YSS Kaiyō II
Wardroom
Hoshi looked from her XO to the newly promoted Belmont. Hoshi sent a quick message to Eden, then Eden sent one of her own:
"To: Taii Ketsurui Aiko
Re: Mission Briefing
Please join us in the wardroom if you are not already here, Ketsurui-taii.
Signed,
Chusa Teien Eden"
"Belmont... Taii. Belmont-taii," Hoshi said, loosely at first as she quite loudly let the words together roll around her tongue, then crisply with a ringing severity. "Nobody said what your role would be this mission, in particular. Your new rank befits, what, a captain of a gunship, am I right. In fact, Chusa Teien Eden here started her career aboard the Kaiyō namesake on the first ship as a Taii and as that ship's captain. You, Belmont-taii can use a rank flag now -for the first time!" Hoshi had begun pacing the room, looking at anyone but Alastair, but looking at everyone else very deeply as she spoke, taking in the new faces, those of the veterans to the ship and, still, looking at those that were less green to the ship. She spoke still with a growing urgency and clasped pink hands fitted snugly at the small of her back behind her prowling path.
"What else can a Taii do, besides command a ship like this, like the Fuji-class YSS Kaiyō II? I'll tell you all, before anyone goes back to the rank flag, we got him one and it is waiting for Belmont-taii in his quarters. Before you say command an escort, we don't have one of those, we really don't, yet. And before anyone says command a cargo ship... Please don't, how boring... For him?" Hoshi finally adressed Alastair by pointing at him, just a few feet away but barely inches from her extended index finger. "No, no..." Hoshi murmured as she lowered her arm and drew nearer Alastair with a drawling tone that was uber slow compared to her ambush-tactic speech from earlier. "We don't have anything to really let him do but command the ship. This one. Hoshi pointed down, her hand lit by the glow from the Zesuaium window on the floor of the wardroom and the nearby system's warm pulse shone on her paled pink skin before she brought her hand back up to her hip.
Starting in a whisper, Hoshi said near the newly promoted officer so hopefully him and the best and closest listeners could hear, Hoshi went on.
"I think you act like a slave enough as it is, don't you, Belmont-taii?" She chuckled and spoke louder, "What do you say, will you command a ship for a mission? I need to go planet-side and you need to sink or swim. The fewer crew for you to kill, the better, but I will try to not leave you with a skeleton crew. Thankfully I can pull Chlorate-hei and Deio-heisho will take care of weapons for you, besides for that big pointy part of the ship. The aether array, Grav's got as usual. If you have her fire it for good reason, you might get a gold star on your record, Taii."
