Cargo Bay
"...it wobbled again. That box...um...maybe there are more chickens inside?"

Misato was standing at the mouth to the cargo bay watching to crew wonder about, when she heard Mitsuko mentioning the box. It piked her interest. She walked down to the end of the ramp and moved to where Mitsuko pointed out. She nudged the box a few times with the tip of her Mindy's boot. The box sat there silently for a moment before moving again. Puzzled, Suzume put on her helmet and switched it over to infrared scanning. The box was putting off heat, allot more then a few chickens should.

She swung her sub-machine gun off her shoulder and aimed with her right hand, wale she reaching for the box. She was praying that it wasn't an NMX hidden within it, with hopes that the crew would just load the box with out thought. She flipped the lid open and stepped back waiting for what ever within to show itself.

For a moment Tomomi thought she might have overstepped some line when she confronted the newcomer. But the slight worry vanished when Takeyu confirmed what she said. She was a bit curious why she got the cold shoulder from the him though. Usually she got some kind of reaction from the person she talked to.

She just shrugged to herself when she watched him float away. Tomomi wasn't entirely sure where the science scanners were located since the ship's inventory doesn't seem to list them. She just figured she must have overlooked them when Jonathan announced he was bringing some he found with him.

Once he returned to the group, Tomomi grabbed one and it's attachments from the buttpack. She placed them within her own buttpack since there was no other place to store them. Once everything was secure, she gave a thumbs up.

"Maybe, if we find out the name of the ship you can check," Takeyu placed his gloved hand on Bor's shoulder and then looked over at the ship.

Then he glanced at Tomomi and then at Jonathan when the man showed them the scanners. "Thank you Hei," he said and accepted the scanner and it's modules and double checked to make sure it was working.

Natsumi accepted one of the science scanners from Jonathan as well, checking it, then stowing it in her pack. She was glad to see several others joining the expedition group as well, especially her roomie, Bors.

She eyed the wrecked starship once more, itching to explore it and see what was inside

Reika felt a mixture of curiousity and concern in regards to the downed Ayana-class starship -- there was no telling what hazards might be lying in wait aboard the escort to threaten the party venturing aboard. As a precaution, having additional firepower at hand if things went wrong was probably a good idea. Once she had retrieved her chosen items from out of the opened cargo containers, Reika followed Helen into the Eucharis' armor bay.

"I'm going to quickly stow these items in my cabin, Shosa. " the neko said to Helen as she passed her by. "I'll be right back to suit up myself."

Reika quickly progressed through the gunship, dropped off the items she had selected and then turned about and made for the armor bay once again.

Eucharis Armor Bay

As the others had, Reika went through the process of attiring herself in a suit of power armor -- specifically her usual Daisy. She also obtained her sniper variant LASR from the store of available weapons, before making her way back to the surface of UX-11.

"It's not that important Shoi," Bors said wiping some of the mist off his face, "Also judging from the condition, be surprised if they're still alive. Any who I didn't leave Neplesia on the best of terms so I doubt anyone I know will be happy to see me." Bors laughed at the last bit of information before noticing that there was a new face among them.

might as well introduce myself he thought before walking over to Jonathan, "Nice to see a new face on board, infantry to eh? Anyways I'm Bors."

Now that Chania and Sophia were peacefully eating and resting, Konoka figured she could leave them by themselves for awhile. Before she left, however, she contacted Cherry and asked her to watch the girls for security purposes. Not that she was all that worried, of course, but certain protocols had to be followed. With that taken care of, she headed back outside to rejoin the group.

"Anyone need any help with anything out here?"
Konoka called cheerily.
Then, she spotted Jonathan. "Ooh! A new person!" she smiled with delight, and rushed over to him.
"Hi!" she said to Jonathan. "I'm Konoka Miyazawa! I'm the medic here! Welcome to the Eucharis! What's your name? Is this your first assignment? Whatcha doing? Can I help? It's SO nice to meet you!"
She couldn't stop grinning. She hadn't done a nice "welcome ambush" in awhile...

Sune while he had no immediate plan to join Takeyu's expedition to explore the UOC craft. Felt it was prudent to suit up. In the event that something unforeseen should arise, he would be in a better position to respond.

He entered the power armor bay, and sent a request to Charisma to prepare his armor for operation. He replaced the dorsal module with a Ke-M2-E3000 Leader Support Pack. That way he could monitor the status of the team.

He removed his NSP and stored it and his other belt items. He put a type 31 science scanner in the armor's pack and then stepped into the armor. After completing system diagnostics he started walking out while uploading his preferences to the armor.

He turned first to Takeyu. "You are welcome, Shoi."

Jonathan seemed unperturbed by the sudden, enthusiastic verbal assault by the medic, and faced her as the barrage was unleashed. His answers were terse, as was his way, and in the order in which the questions were presented.

"I am Santô Hei DarkSky Jonathan, Infantry," he began, with a nod to Bors before continuing. "This is my first assignment. Preparing to investigate the damaged starship. Ask Shoi Nayacesen if he requires your specialties for this operation."

The mannerisms of the newcomer started to make Tomomi wonder how they came to be. Especially considering how cool he was towards the resident social maniac of a medic. Konoka always gets a reaction, even if it is a stand offish smile and a look. But those thoughts soon gave way when Tomomi begun to wonder why the AIES cannot function as a science scanner.

