Shuttle Pad

Sune returned Hanako's hug his own eyes moistened, but he managed to keep them from flowing. He did not speak while she was hugging him for fear of his own voice betraying him.

Once Hanako stepped back he replied. "I shall bring to the Byakuren all the lessons I have learned aboard the Eucharis under your command. I do not know what to expect aboard the Byakuren, but I do not think it will ever hold the place in my heart that the Eucharis does.

I promise to stay in touch, you take care of yourself Hanako-Chan."

Eucharis Cabin 6

Early in the morning of the new day, Reika awoke and then clothed herself in her formal dress uniform. Afterwards, she began packing the rest of the clothes and other belongings, depositing all her items in both her duffel bag and the luggage carrier she had received as a yuletide gift.

Slinging the duffel bag over her shoulder, Reika paused to stare around the cabin wistfully for a minute, reminiscing about past missions and shared experiences with the rest of the crew. The Eucharis had been her home for more than a year now -- she had lived aboard this warship for more than half her life so far. Leaving would be the single most life-changing event she had experienced since completion of her basic training.

At least I won't be going alone, she thought to herself. Both Konoka and Sune would be familiar faces aboard the YSS Byakuren. Turning around, the neko left the cabin with her luggage carrier in tow, heading for the Ikoi's repair bay. As she was about to step beyond the threshold of the ship's airlock -- Reika bid the Eucharis and Charisma a fond farewell.

Reika saw immediately the T7 shuttle that would take Sune, Konoka and herself to the Byakuren. Already gathered were Hanako, Sune and a number of the other crew. The neko moved to join the goodbye gathering and once she stood before the Shôshô, released hold of the luggage carrier and let her duffel bag rest upon the floor. She bowed deeply, and respectfully addressed Hanako.

"Tachihara Reika, requesting permission to depart the Eucharis, Shôshô."

Shuttle Pad

Hanako gave Reika an affectionate squeeze. "Take care of yourself, Reika."

Once Sune, Reika, and Konoka were aboard, the shuttle ramp door began to close. Hanako waved until it finished, and then made a great leap through the air across the open space to land on top of the Eucharis and opened a hatch there and climbed down through the airlock into the gunship's main passageway.

A warning echoed throughout the Ikoi's repair bay, announcing the air would be removed from the bay in a moment, at which point it would be opened to reveal space near Yamatai. Eucharis would be on the move again.

Hanako went to the bridge and powered up the ship and sent a brief text message to Klein and Darksky: "Rooms are now available you may move out of the portable sleeper module if you like."

Eucharis

Jonathan had declined to participate in the previous evening's extracurricular activities. He had already attended the ceremony (a requirement) and joined the crew for dinner (a courtesy considering the Chief Engineer was picking up the check for them all.) He had filled his 'quota' of being sociable, and therefore retired to his makeshift bunk early. Besides, the 'game' being talked about did not sound particularly savory. Perhaps in the future he would be proven wrong. Perhaps not.

The next morning saw certain members of Eucharis crew departing for other assignments. He felt no desire to bid them farewell; despite his status as a 'crewmate' he had only just come aboard. There hadn't even been a real mission, if one didn't count exploring a wreck that had been picked clean already. The sense of camaraderie was still missing; it would form in time.

When the Captain's text reached him, Jonathan pulled up the current room assignments. Cabin 1 was empty, and 5 and 6 were half occupied. As Chusa Klein would be able to put Cabin 1 to most use given her particular profession, the infantryman discarded that as an option. The Chusa was also next in line for XO, so having her own quarters would make sense. After careful consideration of the potential bunk mates, he highlighted his selection and put it in the system. Satisfied, Jonathan packed his belongings and began the transfer.

There was a bunk in Cabin 5 with his name on it.

Natsumi took her time to say goodbye to Konoka, Reika and Sune, sad to see so many of her new crew mates depart all at once. Once the shuttle had departed, she returned to the Eucharis and her cabin. Removing her dress uniform overcoat and hat she carefully put them away, then departed for the bridge. The ship was going to depart soon and it would be best for her to be at her post.

Ramiro sat atop one of the wings of the Eucharis, watching from a distance. His eyes began to water a bit, but he tightened up his expression and fought back the tears. As he watched the T7 liftoff he broadcast a telepathic message, not caring who heard.

"Although we all knew that this day must come eventually, I had hoped it would not be so soon, and not for the two you.

