RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.1] Menace in the dark

Errowyn stopped twirling her drink and took a sip, watching Elisto go get a refill. She was abit envious of him as he had experience in his chosen feild where all she had was the time she left the pod as a combat pilot for the Kawarines. ~~he would make a good ECW Officer and with me at the controls...~~

She sent a quick texted message to Scrambler while Elisto was gone from the table.

Scrambler,
Naw, You can be my wingman. You do a better job of covering my tail than me covering your's. I can't seam to cover mine very well. It's been a pleasure flying under your command.
Dreamchaser

"You wouldn't mind flying again?" Errowyn looking up at Elisto as he sat down again across from her.

A smile cracked across Elisto's face as he set his glass aside. "I'd love to fly again, to be behind the controls of... well.. anything really," he shrugged his shoulders. It didn't matter to him whether he flew a fighter, shuttle or a large capital ship, he had experience on all of them. "Though flying a gunship is a whole lot different than flying a fighter," he said wearily.

Errowyn fidgets abit as she looks at her glass, ears wilting abit, softly, "It all depends on where ya going. If you end up with the 21rst... I could use an ECW Officer aboard the Kawarime I fly...."

Glancing up at Elisto through her hair that shifted to lightly cover her face.

"That's actually my aim to be honest," Elisto smiled weakly, he wasn't entirely certain he should explain anymore than that since it was rather rare for a SAINT operative to be in a fighter since they usually served onboard larger ships as bridge staff, though he knew from talking with others that they weren't that well liked by other soldiers, both enlisted and officer ranks.

Elisto could see why though, having studied a bit of Saints past as required for him. Though he may not approve of some of his fellow operatives methods, if it gets the job done then it has to be done. After all, there were things I had to do to apprehend criminals that my superiors never would've approved of, main reason I never told them, he grabbed his glass and empty half of it's content before setting it down. "I wouldn't mind flying ECW, though it'll greatly depend on the squadron commander, he may toss me into a recon craft due to my background," he looked amongst the cantina. "Is there anything you are curious about? I'm always up for answering questions," he gave her a knowing smile and looked straight at her, if it wasn't for his uniform and military demenure, someone could say that he was acting like a curious child.

Telling her that it's rare for Saint to be in fighters, and also, that we aren't that well liked, would rattle her revolve and make her uncomfortable, so in the interests of keeping her on her toes and on the straight and narrow, I'll keep that information to myself.

Errowyn nodded as she took a sip of her drink, also glanced around as she gave his answer some thought, noticing that the place had emptied out a lot, leaving a lot of vacant tables around them. "Fighters are usually equiped with a good scanner package and are usually assigned for more indepth scouting than your bigger ships of the fleet and better armed than recon ships. And a lot faster," smiled widely at him. "But then ..." giving a soft exhale sigh, "...The powers that be...know better than front line troops."

She looked thoughtful wondering if that was a brush off, but then she still didn't know his final destination and wondering when the Ship will arrive at her destination.

"Most question I'd ask would get me in trouble," Eyes sparkled with mischief, "or I'm not suppose to tell you or I'll have to kill you after I've answered them. ... Still haven't told me why you was on the Akagane in the first place." then held up her hand to forstall him briefly. "unless it was an assignment you aint suppose to talk about other than the contact we encountered in the rescue of the frieghter."

Elisto shrugged his shoulders in bafflement. "Was never told the reason for my being assigned to the Akagane, I can only make assumptions and assumptions can get people in trouble," he said and then lowered his head. For all I know, the captain requested a Saint presence, was it possible he was curious about possible intrusion or could it be that something just didn't seem right to him? Elisto raised an eye-brow and looked off the side, it was obvious he was thinking of something.

"Either way, feel free to ask questions, I'll answer them as best as I can and if I can't I'll just let ya know," Elisto took a sip of his drink and said a moment later. "After all, 'if' it gets to the point of you and I serving together, it'd be best to know more about each other yes?" he offered.

"There isn't much to tell....Test and more test and flying and more flying..and more tests..." Errowyn spoke softly, abit embarrassed about her short history. "I awoke up and then it was nothing but test one right after another." Looking up at him. "I'm a Neko Series 29 neg E. I had to be better than the rest or...." letting the sentence hang.

Expression softens, eyes become haunted, looking at her glass before her with both hands around it.

"And you will be better, don't sell yourself short. Every mission you take part in, makes you better, stronger, more experienced. Every enemy you face teaches you something about yourself, and something about the situation," said Elisto knowingly, he was speaking more like father to a child and he wasn't even noticing it. "Just listen, pay attention and have patience and you'll go a long way," he grabbed his drink and looked at the contents inside then took a small sip.

He saw the people in the cantina had gotten a lot less than before and it made him somewhat curious where everyone was. His mind went back to the book and knife he had on him, stashed on his person just out of sight for anyone to notice. Though he didn't look, he had positioned both items inside of his clothing so that if someone 'did' try and take them, however foolish that endevour would've been, he'd know about it.

Will start trying to figure out that book tonight, but I know it'll be a long term job, or perhaps 'assignment' would be the proper word for it, he thought for a moment then turend his attention back to Errowyn.

"Then again...." Elisto began to rub his chin thoughtfully.

"Attention Infantry Squads 3, 5, 11. Report to the hangar deck immediately with full loadout." Came across the speakers in the Cantina, a number of the other guests got up and left quickly.

The Yamato dropped out of hyperspace with a slight shudder. A minute later it moved back into FTL using its CDD to respond to a mayday.

Cantina :: Yamato

Errowyn blinked and became all businessas the call for the troops and then shortly the ship exiting FTL. She was halfway out of her seat before realizing she was relieved of duty till farther notice.

