for a short period of time before hand.

Shuttle 2

Murakami was looking even paler than usual after Hanako's parting words. She wasn't bothering with her tinted glasses, leaving her bright eyes to add to the contrast of pale skin and dark hair. Her helmet was clutched tight to her stomach as she tried her best not to fidget, squashed between rowdy infantry members. Mitsuko didn't know the Eucharis crew well enough to even attempt to pick them out of the sea of unfamiliar faces.

Her armor was still programmed and loaded with nothing but the default options. She hadn't had the time to familiarize herself enough to have any preferences in this situation. Mitsuko had nothing but the standard supplies and rifle assigned to her. Honestly, she was hoping the small army they were bringing along would be able to handle most of the serious combat. If she paid attention and didn't get in anyone's way, maybe she wouldn't embarrass herself. She wasn't sure what she had to contribute in this situation, but she was too fresh to do anything but follow orders and do her best.

Bridge

After setting all of the necessary systems to Condition Two, Ramiro called Blackberry to cover for him in his absence and then secured his system. Bowing to the Shosho on his way out, Ramiro exited the bridge and head for the armor bay.

Power Armor Bay

Ramiro jogged into the bay and immediately suited up, making sure to pack his armor full of shield modules, as he usually did. Once his armor was secure and he was fully equipped, he grabbed one of the last remaining Ke-M2-W2913s and headed into the shuttle bay.

Shuttle Bay

Once Ramiro was in the Shuttle Bay he located the shuttle that had been specified for his team and jogged over. Seeing Takeyue, he stopped and bowed to the officer before jogging up into the shuttle and taking a seat.

Shuttle 2

Akemi held her helmet close to her abdomen and looked at the other soldiers nearest to her that weren't wearing theirs either. She smiled warmly at each of them and introduced herself in a friendly tone. She also tried to find something she genuinely liked about the face of each one and complimented them. "Let's just try to focus on what we need to do instead of thinking about what ifs." Akemi hoped she could lighten their spirits a little after the grim reminders they were given. After addressing them and any others that might decide to introduce themselves, she looked for Helen and gave the woman her full attention assuming she was already aboard.

Shuttle Bay

"So it appears we are Doc, hopefully this mission goes a little more smoothly than the last one though unfortunately I have a weird feeling that you might be a bit busier with all the extra infantry we have" Bors said before giving her a hearty pat on the shoulder for reassurance "But I'm sure you’ll do fine."

Shuttle 1

Bors somehow managed to squeeze himself into a seat on his designated shuttle, crammed between two nekos whom Bors could tell were nervous. Bors leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees and fished his E-cig out from within his gear and put it in his mouth taking a short puff.

"Hey, Trooper" Bors said to the Neko to his right over his shoulder, "Try to relax a bit your starting to make me nervous." Giving a little chuckle he gave the neko a friendly punch in the shoulder "Just follow your training and you'll do fine."

Hopefully I calmed at least one down, cant have them all jumpy and shooting anything that moves Bors thought reclining in his seat as much as he could and closed his eyes trying to sneak in a quick nap before the mission got underway

Power Armor Bay

After her mental back up was complete Misato went done to the PA bay and started getting her armor fitted out to her. She worked with the built in AI to help change the setting to fit the profile of what she thought was the best after the last mission. The AI was helpful; when she was finished she grabbed the same semi-beat up Ke-M2-W2913, which she used on the last mission. I saw her through the last mission and didn’t give up on her, so she wasn’t going to give up on it. Taking a few moments to make sure it was still functional at pick performance, without fixing any dents or scratches that didn’t affect use.

As she was finishing up her work the Sho’Sho’ made her announcement, so she put on her armor, and proceeded to the Hanger bay and boarded the second shuttle. She grabbed a seat towards to rear near the main hatch and sat back.

Shuttle 2

Mitsuko was surprised when Akemi began introducing herself. She noticed her rank and tried to bow, but was wedged too tight. She couldn't move her helmet out of the way for a proper bow anyways, and holding it also kept her from saluting. Murakami blushed, embarrassed as she squirmed around, settling for a few rapid nods. She stammered her way through her own introduction, before Akemi's attention was diverted.

Shuttle 1

Sune looked at Takeyu, "In this mission, more is probably better. I would also strongly suggest that you grab a bunch of the Type 31 Det-Cord. We may need to cut through bulkheads as we go." He said to his friend the junior officer.

He looked around the shuttle, the anxious faces of the Nekos caught his attention. They were clearly nervous, and combined with inexperience he realized he needed to do something to bolster their courage.

"Listen up." He said in loud commanding tone. He waited a moment for silence to move through the shuttle.

"I know you are nervous. Every soldier is their first time into battle. There is nothing wrong with being a little afraid, I would be more concerned if you were not. It is what you do with that fear. Use it to keep you sharp, and alert.

Remember your training, you have the tools you need to get the job done. Right now there is no Infantry and Ship soldiers. We all soldiers working together. And together is how we will survive this engagement.

Our plan is to breach the station in a cargo hold or other low traffic place. First squad will enter the station with me and secure the entry point. Then we will transfer from the shuttle into the compartment. Squads one through five will then move forward in rotation as we make our way to the main reactor. Rules of engagement, you see an enemy take them out before they can sound the alarm.

