Re: [Mission 19.3]

"Of course," Chieko nodded and took her seat, settling so that Sune had a clear view of the data. "There seems to be a large amount of subspace activity to the south of us that looks like communications traffic and drive wakes - highly unlikely that it's natural from these signals. I would expect this more from most of the other directions; however, the closest known nation is more to the southwest to west-southwest and that is at least forty-five degrees away from these sources. I believe we have found somebody, though there is not enough information to say whom."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

"Mitsuko didn't have anything to do with the execution or the idea of this. I did this on my own accord, I thought it was something nice I could do." Misato stood there at attention. "I forgot about the regulation on the galley being restricted. I will pay the the costs of these sandwiches."

Misato didn't know what to do, but seeing it was only thirteen hundred hours, and she had died, thought she was going to be reassigned, and now was being chewed out for trying to help out. She just stood there waiting for Lime to continue chewing her out.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Mitsuko had been expending so much effort staying awake that she hadn't even been able to worry properly. Normally she would have caught this mistake, especially since it would mess up the ship's inventory. Swallowing the food she'd been chewing, she managed to stand up without appearing too nervous. The situation had noticeably woken her up, though.

"Lime-Hei, I apologize." She looked between the cook and her roommate, standing at attention. "It's been a...rough day. S-sorry. I had a feeling this would upset you, but I couldn't concentrate enough to realize all of the consequences." Mitsuko furrowed her brow behind her glasses, frowning at her mistake. She shook her head to clear away the frustration with herself, moving on.

"Misato-Hei was already planning to take these to the bridge, and I'm sure the captain would have the same questions for her." The Neko chewed her lip, considering the problem. "She wasn't thinking clearly...maybe it has to do with her...new...um...body..." Mitsuko trailed off, avoiding looking at Misato for a moment.

"The food has already been handled, and it shouldn't go to waste. If you alerted the captain that you were sending up a snack, um...well...we'd be happy to volunteer our free time assisting you. Starting tomorrow, when I redo the inventory." She gave the cook a bow, hoping she'd give the two of them a break, after what they'd been through. "I can assure you, Misato-Hei won't forget what she did wrong." Mitsuko looked at her roommate, still at attention, ready to take the brunt of the punishment, then gave a weary smile to Lime, hoping she could see how seriously Misato was taking this.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite

"Ma,am before we begin with the interview let me just say that it is an honor to finally meet and server under your command". She was beginning to overcome her nerves as she set her duffle bag and medkit down directly next to the door. the young Neko played over the check list of possible errors she could make in the interview one last time before the Shosho began to speak.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite

"I apologize for immediately bringing you into my bedroom," Hanako flashed a smile, "but this ship is rather small and I do not have an office on it. I have the option of getting a bigger ship but I am somewhat attached to this one. I have spent nearly six years on her and nine on similar classes, and so this ship feels very much like home."

The Shosho brushed back her teal hair and sat on the bed, gesturing for Izokia to sit in a nearby ornately carved wooden chair with red cushion and a fur pelt on it that matched the massive fur blanket on the bed itself. "I want to start with asking you a few questions. What can you tell me about yourself that I should know? What are some of your strengths and weaknesses and what do you plan to do to leave your personal mark of greatness on the history of the Eucharis?"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite
Izokia smiled back rubbing her neck nervously and gets her plan for the interview in order prepared she begins. "Well as far as knowledge goes I'm am familiar with biology and anthropology for any kind of first contact situation. Socially, I will interact with anyone else I meet and unlike the infantry stereotypes I don't believe in confrontation with fellow soldiers of star army. In combat I favor melee weapons over any combat system particularly fencing and kendo. And historically I served in the infantry legions during the Second Mishhuvurthyar War, me, my two sister, and seven other Nekos were on patrol. I was the squads medic when we were ambushed I was the only survivor. Because of this I find everything about the NMX repulsive would like nothing more then to see each of them dead as punishment for their crimes. But now I'm trying to get a new start on a star ship and over come my past failures". She brushed some loose red hair away from her eyes and then took a deep breath.

"My biggest weakness is that I don't work well when I'm the only living being in a situation." Izokia paused for a minute afraid that she said to much but she touched the back of her neck and started again. "My biggest strength is that I work amazingly with a team, other members of the crew, or even if can see the person I'm talking or helping."

