Hanako wrinkled her nose and made the ugliest face as Conrad passed him by and sat down. The way he reeked made her want to gag. As she pushed her plate away, she looked over at Sune silently asking him if he smelt what her Nekovalkyrja nose identified. "Speaking of toxic atmospheres," she softly complained to her first officer before standing up to continue with the briefing.

"Due to our small crew," Hanako told the crew, "I will permit a maximum of two away teams at any given points. Now is the time to assemble the teams. The two main points of interest seem to be the site of the NMX base and the crashed ship."

Sienna nodded distantly at Natsumi's response, her eyes on her plate as she continued to eat. She could hardly be bothered to draw her attention away from it; the food they had aboard this ship was astounding. She had no idea where they got it, or even how they got it this far out on the rim of known space. She'd never had anything like it, and had no idea of its origins or ingredients. But as with dinner the night before, she didn't care.

Glancing up and scanning the crew sitting around the table from beneath her brow, she took cursory note of most of them. She caught the mousey looking one with the thick glasses giving her an odd, sideways look, but the moment she caught her eyes she made an overly obvious show of not being interested in her. She tilted her head slightly, continuing to chew as she stared back at the top of her head for a moment before moving on with her gaze.

There was the nonstop babbling about the ship's next objectives, and yet again Sienna found herself puzzled by this captain's camaraderie with the crew. She was further perplexed by the way she seemed to ask for advice and input from her subordinates. Every other experience she'd had observing people in positions of power, particularly military types, those in charge seemed more built towards expecting absolute obedience, not making friends with their men and women.

Conrad came thundering in, and as he passed by Hanako, she noticed the disgusted look on her face. Sienna frowned a bit around yet another near-bursting mouthful of food, befuddled as to what she could be reacting to. When the seven foot giant moved past her, she caught a whiff of pungent cigar smoke. Could that be it? Were Yamataians sensitive to tobacco?

She smirked, eyeing the captain for a moment again. If the rest of the Nekovalkyrja were similarly averse to scents other than perfumed cloth and baking pastries, she idly wondered what would have possessed them to set foot on HX-24 I in the first place.

Misato saw Mimi-chan's reaction to her invitation of the Sienna, so she sent a quick message to her. Now you can observe her up close, A snake in the hand is safer then a snake in the grass.

She heard Sienna correct her on her name. "Oh I'm terribly sorry, I miss-heard, that or the fact I just got up. So how are you liking the ship so far?"

Misato was half paying attention to the brief, she knew what she would like to do. She lifted her head and look to the Shosho, "Ma'am, I would like permission to be suited up in my Mindy, but wait aboard ship, in case there is need of fire support on one of the away missions. I would go with one of them, but I fear a repeat of the last mission where I was on another planet when i should have been with the other away mission."

Sune caught the scent of Conrad's recreation. He gave a slight nod to Hanako, Perhaps a reminder about the ship rules is needed. I will bring it up when Hanako is finished.

He listened to her conditions, and nodded in approval of limiting the teams to only two.

"Before I make my suggestions Shosho, I would like to remind our newer crew members and guest to check the Ship Rules. Also a reminder that Smoking is illegal within the Yamatai Star Empire."

He turned his attention to Hanako, "I would like to take a team to the NMX base. While it appears heavily damaged, it is possible that some of its lower levels may be intact enough for us to gather useful information and materials. I also figure having our chief engineer lead a team onto the crashed vessel would be the logical choice.

Given that we do not know what is in the base, hazards such as radiation and the like, I recommend that team one go down in their power armor."

Bors almost felt bad for Conrad, he didn't like seeing another trooper getting hemed up but he knew that rules had to be learned somehow. The thing that intregued him the most was the smell of cigar coming from the large Nepleslian gotta see if he has anymore... maybe I can trade him for one of my Ecgs... he thought to himself.

"I'll jump on the NMX base mission, if there is trouble i can deal with it, its my job after all." He said with a slight chuckle.

Mitsuko made an odd face as she received that message from her roommate. She didn't seem as sure about the idea. The suggestion Misato spoke aloud seemed more sensible, though.

"That seems wise. I could do the same. We can monitor communications and respond in case of emergencies. Especially if one of the teams needs supplies, a ride home or simply someone to ferry supplies back and forth." She paused for a moment, nodding. "Last time, one team needed supplies brought to them, while the other needed items taken away..."

