RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 5.0] Special Delivery

Anne watched with amazement as Urufu rammed the enemy cruiser. She did not feel any kind of honor or respect from something like that. All she saw was waste of lives and nothing elves. Stupid war. That was thought coming through her mind at the time. She sighed and returned to formation.

Yaeko set new targets for them meanwhile and Anne would not stay behind whatever her feelings were telling her. She was not stupid, she knew she got herself into war and she wanted to do all that is in her power to protect her squadron.

"Roger Hunter, moving to engage target. Spinner out." Anne acknowledged her orders and moved in with others. She armed her second torpedo. There was still time for the attack ran so she went back to her wavefron module meanwhile.

She noticed what Elisto done to enemy and she felt respect for the man. He was so exprienced and Anne wanted to learn a lot from him. Ex-slave girl was no amateur herself though. She set her Wavefront module to echo what Elisto just did to boost his attempts.

Errowyn dove into the targeted battleship of the NMX with her aether cannon blazing as if to drill through the shields of the NMX Battleship, glancing at her tactical scanner showing the shield failure of NMX.

Soon her aether cannons were turning the hull of the NMX Battleship red till it lost it's intregity and blew hot motlen metals into the ship, creating a hull breaches to get at the systems underneath of the protective layer of the hull.

Errowyn purred as her aether cannon chewed up the hull plating, cutting a swath of destruction on the NMX Battleship and then laser tagged the weaken spots for the missiles and torpedoes to zero in on. Hoping she was marking the critical areas of the Battleship of the NMX.

"Once more into the fray." Kenshin said, turning his fighter to move with the rest of the squadron towards the enemy battleship. Arming his final aether torpedo, Kenshin began to cycle through targets upon the massive ships hull, locating critical systems for when he would attempt a strike.

Ducking and weaving his nimble fighter through the golden hail of defensive weapons fire coming from the NMX vessel, Kenshin retaliated with gunfire of his own -- sending a volley of teal blazes towards the enemy craft.

Ricky moved like a ballet dancer, making his craft quickly and accurately drift from spot to spot in an attempt to evade NMX point-defense fire. Of course, as he was doing so he couldn't help but realize that, judging by the size of the shots coming his way, the Mishu idea of "point defense" wasn't so much "light fire for taking out small enemy ships", and more along the lines of "something designed to make a Nepleslian man green with envy while his wife gets all hot and bothered". He didn't have time to laugh at the mental image that brought, however. He was far too busy trying not to die. It took up quite a bit of his time, energy, and focus in the process.

"I hate to burst any bubbles, but --" He broke, moving to dodge another round of hostile fire, still laughing nervously as he did so, "-- but I'd say we're a bit outgunned."

With that, he depressed his trigger for a seven-second burst, but didn't take time to enjoy the light-show as he quickly moved to avoid more enemy fire. In that process, he also used his free hand to arm his remaining torpedo. He continued to close in with the other Diamonds: firing sporadically with his guns, and waiting for the moment to fire his torpedo.

The battleship's shielding flared and failed when it was hit by a broad side of six Type 31 Anti-starship turrets from the YSS Heitan. The carrier lending assistance as it maneuvered into position.

The Urufu Light Cruisers were engaging other ships in the vicinity. Fighting pack style the cruisers were holding their own and making a good accounting of themselves.

Yaeko whooped when she saw the enemy's shield fail. Swinging her fighter back around for another attack run, she chimmed into the squadron channel. "Alright Diamonds, time to claim our second battleship today. Missiles away!" She proceeded to point her last missile at the enemy bridge and fired.

Elisto watched and locked on to the ship, then he fired his own missile, watching it streak out of his housing and toward the shieldless battleship. He set the missile to go right into the battleships battlepod bay, he hoped that it would go in deep enough before hitting something and exploding, the deeper it went the more deadly the explosion.

He pulled himself up a bit, but continued on an angle that allowed him to keep up his firing, then he finally pulled back in behind Yaeko to follow her.

Ricky couldn't help but feel rather happy at the battleship's shields collapsing under Yamatain bombardment. It meant the thing's hull was exposed, under risk of attack from even something as comparatively small as the fighters of the Fighting Diamonds. He then watched as his fellow pilots' fired their missiles, and he quickly picked his own target. He aimed for something that would look like it might hurt: the first opening in the ship's hull big enough for a torpedo that he saw. Locking on, he fired, and quickly moved to break away once again. Glancing around, he quickly found Yaeko, and fell in behind her (still a safe distance from her other tale, Elisto). His head was on a swivel as he flew, to keep scanning for any hostile contacts.

"Man, it's been forever since they put me in a real fight!" He smiled, "Feels good to be back in the fray, again!"

