RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 2.0] Rescue with a side order of Calamari

“Hai!” said Silic, raising his metal fist. “The search part is understandable, but assuming the ship is still intact, are our small fighters expected to recover it, and how? Strap a tow cable on there, Chief?” he asked, indeed not looking especially happy at the prospect.
 
Atsui smirked, "We are not concerned with recovering the ship. The information and crew are the priorities. Each search group will have a T7 Shuttle escorting. The shuttle's mission will be to transport whatever crew members may still be alive. Our fighters will protect the shuttle and if necessary provide ground support. "
 
Yaeko followed Ira to the briefing room, heart pumping faster than a race horse. She listened to the briefing as a million things ran through her mind. She figured that they would leave immediately, and was suprised that they wasted time with questions. "With all do respect ma'am, time is of essence. I suggest we suit up immediately and take care of questions on our way there."
 
Atsui looked at Yaeko, "I'm aware of our time table, we will not arrive at our destination for another 30 minutes." she said curtly.

"Our fighters are being prepped and moved into launch position. We are going in loaded heavy. Unless there are any more questions, let's suit up and mount up."
 
"Ma'am, I'm not aware of any assignment I may have. Will I be piloting or will I be an EWO -- if an EWO, to whom?" Lynn asked as quietly as was acceptable and loud enough to be heard.
 
Ira stood by and let the questions fire off at Atsui. A few were questions he would have addressed, but the ever inquisitive members of the 21st squadrons took care of that little bit for him. Ira calmly walked over to where Silic was sitting“Vas-Hei. Now is not the time for your bullshit.” He said referring to Silics use of the word “Chief” when addressing his commanding officer. “Disrespect my Commanding Officer again and see what happens.” Ira said shifting a hard glare at him.

Ira would then loom over Silic for a few moments more, then walk back over, standing next to Atsui as she resumed her briefing. Other then that little hiccup Ira continued listening in, taking in as much of the information that was presented to them.
 
Nobutora's eyes locked onto the Shoi as if he had been painted with a targeting laser. The typically more informal environs of SAINT and the intelligence community in general hadn't given him a great deal of insight into typical superior-subordinate relationships, but he had always been impressed by officers who took the “praise in public, discipline in private” approach to heart. Still, it was hardly as if the actions indicated disloyalty to the Empire. The edges of his mouth worked slightly upwards in the beginnings of a smile; he was happy that he could find at least a little amusement in his new assignment.

He quickly returned to his normal seriousness, however, as he reflected upon the briefing. Not for the first time, he was grateful to have been assigned a SAINT variant Teisatsu. If anything was going to let them find the downed ship's crew it was the 1c's enhanced sensor package. Without noticing, his right foot started tapping lightly on the deck; he was anxious to for the briefing to wrap up and to get on with the mission.
 
Atsui watched Ira dealing with Silic. Need to speak to him, give him some pointers. After all he's new to his position. she thought.

"Yagami-Hei, you're rear seat in my fighter. I've posted the roster, so check it when you get to your fighters. Dismissed."
 
Silic could only watch Ramirez as he walked away, he hadn't been asked a question, as the officer walked away Silics head followed him. Eventually he turned back to the front, “What the hell was that about?” he said quietly. Tough love was part and parcel to Nepleslians, but it usually helped if you told them what they were in trouble for.

As he stood up to leave he turned to Lynn for a second “Hey~” he said companionably “Flying with the CO, congratulations on your small promotion, kiddo.” smiling, before walking off to get suited up. As he entered the corridor a helpful little arrow sprouted on the wall, showing him where to turn “Alright, I get it!” he muttered.
 
Yaeko bowed and took off. She went over to where her flight suit was stored and quickly threw it on over her clothes. Then she sprinted over to the hanger. Since her first one was scrap, it was a good feeling to see a brand new fighter with her 41 painted on it. She jogged over to it, thre open the cockpit, and jumped in. She held it open and called out behind her, "Tin Man, let's get some action!"
 
With the instructions to go suit up Ira was behind the rest of the squadron, heading down to his locker. He tapped Silic on the back to get his attention. When Silic turned around he would be presented with the image of Ira standing there with an offering of a cigarette in his fingers. Smoking was illegal in Yamatai, but when you were getting ready to go off to a mission and possibly not return the thought became rather moot. Plus Nepeleslians needed to stick together.

“Just looking out for you.” Ira would say calmly. Ira would then break off the fraternization and head down to his locker, where he would strip his clothes off. Ira would then put his flight suit on. He would then waste no time heading down to the flight deck as he pulled his data pad out and began checking the flight roster.
 