Natsumi listened to the discussion as she eat. She didn't blame Sienna for not being too talkative. Even getting cold breakfast was good.

Then Conrad came in, reeking of tobacco and sweat. Her nose scrunched up as he passed. "Oofh" she looked down at her plate, suddenly put off. She pushed her plate away.

She really wasn't thrilled with the idea of fighting NMX and possibly getting shot again. "Shosho, I'll volunteer for the away team to explore the crashed ship" she said, looking up from her plate at the blue haired Captain.

"I can take a team to the crashed ship," remarked Takeyu as he lowered his head and looked over in the direction of Conrad. It was irking him a bit that the man reeked of stuff that was forbidden on the ship, the Taii found himself wondering if he'd have to set up another punishment.

"Thank you, Sune," Hanako said. "With the Telemachus headed to the depot, that leaves us with only type 8 shuttles with a maximum of 8 personnel each. Your team, designated as Team 1, will use one of the Firebird's shuttles and Takeyu's team will use the Golden Apple. I agree that your team should use power armor. I will leave the use of armor on Team 2 to Takeyu's discretion. Misato, Bors: you're with Sune's team. Natsumi, you're with Takeyu. Team leaders, do you want more people?"

OOC Notes:

Team 1: NMX Base

Sune - Leader
Misato - Infantry Support
Bors - Infantry Support

Team 2: Derelict Ship

Takeyu - Leader
Natsumi

Sune thought about the roster and the available skill set, "I would recommend that Citrine go on Team 2 to provide them with medical skills if needed. As for Team 1 I would like a technician, either Hightower or Mashiro, which ever would like to go. That should give us a good round base of skills for the mission.

'' 'Fraid that's gonna be me sir. Mashiro ain't available as I've gathered. There's a small issue though. Well...small. Team 1 is, as just specified, supposed to go in PA. I am unable to fulfill that request. What would you suggest, sir? I would oblige to aiding Team 1 in any case.''

Conrad stood up and disposed of his garbage. He would very much like his morning shower, but felt really bad at this moment. He wasn't the smartest of them all, but he got fooled by his own hard work. As far as he knew, most of the crewmen had superior noses, and well, he didn't small like daisies at this moment. He knew it, they knew it, he felt bad.

''Permission to get ready in advance sir. It seems I have to get rid of some elbow grease smell and need to reread the Ship rules again... Shamefully so, might I add..''

Truthfully, Conrad had sat down during his construction days with the smelliest, most hard working men he'd ever seen. This was just another of those unpleasant surprises. He was surprised how dense he could really be at some times, zoned out during work and even forgetting basic protocols. He stood there, silently waiting for an answer of his superior, trying to keep enough distance from anyone. Although it was too late for that already.

Re: [Mission 19.1] (HX-12 System)

Sune looked at Conrad, "Given your size, you should have been issued an MCAS armor to fit you."

After the ShoSho said what team he was on Bors got up to head to the armory to suit up. As he made his way to the door he overheard Sune mention something about an MCAS for Conrad.

"If he needs an MCAS, I can help him with one in the fabricator room. I made mine there and its not to hard to do."

Sune looked at Bors, "That would be excellent. Perhaps you could work with Hightower and show him how to use the equipment in case he needs to make repairs in the future."

Bors gave a quick affirmative nod to Sune as he made his way out.

"Alright Hightower, when your done showering and such meet me in the fabrication bay, unless the boss here wants you to do it now."

Walking out of the wardroom Bors made his way to the fabrication bay to get everything ready.

Having taken Sune's answer to Bors as confirmation that he was allowed to proceed, Conrad made his way out of the wardroom. Out of sight, he scratched the back of his head as he cursed himself.

''Real smart oaf. Now they all think you're a smoking caveman. I should've known I'm on a ship with other species and they're not like me at all...'' mumbled the large man to himself as he made his way to his cabin.

Cabin 5

As he entered, the same silence from before fell on Conrad. Alone. He quickly fetched his toiletry kit and made a mental note to liven up the cabin now that he was the only one sleeping in it. It shouldn't be a dome of silence, it should be a calm beach or grassy hill type deal. A place to relax. And he had to grudgingly admit he could smell a bit o' smoke. Just a bit.

Conrad made his way to the showers with his oversized bath towel and a clean working uniform. His pace was steadfast: he had wasted enough time this morning on tinkering. The showers itself were new to him, but he had no time to appreciate their design and their godly relaxing streams of hot water. He had to get clean, thoroughly, and get back to work. It was then that it dawned upon him that he was going to the fabrication bay...

