RP: YSS Aeon [Mission 5.0] Darkness and Ice

"I don't see why not. The sword might come in handy if we need to do things without a gun." Kyoka replied to Saki, putting her helmet on. Across her squad's communications, "Alright people, let's get in place! I want us out ASAP!"

At that moment the Aeon rocked from side to side and with a rolling motion. The crew only noticed it because the inertial dampeners were off at the moment.

"Keiko-Juni to Ise-Taisa, we just experienced an earthquake. Although since we're sitting on top of ice above the ground I guess you could call it an ice quake too. Epicenter was north of our position approximately 150 km. Guess we can add tectonically active to the planets data." came Gi's voice from the speakers in the armor bay.

"Right," Makoto said. He left the Elysian to join Takamori and Saki.

"You two love-birds doing okay?" he asked.

"Aside from the inclement weather, I think its a perfect day for a stroll outside," Takamori responded, ignoring the comment about love-birds.

"Right away, Tsubei-Hei." Yoshiro said and put on his helmet. He booted up his systems and made sure that they were in working order before anything else and made sure that his weapons were ready.

Kim and Josea sealed their armors and made for the door. Together they stepped through the atmospheric shield and dropped to the ice below. Once on the surface of the ice, they both did a system check. Gustav then initiated a quick scan with his science scanner. "All systems go Shina-Heisho. Negative life signs within sensor range. As expected the environment is limiting how far the scanner can reach." Josea said.

Arkase dropped in behind the pair, scanning with his AIES for hostiles. He was ready, this time, for anything. There would be no sleeping through another mission.

Saki nodded to Kyoka upon being allowed to get her sword. She literally and carefully flew to her her room and strapped her katana to her side. She was back within a minute or so. She then made sure her armour was sealed and she followed the rest of her team out.

Watching her shipmate walk away, Athena put on her helmet once more and resealed her suit. Hearing that wonderful hissing noise, she rushed towards the others and exited the ship.

The Nepleslian pilot thumped the ship’s side as he exited. Alright, this is it; a chance to prove myself with command. Don’t blow it. Trowa thought to himself. He raised his plasma rifle and swept the area. Visibility is poor and the environment is playing murder with long range scans.

Araan's eyes followed the others as they exited in order and shortly after he found himself exiting the ship as well, vaulting himself down beside Trowa. His eyes turned back upwards towards the ship for a moment, and only a moment, before he fell into ranks with the others. Earthquake, massively inclement weather, and a high chance of rubbing the NMX the wrong way. Hell, if he thought about this any more he'd really begin to like his time on the Aeon already.

"And they said infantry wouldn't see much action." He joked to himself as he followed the others closely.

Yoshiro dropped from the ship and scanned the area holding his weapon out in front of him and making sure not to sweep the barrel at anyone. He fell in with everyone else and then started using his sensors to track any movment other than their own. "God this weather is ridiculous! I can't see ten feet in front of my face." Yoshiro said to himself.

Kim looked around and switched through the Mindy's visual array. She opted for a combination of night vision to compensate for the weak light, and thermal imaging overlayed. Looking around, each of her fellow crew mates was clearly imaged by their suit thermal image.

"Gustav-San, stay behind our Infantry escort. The Taisa called it, we are about fifty miles from the objective. Tsubei-Heisho, I suggest we fly at no more than 50 miles an hour. It will afford us with the means to avoid flying into any object in this low visibility." Kim offered.

Yoshiro decided that since he was not able to see anything he changed vision modes to help him see a bit better. He activated his night vision and thermal vision to see a bit better. "Shina-Hei, what do you think we can expect as resistance if we encounter the enemy?" Yoshiro asked.

Being the new one on the ship, she had held back. Yuzuhara didn't know anyone else on the ship, although with her usual charm that would change easily.

