RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 18.2] Into The Night

Shuttle Bay

The small gunship's shuttle bay was relatively small and narrow; the two shuttles inside filled most of it, along with a rolling tool chest. The floor was glossy black and the walls were sterile grays and whites. On one end was the partition between it and the power armor bay and on the other were the large, somewhat dome-like curved doors of hull plating that met at the end of the ship's sharply pointed tail.

Victory walked in and immediately noticed the panel open on the side of the shuttle. "Some sort of problem?" she said, heading into the shuttle. She sat in the pilot's seat and consulted the computer before a moment before determining everything was alright. After a moment she came out looking annoyed and shut the panel. Then she was back in the shuttle, waiting on Misato, Takeyu and Bors.

Bridge

Shosho Hanako tried to be patient as she waited for the away team shuttles to launch. "Natsumi, Ramiro: If you would like to join the away team to HX-24 you are welcome to volunteer." she offered.

Power Armor Bay

Takeyu glanced over his armor, running his hand along the glossy smooth metal with a smile. He was happy that the armor had been repaired, the dents in it from the last mission were pretty much gone and if there were any dents that hadn't been repaired, he couldn't see them.

He slid into the armor, and made a few changes to his loadout. He still used the NSB Launchers, since he favored them for their ability to perform recon. He also picked out a Ke-M2-W2905, Ke-M2-E3000, Ke-M2-W2909 and finally a Butt Pack, which he'd load a few extra items including some water and ration packs.


After he was done sending his message, and had gotten all of his slated equipment, he made his way out of the power armor bay and into the shuttle bay. When he got to the shuttle, he noticed Victory was there but not in power armor and casually walked up to her. "Victory-hei? Can you please outfit yourself in Power Armor? There's no telling what we might encounter on HX-21, thus being in PA is recommended."

Bridge

Natsumi glanced at ramiro, then back at Hanako. She would actually like to go on the away mission, seeing new worlds was exciting. That said though, she had resurvations leaving the Eucharis so short staffed while in an area of space that was potentially hostile.

"Are you sure you don't want us to stay and help run the ship, in case something happens up here while the away team is off ship?"

Medical Center
Conrad excused the two of them from the medbay once his backup was finished. Egil gave a short bow to Sune and followed the big man out. His roommate seemed a bit uneasy for some reason, he walked at a faster pace and seemed to be a bit lost in thought. Jalen-Chusa would’ve certainly mentioned if anything had gone wrong, so that wasn’t it. He’d drop it for now, as they had more important things at hand.

Shuttle Bay

The two quickly changed into their work uniforms and made their way over to the shuttle bay. One shuttle was already prepped and ready to go, its crew making their last equipment adjustments for their journey to HX-21. But if the four of them were going there, who was going to guide them in their first mission?

“Hey-uh Conrad.. Who do you think is supposed to handle our mission? The Chusa?”

Conrad snapped out of this train of thought as Egil started talking to him. He shook his head, and looked at him.

''No clue. Beats me, really...''

Well that was just great. Conrad wouldn't know how to do the things he is now supposed to do without clear instruction from the HX-24 away team leader. The big soldier scratched his head as he looked around.

''Still can't even figure out why we're sending people over to HX-21 when we just got to HX-24. If you ask me, this all stinks, and we haven't even landed yet...''

The big giant looked around, trying to find the place where he could, eventually, get a bigger gun. He had his thoughts on a minigun, possible a plasma shooter, and wondered if they had those types. Step by step, he seemed to decipher the place and would eventually settle on a place to just sit until his team leader would present itself.

Shuttle Bay


Misato stood ready to go, she had a mild case of the shakes, not from fear though, but from the excitement of what might lay ahead. She kept going over her load out checking and rechecking, making sure every thing was in order and functional.

Shuttle Bay

Victory nodded and brought her power armor into the back of the shuttle and strapped it in before getting back in the pilot seat. She saw Misato and Takeyu. "Waiting on you, Bors," she teased on the shuttle's external speakers.

Bridge

"Do not worry, I will still have Ramiro if you go," Hanako reassured Natsumi. "Besides, I think the team to HX-24 may be a little short on team members since the two-person team turned into four. Go ahead."

Shuttle Bay

Bors glared at Victory's shuttle waving her tease away with a swish of his hand. "Unless your the bus to HX-24 Ill pass."

Boarding the other shuttle Bors took an open seat and waited for the mission to get underway.

Bridge

"Ok, thank you, Shosho" Natsumi said, knowing Ramiro would take good care of the ship and Hanako. She got to her feet and bowed to her Captain. Then she was off, quickly to her cabin where she slipped into her working uniform before sprinting to the shuttle bay.


Shuttle Bay

Natsumi stepped into the shuttle bay, relieved to see that both shuttle craft were still there. One was being loaded with heavy armor and supplies, the other, not, making the determination as to what shuttle was bound for HX-24 simple. She boarded and looked for a seat.

Spotting Bors, with an open seat next to him, she went over. "Hi!" she said cheerfully to her roomie as she settled into the chair and strapped in.

Bridge

After completing the backup Sune secured the medical center and then made his way to the bridge. He had not received a reply to his message to Takeyu about a technical item, so he transmitted it to Ketsurui Zaibatsu for further development and consideration.

He stepped onto the bridge and went to his station. He pulled up a status. Still sending a team to another star system in only a shuttle. Not my call. he thought.

"Shôshô, exactly what are you expecting the away team to accomplish on HX-24? A small team is not going to be truly able to verify the veracity of the Mishhu's claim. It is highly unlikely that they are going to give us full access to the planet. Any places they authorize us to visit or take us to could most likely be staged to provide the appearance of peacefulness." he asked Hanako.