Sune, although it may surprise those who grew up with a normal childhood, you are my oldest friend. These four years have been some of the greatest of my life, and I am honored to served under you. Since that first day as Hei's, before we even boarded our new home, we were there for each other, we had each other's backs. I will miss you my friend.

Konoka, I have already had to say goodbye to you once, and it breaks my heart to have to do it again. Your bubbly personality will be missed dearly. I still remember the first day you walked onto that ship, tripping over yourself if I recall correctly. You were one of the oddest people I had met, and yet you fit this ship like none that I had ever seen. Take care of yourself.

Reika, although our time together had not been as long as with the other two, and although we did not interact as much as I had hoped, you were a great asset to this crew. The Byakuren will be lucky to have you, but never forget where home is.

Goodbye my friends.

Getting shot at, waking up after a revive, having the things around you blown to bits. These were nothing compared to what he was facing now. Ramiro looked down at the wing he was sitting on, now worried about that day when he would have to leave the Eucharis again. His expression now softened and sad, he made his way back into the ship. Maybe his seat on the bridge would cheer him up, but he highly doubted it.

Walking into the bridge, it did not surprise him to find Hanako there. Rushing to her, he threw himself at her and hugged her.

"I'm going to miss them."

YSS Eucharis

Another day, another morning, and if Helen were still a Nepleslian, it would be another hangover. Instead, she woke up in decent shape, rested, and able to confront the day without cringing. None the less, she went through the motion of starting her day with coffee in the wardroom. Though, as she sat with her coffee, her mind was not occupied with what she was doing, or where she was sitting, but instead her thoughts lingered on a notion which brought a small smile to the corners of her lips. A thought which prompted her to send off a quick message while the time was still right.

Helen Klein said:
Dear Reika,

I send you this message in celebration of your new assignment. In this time which we've had to work together, I have recognized your growth as an operative, soldier, and a person. You are truly a credit to the uniform, and it was a pleasure to serve with you. I wish you well on your new assignment, and I am certain that you will continue to make SAINT proud, just as I am proud to have seen you grow as an operative to carry on the best traditions of the service.

Sincerely,

Chusa Helen Klein

There was a sip of her coffee as she sent out the message. There was enough time for Helen to feel content with the moment, before the Shosho made her return to the ship, and a message was received. "Thank you Shosho, request permission to move into Cabin One." As Helen sent off her message to the Shosho, she finished her coffee, and made her way out of the wardroom to resume her duties.

Shuttle Pad

After completing his farewell with Hanako, Sune stepped back and looked around for Takeyu. Seeing his friend standing a short distance away, Sune walked over and stopped a few feet away. "Good morning Takeyu-San. The gold pins look good on you. There is a good chance that the Shosho will make you her new First Officer, unless she changes the status of Klein-Chusa.

There is a package in my cabin, I would appreciate it if you would see that it gets to your sister Layven."

"Thank you sir, I'll make sure she gets it," said Takeyu. "I hate to see you go, you're the person I looked up to after I came aboard as someone to reach up for, to see you go is something I didn't expect to happen."

"I can honestly say that this was not something I forsaw. I fully expected to remain aboard the Eucharis for the remainder of the war. However this came about last night at the celebration. This assignment is important to the Shosho, which is why I agreed to it." he replied.

"Must be serious then, to have the first officer go. Well, I'm sure the ship you are headed to will be glad to have you.." Takeyu wasn't sure what to say, saying goodbye wasn't exactly something he was accustomed to doing and it left him a bit at a loss.

"So far this mission is more mystery. The ship is an unknown type that is under construction, so we are looking at a prototype going out on a mission straight out of the shipyard." Sune paused and then held out his hand. "I am not good at saying good bye, you have been a good friend, comrade. I will miss you."

"As have you, my sister was hoping to see you once again, but with this new assignment I don't think she'll be able to see you for the time being," Takeyu half smiled. "But, I'm sure she can send you messages every so often," he grabbed Sune's hand. "You stay safe, and always keep an eye out. Also, one thing, I left an item for you, Konoka, and Reika on the shuttle, I hope you'll put it to use."

Sune returned the hand shake, "I am sure I will find a use for it. Unfortunately I did not have time to get any gifts for the folks I am leaving behind. Stay safe, and keep the Eucharis in one piece." he said releasing his grip and walking into the shuttle.

Takeyu gave a bow as he watched Sune step away. Curiously, he was wondering who the Shosho would choose as her new first officer but he felt that no one could really replace Sune.