She pulled out the scanner again and looked it over in order to make sure it worked. But she also did it as cover to look it over in more detail. "Looks like a project to pursue." Tomomi thought to herself as she placed it back into the buttpack.

Hanako returned to the ship and began preparations for liftoff. The Eucharis' gravity fields hummed and her engines glowed with teal energy and orange fire. She sent a message for anyone not on the ship investigation team to get back aboard. The ship lifted up about a meter from the ground, with the rear ramp still open, sending Hennessy the chicken running. Hanako frowned as the main viewer focused on the animal, feeling guilty.

Recon Team

Takeyu looked at the team. "Anyone on the Recon Team follow me, we are boarding the Ayana and beginning our search, keep your eyes open though for anything hostile," said the chief engineer as he made his way toward the ship to look for an entry way, he figured that in its current state the best areas would either be the cargo-hold or the armor bay. He sent some drones ahead to investigate.

Natsumi quickly fell into step with Takeyu as they started for the Ayana class hulk. She deployed her drones as well to aid in the initial scouting. She was excited to explore the derelict ship, but knew she needed to push that excitement aside and focus. Even though it was abandoned there were still possible dangers ahead.

Recon Team

Jonathan likewise fell in behind Takeyu, taking a position to the Shoi's left and a pace or two behind. Sensors active, he kept a look-out for anything suspicious, or otherwise remarkable. He kept his NSDs in their hanger bays, as two others had already deployed theirs.

Sune upon hearing Hanako's order to return to the ship, jumped off he container he was on and reentered the ship via the power armor bay. He stowed his armor leaving the configuration in place. After retrieving the items he placed in the butt pack he made his way to the bridge.

His armor secured he entered the passageways of the Eucharis heading for the bridge. He was puzzled why she was already moving the ship, when they still had no idea of the status of the UOC craft. So to his way of thinking it was premature to be moving the ship, and if something happened to the recon team, it would delay the response to a call for assistance.

He entered the bridge, "Good Day Shôshô. why are we preparing for launch when we are still investigating the UOC craft?" He inquired as he took a seat at the Mission Ops station so that he could monitor the progress of the Away Team.

Recon Team

"I'll let you lead this venture Takeyu, I'm coming along to provide technical insights that I'm aware of, as well as possible assistance with what intelligence I've managed to gather about the ship class." Helen spoke, making it clear that Takeyu would have authority over the team. "However, if the situation progresses beyond a mere salvage job, let me know if you need some senior assistance." Helen added, via encrypted telepathy between her and Takeyu, to keep his role of authority over the team seeming rather iron clad. With that message sent, she followed along with the team, keeping close Takeyu to keep him covered in the event of anything catastrophic happening.

As Helen moved with the group, she looked back to the Eucharis as it lifted off, curious as to what Hanako was up to. Though, she did not dwell on it much, as she put her mind to the job at hand, even as she saw Hennessy make a dash away from the ship. Maybe I'll ask Hanako for a minute to plant some seeds, and to leave a few other chickens behind... was her last thought on the matter, before her heart and soul practically chilled as she focused on the ship ahead of her and what could be inside.

Bors took up the rear of the team playing the part of rearguard, something he enjoyed because of the simplicity of the role. As the Eucharis took off he turned around to watch it go while simultaneously stowing his Ecig and putting on his helmet.

"Hate to sound pessimistic" Bors said staring at the ship looming in front of the team "But do you really think we can get anything useful out of that hunk of lead? Looks shot to hell and pretty lifeless to me."

A scene from a movie he once saw flashed through Bors's mind, where several Nepleslian Marines were stranded on a derelict vessel thought to be lifeless, only to be killed off by an alien that was undetected on the ship.

"Then again I could be wrong" he said checking his weapons with a grin of excitement spreading underneath his mask, "could still have some squids or what not on it."

Takeyu and Natsumi’s drones were able to inspect all the access hatches to the ship and found the cruiser had been sealed, presumably by the delivery people that left it sitting on the rocky (and now wet) surface. Additionally, the ship seemed to have no power running through it for the moment. Luckily, there were some escape pod hatches on the upper deck that were open and the inner hatches looked easy enough to open. Johnathan didn’t see any signs of life outside.

“They were taking forever,” Hanako told Sune, making a face. “Besides, I feel a little safer when we are moving,” she said, positioning the ship’s tow winch directly above the nose of the Ayana.

Hanako got on the radio. “Ramiro, once the tow line is attached, see if you can get things ready to load onto the Ayana once it’s cleared.”

Cargo Bay

Mitsuko was surprised when the ship began to rise above the planet's surface. Were they leaving the team behind for now? "I think Misato is still checking out that box..." She mumbled to herself as she held onto a nearby container for support. The Neko stayed well clear of the open ramp, continuing to organize her mental inventory while keeping an eye on the containers both inside and outside of the ship.

Recon Team

"I'm not sure about what we'll find honestly." Helen spoke, as she frowned a little within her helmet. "United Outer Colonies Peacekeepers had a thing about disposing of equipment in a situation which it seemed that there was a risk of enemy capture. More so, if this ship was manned by Lorath personnel." she explained, as she mulled over the matter. "Since the ship looks like it was taken in combat, there is a high chance that they were unable to dispose of equipment... though, I'll be able to tell you more if their MIKO system is still operational, if it will be cooperative, at least."
