RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 5.0] Special Delivery

Errowyn's dash between the two Shredders and plus the jamming from Elisto and the other fighter that carried such capibilities. in bringing her ship around behind the two Shredders and the view of the big Battleship literaly coming apart from at the seams with from the build up of internal pressure from the enusing explosion within the interior, ripping the ship apart and sending leathel projectiles in all directions.

Errowyn purred loudly at the sight of the second Gunship get splastered with a chunk of the battleship. hearing the recall to back to the Heitan and the yell of triumph of the new guy in the squadron.

She smiled as she manuevered her Kawarime back to the YSS Heitan, having lost the rest of the 21st.

Yaeko dodged her way around enemy fire and debris as she returned fire at the enemies. With a blaze of glory, she watched the second gunboat get torn to pieced by some debris just as their return call came in.

"I was just about to say the same thing. Besides, even if we wanted to stay there's a little too much junk flying around for that to work. All Diamonds, back to the Heitan." Yaeko proceeded to swing her Kawarime to face the Heitan as she accelerated towards the front of the squadron. "Fall into formation for our flight back to the carrier. Even if we're winning, I don't want someone sneaking up on us because we weren't lined up properly."

Yaeko then flipped to her fighter's closed comm channel. "How you doing back there Silic?"

Silic's eyes flicked up from his console, he dodged the question, replying with only. "Eyes forward."

There was something missing from the mans voice, it sounded empty, hollow. He went back to his console before continuing. "What's lining up going to do? Just makes us easier targets."

Once again feeling rather deflated at being ignored by any and all of the other members of the squadron, Ricky turned his fighter for the Heitan once again. Falling in to proper formation, he looked out to his right: through what seemed to be less than two inches of material seperating him from total vacuum. Starting his flying career as a civilian pilot in large, cumbersome vessles: it still seemed kind of surreal for the out-of-his-element pilot. Here he was, in a different nation, in a different body, with his original family many lightyears away, fighting a race of destruction-bent squids in the depths of space, and dooing so all in the comfort and fashion of a Yamatain starfighter. As much as the man loved adrenaline, it simply didn't feel right to him.

Maybe he was still too used to Nepleslia. With his fellow Neppies, anybody would have practically jumped him at the offer of free drinks.

Ricky blinked suddenly, scolding himself for letting his thoughts drift as he instantly snapped to his instruments for any unwanted or drastic changes. Adjusting for a minor shift in heading, the pilot kept his eyes around him now in expectation of a surprise ambush.

"Stay frosty, ladies and gentle-germs." Ricky remarked casually, "Personally, I don't want any squids 'installing' ventilation for my fighter."

Yaeko rolled her eyes at Silic's pessimism. "No Tin Man, it makes for more firepower. We stay in a wedge formation so that way all of us can hit a frontal target, it covers more area so that in the event of a missile a more than one fighter won't get caught in the blast radius, and it provides for a better 360 security. Seriously now, I'm a communications officer and even I knew that."

Anne was flying with everyone else, doing her best with jamming as she fired her own cannons at shredders. It did not take long for enemy gunships to die. One was destroyed by the squadron's fire, while other had unfortunate face-to-face meeting with piece of exploded battleship.

Anne's shields were damaged and there was rubble from space battle everywhere. She was giving more reasons for her codename as she needed to spin to safety from pieces of rubble.

But her wing had it worse, she listened to his report and made sure to fly to him. "I got your back Murasaki-hei," she commed to him and flew right behind of him. "This Spinner to Hunter, I would like to escort my wing. He would be easy pick with his damaged thrusters." She commed to squadron leader. If it would be possible she would give him lift like she did for Elisto-san on last mission but it was too dangerous with so much rubble.

Yaeko's argument made no sense at all, a wedge would group them together, and anyone with even basic aim could bullseye a laser designated target. Rather than argue however he simply shrugged and spoke perfectly calmly.

"Your argument made no sense, and if you ever say something like that again I will pull my ejection tab and take my chances out there."

Errowyn listened to the general chatter over the radio, frowned when one of the team was lagging abit and another was staying with him. She looked over her console, taking note of the shield generators working half capacity, aether cannons functional at 81%, no missiles or torpedoes, 3 more charges to defencive load.

She opened coms, "Hellcat heading back to lend support to Spinner," Turning her fighter back into the debri field and towards Spinner and her wingman.

Elisto kept his eye on the warning display, but kept his hands moving as he sent in various commands to his onboard computer. His thrusters flared once, then he silenced them for a moment and allowed inertia to carry him forward.

Moving his eyes to another display, he ran a diagnostic on his shield generator while also looking at his weapons system to see what was causing the warning. Then, after some time, he re-engaged his thrusters and got a green light on the thrust indicators. "Must've burned them when I was trying to avoid that debris, didn't think I hit the engines that hard," he muttered lowly to himself before lining back up into formation.

When he was confident that his fighter was ok, at least for now, what he wanted to do was respond to what Ricky had stated. The mans wants to drink? There thousands, if not ten's of thousands of dead civilians right now possibly and the man... wants to DRINK? he shook his head and scowled slightly.

To drink when there are people out here who could use the help, just doesn't seem right.

Akemi fell in with the squadron, she was doing a system check. There were a number of yellow indicators, but to her the Kawarime was still capable of landing safely.

