Re: [Mission 19.3]
Misato was about to storm off, and ignoring Koizumi or maybe even hitting the new enlistee, but a very mean thought rolled through her head. "Well come close here, A lot of what I'm about to tell you has been classified, but you look like I can trust you, hell your a doc right? Never mind, here." She sat sown on the step she was on, "You see the Mishu have many units they field. But none stand as brutal as the Ripper..." She paused for a moment to let the name sink in.
Chieko wondered why Misato's face seemed to get dark for a second, but when the Neko turned back and started on about something classified - she was intrigued. "I've only finished my undergraduate degree, but if it's alright," she wondered about the cat eared woman, but getting her to talk would be the only way to find out what she was really getting at. The scientist leaned up against the wall as the Itto Hei began with the Mishu and nodded, "I suppose they aptly named it."
Misato's eyes flashed with a bit of anger for a second at that, "You have no clue, sure there is a lot of information you can find through the ship's computers. Sure you would think they would put all the information there, but they leave out somethings," She looked at the Minkan studying her, "you see they aren't really part of this universe, they can move through out an environment like some kinded of evil ghost." Misato took a deep breath, "They can disappear and reappear around you and your unit, Now now I know your going to say Teleporation, but that doesn't explain it, no energy readings, nothing. One second it is before you, the next... who knows..." Misato frowned.
Chieko's eyes slowly widened as she tried to think of anything in basic that could be used against something so fast, but as Misato continued her limited knowledge of physics was just enough to make a shiver run up her spine. "Why would they hide something like this?" she started, "don't, didn't we come up with some way to defend against this?"
"Nothing... and would you tell people that there is an enemy that can slip into your room at night and carve you out like a holiday bird." Misato looked up and down the passage before whispering, "They can do that too, even on ship..." Her voice continued to get darker and quieter, "Even this ship, that is why you have to remember to update daily... They are like demons or something..." Misato stood suddenly, "But don't tell anyone I told you, the only reason I know, is cause I saw it happen to my first roommate. I think it is why they don't 'invent' constent updating, don't want us to remember being slayed as we sleep."
Chieko thought she heard a sound coming from behind her and started to look around trying to seem confident, but it caused her some panic. Even as Misato continued, the academic started to shake ever so slightly while her eyes began periodically darting around the compartment. "But that makes so little sense," she almost squeaked, "don't we need to defeat them?"
"Morale Dear..." Misato smiled 'kindly' "if we all knew who would attempt to fight the demons? Who would leave home to be slaughtered in our 'safe' ships? Just keep it in mind, hell I just got killed by one earlier today. Didn't see it coming, they were offering peaceful talks them poof I'm dead..."
"I suppose I understand Morale," she looked a little guilty, but worked to shake it, "Someone still needs to find a way..." Chieko soon looked like some new challenge had been presented to her, though the fear was still visible. "So what happens if I ask about it?"
"You might get mind wiped..." She frowned, "I heard about it happening to a Neko on a sister ship here." She shook her head sadly.
The look of grim resolution intensified on Chieko's face as she drew a long breath in, then sighed. "Thank-you for the warning," she then said rather curtly, her face soon changed over to a more driven look then she nodded, "Thank-you." The Minkan then was about to walk away when she came to herself, "by the way, I didn't get your name."
"Suzumi, Misato Suzumi... " Misato walked off with out another word to the now confuzzeled newbie. She was off to grab some clothes and a shower.
Chieko gave another polite bow as Misato walked away. Soon she let off another sigh through her nostrils and crossed her arms. This new challenge, along with getting to know her cabin mate now playing on her mind.