"To leave my mark on the history of the Eucharis I want to use what I learn here to revolutionize medicine in star army so none of our soldiers need fear that they may not survive a battle"

After her tirade she look slightly taken aback by her own ramblings and was immediately horrified that she said far to much and was now consciously resisting the urge to apologize for the monologue.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite

"Hmm. How do you plan to revolutionize medicine?" Hanako probed. "Can you give me some examples of ideas you've already implemented? I also want to know about your other goals and where you see yourself in five years from now."

Bridge

Meanwhile, at the mission operations station, the screens showed Away Team 2 was still on the surface with their shuttle hovering on auto-pilot. There was now some minor damage showing on some of the armors but everyone was alive. One of the team had requested a weather report. There was currently a break between sandstorms that would last for another twenty minutes.

Wardroom

Lime cross her arms over her chest and looked at Mitsuko's face. "It is not about my feelings...although you are also intruding on my personal work area. It is about following the ship rules and keeping the ship's inventory straight. You are right that the food cannot be returned once it is out...but don't try to take it to the bridge. Food isn't allowed up there and for good reason. Going to the bridge means going through the main zero-gravity passage. You do not have to pay for the sandwiches but the First Officer may assign you some extra duty." With that, Lime returned to the kitchen.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite

Her eyes brightened a bit at the question "Well none of my ideas have been implemented just yet. But I do have ideas for the soul transfer system: such as allowing a massive data bank of every mind we have stored so that way we could provide reinforcements without the need for transport ships. The idea would also help if a ship or base was over taken so that we wouldn't need to eject a Soul Savior pod. Those are just a few of my bigger ideas. I have some for triage procedures, a few medical scanner modifications I thought about trying."

Izokia began to relax more and more as she spoke to her superior "other goals of mine beside medicine and being a part of the removal of the NMX are mostly superficial like meet and maybe learn some combat skills from a Ketsurui Samurai but that more of a fantasy then anything." Izokia gave an embarrassed shrug to punctuate her sentence.

The last question she actually had to think about. "Ideally I'd like to make it to a full fledged medical officer position with some of my ideas at least published in a medical journal or two if not fully implemented by several major ships in Star Army." As she got wrapped up in her own ambitions she grew more confident and slowly her nervous little compulsions stopped all together.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite

"I see. I would be happy to have you as part of my crew. The ship's crew is getting larger. We have run out of standard bunk rooms but we can get a sleeper module in the cargo bay that you can stay in. Please find Mitsuko, the supply person, to get one ordered. In the meantime you may have to get her to give you a hammock or a bedroll, or sleep on on of the lounge couches or share or borrow another crew member's bed. Before you go, do you have any questions for me?"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Hanako's Suite

"Thank you very much it will be a pleasure to serve with this great crew." She stood up with in a very prideful stance bowed to Hanako. Izokia turned to move out the room when she got to the door she tied her hair back up into a pony tail exposing her tattoo, the Yamataian character for apology. Izokia took a breath and in her normal mouse like voice said "Thank you again for this opportunity Shosho." With that she left the bridge.

Wardroom

Having left most of her things in a corner of the med lab until more permanent lodging could be set up. She was still nervous about having to take the cargo bay to sleep in alone she decided to find the wardroom and calm her nerves with some food. When she stepped in she saw two distraught looking Nekos and one very angry looking cook. Izokia then quickly saw the sandwiches set out. Quietly she asked them "um would either of you mind if I had one of your sandwiches... or is this a bad time" she was already moving to step out of the wardroom expecting some kind of refusal.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Mitsuko had a serious look on her face as Lime spoke, nodding as she listened. As she finished, Murakami managed a smile, giving her a little bow. "Thank you, Lime-Hei." Her burst of energy was mostly used up at this point, turning the smile to Misato before settling back down in her seat. She picked up the sandwich she'd already bitten into, blinking as someone new entered. She must be one of the people that arrived on that shuttle.

