RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.0] - Out of the Mist

Atsui looked at the image provided by Silic, it was not a promising scene to say the least.

"Circle to side of SSS personnel, and assist with firepower. Advise getting on top of one of the nearby CRDM's to give you an advantage" She sent via comm to Silic.

"Heads up Diamonds, Infirmary is possibly compromised. We'll drop our guests by the first CRDM and move in to help the scientists. I suggest getting on top of the CRDM's near the fight to give us a tactical advantage." she sent telepathically.

Lynn pulled up next to Silic, flattening herself against the wall of the prefab. The gunshots were louder, closer in, and now shouts could be heard. It was difficult to tell who was what from ground level.

"Silic-Hei, she's right. We need to get on top of a building. Should we use this one or try and get to the taller one over there?" Lynn said, gesturing to the much taller prefab structure forty yards away.

-------

The body-luggers could finally see the encampment through the mist. Gunfire lit it up like some mysterious ghost. Any keen eye would notice that it only had to have been small well-armed parties in the fray.

They were only a few seconds behind Silic and Lynn with those bodies on their shoulders and being dragged along the ground.

Kail was having the most trouble with her charge. Roots and rocks and bushes had a tendency to snatch, catch, and generally make dragging the carcass more trouble than it was worth.

Yaeko paused, surveying the scene before setting her eyes on the closest CRDM. She took a deep breath, and darted for it with all her might. Once there she dropped the body and used her anti-gravity abilities to float her way up on top. Seeing a taller CRDM closer to the fighting she anti-gravity strafed towards it, firing heavy shots towards the enemies from her NSP as she went.

Silic closed his communicator and and tucked it back into his belt, he looked around to where Lynn was pointing in time to see Yaeko jet her way on top of it. So much for that. “Looks like someone got there ahead of us.” he said wirly “Bloody show-off pilots.”

He took one last peek at the infirmary before turning around to Lynn, tucking his gun under his arm and cupping his hands. “You're going topside, I might get mistaken for an enemy with this gun. I'm going to check out the infirmary.”

The interior of the Infirmary was a mess. There were three SSS personnel on the floor. The front of their distinctive brown uniforms covered in blood with more blood pooling beneath them. Two of them still had their weapon holstered, and the one furthest back had their weapon in their hand. The supply cabinets were open and the contents rifled through as though someone looted them.

The gunfire from the woods began to wither, with the hostiles waiting for the SSS Security to fire to get a target. As the squadron members moved into position two more of the security went down.

It took a bit of a log-throw, but Silic managed to lift Lynn high enough that she was able to scramble the rest of the way on top of the CDRM. He got his weapon back in his hands, and walked into the Infirmary with caution. Looking around at the scene as he moved through the mess, he also looked up at the ceiling.

“Star Army.” he said, softly “Anyone still alive in here?”

Lynn layed herself flat on the CRDM, looking for enemies. Her NSP was up and ready. As Silic disappeared, a flicker of worry crossed her thoughts. But she quickly banished it.

He would be alright. Wouldn't he?

From Lynn's vantage point, she could see a silhouette moving to the left in the mist along the tree line. Whomever it was, they were carrying something larger than an NSP. The figure stopped along side a tree and brought the weapon up as if to brace it against the tree.

-------------------------------

The only sound that Silic heard was the soft whir of some of the equipment in the CRDM, punctuated by the occasional snap and crackle of damaged equipment and wiring.

“Hello?” Silic tried one last time, looking around. Nothing.

Silic took a deep breath, and gave a shuddering exhale. His adrenaline high was ending, he was starting to feel his own mortality again. He shook his head quickly, he couldn't afford any more screw-ups. He knelt down to check each of the bodies, his morality forcing him to make sure; keeping half an eye out for any thing that might help him scattered on the floor.

Seeing the others moving to the infirmary, Yaeko floated back on top of it. From there she crouched and double-checked that her safety was on. From here she would act as a guard and lookout for the others to make sure that they weren't ambushed or surprise attacked.

Kail moved forward, silently gliding up to the top of the second CDRM, then lying down, making herself as small a target as possible. The Neko Squinted, ordering her OS to shut of secondary functions and divert her energy and bloodflow to her eyes, ears, and arms, ensuring that her body would be as prepared as possible to fire when she needed to.

Inside the Infirmary, Silic looked up at the duel thuds from the ceiling, followed by a slightly louder thud, then shuffling. He slowly moved sideways from his crouch beside one of the bodies, his trigger hand carefully moving to regain its grip on the weapon.

“What was that?” he whispered to himself, moving low and slow through the CDRM, he slowly brought the weapon up to the ceiling where he last heard the sounds.

As Silic looked up at the ceiling he caught movement from behind the hemosynth tube in his peripheral vision. Something brown was moving over there, and what ever it was just coughed.

--------------------------------------------

From on top of the CRDM's the squadron could see what was going on better, a breeze from the west was dissipating it. Several members of the Security for the Expedition we moving forward to try to take down the attackers. When the attackers started firing at the security team, they took shelter behind several cargo containers. But the SSS team was effectively pinned down by the hostiles, who emboldened by the SSS team's situation moved forward.