Bridge

Hanako seemed frustrated. "It's exploration, Sune! I want to see who we are dealing with and what is going on there. And as far as I know, there is no reception or itinerary for the visiting team. So we will wander around where we want. If things go wrong we'll deal with it with wit or force. It's the Star Army. I thought you would be in the shuttle. If not you, who is leading the away team to HX-24?" Hanako asked.

"You will have to excuse me, but I was busy in Medical so I only was able to monitor some of the chatter about the two missions we are launching.

You may call it exploration, but given that you are wanting to confirm the claims of the Mishhu, this is more of a reconnaissance mission.

I will now head down to the shuttle bay after a change of uniform."

Sune then left the bridge and made his way to his cabin. A few minutes later he exited wearing his Working Uniform. He wore his Ta-W1-3a - Katana on his left hip and his NSP on the other. He had a Type 31C Medical kit slung over his shoulder.

A few moments later he entered the shuttle bay. He looked at the other away team members as they were finishing their preparation. He approached the shuttle for HX-24. Stepped in.

"Ready for a trip to Wonderland? Yamashiro-Hei." he inquired as he stood inside.

HX-24 shuttle

Natsumi smiled as Sune boarded the shuttlecraft. "Yes I am!" She replied. She was excited to go. She knew this was a serious mission with a potential for danger. Nevertheless she was excited to explore a new world.

Shuttle

The rest of the squad soon showed up and took a seat in the shuttle. The two newbies greeted all of them with a curt nod and with the Chusa entering it was now the five of them ready to depart for HX-24. The waiting part was killing him and Egil couldn't stop fiddling with his hands. A peaceful planet abound with Mishhuvurthyar would almost certainly prove interesting and he hadn't seen a real life mishu up close before.

Shuttle Bay

"Clear the shuttlebay! Pilots prepare for departure and airlock cycle!" Victory transmitted on her shuttle's loudspeakers and via radio. After a moment, she double checked the shuttle bay to make sure things were set and she remotely commended the shuttle bay to drain the air out and unlock the bay doors. The bay lights automatically faded out leaving only red secondary ones.

On the pointed tail of the ship, lines appeared in the smooth hull as the rear doors moved outward and each swung outwards. From the shuttle windows, space was now visible along with the flashing of a running light at the ship's tail. The T8 shuttle lifted a little off the bay floor and pointed toward the opening, carefully passing through into open space above HX-24 I.

HX-24 Shuttle

Conrad stepped into the shuttle, not knowing what to think for now. He did not like having to wait, but wasn't really eager to go to a planet in working uniform. He didn't want to blow stuff upp, and he was never able to pilot power armor, but this felt way too unprotecting.

During the procedures, in which he had no role, he'd glance outside and review all the information he had in his mind. It was not much, but their greatest asset was that they had clear leadership in the shuttle.

He wondered what they would find on the planet. Speculation tensed and focussed him properly and prepared him for what came next. Whatever that was.

Raccoon T7 Transport Shuttle NG-X1-408-11 Telemachus V

Those in the four-person cockpit of the shuttle heard a call from the bridge. "Shuttle eleven, this is Shosho Hanako. We have just got back the scan results of the atmosphere and they are as follows: 69.5% argon, 19.4% oxygen, 5.5% sulfur dioxide, 4.5% nitrogen, 1.1% carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases. I am not a scientist and we do not have a science officer so I had to do some research but apparently the sulphur dioxide is 550 times the amount considered immediately dangerous to humans. Also the CO2 levels may cause mild drowsiness. Pressure is 83.13 kPa (0.82 standard). In light of this, I suggest bringing a filter mask or helmet. You should have AMES suits in the shuttle too if you want to change into them on the way down. Surface gravity is 0.55 G so you may feel a little bouncy."

Cabin 4

Mitsuko was keeping herself busy as the two away teams left the Eucharis. She started by rearranging her cabin - including Misato's half - while snacking on some of the chocolate she'd received. If things stayed this quiet on the ship, Murakami was worried she might polish off both sets of sweets. She took a few minutes to look over the new Bracelet she'd received, slipping it onto her wrist and setting up the password feature. It seemed useful enough to keep on her person whenever possible.

The Tsubo Orb was put on display, although she wasn't quite sure what to do with it yet. Were there really any memories she'd want to share in such an explicit way?

After things were organized enough for her approval, Mitsuko headed for the Cargo Bay. She was simply planning some routine checks. She might do a sweep of the now mostly empty Shuttle Bay as well, perhaps consult with the Galley or have a look through the Power Armor Bay if she had the time. With the ship rather empty and quiet, this was the perfect opportunity for this type of mundane maintenance. Murakami made sure to stay alert for any messages from the captain or other crew members, especially anything regarding the away teams.

T7 Shuttle

Sune listened to Hanako's announcement, Perhaps if you had not rushed me off the bridge and down here, you could have let me use my Science skills. he thought with a bit of frustration.

"Okay, you heard the Shôshô. We can not breath the atmosphere. Since we do not have any filter masks, we need to suit up in the AMES before we touch down." he said taking one out of the shuttle storage, and started putting it on. While he did so, he sent a message to the ship's Logistics person.

To: Murakami-Ittô Hei,
Subject: Requisition
At your earliest opportunity, put in a request to Logistics for the following items. Have them shipped to the Second Squadron's Starbase for us to pickup the next time we dock.

T7 Shuttle

As soon as the news was given about the atmosphere on the planet Natsumi got out of her seat and went to the storage compartment, grabbing two AMES suits, one for herself and one for Bors and brought them back.

"Here you go" she said, handing the second suit to her roomie. She then quickly went about putting her own suit on.
