RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.0] - Out of the Mist

Ira dashed up to the tree trunk, and planted him self right next to Silic. His uniform with filthy, and he clearly had blood trickling down the left side of his head.

Ira had his side arm drawn, but was hiding behind cover next to Silic. He nodded at Silic. "Let me guess, we are getting surrounded and the situation is looking grim?"

Yaeko's first shot was rewarded with a scream, "I'm hit." as her first target fell back into the brush. The second one fell forward from the brush landing in the stream face down.

-----------------

When Silic pulled the trigger of his shotgun, a gout of flame some 10 meters long erupted from the barrel. The flames subsided after a few seconds. The flames had the effect of setting the foliage on the other side of the stream ablaze. Those enemy on the other side not ducking from the flame, started firing at Silic's location rather than the LUT

-----------------

When the shooting started, Lynn did the smartest thing she could. She ducked down, put the LUT in reverse and hit the throttle. The sound of bullets ricocheting off the truck motivating her to keep it moving.

Silic was momentarily stunned by the eruption of flame, the after image getting stuck in his eyes. He pulled back around behind the tree and shook his head clear before turning to Ira. “Well, compared to how you're looking, things are just dandy.” he said, looking the other Nepleslian up and down. He flinched reflexively as enemy bullets started chipping away at the trunk on his side.

Lynn kept it going.

Her foot hammered into the gas pedal as she prayed for a safe return back into the hands of her squadron. Even with that old man to torture her. He was at least better than the enemy.

Yaeok grinned at the flames coming from somewhere below her. I like that. She continued to take aim, firing at whichever enemies she saw. After a few more shots, she heard a faint click. "God damn these small magazines!" She screamed as she pulled out the clip, letting it fall to the forest floor, and slamming another one into the gun.

Ira did not flinch, but he did make an effort to conceal his body from getting hit by a lucky shot. Ira waited for a quick moment, then leaned out, and sent three rounds right back at who ever it was firing on to his tree stump.

Ira would pull back in and cover once again. "But not Dandy enough for you to fire that thing." He said smiling at Silic.

“Oh yeah?” replied Silic, raising to the bait and pumping his shotgun “Watch this!” he quickly leaned around his side of the trunk and squeezed the trigger again.

Ellisif waited for the order to fire but hearing her comerades go loud all around her she eventually assumed she had simply missed it. Zeroing her sights on one of the targets attracted by Silic's burst she waited patiently with her scope in his direction. She had a vague idea of what her mark was using for cover and was intent on outwaiting him. Ready to pull the trigger should his head stick out. 'So this is real combat' She thought, a disapproving scowl overcoming her face at the chaos of it all.

Ira hid behind the tree, and pulled out a ciggirette. "Now is as good a time as any." He said as he brought his face close to where one of the flames was now smoldering against the tree stump.

Ira proceeded to light his sweet tobacco product, and puffed on it as he returned fire once more.
When he recovered, he offered the small unhealthy stick to Silic who was also a fellow nep.

"You shoot like a Nepeleslian, I wonder if you can act like one too."

Atsui opened fire with her longbolt taking careful aim to make each shot count. Her target pulled back after she fired. She watched out of her peripheral vision as the LUT zoomed out of the stream, and into the brush and slamming into a tree.

Silic's second shot was not as spectacular as the first, a standard shotgun round. But it was enough to make the attacker drop back cursing.

From Yaeko's vantage she saw one of the attackers turn to flee only to be knocked through the bushes and into the stream.

Gunfire continued to pepper the tree where Silic and Ira had taken cover.

Several grenades came flying from the other side of the stream. One landed about 5 feet from Silic and Ira. Another landed beyond Ellisif and Atsui. The last one landed in the brush in front of the LUT. It went off first detonating with a whumpf and peppering the front of the vehicle with debris.

Yaeko swore under her breath as she saw what was happening. "Silic, go get Lynn!" She shouted down from the tree. From where she was, it didn't look like Lynn was going to last much longer, and she got this funny feeling that something was going to go really wrong very fast. After she took a shot or two, she reached into her belt pouch and pulled out an HE magazine, just in case. She held the magazine in her hand as she continued to fire, but was ready to throw it into her Longbolt at the slightest sign of an enemy vehicle.

Silic heard the dull thud as something hit the ground behind him, he turned and saw the dark cylinder. “Uh...”

Ira saw the grenade land, and out of pure instinct he jumped from his sitting position, and followed it. Landing face first into the dirt he grabbed the explosive device, and sent it right back where it had come from. Ira then flipped over onto his belly and duck and covered.

It was not a very good throw at all. It was a desperate attempt to keep the thing from blasting both Ira and Silic to pieces. Instead the Grenade landed in the vehicle Silic was initially checking on.

Silic watched to flight of the grenade as it started dropping back down. “Wait!” he shouted, reaching towards his car uselessly “Not the Dirteh!”

The grenade landed in the back of the LUT with an audible clunk followed by a blast as the grenade detonated. Followed by two almost simultaneous blasts as the grenades in Silic's backpack detonated. The LUT rocked back and forth and bounced from the concussion of the blast and vanished in a cloud of smoke.

Atsui grabbed Ellisif and flipped the two of the over the rock she had been using to shoot over.

Kayo snatched the grenade and tossed it. The grenade exploding just after leaving her hand. The blast from the grenade knocked the brown haired Neko backwards and she tumbled like a ragdoll.

"Holy shit!" Lynn yelped as fragments bounced off the front of her LUT.

She revved the vehicle, hoping to move it forward again. Instead, she only sent herself roaring back toward her squadronmates.

Rolled over in the dirt as she was vaulted out of cover, she scampered blindly for another perch to shoot from, hands gripped tightly on the longbolt so she wouldn't lose it. Diving to a fallen trunk she propped herself against it and started firing volley after volley of rounds at the direction of the grenadiers.

Silic's outstretched hand slowly balled into a fist and fell to his side, his face hidden behind his visor . “Sir,” he growled loudly, slowly turning towards Ira “I'm really sorry about this.” and sent the fist straight into Ira's gut hard enough to wind him.

That done, he turned around and screamed “Bastards!” towards the other side of the stream, before firing again “You have until I reach the other side o' dis stream before I just kill you all!”

Ira curled up and let out a shocked little noise as Silic's punch did its damage. SIlic made the mistake of turning around leaving Ira to recover.

Ira hopped up onto his feet(still managing to keep his head down) and glared at Silic as the man screamed loudly at the enemy. Ira would place the back of his heel across the side of Silic's head, courtesy of a full force round house kick.

Ira did not know what the penalty for striking an officer in the Star Army of Yamatai was. But he was not going to let getting struck go unanswered. Plus Silic was unstable as it seemed. It was time to incapacitate him.

Yaeko noticed the two people below her going at it, and glanced down to check out the situation. "Chui, we have a problem down there!" Yaeko turned back to her Longbolt, with a priority of taking down the people threatening the vehicle with Lynn inside. She fired several more times, and then switched out her empty magazine.