Whilst he had never heard of such a thing during training, Bors was going to show him something. As far as he understood, something akin to PA his size! Conrad couldn't help but grin. Large guns! An all time favorite. With that thought, he could not dry himself faster as he stepped out of the shower. The new bath towels were an awesome gift from the Shosho. At home he had knitted several regular towels together, but it wasn't comparable.

Sienna nodded noncommittally to Misato in response, continuing to scarf down the dwindling part of her breakfast that remained on her plate. "It's great," she replied around another mouthful, hunched over her plate. "Damn classy ship y'all run here. Ain't slept that good since, well, ever."

She listened as Conrad was chastised for his smoking, and she actually felt a bit of pity for him, strangely. It seemed a little draconian for there to be a rule against the use of tobacco, considering all of the other luxurious vices they seemed to be accustomed to. Comforts like hot showers, soft beds, and exotic foods, in her view, seemed like they'd detract from a soldier's training and mindset as much as a harmless smoke might. She smirked a little to herself when she saw the big guy hang his head a little as he bore their oblique criticism.

Every so often she glanced up at the crew around her as they divvied up the duties for whatever operation they were running in this system. She wasn't even sure where they were, frankly, nor did she truly care. They were away from HX-24, and that was what mattered. She only paid cursory attention to what the group was talking about, making little effort to inject herself into the conversation nor pursue any with the gynoids sitting around her. It was strange for her to think that she was actually among the minority in the room as a creature of pure flesh and blood, and simultaneously eerie and fascinating that the fabricated beings around her seemed so much like real people. On some level, she wondered if they were.

Pondering the metaphysical implications of sentience aside, she crammed the last bite of waffle and fruit into her mouth and dropped her fork on the plate with a clatter, leaning back in her seat with a satisfied sigh. Some of the crew members started to file out, no doubt to fulfill whatever jobs they'd been assigned to. She stayed in her seat for a few more moments, observing everyone. She wondered if Hanako would have some job for her to do as well; after all, she had offered to make herself useful. She wouldn't be terribly heartbroken if not, though. There were all sorts of things about this ship that she was aching for the opportunity to learn about. Perhaps once everyone was gone, she might get the opportunity to sneak a peek at some of them.

Hanako shifted her attention to Sienna and sent the ship's recently rescued resident refugee a smile. "It makes me very content to hear myself or my ship referred to as classy. As soldiers we are often called upon to do things that are the opposite. If we can come out looking classy, that means we accomplished our mission with extreme finesse, making the most difficult missions seem easy. A classy soldier is a smooth operator that is not only respected but admired. We should all work towards that by holding ourselves and our crewmates to a high standard."

The Shosho looked over to Sune. "Medic Citrine would be best suited to the NMX team where there is a greater chance of finding traps and enemies. All away team members: please proceed to your shuttles. The Firebird can be accessed through the port-side docking tube of the main zero-G passage."

Looking back to Sienna, Hanako added "Sienna, if you are looking for something to do, Sienna, you may choose to join one of the teams in a spacesuit," emphasizing that it was completely optional.

Sienna cracked another little smirk as she shrugged her shoulders in reply to Hanako's gratitude. She didn't bother mentioning she'd been specifically referring only to the ship itself, as the previous night's squabble was still fresh on her mind. A quiet belch from breakfast rumbled in her throat just before she cleared it.

She folded her arms across her chest, leaning back in her seat in silence as she listened to Hanako give her final orders to the remaining crew members. When the captain turned her attention back to her and offered her the option to join one of the teams, however, her eyebrows shot up.

"Me?" she asked in mild astonishment, pointing to her sternum. She hadn't expected that. At best, she figured she'd be relegated to cleaning duty or routine maintenance in some crawl space where the heftier crew members couldn't fit. She'd actually looked forward to getting a look at some of this magnificent ship's guts, but the opportunity to go poke around on another planet was intriguing to her. As far as she could tell, she was going to be aboard the Eucharis for a while; it could wait. She grinned a little wider as she shrugged again. "What the hell, sure," she replied. Now she wished she'd been paying attention to what the others were talking about. "Which team you think can use me?"

Ramiro just say back as the teams were divided up, choosing not to give input as usual. Once he found a good pause in the discussion he piped up. "I'll just go wherever you need me ma'am, as usual."
