Re: Mission 3

Doshii Jun said:
Kôsuka's wry grin was small. "A space lover. I will never understand. But it is good to see you physically. I had only caught recordings of your training and traces from other Samurai who knew of you. Hardly reliable sources, I must add, but your dueling style is coming along well."

Sumaru returned her grin with a much pleased smile. "I was named after the stars; one could say I was destined to be among them." He commented with a playful chuckle. "Though I must say, I am glad that you do not share the same disposition to me as many of those resources." Then with the mention of his dueling style, he perked up a little, a very interested brow raised up at the topic of combat. "I am very happy to hear your praise; after all, Nagareboshi was initially inspired off the tale of a samurai who once took her passions and skills to create her own martial art. Though I could never master that style, I do appreciate Sora-Mai for its ascetics and deadly beauty. I would be very interested to see a master of such art in a display, or at least in a friendly duel." He added at the end, leaving the offer open to take at her leisure.

Though not all of Sumaru's attention was directly on Kôsuka, his eyes and facial features were all dedicated to their conversation. But his ears kept tabs on all the conversations in his proximity. Most importantly, the one between the Ketsurui and also the conversation about Nepleslia and it’s people or well... it’s men. As mentioned before, Sumaru never really came across a Nepleslian and was intent in learning all he could.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

"A duel?" Kôsuka laughed a little. "I am too unskilled to stand up to your abilities, Sumaru-san. Perhaps Kei or Yuri would take interest."

Neither seemed to, both looking down at their plates. "Come now, neither of you wish to duel him?"

"I am not skilled with the sword," Kei said quietly.

"I'm ... not skilled either," Yuri grumbled, not being very honest.

"Hmph ... " Kôsuka frowned. "You'll both duel him then, later."

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Kai said:
"Hey, Yuril, how are you doing tonight? You seem concerned about something."

The neko looked up from her plate to look at Kai with a curious look on her face; she quietly slurped up the pasta into her mouth and swallowed before speaking.

"I do? I'm not doing any different tonight then usual..." she twirled more pasta onto her fork, "I just feel a little out of place is all. You all have some stories to tell about your trips and I... Well I don't. Just feels odd is all."

Yuril shrugged casually and stuck the fork in her mouth.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Sanjuro, whom had remained silent through the duration of the meal, finally spoke up as Yuril finished. Although he previously had no intention of speaking unless the topic greatly interested him, her particular retort sparked familiarity within him...while everyone else seemed to have enjoyed wonderful vacations with fun and (apparently) debaucherous romps, he spent his time working.

"Not everyone has time to spend throwing caution to the wind," Sanjuro agreed, unintentionally taking Yuril's answer in the wrong direction. "Do not worry, Tsukade-Hei, I also spent my short leave finishing up important tasks I had to leave to join this crew. Paperwork for my doctorate renewal, duplicate medical reports for the Star Army medicinal offices...I was extremely busy during the leave."

The poor sod almost sounded proud. And oh how he was. It was a lot of work, after all.

"What kinds of important business did you accomplish on your break, if I may ask?" And ask he did, his eyes a fraction wider and an even smaller fraction more inquisitive than usual.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Aoiko nodded enthusiastically at Yukari's comment, though her face did not shift. 'I cannot speak highly enough of listening quietly. It is too seldom applied, and in situations like this...' She gestured, almost at the conversation itself. 'It is invaluable. I love doing it.' With that, she paused to take a bite of her dinner.

Re: Mission 3

Sanri said:
"She is a fine ship - but then, I am guilty of favoritism as it is my birthplace as well," brown-haired Sanri - sporting two pigtails at the nape of her neck - nodded respectfully to Masako. "I am not as new as Suzuka-Shosa hinted at, though. I have been around for more than a month now."

Masako could only smile cutely and nod to the sprite as she began to open her mouth to reply. The arrival of the Taisa though took more precedence that replying as the Warrant Officer turned her head to listen.

Kotori said:
"To those whom are newly arrived, I welcome you aboard the YSS Miharu. I am Ketsurui Kotori, ranked Taisa, and will be commanding you on this mission." She gestured to the food arrayed on the table. "I would invite those whom have not started eating yet" - she eyed the four samurai in particular - "to do so. Business can wait after the main dish."