Acting on her paranoid, reckless behavior, Yaeko flipped her NSP to heavy mode. Aiming at the cargo containers that the enemies were hiding behind, she rapidly fired twice, one shot at the left side of the containers and the other at the right. She then crouched and prepared to spring away from her position, afraid that her shots may end up drawing the enemies towards them. "Heads up, SSS team pinned down. Possibility of enemies heading out way. Current positions: Hoshi and Tarrim-Juni, atop two separate CRDMs. Myself, atop the infirmary, stationed above the door. Tin Man, inside the infirmary. She glanced around confused. Cutter, Kohosei, and Solitaire: positions unknown.

Silic jerked around at the hemosynth tube, gun held ready near his shoulder, trigger-finger itchy.

“Oi! You!” He shouted, “Get outta there!” He bounced on the balls of his feet unconsciously, ready to bolt. His brain might not want to run, but his legs would.

Silic found himself starting at a large tawny colored cat, was 65 centimeters tall at the shoulders, and about 2.3 in length long nose to tail. It regarded Silic with wary eyes as he was between it and the doorway. 85 kgs of wild predator who most likely had been attracted to the scent of blood was now looking at a threat.

--------------------------------------------------------

Atsui after hearing Silics first report had deposited her prisoner by a CRDM, and had Yoshi come with her circling around the encampment. From her current position she could see the hostiles and thanks to Yaeko's gun fire had them clearly in her sights.

"Solitaire and Cutter are on hostiles nine. Fox Two" She sent telepathically, as they both fired. Three of the hostiles dropped as they were caught in the crossfire of Yaeko, Atsui and Yoshi. That left three and they were now trying to see who was attacking them from their flank.

Yaeko grinned at her success and the flipped her NSP to stun mode. Might as well take more prisoners while we're at it. Gives us a better chance of getting one that knows something. She fired three or four times, all aimed at the left of the three enemies. She then quickly fired one shot at each of the other two. This way, it would at least guarantee that one of the targets would be stunned, and a possibility of two more.

Lynn said:
Yaeko-Hei, I'm moving into the infirmary to support Silic-hei. He may need help -- I heard shouting a second ago.

With her message sent, Lynn dropped down, sacrificing her heightened field of view next to the infirmary to be able to proceed and help her squadron-mate. She carefully sidled up to the wall next to the front entrance to peek around the corner.

She sent another message -- this time to Silic's communicator.

Code:
FROM: Yagami Lynn - Ittô Hei
TO: Vas Silic - Ittô Hei
Subject: Need some help?

I'm moving into the infirmary. So don't shoot me, you idiot.

-Lynn

With a slow breath, Lynn swung around and padded through the doorway with her NSP up and set on 'Pulse'.

ON

Lynn's foot made a soft 'tap' as it hit the ground. The entrance into the infirmary was behind her, the mist slipping in slowly.

"Silic? Where are you, you idiot?" She grumbled, looking around.

From deeper inside the CDRM came a burst of gunfire, followed by a pitched scream and series of crashes. Silic appeared from around a bank of hemosynth tanks running as fast as his legs could carry him, he slowed down long enough to throw a set of shelves behind him before charging straight towards the exit, and Lynn.

Lynn's eyes widened and the NSP came up so she could see down the sights. "What the hell is happeni --" She was cut off as Silic leaned down and scooped her over his shoulder, never stopping his insane speed. Behind him Lynn could make out a light shape slip past the hasty barrier with ease, and hone in on them.

As he exploded out of the prefab building he screamed at the top of his lungs "You see it?! Shoot it! Shoot it!!" Ignoring the continuing gunfight he carried Lynn straight between the two forces, still screaming. "Fucken shoot it! Damn!"

Lynn didn't hear him, too busy screaming in pure yamataian. "BAKA! BAKA! BAKA! BAKA!* FOOL! BAKA! NO! PUT ME DOWN!"

But without being told, she was already firing wildly at the trailing wild cat behind them that yowled its fury.

OFF

*Note: Baka is the Japanese word that roughly means Idiot. We have no excuses...

Atsui was preparing to fire again at the attackers when her attention was distracted by the sound of Silic's voice shattering the night. She was struck with a moment of disbelief as Silic sprinted through the middle of combatants with Lynn flung unceremoniously over his shoulder, her ass highlighted by the moon light.

Their path was illuminated by the repeated NSP fire as Lynn continued to attempt to shoot at something behind them. The lean swift form of cougar emerged moving in a natural zig zag pattern, wether it was its natural agility, or Lynn nonviable firing position bouncing with Silic's steps, the cougar was unharmed. Once clear of the CRDM's it broke to the right and put on a burst of speed and vanished into the woods.

If it all had not just happened in the middle of a gunfight Atsui would have given herself over to laughter. Instead she used the distraction of a woman being carried yelling "Baka baka" past the other hostiles to shoot at them, along with Cutter. Between Yaeko's shots and their own. The last of the hostiles were down.

"Clear." she called out, and cautiously made her way to the hostiles. When she got close enough to one that was still alive, she knocked his weapon away with his foot.

"Munkata-Hei, kindly go and retrieve those two." She said pointing her weapon in the direction Silic and Lynn had crashed into the woods.
