"Unfortunately no, we are only equipped with one Mental Backup unit which has to be used for New backups. Or as in the two of you, it is the only option for you. But it only takes about fifteen minutes to accomplish. Definitely worth the inconvenience. Meanwhile I can go ahead and get your bioreadings." He said holding up the scanner.

Cabin 5

Egil began dragging his newly aquired gifts into his cabin along with his roommate. He filled his locker with the new luggage case and clothing, put most of the smaller items on his bed for now and placed his new assistant next to the desk until he could find some time to activate her. He was actually looking forward to that moment, but it shouldn't distract him from the job at hand. He quickly gathered the necessary equipment for an away mission and followed his roommate to the medical center.

Medical Center

Conrad entered the room before he did, his broad shoulders blocking any kind of view inside. Egil followed in behind him as the Chusa explained things to the Nepleslian. He slightly nodded to Sune as his presence was mentioned. Conrad didn't look like he appreciated a mind backup and Egil wondered what would happen should his current body perish. He would probably be refit into a Minkan body, but who knew what they could accomplish these days.

"I'll go first sir, I've been through this before. No sedation."

It was pretty obvious his roommate wanted him to go first by his gestures and Egil was happy to oblige. The sooner he was done, the faster he could prove his worth.

Ramiro wasn't one for presents, so he gathered the ones with his name on them and placed them onto his bed before heading to the bridge as ordered.

Bridge

Ramiro entered in time to catch most of the discussion. Sitting at his station he spun to face Hanako and grinned. "He thinks he can make demands of the Empire Shosho, I find this amusing. I'm assuming you don't trust him?"

With all the gift giving winding down and the summons to the bridge, Natsumi gathered up her new things and went to her cabin, setting them on her bed for now, she would sort them out and put them away properly later when she wasn't needed on duty.

Bridge

Natsumi stepped onto the bridge just as the comm transmitting between Hanako and the Mishhu was ending. She wasn't sure what was going on, but hoped there wasn't a fight in store, not when everyone had been having such a nice time.

She quickly took her place at her station and checked up on the tactical systems and ships system readiness indicators. All was reading green, just in case.

Medical Center

"As you wish, it does not matter to me." He motioned for Egil to get on the bed, and positioned the Synaptic Interface Unit over his face. Once he was satisfied with the alignment, he pressed the scanner's hypospray to his arm, and queued up the menu, he typed in, 'Baseline Mashiro, Egil' synced the scanner to the batch of scanner microbots and let it do its work.

Sune then went to the console at the side of the backup unit. He entered his personal access code, and loaded Egil's service number, and added a genetic sample scan to the data. With a flip of a switch, the unit started up and he watched as the data was gathered and sent to the Savior Pod in the ship's core.

He then walked over to Conrad. "May as well get your baseline data added to the ship's medical records." he said. Sune recharged the scanner's hypospray.

Takeyu watched his fellow crew as they opened gifts, and waited awhile before he opened his. The model made him excited, and the code to a subscription meant he'd get more knowledge on ships and possibly find new ways to improve on their systems, maybe...

"I hope you guys enjoy your gifts," winked Takeyu as he gathered up the presents he had opened, and the gifts he had received. "For those going on the away mission, make sure to have yourselves ready for departure," he said and made his way to his cabin to deposit his presents, then headed to the shuttle bay to get a shuttle ready.

"I do not know what to make of him so far," Hanako answered Ramiro. "I want to know more about him before making any judgements and I want to know more about this planet. Although our presence here is displeasing to Grullyvushhgari I think we have his permission to come down and try to change some minds. From the sound of it the people will be very diverse. I would really love to go myself, but in the interest of safety I think that we need to send an away team down to assess the situation first. Ramiro, put the ship into orbit of the habitable planet. Try not to scare these local freighters too much."

Hanako picked up the phone and dialed the intercom. "Away teams please report to the shuttle bay. Power armor is not authorized for this mission of peaceful investigation. Please wear a working uniform."

Mitsuko seemed saddened by the thought of throwing all the wrapping paper away, but that seemed to be the thing to do. She helped gather up the trash, however, before following Misato to their cabin. "Now, don't open up that box until you have time to try on the clothes..." She grinned, wanting to savor the moment.

After her roommate left to prepare for her mission, Murakami spent some time unpacking her new luggage and arranging everything properly. She might as well tidy up their cabin, since it had had a sudden influx of new things to clutter it up. Toys and gadgets mixed in with clothing, it certainly made the cozy space feel more like home.

"Aye ma'am," Ramiro responded as he brought up the controls and began moving the ship into orbit.

"Charisma, would it be possible to get an active scan of the entire planet, see what type of weapons or gunship they have?"

Medical Bay

Egil closed his eyes when the interface unit was placed above his head. It was easier to concentrate like this and keep the pain to a minimum. An tiny sting in his left arm confirmed a hypospray injection, the beginning of his first medical record in the ships medical logs. Within moments the machine began to probe his brain for all the information it contained.

The first backup was always the most unpleasant. It had to record your entire brain instead of just updating a few things. This process tended to cause a few painful stabs inside your head as it reached out into every corner of your mind. After a long quarter-hour the machine finished its backup and allowed Egil to rub his eyes and get up and running again. He'd wait on Conrad before reporting in with the away team as requested by the announcement.

Medical Bay

''Go ahead sir.''

A little prod from the hypospray. Conrad wasn't exactly minding what was currently happening, only passively registering the process of Egil's mind being scanned and stored. He was thinking about the announcement he heard. Peaceful. He'd probably be briefed soon enough. Yet he could not resist to ask the Chusa.