Atsui watched the members leave the briefing room. She then downloaded their authorization codes to squadron fighters, and logged off the terminal. She walked briskly down the passageway to the locker room. She walked over to her locker and opened it. She removed her belt with her NSP and laid it on the bench. Then she proceeded to remove her uniform and hang it up in the locker.

Atsui then took out her flightsuit and put it on. After ensuring that it was positioned properly, she secured it and put her belt back on with her sidearm. With her helmet tucked under her arm and gloves in hand she made her way to the hangar deck.

Atsui approached her fighter and saw Sekai finishing the prep.

"Your fighter is prepped and ready to to go Solitaire, Good Hunting." Sekai said bowing as the commander approached the fighter.

"Thanks Sekai, from how things are starting, I doubt it will be long before we run into trouble." Atsui side as she climbed up the ladder and settled into her seat. She noticed the absence of Lynn in the EWO seat and wondered. Where is Hoshi? as she began her prelaunch checklist.
 
Lynn was the last into the launch bay; She changed into her flight suit, and practically leaped to get into her seat behind Atsui.

"Hoshi here -- wait one..." She began running her end of the flight list.

"Eto... 'Hoshi'... ID 370......" She mumbled all of the steps of getting her menus the way she liked them, which allowed her the ability to hotkey whatever items she wanted to use at a whim.

"Flightboard green! We're ready to go whenever you are, Ma'am!" Lynn called dutifully.
 
Silic was getting into his flight suit as fast as humanely possible, he'd closed up his suit and was pulling his helmet on to make sure it still fitted when Ira tapped him on the shoulder. After the Shoi said his piece Silic raised and eyebrow quizzically at the man's back, “Duly noted, sir.” he said in his native tongue. Silic had very simple rules when dealing with officers, one was not to talk unless asked a question, he suddenly wondered why he was feeling so light headed. The helmet was still covering his face!

Connecting to the oxygen supply, his helmet pressurised as Yaeko ran out the door, Silic slapped his locker closed and followed as best he could. The lithe Neko easily out pacing the weighed down Nepleslian, as she called out to him from the cockpit he tried to shout back, but it came out with more wheeze than he'd wanted “Hold on, Young Buck. Not as spritely as I once was.”

Finally he legged it up the ladder, and plopped down into his seat. Breathing heavily as he turned on his console, green lights began filling the diagnostics. “Everything looks good from here.”
 
As each of the Fight Diamond Fighters reported ready, they began moving on their pallet to the launch bay.

As Atsui and Lynn's fighter started moving, she hit the switch to close the canopy. She watched it close and listened to the mechanisms securing it in place. A brief hiss came from the environmental as the cabin pressurized.

"Hoshi, you will find what data we have on Rabbit Hole in the computer, transfer it to the other fighters." She said out loud, then pressing her mic-switch "Okay Diamonds, as soon as the Heitan drops out of fold we launch on my mark."

In preparation the outer doors to the launch bay began to open.
 
After the briefing, Saori ran with the pack who went off to go get changed for the mission. Finishing the pre-flight she had run through prior to the briefing, she clambered up to the cockpit and got strapped in.

Once properly seated in her fighter and the cockpit canopy closed, she took a few deep breaths and calmed her shaking hands before preparing for take-off.
 
Nobutora missed the fact that his fighter was moving for a moment, focused as he was on the internal diagnostics he was running. He knew the plane captains and crew chiefs were more than competent at inspecting and preparing his fighter, but he wanted every sensor system calibrated perfectly. Still, there as a point at which his efforts weren't doing any more to help, so he shut down the diagnostics and settled in for the launch. Glancing once more at his preflight checklist, he triggered his helmet mic. “0101, standing by for launch on your mark.”
 
Ira slapped his helmet on and swiftly climbed into his fighter Ira began running a diagnostics over his system, and as usual, everything was in impeccable condition. Ira looked down just below his consol, and gazed into a picture of himself and his extended family when he was younger.

Ira shut down his diagnostics and responded to Atsui’s command. “Copy that Solitaire.” “0101.” Ira then paused, and corrected him self after he was sure he had Nobutora’s attention “Sage, I’m your wing man on this one.”
 
Once Silic had climbed in Yaeko closed the cockpit and moved the fighter into launch position. She did a quick systems check before reporting in. "0041, Munkata-Vas, ready to launch." Yaeko watched as the launch bay opened and the sight of mid-fold could be seen. She set the engines into standby and turned her head around a bit. "You ready back there?"
 
Silic peeked around his console, “That a trick question?” he replied, tightening his seat harness at the shoulders. Obviously he wasn't risking a repeat of last time.