"W-well, we don't want them to go to waste."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Izokia sat down two seats past where the other crew were sitting. It was still silent between them when Izokia finished her first sandwich, with her confidence rebuilt slightly by food. "um would either of you be able to tell me where I could find Mitsuko... I'm sorry I'm still getting used to this ship so" food inspired confidence quickly falling apart with each word she says.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Bridge

Chieko listened to Takeyu's report, another tingle of excitement running through her as he talked about the artifact and possible life in the system. She then looked over to Sune, noticing that the report was coming from the other corner of the bridge and that someone ought to respond. "Chusa," the scientist started, "would you like me to check in on the Away Team?"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Misato stiffly bowed to Lime, before looking at the new crew member. "You're eating right in front of her..." her voice failed to hide the negative emotions she was fighting against all day. "You're new here are you not?" She made a mental check... "Where are you going to sleep?"

She stood here watching the new girl as a thought crossed her mind.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Mitsuko had finished her first sandwich as well, quietly sipping at the soda Misato had provided. She had to admit, she was feeling a little better after the snack. Although it had come at a cost. The Neko blinked as the new person said her name, standing up after placing her soda back on the table. She nodded at Misato's response.

"My name is Murakami Mitsuko, Logistics." She gave a small, polite bow. "Nice to meet you." Mitsuko remained standing as her roommate commented on the current cabin assignments. "Oh, yes. Things are getting crowded again. I hope you don't try to sleep in the cargo bay, like Helen and those infantry Neko." She shook her head at the memory, still standing, as the snack break seemed to have shifted into formal ship business again.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

"Don't make the newbie sleep out in the cargo bay... She can take my bunk... I can sleep somewhere else. Besides it looks like I have extra duty coming up so I might not be sleeping a lot." She looked at both of the Nekos with a look on her face as if things were already decided. "I can just store what I'm not using, like all my civie clothes, in my duffel and I bet I can cram that under the lower bunk, the Medic here can use most of my locker then."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

" Yeah I just joined the ship sorry. Did I do something wrong, did I eat someone's sandwich?" She looked very confused at the cook, slowly she got a look of fear on her face.

" Oh wow thank you for the bunk I don't really do well on my own, thank you. By the way I'm Izokia-Hei." Fear on her face was slowly sliding off and she was gradually overcoming her nerves till she heard the cook clear her throat startling her a bit.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Mitsuko blinked as her roommate offered up her bunk. "Suzume-chan? Wh-what?" She moved from the table to approach Misato, seeming rather upset by the idea. "No! Nobody is sleeping in my cargo bay or anywhere else but a cabin. Like they're supposed to." She hmphed, furrowing her brow at the idea. "If you really want to give up your bunk to Izokia-Hei, then fine. We'll just have to share mine." Murakami nodded, as if that decided everything. "It will be easy to fit all of our things in one cabin, together. If they're properly organized." The new girl probably hadn't been around long enough to pick up much clutter, actually.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

With her eyes going wide, Misato was stunned. "Um... Ok..." She smiled looking a bit confused, but she wasn't going to say no. The offer was something she had wanted for a long time, since the mousy roommate first came aboard. "I..um...better go and get my stuff moved and fix the bed for her... Hi.. I'm Misato Suzume." She looked her new roommate over for a second before walking stunned to their cabin.

Cabin 4

Misato walked in and dropped into her chair, breathing hard. 'What am I doing... I knew better then to rummage in the galley... now I'm sharing a bed with Mimi-chan... Maybe I should sleep in the PA bay or something...'

It took a minute or two of forcing herself to breath normally before her body caught up. Pulling out her duffel bag she started tossing in all the items tht she never used, including all her civie clothes. Once it was packed she stuffed it under the lower bunk. With a quick inventory of what was left, she decided she had way to much stuff. She hung the calender up above the over the desk and smirked at the explosion of a NMX Battleship, with a huge plasma ring expanding out from it.

She set the Orb on the desk along with the book she was given by Mimi. her box of old manuals got shoved under the bunk with her duffel the rest she tried to squeeze up against the side of the locker hoping there was enough room for Izokia. With a frown she decided that a lot of the stuff was going to be shipped off to Yamatai, She would pay to rent a storage closet or something so she could store it all.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Cabin 4

Izokia walked into the cabin carrying her duffel bag and med kit. Almost silently she set down her bags and quickly began rummaging through her duffel bag until she found a Katana in a plain sheath. calmly she placed it on her new bed. Next she pulled out one exercise uniform and placed that on the bed as well. She then asked quietly "Misato how are we going to handle the lockers...I mean i can keep everything in my bag if its too much trouble."