Turning back to Sanri, Masako smiled again. "Of course, I remember seeing you once or twice while doing my duty," she replied as she began to take a few more bites of pasta while listening to a few more conversations around her. She couldn't help but giggle slightly at the conversation between the sprites and Yoroko. "So the infamous crush strikes again," the Warrant Officer teased as she noted the joke about Sigurd and Mara

Nyton said:
"And sex." Nyton suddenly added, looking away from his food and over to Sora. "Guns, alcohol, and sex."

Apparently, Masako had come in late to that conversation as she nearly choked on her own meal. She hoped she was able to make her motions less noticeable as she patted her chest and took a gulp of water to push her food down. She also noted Hinoto having a similar response sans the food trying to kill.

After a moment to let her stomach settle, Masako finished her pasta and moved onto the salad, this time chewing throughly. "Mizuno-san," Masako suddenly turned to the woman beside her. "I am a bit curious. How was your leave?"

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Yoroko looked back down at her plate, her face noticably redder, "Saa...." Yoroko stammered. "I went shopping at Malifur with Westwood-Hei." Yoroko said as she moved the spaghetti on her plate around aimlessly with her fork. "After that we went to his house for lunch." What are they going to think happened?!? Yoroko wondered worriedly.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Sanjuro said:
"What kinds of important business did you accomplish on your break, if I may ask?"

Yuril chewed on the helping of pasta in her mouth before she gave Sanjuro her response - though she was a tad surprised he had jumped into a "conversation" based on her own words, she knew the man didn't talk particularly often.

"I'm afraid nothing as important as what you did Sanjuro-Heisho." the neko smiled wryly, "Just a little bit of doing some hobby work is all. Some drawing and a little cooking. I didn't really make any breakthroughs or anything but... It was fun all the same.

Though I suppose I should've really made some time for some simulations during the leave, I'm a little worried that time could've been spent a little better but..."

Tsukade shrugged and decided to just smile instead.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Kai felt somewhat taken aback by being cut off by Sanjuro. Smug bastard as he was, he was usually polite enough not to do that. Suddenly forgetting what he was saying, The Nakamura simply went back to working on his meal, trying to Ignore the Doctor.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Sanjuro paused, his eyes tracing Yuril's expression as if expecting something more, an additional paragraph or two. When he received nothing, his face lost that slight glimmer of interest and returned the doctor to his usual oh-so-lovable self.

"Oh."

Sanjuro didn't sound very enthusiastic.

"How interesting."

Sanjuro didn't sound very interested.

"Perhaps next time, then."

The medical officer allowed his attention to draw away back to his (rather unsatisfying) food as he spoke, seemingly losing interest in the conversation he himself initiated. Or it could be that he preferred to multitask during conversations. Sanjuro was never an easy book to read.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

With most of the people assembled having empty plates by now, Kotori stood up.

"Before I unveil the scope of our next mission, there are a few things I would like to cover first," she began. "Firstly... Kôsuka-Juni, Yuri-Hei and Kei-Hei are Ketsurui Samurai whom have come on Miharu at my request. The three are effectively standing in as infantry soldiers whom will be under the charge of Kurohoshi-Juni. Kôsuka-Juni's position maybe mostly advisory, but she also stands as the superior officer for all the other samurai on board."

Her amber eyes turned to Sumaru. "Hagasawa-Juni, you will also effectively be under Kurohoshi-Juni's command. Furthermore, starting tomorrow, you will have the standing of a Star Army officer of your rank and not that of a Ketsurui Samurai - meaning that you will be dressed in the appropriate uniform and leave any weapon representing your status as a samurai in your assigned quarters. Considerations will be granted regarding your primary duties as a bodyguard to Princess Ketsurui Sora. If you have further concerns regarding your assignment, you are to discuss these with Kôsuka-Juni or Suzuka-Shosa."

She eyed Aoiko. "Murasaki-Shoi, you will be under the authority of Suzuka-Shosa and likely have you abilities as an intelligence officer serve as a part of the ship's operation staff. Saito-Hei is already the person trained for bridge duty, so I expect you will be stationed in the sensor dome, where the communication and sensory equipment will be stronger."