The Battleship lurched from the Heitan's barrage. Then Yaeko's torpedo slammed into the bridge of the stricken craft. The force of the torpedo shattered the hull and rendered the primary bridge non-operational.

Shii following Elisto's lead locked onto one of the targets that Errowyn had laser tagged and fired her torpedo into one of the weakened hull points.

Ricky's missile slammed into another spot at the same time. The two detonations engulfed the battleship in spheres of destructive energy. Tearing great chunks out of the hull.

As the squadron sensors adjusted for the blast effects a pair of two new targets were bearing down on them. The HUD identified them as a pair of NMX T32 Shredder Gunboats.

Errowyn glanced at the ping coming from her threat radar and it show the newest threat, a NMX T32 "Shredder" Gunboats. Glancing at the known stats of the enemy gunboat. Shje frowned as she brought up the payuload of what she had aboard her kawarime and it didn't look good.

She swung her Kawarime around and headed right for them, shooting from long range to rattle the T32's pilots. Whether they hit or not depended on the NMX pilot's skill at evading.

Over 21st freq. =/= "NMX T32's. Two each so far. Initiated contact. Hellcat." =/= Errowyn began dividing her power allotments between guns and shields, as she flew right between the two T32's at max thrust

Elisto glanced off to his side when he heard Errowyn's call and saw the shredders. "Anne-hei? Focus your field on my target, let's see if we give their friend something else to worry about," commented Elisto with a mischevious grin as he focused practically 'all' of his Friend or Foe jamming capability on 'one' of the two gunships, while keeping some of the regular communications and targetting jamming in the wide area.

"Honcho, orders ma'am?" asked Elisto, he wasn't going to engage the gunships, but that didn't mean he couldn't see about causing one of them to fire on another.

Yaeko grinned as the squadron's triumph took hold. It was short lived however, for just moments after their victory against the battleship her HUD alerted her to two bogeys incoming. She waited for intel traffic to die down before chimming in. "Alright Diamonds, everyone converge on the specified gunboat," she said as she pinged one of the two on her HUD. "Start with aether cannons." When she finished dishing out orders she banked her fighter to the side as she swung around to face the two ships, immediately firing upon the one she had pinged.

Having been totally ignored whenever he had spoken over the unit comms thus far, Ricky refrained from any wise-cracks, or nervous humurous remarks about the upcoming fight as the two enemy craft were identified approaching their formation. Instead he listened as their unit leader quickly gave out the order to attack, identifying one very specific, and very (very) unlucky Squid S.O.B. Ricky turned his craft sharply to head for the oncoming gunboats, taking aim for the one that his CO had so kindly pinged for them. Following orders to the letter, he practically smashed the trigger for his aether cannons, and attempted to obliterate the enemy ship. After all, Ricky was rather fond of living, and didn't plan on dying any time soon. Dying would be bad.

Besides, he really didn't like the idea of cloning -- or whatever it was Yamatains did when their soldiers died.

As her targeting system locked on battleship, Anne fired her last torpedo with others. She then banked up, whil firing bot her primary cannon at the the enemy ship, giving it all the damage she could, until she got of course. She then flew to get into formation with Elisto-san and others.

"How are you keeping up Wing?" She asked Kenshin. She saw at her medical monitors that everyone was okay. Well they were within the limits. Some of the squadron had higher rates, but that was because of the adrenalin in speeding through their veins from the rush of the combat.

"Anne-hei? Focus your field on my target, let's see if we give their friend something else to worry about," said Elisto, as few enemy gunship showed up. "Yes sir," she responded and linked up with Elisto aiming her wavefron at the Gunship. While she did jammed all its targeting system, she also started targeting it, with her cannons, ready to give it piece of her mind too.

Kenshin hadn't managed to get off his last torpedo due to too much defensive gunfire from the enemy battleship before it was blown. The blast-wave from the enemy vessels final death throes carried debris past his craft with startling speed, and Kenshin had to duck his fighter out of its path to avoid a collision.

At least he still had another torpedo in reserve for later on, he thought to himself. Upon receiving Anne's communique over the comms system, the young violet-haired Yamataian responded to her query with a faint grin, checking his shield gauge.

"I'm doing okay, Spinner... though, that last explosion was a little too close for comfort." Sweat beaded down his neck uncomfortably as he directed his fighter towards one of the new inbound hostiles, and began firing his aether canons at the closet enemy whilst trying to avoid its return fire.

Elisto swung his fighter around, staying to the far left of Yaeko's fighter, when he sighted up on one of the ships approuching them - he pulled the trigger and watched a stream of aetheric fire sped toward the approuching ships.