She had previously exchanged her preferred load-out with the Infantry lead to get approval:

1 Ke-M2-P2904 Barrier Shield Module (Dorsal)
1 Ke-M2-W2905 Shoulder-Fired 50mm Gauss Cannon (Left Shoulder)
1 Ke-M2-W2906 Shoulder-Fired Missile Pod (Guided MSAP) (Right Shoulder)
2 Ke-M2-W2902 Forearm Weapons / Forearm Shield Projectors
2 NSD/Drone Hangars (Upper legs)
2 Ke-M2-G3001 Leg Capacitor (Lower legs/Paired)
Star Army Butt Pack
Ke-M2-W2909 Accelerated Plasma Rifle (w/Ke-M2-W2909-RGL 50mm Rapid Grenade Launcher (SLAG-AB)) (Handheld)

She watched her moving fingers through the helmet, as she waited for her turn to step down. Somehow this new armor didn't feel like the one that she wore during her training. While it was a different model, the way it moved was completely different. Instinctively she made a fist and checked the wrist as she turned her arm. It was something to get used to.

She was the last of the unit to leave the ship. Feeling more comfortable taking the rear-guard position. Picking up the communication chatter, she made sure to switch the visual mode of the helmet to something comfortable. The night-vision was switched to a negative color backed up with the data-overlay from the Thermal sensors.

Kim turned to face Yoshiro. "It is an NMX installation. I hardly think they are going to roll out the welcome wagon for a bunch of Star Army Soldiers.

Tsubei-Heisho will be calling the shots for your team, but as far as I'm concern. I encounter any Mishhu, or NMX soldier who is armed. They are a viable target."

She moved away from the Aeon and took a position about fifty meters to wait for the other team to move out.

Trowa glanced at the newcomer. “Well, well, looks like someone slept in and missed roll call.” His HUD tagged her as Sanada-Hei. Another newbie. Trowa thought to himself. Looks like we’re all getting broken in on this one. The Nepleslian pilot smiled, though you couldn’t see it behind his helmet, at Yuzuhara and added, “Glad to have you with us on this fine stroll through the country side.”

Trowa called up Kyoka, “Tsubei-Heisho, with your permission, I’d like to take Vis’Thraugh-Hei and scout ahead while the rest of the team is getting set.”

Ok then. I can handle that. If it is an enemy I kill it, if it is an enemy vehicle or something I blow it up. Yoshiro thought as he loaded his SLAG and fell in with his team leader, Tsubei-heisho. "I just hope I can do as well on this mission as I did on the last one." He said, nervous all of a sudden. He was going into a scary situation, well for him anyways, and he didn't know what to expect but if he did what he was told he would get through it okay and he knew that. It didn't prevent him from being nervous though.

Josea looked at his scanner readings, and turned to Kim. "Ma'am weather conditions are degrading. Wind speed is up five knots, and visibility has dropped as well."

Dropping visibility meant their laser communications would not work. She sent a command to her AIES, and adjusted her suits transmitter power to the lowest setting.

"Okay team, I do not know what is holding Tsubei-Heisho up, but we are moving out now. She can catch up with us. Eveyone with the weather worsening, LASER comm is unreliable for now. Modulate your transmitter power to 5%, that will give us five mile range with safety. Flight profile ten meters off the ground, fifty miles an hour.

Yamamoto-Heisho, take Vis'Thraugh-Hei with you, maintain a 1 klick lead on us." Kim sent over radio as she lifted off the ice surface.

Athena did not reply back in acknowledgment, just simply adjusting her subspace radio's transmission power to 5%. She already was hovering off the ice, not sure how the methane would interact with the material of her suit. While she waited to follow with the rest of her team, Athena began to think about her rather lack of interaction with her crew. Things were going to be much harder than she had originally thought.

Trowa agreed with Kim’s assessment. The clock was ticking and they needed to move. “You heard Shina-Heisho.” Trowa informed his group. “5% transmission power. Tanaka-Hei, Stamoules-Hei, watch the Science teams flanks. Sanada-Hei, cover the rear. Vis'Thraugh-Hei,” Trowa smiled behind his helmet. “Let’s go earn our pay.” The Aeon’s pilot engaged his suits thrusters and hovered off the ground. He moved off, disappearing into the methane mists like a ghost.