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

The news didn't affect Yoroko directly, but it definetly gave her some food for thought. Hasagawa-san... Yoroko rolled the samurai's name inside of her mouth, but didn't speak it, He's here to protect Ketsurui-Kohosei...hmm. Why exactly are the other Samurai here then? Yoroko looked over at the other samurai, letting her gaze fall upon each of them before it landed last upon Kosuka.

Hmmm, protection for Kotori-Taisa? Eventually Yoroko settled on indecision, deciding to watch and determine what their reason for coming was. Will they be piloting Power Armors then? Yoroko wondered as she idly spun her fork and recalled what Kotori had said.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Kôsuka didn't speak, but she looked to Sumaru. "I will address it," she sent to him. Her eyes went back to Kotori.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Aoiko bowed politely in response to Kotori's instructions. "Hai, Taisa-sama," she said. "I will, of course, do my best to exceed your expectations."

Her attention, however, was somewhat more on her skin-vision. She quietly thanked the world for her compartmentalised mind being able to focus on several things at once, and thereby not give away her attention being directed to Sumaru. She was quite curious as to how that matter would transpire...

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

There was simply too much to describe on the internal complexities of the young samurai, though only little of this showed on his calm exterior. So thus, it's easier to simply just note that he nodded once to Kotori and mentally returned to Kôsuka with a respectful tone, "I trust this issue with you then."

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Kotori made a small pause, nodding to Aoiko and taking note of some of the glances being exchanged over the table before she continued:

"The scope of Miharu's third mission is to investigate the activities of a rogue yamataian organization named 'The Daughters of Eve' in the Bowhordia star system."

Miniature volumetric pictures of ships popped into existence over the table, showing five Sakura-class light gunships, five Nozomi-class scoutships, an Ayame-class cruiser bearing its full carrier group of four Yui-5 destroyers and four Ketsueki corvettes, a Takumi-class battlecruiser, two Mishhuvurthyar Decapitator-type gunships, two Vampire-class patrol ships, one of the newer Vale-class cruisers and finally an Horizon-class colony vessel."

"Star Army Command has proposed to send a force sufficiently powerful to wipe out the rogue organization - something I have voted against. Even if it is a desirable outcome to have the support around the criminal Eve crumble, it is doubtful we could truly disable her in a permanent fashion. Even if she is slain, the remnants of her organization would go into hiding and she would be revived from a Soul Transfer Backup. If that happens, we lose many leads as to what Eve's current machinations are."

"Currently the SAINT director of operations has given support to Miharu being the ship to handle this, seeing we have prior involvement with that particular organization. Taisho Yui has proposed the aid of five Black Spiral Plumeria-class gunships... which I have declined seeing that I trust these Daughters of Eve defectors about as far as I can throw them."

"Our operation has several objectives. The Daughters of Eve recently staged an operation in the Lor star system to steal a NovaCorp wormhole gate that they loaded up on that Horizon-class colony ship - we need to find out why. They apparently have a base of operation on one of Bowhordia's planets - it will need to be investigated for clues as well as to their whereabouts. A SAINT ship, the Sekkou, was originally the vessel whom tailed Eve's rebels to Bowhordia and has since been missing - we will need to discover what became of it and provide aid to any of its surviving crew if it is within our power."

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Aoiko's attention was suddenly very firmly back on Kotori. As she spoke, Aoiko was already in contact with the Miharu's computer, checking to see what data about Eve and the aforementioned Daughters thereof she was cleared to access. 'May I ask precisely when contact was lost with the Sekkou, Taisa-sama?' she asked, glancing over the volumetric projections.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

"The rough estimate is eighteen days ago," Kotori replied. "SAINT found a clue to the scout destroyer's whereabouts a couple of days after contact with it was lost, but it took Miharu some time to comb through the Great Southern Nebula to confirm that its destination had been the Bowhordia star."

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

Yukari did not speak. She assumed Kotori was not done, and held her questions for the moment.

Re: Mission 3: The sound of machina

"We will depart tomorrow morning, once everyone gets settled in," Kotori announced and then added, "Questions?"
