RP: YSS Aeon [Mission 5.0] Darkness and Ice

"We have it stabilized, we need to move these people fast. From the way the other team is talking time may be short. Yamamoto-Heisho, got down ahead just to make sure that no more of those creatures have returned to the chamber so we can move safely.

Okay folks, single file up to elevator door, no pushing or shoving. maintain a 3 foot interval when climbing down the shaft. If any of you have personal anti-grav descend straight down and take a fellow prisoner with you. Our shuttle is waiting on the surface to take you to our ship." Kim said to those in the hall.

Tsubei-Heisho, we have freed the prisoners and at present there is no sign of resistance. We are moving the prisoners down the shaft and then to the shuttle.
she transmitted.

----------------

The chamber above the hatch was cylindrical, about 10 feet in radius. A number of AMES or equivalent were stored in racks, a ladder ascended up toward the top some 20 meters away. There was also what appeared to be a which with a cable that was probably meant to transport stuff up. At the top of the shaft another door like the one they entered was present. There were also pressure controls which indicated that this chamber must serve as an airlock of some sort.

"Give the console a quick look over to see if it actually has any relevant information, then destroy it. If we aren't finding out what those things are down there, then we sure as hell aren't letting the Mishu off with an intact facility. Double-time!" Kyoka barked, firing a few rounds of Aether into the AMES suits. The Neko then inspected the cable to find if it had anything attached to it below.

The cable moved freely, a clear indication that there was nothing attached.

-----------------------

Meanwhile in the corridor, the prisoners were moving as swiftly as possible given their various physical conditions. However, it was not long before the last of them had entered the elevator shaft.

Yoshiro typed up the command to display what the building was used for and recorded what he saw on his drone's camera. He continued typing on the keyboard when he was prompted and was doing things as quickly as possible.

After Kyoka and Yoshiro ascended the ladder, Emiko proceeded up after them. Once they got to the cylindrical chamber above the hatch, the neko looked around and occasionally peered back down the hole from which they had come -- double checking that they weren't being followed.

There was no sign of pursuit, but the shaft was rocked by a blast shock. Apparently the NMX were finding it difficult to combat the fire. The floor that the three of them had been standing on only moments earlier collapsed and crashed to the level below in a heap of rubble.

Yoshiro pounded at the keyboard frustrated. He didn't have time to really mess around so he decided to get out of there. He left the drone to record and send him any information that he found.

"Good thing we found this spot to get out of here from." He said as heard the floor below them crashing down. He grabbed the cable and started climbing up. "I'll go up and get the door open so the rest of us can get out." He continued climbing up trying as quickly as he could to get to the top so he could get the door open.

"Tanaka-hei, what are you doing? If the door isn't open at this point, we blast it! We don't have time to climb every rope that hangs dangerously high above ground!" Kyoka barked, ascending the far less dangerous ladder to the hatch and checking if it was open. If it wasn't, she'd pump enough aether in it to power a small town and head up anyways.

"Sorry, I really just want to get out of here." He said. The fact was the sounds of the flames and things exploding were making him a bit panicky and he wanted to get out of there as fast as he could. It was all that he could do to check his rising fear but he was afraid that it might be showing already.

Trowa agreed with Kim’s suggestion and made his way down the shaft to floor below. Once he reached the ground he took a careful look around. It didn’t appear that anyone else had been through there. “Ok,” Trowa sent back to the ladies in waiting. “Looks like things are clear. Sent the first group down; I’ll cover you.”

As the ground rumbled beneath them and began to collapse down onto the level below, Emiko gave a surprised yelp and activated her armors hovering capability on reflex -- gently moving after Kyoka as she tried to open the hatch. The neko spared a glance towards the ground, which cracked and crumbled into jagged shards that fell out of sight.

Freyja Oinari was completely lost in what to do. she knew she needed to stay and help get the doors open to the cells, but she should also get to the shuttle and get it ready to launch.

instead of deciding her self she radioed Yamamoto
Code:
SIr Shouldn't I move back down to the shuttle and get it ready to transport these folks back to the ship? I might even be able to move it to a better location for loading.

Kyoka finally ascended to the the upper area, then assisted her two companions up with her.

"Now what?" She asked, surveying the surroundings.

Trowa sighed and sent a reply.

Code:
Freyja-Hei, grab a couple of prisoners and descend with them down the elevator shaft to me. Then you can go and get the shuttle ready.

Trowa sighed again and muttered under his breath, “I need a drink.”

Emiko accepted Kyoka's aid in getting herself up through the hatch more quickly and once she had done so, joined the other neko in examining their new surroundings by sweeping her gaze across the area they now found themselves in. Silently, she hoped that their group had finally reached the surface and could either call in a shuttle or use their power armor to fly back to the Aeon before the enemy base exploded with them still inside..

As the two parts of the Away team made their way out of the enemy installation by their separate means. The structure was shaken by a series of explosions. The first ones shook loose ice and debris down.

The liberated prisoners were taken to the shuttle which then lifted off to rendezvous with the Aeon.

The other group once they cleared the upper hatch, was able to take to the air and head in the direction of where the shuttle was parked. As they started to depart, the surface of the mesa mostly ice heaved upwards bulging in the center in response to some force within. It then collpased inward effectively covering the facility in debris from what was apparently a catastrophic explosion.

The Aeon having finished off the last of the fleeing ships, had returned to the Away team it hovered a thousand meters above the surface and waited their until all members had boarded. Then it streaked upwards to rejoin the squadron and depart.