Cabin 5

Jonathan's cabin assignment request was approved quickly and he was able to get hit things into the small room with Tomomi. His new bed still smelled faintly of Konoka and had a pink hair on the pillow; she had not been able to change the sheets because the transfer was on such short notice. A snowglobe with a miniature YSS Eucharis inside, belonging to Tomomi, was sitting on the desk next to a diary book and a gel pen. On the floor under the desk there were a pair of slippers.

Bridge

"We are departing the starbase. Seal all hatches and assume readiness condition 3," Hanako said over the ship intercom.

As Natsumi arrived on the bridge, Hanako nodded respectfully. "Natsumi, please set course to the Ake system and get us going at maximum speed once we are clear of the station. Also, get me any information you can find in Star Army records about the Occhestans. Do you have access to the Sakura archives?"

When Ramiro came in and hugged Hanako, she hugged him back affectionately. "I will miss them too. Thank you, Ramiro."

The Shosho began removing her black coat. To Helen, she sent: "Permission to move into cabin 1 granted."

Meanwhile, Bors, DarkSky and Suzume got a message from Hanako to prepare for EVA power armor training/scouting exercises.

Bridge

Natsumi nodded as Hanako issued her orders. "Yes, Shosho, plotting a course for the Ake system" she replied, her slim fingers dancing over her console. She brought up the galactic coordinates for the system ,fed them into the navigation computer and calculated the shortest distance rout from their current location to Ake.

"Course for the Ake system plotted, we are clearing from the station." she reported as she maneuvered the Eucharis from the station launch bay and into the inky black of space. The sleek and deadly starship slipped away from the station, gaining distance and clearance to navigate. A smile spread across Natsumi's lips as they began to accelerate, her fingers manipulating the starships throttle, punching them up to full power. She could almost feel the power of the ships engines under her fingertips.

All the time off had been fun and relaxing, but it felt so good to be back in space. With Eucharis to speed and on course she set the ship to autopilot and began requesting the desired files on the Occhestans from Charisma.

"Files on the Occhestans coming up now, Shosho" Natsumi said, "And yes, I believe I can access the Sakura records. Shall I put it up on the main screen for you?"

Good luck you three.. stay safe and don't get into trouble. And Reika, don't ever turn into someone as cold-blooded as the Chusa, thought Takeyu as he was leaving the shuttle pad. After a bit of thinking, Takeyu made a quick trip to Sune's old cabin and found the package quickly enough. He looked it over curiously, but didn't open it and instead took it to his cabin where he would store it until the next time he had a chance to get with Layvin.

While in his cabin he changed out of his formal clothing and into an AMIS to get ready for work, he sighed once, then left his cabin and headed to Engineering.

"Heisho," said the chief engineer as he walked into the engineering bay. "Begin running some simulations on the reactor and taking the reactor beyond recommended safety levels, I wanna know how long we can thoerically it past its specs before we'd run into any major issues," he already knew from training that a ships reactor can be pushed beyond it's recommended specs based entirely off how well it was made but also how old the reactor was at the time of being pushed.

However, he always wanted to be prepared, in case they ever needed to do it. He took a seat at his station and brought one of the displays over to him, where he manipulated it to show the ships current power levels and the status of every system onboard.

Releasing his embrace with Hanako, he started to move towards his station before he noticed that someone was sitting there.

Well this certainly is different, he thought to himself. With another operator on the ship to share the workload with, he was unsure of what to do. He hadn't had another operator with him since Nika, and they had a good system with her on weapons and Ramiro piloting. Choosing a random seat, he just sat back and observed the Hei at work.

YSS Eucharis - Bridge

Having figured that moving her belongings could wait until they were underway, Helen had made her way onto the bridge in time to hear mention of the Occhestians. Her brow quirked as she stepped onto the bridge, stopping to bow to Hanako before she crossed her arms beneath her bust and looked to the main monitor. "Shosho, what is this I heard about Occhestians? Perhaps I could be of service."

Cargo Bay

They should be around here somewhere Bors said rummaging around the bayI swore I saw them put that box on the ship... Before he could continue searching he received the message from Hanako to report for training. "Another day box another day." he said as he started walking towards the power armor bay to suit up, "Another day.."

YSS Eucharis - Bridge

"Correction," Hanako said. "Set course for Ether. We will check in on the Gartagens."

Turning to Helen, she said: "Give me all the information you can on the Occhestians since first contact with Yamatai. I want to find them...to see where they went after the civil war."
