Munching down the tower of power he had created on his own plate, Conrad noticed the thing he already knew. These people were…small. Really. He had met Egil before and didn’t wanna wake the dwarf up from his sleep, but he seemed one of the taller ones…But hey, the coffee was good and the food tasteful. He would wish for nothing more, except possibly a bigger chair. All of the sudden however, his silent enjoyment was stripped from him by an Ittô Hei. Feeling like a lumbering giant, he looked up from his meal, trying to chew away as much as possible before talking. He wouldn’t wish to seem impolite. It was enough, he thought.

‘’Go ahead. Just mind the leg space. I seem to be needing more than average of it…’’

As he took another few bites, he hoped that the coffee had taken enough hold to wake him up enough for logic thought and speech. Whilst he didn’t really wish to ask pesky question in the early morning, he felt he was kind of supposed to. But he knew nothing about this individual in his close vicinity. Great. He deemed asking her if she worked on this ship was going to make him look rather moronic, so he’d stay away from that.

‘’So…uh…How’d you get so cheerful without coffee?’’

As he took another sip he noticed he was already running out. Time for seconds! He’d wait a little though, the Shôshô started talking. Taking down the remnants that were once the mighty fortress of food, Conrad looked back at his new breakfast buddy. The cheerful one.

‘’And what is it that you do best on here, if I may ask?’’

"Thanks" Natsumi smiled and settled into the chair next to Conrad. She shrugged in response to his question. "I just am" she said. "Got plenty of sleep last night" she added. "You aren't a morning person?" she asked, then took a bite of her breakfast.

"I'm one of the Starship Operators" Natsumi replied, "Though, I specialize in starship gunnery over piloting or navigation" she went on. "What about you?"

Takeyu walked casually into the room, naturally looking at his ICP as he crunched numbers and stared at a model for a new drone that he was going to have the fabricators construct soon.

When he looked up, he realized that he had walked all the way from engineering to the Wardroom without ever once taking his eyes off the pad. Muscle memory... he blinked and locked out the pad and put it away.

"Morning," he said to those there, and then gave a curteous bow toward Hanako like he always did. The Taii's eyes moved about the room until they laid upon a new person to the crew, he hadn't checked the roster and decided not to since he was right there and would meet the man anyway.

He went over and grabbed himself some breakfast, something hardy in this case and then took a seat at the table.

Mitsuko was a bit puzzled by the conversation Ramiro and Misato were having. She just shook her head at the two, concentrating on her own breakfast for the moment. She couldn't help but blush as the captain spoke, bringing back some embarrassing memories.

The thought of joining another away team so soon, even after their short vacation, made her wary. She glanced at her roommate, worried about her reaction to the news.

Misato almost choked on her food with Ramiro's reply, "If that is how it is I will ave to find a better place for me to sleep." she said with another grin. "Maybe in in the PA bay. bet it would be comfy down there." She shoveled some more food.

As she was chewing the Sho'sho' made her announcement, she started to shake deep down, 'Not again, not so soon...' She knew it had to happen sooner or later but she could hope for later... couldn't she?

She looked around at the crew around. Would the Sho'Sho' assign someone else in charge of the away team, or will misato be in charge again? Suzume was full of doubt and concern, it was hard to keep Takeyu's advice in the forefront of her mine.

Hanako narrowed her eyes and peered around at her crew as they all ignored her questions. She silently ate her jellied biscuit while she waited for them to come up with something.

After a moment, the phone on the wall rang, and Hanako stood up and picked it up. "Thank you. I will be up in a few minutes," she answered and then hung up. "We have reached the outskirts of the system and sensors are showing multiple ships and a habitable planet," Hanako relayed to the crew.

The captain looked over to her newly trained soldiers "Mashiro. Hightower. I would like you to go on the mission if we send one. There is no substitute for field experience. You should also talk to Chusa Jalen for help getting a mind backup made before you go. We do not have a medic at the moment but the Chusa used to be one so he knows how to do it."

Egil quietly enjoyed his breakfast and tried to take in some of the conversation around the table. He didn’t have much success as most of it was small talk apart from the Shosho’s introductions. The ham and cheese sandwich was the first to disappear from his plate, followed by the much sweeter biscuit to top it off. For once the coffee he gulped down with it really hit the spot and he was not feeling any of his usual morning drowsiness.

“Yes ma’am.” He replied. A spot on the away team was all he had hoped for. Sure, serving on the ship would do just fine but this was part of the reason he chose this line of work, although the thought of lacking a medic was somewhat alarming to him. Well, the Chusa looked like the capable sort, he wouldn’t be a Chusa otherwise.

“Jalen-Chusa, do you have anything planned after breakfast or can we get those backups done straight away?”

The ship’s backup unit probably needed some more time as there was no previous backups of them available. He’d like to get them over with as soon as possible as they tended to be a very unpleasant experience.

Conrad smiled. He liked the positive energy, And she was good with large guns! As he finished up, he heard the Shosho tell him his new task immediatly. No interview yet. He quickly whispered his reply to the Itto Hei.

"Oh I like mornings and nights. Just not too interested in all the things inbetween. I can enjoy the calmer scenarios."

He looked up to his Shosho and nodded in confirmation. He was glad he could go with the other new guy, but didn't expect them to go alone. That'd be off if two Santo Hei's were the ones to be sent out, without any expertise on the matter. Interesting thought though.

" Affirmative Shosho. I will make the necessary preparations."