She settled back in her seat, looking disappointed as the ship resumed it's FTL flight, turning her attention to Elisto. "Yeah, I made it this far," She smiled showing teeth in a friendly manner. Quickly finishing off her orange juice. Ears perked and twitching to hear that subtle sounds that signals threat.

"Never a dull moment on a warship," Errowyn smiled again. Seeing his movements and catching something shifting under his tunic, "whatcha got there?" Softly, just loud enough for him to hear.

Elisto's thoughts were interrupted when he felt the ships sudden deceleration and the course changing, he often hated how his body was so accustomed to even the slightest change no matter whether the ship was only starting to move or coming out of FTL.

He glanced partly up at the ceiling, and then at the retreating forms of the people who had been called. "True, but..." he tapped his lower chin in thought.

Then he heard Errowyns quesiton and glanced at his tunic and realized that while he had tried to hide the items well, it wasn't well enough. A blunder he'd have to ractify later, he rubbed his chin for a moment and pondered whether he should show her the knife which was the item closest to his hand right now.

"They are items from the Akagane, but otherwise I can't really discuss them, sorry," he said apologetically and then shook his head. "I was going to contact the Taisa and ask if he needs any additioanl help, I believe you serve on this ship yes?" he asked as he began to write up a text message to the Taisa.

"It's what you call, Tempory Duty while in transit to my assigned unit. They needed pilots and I needed to keep up on the current tactics and stragities of the fleet in general." Errowyn shrugged as she relaxed back in her seat. "Kawarimes that the fleet uses are way different than the Trainers we used in testing, even though they are same ship in design. But their payload and handling is different." Looking thoughtful. "Its like trying to run in water and then on open ground. Vasly different, only you have to worry about the three different cardinal directions. front and back, up and down, left and right."

She smiled abit, "At least I have experience in flying an actual fighter with proper payload put to good use. And flying solo without an ECW is a lot harder than I expected it to be." She resumed playing with the empty glass, "I just got to work on my battle focus. Even though I am rated to fly solo, I'd rather take any and all advantage I can get to the success of my mission." then to herself added ~~I dont want to be terminated...~~

Haunted look flashed across her features breifly, eyes darting down to the glass in her hands, then back up to Elisto. "So the offer is open if you get assigned to the 21rst. At least it'll get you out of the office once in awhile."

She fidgeted noticeably as she sat there, glancing at the doorway briefly, expecting the ship police come barging in to arrest her for not being at her duty station.

A sly grin fell across Elisto's face. "Sound's to me like you are craving to go back out," he stared straight into her eyes as he said this.

Code:
Ikeda-Taisa? Tereane Elisto-Itto Hei here, my apologies for disturbing you but is there anything that Yumeoibito-Hei and myself can assist with sir?

"Despite being born on the ground, I dislike it. Prefer space to be honest, feels more free, relaxed, open. Groundside just feels restricted, like I'm being constrained by an invisible force," he spoke fluently and without pause.

He then looked toward the cantina's walls and took a sip of his drink while waiting for a reply from the Taisa. She seem's to know precisely what to do, she may be a -hei but she doesn't sound inexperienced, he thought warmly and then looked back at the girl.

"Harder because you gotta handle two different systems at once and you're attention becomes divided between the two."

Errwoyn nodded, as she thought to herself once more, ~~ if there is a spiritual being out there, let him be chosen as my second...~~ Then softly, "yeah... it doesn't help when lives are payment for misdirected attention."

"Flying represents the ultimate in freedom. Gives dreams a chance to fly and goals to be set at lofty heights to strive for." in a soft singsong voice, quoting from a stray book she had found and read during her offtime that someone had misplaced. "Combat is the ultimate challenge to be worthy to live and prove your bravery...or as some say... Stupidity."

Shifting to the edge of her seat, "excuse me," lifting her empty glass as she nodded to the bar as she stood up. She went to the bar and gotten a refill and returned to her seat, settling back down.

Elisto drank the last of his drink and set the cup down. "Looks like we aren't needed at the moment," he said to his fellow -hei in response to his text message.

He stared at the message, seeing the mention of their squad currently on the ground performing a rescue operation of sorts. "Wish I had brought Ezekiel along..." he thought aloud by accident.

Errowyn looked at him in puzzlement, "Ezekiel?" Softy spoke as she lifted the glass to drink, yet paused in lifting the glass. "Whose that? Your partner?" Look of disappoinment flickered across her face as she probaly lost him as ECW partner.

Elisto stared thoughtlessly for a moment, but he heard Errowyns question and the subsequent expression that followed afterwords. "In a way yes, but not in the way you are probably thinking. Ezekiel is the name of a custom made weapon I used back on the force," he said and was about to take a sip from his drink when he realized there was nothing inside. He groaned for a bit, but then ignored that.

"It was given to me by one of my friends as a gift, when my friend was killed in action two and a half years ago, I named it Ezekiel to honor him," he let out a dejected sigh and then looked off toward the exits.

His ears perked a bit as he listened for anymore announcements

"I-I dont know what to say," Errowyn smiled again, realizing that it was a name of an object in honor of someone meaningful in Elisto's life. She knew about naming your craft as it gave it a signature that it was part of you. And to take better care of so that it wouildn't let you down when it counted..

"Maybe you can have it sent to you where ever you are stationed at." She nodded and took a drink of her juice.

From the Cantina speakers the following announcement came.
Attention pilots Tereane-Ittô Hei, Yumeoibito-Santô Hei.... Report to launch bay Beta for escort duty. Repeat. Report to launch bay Beta immediately.