Our objective is to get that reactor our engineer will determine what we need to do to damage it so that it will overload. One way or another that station will be expanding gasses when we are done.

While we do this the other team is going after a ship. If they are successful we will then make our way to that ship and exit. If they are unsuccessful we will fall back to the shuttle.

Sixth squad you will stay in the compartment and keep the shuttle secure. You are our contingency means of getting off the station.

Today, we are going to show the NMX just what the Star Army of Yamatai is about. Today, we will give them payback for those who have fallen in their quest for conquest. We are going to kick them in the teeth and pull their fangs.

One other thing, we leave no one behind. We move as a group, we leave as a group. I will be damned if any of these cursed squids will dine on any of fellow soldiers.

So show me you are ready to take the battle to our enemy."

He then began singing the Anthem in a loud and powerful voice. "Let the moments of our future...."

Konoka smiled and couldn't help but join Sune in singing the anthem of Yamatai, "Be greater than those passed;
And the reign of our great empire,
Stand strong and always last."
They really did have a big chance to do something great here, to help their great empire. Konoka loved helping, and Sune's speech had really impressed her. She'd been nervous about the mission's potential mortality rate, but as she kept singing,

" Our hearts and minds will long prevail,
And keep its spirit true;
A million stars forever ours,
And we’ll do it all for you."
....she knew it was worth it. She really wanted to help stop the NMX, and was glad she'd be there to help any of the infantry personnel who got hurt. It was what she was there for! She smiled at the rest of her team and sang the final verse:

"Our strength and wisdom put to use,
Like nothing ever seen,
The power we will not abuse,
Defending peace serene."
The words had been invented by HER Shosho, and they said it all. Her team would be like nothing ever seen- it had to be one of the biggest taskforces ever! Now she was truly excited to take on the Nest.
Nice speech, she told Sune telepathically.

Now they were really ready!

Once everyone was crammed into the overfilled shuttles, their rear doors were closed and the shuttle bay was cleared and opened to space. After Shuttle 1 was launched, it waited for Shuttle 2 to make the precarious turn inside the tiny shuttlebay so it could face the door. Once free, it joined the other shuttle, engines burning in the Eucharis' shadow and then drifting towards the nest with them switched off to decrease the likelihood of detection. Tense moments passed as the shuttles grew closer to the target.

Once Sune was done, Takeyu made a quick rush back into the armory to pick up more explosives and more det-cord, then ran back and boarded the same shuttle as Sune and gave the officer a thumbs up in the process.

Shuttle 1

After they had launched, Takeyu remained silent, not saying a word, but keeping an eye on the cockpit in case anything happened.

Shuttle 1

Natsumi took a deep breath as shuttle one took off. Sune's speech and song had been enough to help calm her nerves and she had joined her fellow Nekovalkyrja in singing the Anthem.

She knew that the work ahead was more important than her own life and if dictated it was her time, she would gladly sacrifice herself for the good of her fellow crew mates and the Yamatai Star Empire. She had been created to fight for the Empire and defend its people.

Yamashiro Natsumi-Hei smiled, knowing what she was about to take part in, what all of them were about to do would save countless lives in the end if they were successful. yes she was scared, but she was being put to her purpose now and that helped set her mind at ease.

Shuttle 2

When Ramiro felt the shuttle begin to move he perked his head up and flicked his eyes back and forth, scanning the soldiers within the shuttle through the visor on his helmet.

"Heads up and sensors on," he called out. "Double-check that all equipment is secure, make sure that you are combat ready." He then began to look around at random soldiers that he picked out, using his sensors to scan their suit equipment in order to make sure that everyone was ready.

Wondering if there was anything specific that was expected of them, or if there was a general plan at all, he sent a message to Helen.

TO: Klein-Shosa
FROM: Valencia-Juni

Ma'am, is there anything specific you require of us to prep for this mission? We don't want the soldiers simply sitting here with nothing but their own thoughts because that will only lead to them worrying too much and scaring themselves. I await your orders.

Shuttle 1

Somehow they made it! The young neko soldiers seemed reassured after the song and now that they were there and not dead, they were confidently donning their helmets and double-checking their weapons.

As the shuttles approached the hull of the massive station, the dark curves of its hull seemed to go on forever. The shuttles slowed and rotated around to put the back ends and their strike modules towards the hull. There was a delay as the shuttles drifted over the hull.

Juni Signe turned to Sune. "Where is the best place to breach the hull? The main reactor is more near the center but that's also where their main sensors are, which might see us. How about this section up ahead? The power levels are low there so it is probably vacant."

"How do we use this?" the pilot quietly grumbled, looking up the Strike Module's manual.

Sune looked at the sensor data. "Avoid the high energy areas. A spot in a low power area will be fine. Low power means its either a secondary area or a place where there is no need for people and less likely to have internal sensors.

The Dageki module is mostly automatic. When we get near the target point, bring us to a halt, rotate and approach on thrusters. Once we get to 1 meter the module will extend the docking legs and attach to the hull. Then you can signal the unit to begin the cutting process." Sune replied to Juni Signe.

Sune turned to the soldiers in the shuttle. "We will be breaching shortly. Seal up your suit and weapons in safe mode." he said in a loud voice before closing his own helmet.

"First squad stand and get ready to move when we have a breach." he said through the suit's communications.