That he would. Didn't know how or if he was supposed to search for a bigger gun now or his regular army equipment would suffice. In the meantime, he needed one more cup of coffee. He nodded to be excuses to his breakfast buddy, but he would return shortly.

'Do you need anything?'

When Egil spoke, Conrad hoped the Chusa wouldn't ruin his idea of a second serving of glorious coffee.

Misato looked up and listened to the Sho'sho's announcement Then thought for a few moments, "Ma'am i have two questions, first could we stop at HX-21? second Who is going to lead said away mission?" She hoed her face was neutral, she was worried that she would be put in charge again, not that she would turn it down, but she hoped since to most likely not be a combat mission someone else would be put in charge.

Sune finished the last of his juice.

He looked briefly at Misato then back to the others. "The matter of Away team or teams and their composition will be determined once we have a better idea of what is going on in the system. After all, a Search and Rescue effort would need a different skill set than if we need to send down a Combat team." he said with a grin.

He stood up, "All personnel should update their mental backups. Bridge personnel can auto-update their via the SPINE interface. The rest of you come join me in the Medical Center and we will get your backups taken care of." He then cleared his place at the table, and made his way to the Medical Center.

Strangely ironic, that my first mission back on the Eucharis, and I am back in medical doing backups. he thought with a chuckle.

Hanako looked to Misato. "HX-21? It's been four years since the Eucharis was there last. We're about thirteen and a half light-years from there. Using the fold booster, we could get there by shuttle in a little over 27 minutes. We could send someone to check it out while we're at HX-24."

The Shosho stood and returned her tray to the galley window. "Mango, I have a surprise for you. Speaking of which, we should go down to the lounge and open our presents before we get too busy."

Bors hardly said a word during breakfast, instead listening in on what everyone else had to say. The two new crew members did surprise him though, seeing as he didn't see them come in during his sleepless night.

"Ill volunteer to checkout HX-21" Bors said finally speaking up, "I mean, I'm just throwing my name out there."

"Alright," Hanako nodded to Bors. "You could take Victory with you. She is a very skilled shuttle pilot. Misato, did you want to go to HX-21 as well?" she asked.

As the crew began to finish their breakfast, Hanako started heading to the stairs down to the lounge, lingering on the rail as she waited for answers.

Misato was pleased that the Sho'sho was going to let her go off to NX-21, Nodding She spoke quickly, "Yes Ma'am I would love too. Shall we suit up in PAs when we go?" She wanted to make sure she had the gear ready if something went tits-up.

Takeyu listened casually to the exchange of words between the crew; he was tempted to volunteer himself but since they now had a technician onboard, he opted to keep his mouth shut so that he could train this newbie.

"Just be mindful of any hazards that you run into," said the Taii as he looked at those who were going. "I'd suggest you bring Cherry along, just in case you run into anything that needs fixing."

He looked down at his food and cut some pieces of his ham and took a sip from his coffee.

Hallway

Sune stopped in the hallway when he heard discussions about an Away Team and who would go on it. That was technically his responsibility.

"Shosho, if you insist on sending a team to HX-21 in a shuttle, then based on the problems with the last away team. the Shoi should go, and Cherry should remain here. Being that far from the ship with no chance of rapid assistance, they need someone to be in charge. This will be an ideal opportunity for Takeyu to get some leadership experience.

Because between fold time and then moving in from the edge of the Hills Sphere it could upwards of an hour for a response from us to arrive.

Power Armor and survival gear should be included."

"I would prefer to refrain from making the night shift personnel work day shifts in addition to their normal duties," Hanako said. "Can we leave Cherry and Blackberry out of this? We need them on the ship. Three people are enough for an away team to HX-21, and if Takeyu wants to make that four, that is alright. I am more concerned with the main away team, which will inspect HX-24. Come on, let's open our presents so we can relieve the night shift."

Takeyu felt a smile tug on the edge of his face, he should've expected it, he was a Taii after all. He took another sip of his coffee before looking over at the Shosho. "I can go in their place then ma'am."

He looked at the assortment of presents, pondering if the ones he got for the crew were in their as well.

Misato's reaction was about what she'd expected. Mitsuko slipped one hand over to squeeze her leg, trying not to be too obvious about giving her support. As the side mission was arranged, she sent her roommate a message. Why do you want to go to HX-21, Suzume-chan? Were you on board the last time the Eucharis was there? Is it something important?

She waited for a reply before breaking contact, moving to put away her dishes before following the others. "Open the presents?" Murakami felt like she'd missed a step. "Oh, I left mine in the cargo bay. Except the ones Suzume-chan helped me send off. I'll have to go after..."

Misato wasn't sure that it was going to be all that simple if everyone now was arguing, polite as they were being, over how the away team would work. "Ma'am if it will end up being such a hassle we don't need to go." It would sadden her a little, but she was soldier.

When Mimi placed her hand on Misato's leg a shill raced up her spine, causing to smile.

Why? cause I was looking up some data on planets near by, since the Sho'sho' mentioned we could stop ant any of them, and I found out this one had a bit of surplus and scavenge left there. I'm hoping to find some stuff that is worth while and make arrangements for them to be picked up and shipped to my storage. she turned and winked at Mitsuko, Got to always look to the future, got to be able to afford to build my own ship at some point. can't bum around the galaxy and still be part of Star Army. You want to come with? Join me in a life of crime? A smirk raced across her face.

As Mimi was heading out to go gather her gifts Misato placed her dishes up and asked "Would you like a hand?"