"Let's hope the jamming that Anne-hei and I are doing along with the IFF screw up's shows some results," he muttered as he made a few more fine adjustments to the jamming in an effort to screw around with the enemies targetting controls.

The squadron battle with the two gunboats was taking place along side the death throws of the NMX Battleship. Secondary and tertiary detonations were going off within the ship.

The cannons of the Kawarime were hammering the shields of the first Shredder. The task of fighting them made more difficult by the chunks of battleship that were being ejected from the dying ship. The first Shredder died in a blaze of glory under the combined assault of the squadron.

The jamming from the Tessies ensured that only one in four of the shots from the Shredders actually found their mark. The shields of the Kawarime were close to failing. A large piece of the NMX ship streaked past the squadron like a lethal comet and slammed into the second shredder. The hapless Gunboat exploded as it was carried away by the massive chunk of starship.

To: All YSS Heitan ships, and fighters.
All fighter craft return to the carrier, all ships regroup.
The enemy's attack has been broken and the Central fleet is taking care of the remainder of the ship.
All ships once at the rendezvous point, commence damage control, and forward ship status and casualty reports.

Numa-Taii

"That's why you don't mess with the Cats, son!" Ricky yelled excitedly as he saw, in rapid succession, the destruction of the two Shredder gunboats, "Who rocks? We rock!" He laughed, happily, over the comm-line.

Ricky felt rather proud about the death of the first one, having contributed to it himself, but the second one was rather funny. It was one thing to be killed by superior firepower, but it was another to be killed by a piece of ship. One was purposefully seeking out your death. The other was just -- drifting debris. However, that wasn't the point. Both of the enemy gunboats were dead and according to the message from high command: the battle was decidedly going to the Yamatain forces. Ricky looked to their squadron leader, still behind her craft, and at a distance to maintain security.

"Hey: who wants something to drink when we're done?" He asked, "My treat."

Despite his best attempts the gunfire from an enemy Shredder had occasionally found its mark -- and the defense field of his ship flashed in an eerie cascade of colors as it attempted to disperse the energy of the impacting enemy attacks. The Yamataian pilot's eyes darted to the status displays, and he saw that his shield's integrity had dropped to critical levels. His thruster systems were malfunctioning due to light damage, incurred as the powerful enemy blasts managed to bleed part-way through his shield's ability to disperse their power.

Suddenly there was a startlingly brilliant flash of light as yet another internal component of the dying adjacent NMX Battleship blew. A plume of plasma ejected another massive hunk of debris at high velocity, directly in the direction of himself and the enemy Shredder. A dull alarm screeched and a warning message appeared on his HUD as he tried to maneuver his ship out of range of the Shredder's turrets.

Code:
Proximity Alert: Collision imminent

"Holy --," Kenshin exclaimed part-way, before cutting himself off mid-sentence and forcing his formerly nimble Kawarime into a nose-drive. Maneuvering thrusters sputtered as they tried to reorient his ship, and his aether drives flared at full burn.

Whilst the shadow of the ruined hulk passed over him, Kenshin was holding his breath. Once it seemed the danger had passed, the young pilot let out a loud sigh of relief. He'd barely avoided being reduced to a pitiful cloud of vapor and scrap metal... again.

Behind him, the Shredder was not so lucky -- the battleship fragment shattered the gunboat like a rotten egg. There was a brief explosion as the ships reactor went critical, but not even the force of that blast could counter the remaining kinetic energy propelling the debris onward and out into the depths of space.

As the communiques from Numa-Taii and Ricky echoed from his comms system, Kenshin leaned back and tried to steady his breathing before attempting a response. "This is Murasaki-Hei, Zero-Zero-Niner-Six. I've received a light scorching from enemy weapons fire -- my Kawarime's maneuvering thrusters have been damaged and aren't properly responding to commands. I could probably still make a landing if it doesn't get any worse, but It might be a good idea to call in a recovery craft and tow my fighter in instead. I'd rather not have the Deck Boss coming after me with a wench for crash landing on her flight deck."

Elisto spun his fighter as he watched the first shredder go up in a ball of flames, and a gave a grin before noticing the bright flash and looking over his seat to see a large part of the battleship flying toward them. "Hello~!" he shouted to himself and pulled his fighter up just a bit, avoiding the slab with just fifteen feet to spare and watched it slam into the enemy ship.

He gave a nod of the head, while checking his onboard systems. The battle had done a bit of damage to his fighter, he was registering damage to his shield generator though it was still active, just wasn't operatin at peak effiencency. He also was noticing a slight drop in thrust and his aetheric cannons also displayed a flashing warning.