''Sir, do you know anything about HX-24? Seems we're a peaceful away team for now. Didn't know before.''

As Egil finished with the process, Conrad positioned himself on the bench. The other didn't seem to have any lasting agony. Good. Yet again, he felt big. He made sure to lay both as comfortable as possible, but not restrict the device that was going to do all the work in any way.

''Ready when you are sir.'' said Conrad, folding his arms over his chest and with his legs dangling over the edge.

PA Bay

Bors was putting the final touches on his MCAS when Hanako's announcement came over the loud speaker.

"No Power Armor? Peaceful Investigation? What did we stumble upon the lone pacifist planet in the universe?" He said to Misato crossing his arms and starring at the speaker as if it was going to give him a proper answer. "At least let us take a rifle or something..."

Letting out an exasperated sigh he left the PA bay to return to his cabin and change into the proper uniform.

Shuttle Bay

After changing Bors headed to the shuttle bay, slightly miffed and also curious as to what this mission was about. Upon arriving he noticed Takeyu already in the shuttle bay. "So boss any Idea what this mission is about?"

Bridge

"Scans are already in progress but will take some time," Charisma replied to Ramiro, "Overall it appears there are no major individual threats from the planet but a large number of minor threats. Additionally the assorted ships in the area are armed. I can see twenty other ships in orbit and occasionally some come and go. Most of the activity on the planet is centered around a single large settlement."

Medical Center

Sune logged the first mental backup into the system, securing it for future use. "Your medical scan is as expected completely normal. Mashiro-Hei"

He turned to Conrad, "Your turn. Trust me, it only looks more painful than it really is."

He had listened to Hanako's call for a peaceful away team. He sent a message to her via Charisma.
Shôshô,
I recommend that due to the nature of the planet we observe combat field rules. No rank on uniforms, and no saluting or bowing to officers. These folks claim to be peaceful but there can be malcontents and we do not need to identify priority targets.
Jalen-Chusa.

PA Bay

With the announcement, Misato was worried about leaving the ship and head out to the other system, but unless the Sho'Sho' announced the cancellation of secondary mission she was going to prep for it. She had the PA loaded up with a single gauss rifle and the NSB Leg Launchers.

Once she was done loading up the PA, she started getting her sub-machine gun ready which she attached to the open slot on her shoulder. Misato had thought about a way to boost her fire power for the past few days, the best she came up with was the type 33 Auto Grenade Launcher, that and an extra belt of fragmentation rounds made her fell more confident She thought for a few seconds before she grabbed a duffel and loading a 4 blocks of plastic explosive, 5 yards of det-cord, 3 satchel charges, and enough detonators for all of it. She grabbed a type 31A Survival Kit to toss into the shuttle.

She moved to the shuttle bay to wait for the others.

Medical Center

"Thank you sir, that's good to know." he replied. "Any news while I was.. occupied?" He had heard the announcement but had otherwise been preoccupied with fighting back the headaches. What was it that they had found exactly?

Now Conrad slipped onto the bed and the Chusa set up the procedure. Egil simply stood a meter or two from the bed, waiting for him to finish. Once this was over with they would quickly need to change uniform and report to the shuttle bay. He figured they would probably run a little late.

Shuttle Bay

"Checks complete," muttered Takeyu as he opened a side panel to the shuttle and inspected the engine and moved to the rear and into the shuttle to start a diagnostic on its internal systems. "Should take a few minutes to complete at most, not expecting any problems," he started muttering to himself. "However, it never hurts to double check and verify things... if a problem exists but is not found before launch well.. that could cut our trip rather short," the Taii shook his head and stepped out of the shuttle and stared at the other one.

His eyes fell upon Misato, whom he hadn't noticed enter the bay until just now. He gave the soldier a wave of the hand before heading into the power armor bay to suit up for the excursion to HX-21.

At the moment there was little for Natsumi to do. Things seemed to be going peacefully, at least for the moment. She busied herself helping Ramiro monitor the sensors. Two pairs of eyes were better than one, especially with how much traffic there was in the local orbit. Who knew how many of these ships might be waiting for the right moment to pounce on a Yamatai warship.

Natsumi kept her eyes on her screen, double checking over every reading and ready to bring the weapons and tactical systems online just in case the Shosho called for it.

"A curious event to say the least. We are entering orbit above a Mishhu planet that claims to be peaceful. Time and diligence will tell if that is true." Sune replied.

Sune did not like the idea of the crew going down with no power armor. It was too easy for the 'peaceful' people to overwhelm an away team and how would they find them.

He set up the system for the next backup, and gave thought to the problem of finding their people in the case of the worst. It had to be small, something that could be hidden. He what he wanted, but also knew that he would need some technical assistance.

He routed a message to Takeyu via Charisma
Takeyu,
Sending you the specifications for some prototypes I would like to have made for the upcoming mission. I need your expertise in working out the electronic aspects of the devices.

Sune.

After a bit over 15 minutes, the Synaptic Interface Unit finished its assignment. Silently, Conrad adhered to the procedure. When he was finished, he had nothing to add or speculate upon. They needed to move in any case.

''We have to go sir.''

With that, Conrad made his way to his Cabin, and after putting on his Working outfit, he quickly made way to the shuttle bay. He did not wish to speak words, but he didn't like the SIU. It didn't hurt all that much, but it was a sudden realization of dread were it ever that he would lose his physical form. And be...recreated. Different.

He didn't wish to think about it for now, and even though this was supposed to be a peaceful thing, he hoped nobody down there thought about anything but peace, or he would definitely make sure they regret it later.

Conrad entered the shuttle bay, hoping his haste had worked and he was not too late due to the mental backup procedure.