"Honcho, Tamahagane-Nitô Hei my fighter is a bit cut up, but all vital control systems are within acceptable limits." she sent across the radio.

-------------------------------------------

Kayo relaxed her grip on her fighter controls, I made it through my first battle. she thought. She ran a system check while keeping any eye out for anything hostile.

Ahead of the squadron the beacon for the Heitan was clearly sounding. There were a number of small craft in position around the carrier to assist any damaged craft.

"All right Diamonds, let's bring it in," Yaeko called out into the comm. After a quick channel switch, she then called down to the Heitan's landing bay. "This is Munkata-Heisho of the 21st squadron, be advised that we are incoming and will be landing shortly." She then proceeded to turn the direction of her fighter towards the landing bay of the carrier.

"Once we land, I'll ask the Taii if I can take a shuttle out to recover pods," said Elisto as he lined his fighter up with Yaeko's, he glanced off to his side, the warning light over his aetheric cannons had settled down now. A diagnostic showed a slight misalignment in the cannon itself but now that he had the cannons offline for the time being, he didn't have to worry about them, and even if he had to bring them up, he could just bring one online while keeping the other offline temporarily.

His attention, however, was quickly drawn to a sudden klaxon blur that screamed into his headset, causing him to look at his displays to see an alarm over his wavefront generator. The warning was related to the modules internal generator, used to calibrate the interference waves and also to project them.

Before he could investigate what was wrong however, he felt his fighter rock suddenly and could hear an explosion somewhere nearby. The warning alarm on his display changed from showing a fault in the module, to now displaying a damage indicater on his portside. What Elisto couldn't see, was that his wavefront module had just exploded on his portside.

"Thanks for the assist guys." Kenshin said to his wing-mate's -- his gratitude immediately apparent from the tone of his voice. "I'll try not to slow you down too much."

Kenshin cut his fighters main drives to zero thrust, whilst he tried and failed for about 20 seconds to orient his craft in the direction of the Heitan. Once he managed to align his ship in the right general direction, the pilot dialed up his fighters engines to 40%. Whilst his main engines were not apparently damaged, he felt going slower prudent as it would allow him a little more leeway to detect and avoid any errant debris or munitions that might be between himself and the carrier.

As they got closer to their home ship, Kenshin noticed on scans the plethora of support craft in the Heitan's vicinity, aiding in the recovery of damaged ships. "Looks like help's waiting up ahead -- if we can get my fighter back to the Heitan in one piece, one of those utility craft should be able to bring me into the hanger just fine."

"This is the Flight Boss, we read you loud and clear 2X-F21. You have priority approach to alpha deck. We have recovery teams and medical personnel standing by if any of your pilots need them.

Signal when you pass the outer beacon on your approach 0048."

Yaeko reviewed the crew roster in order to properly advice the Flight Boss to any changes and needs that the squadron would have. Seeing the damage warnings on a few of the fighters, she compiled her words in her head and then flipped her comm back on. "Flight Boss, 2X-F21. We are passing through the outer beacon. Be advised that we have acquired Thurston-Hei from the 2X-F22, tail number unknown. However, 33-0102 was shot down and thus will not be entering the beacon with us." Yaeko had trouble saying that last part. Saying it just seemed to make it true. After a deep breath she continued, "Also, 0096 is experiencing engine difficulties and will require docking assistance."

After pinging the proper docking bay on the squadron's IFF, Yaeko maneuvered herself to finalize the squadron's approach. After a minute or two, when she figured that the squadron was with half a minute of the deck, she dialed into the proper channel.

"This is 2X-F21 on approach to alpha deck. Prepare for docking."

Elisto glanced back to his displays, then back over his seat toward the damaged module. "Honcho, I've got a problem here. Portside module just erupted on me, there's been no warning of internal damage to the fighter, I could eject the module but the damage seems localized only to it, so I might be able to keep it attached without worry. Plus, I fear that ejecting it may cause it to become just another additional objectile for our fighters to avoid or it could end up slamming into one us."

Glancing back over his seat one last time, then he keyed in the sequence to jettison the module. He was conflicted, on one side he didn't want to eject it, on the other he did. The worry was that on his current flight path, ejecting the module may cause it to slam into one of his squad-mates fighters. Or the module could end up running on inertia and take it right into the Heitan or even serve as an objectile to other fighters of the carrier.

To that end, he shook his head. "To risky."

"Roger that Scrapyard. If you can, bring it in without ejecting it. At this point we're close enough to the Heitan that we'll have landed before the damage can spread. Although, even if something bad does happen, we're close enough to have you towed. I'm sure you'll be fine, see you on the ground." Yaeko made a quick adjustment to her trajectory.

"Flight Boss to 2X-F21, Alpha bay ready to receive. Enter when ready." came the call as the doors opened.

----------------------------

Akemi hearing Elisto's call chose to hang back a bit. "Scrapyard, I'm on your six. Will hold position until you are safely onboard." She transmitted.

---------------------

Kayo was flying off Akemi's port wing. She adjusted her speed and fighter attitude to match her wingmans.

Silic was sullen as they entered the flight bay, looking out the side of the canopy as the desolate empty black of space was replaced with the safe and busy interior of the ship. His partly artificial eyes roamed over the scene but his mind barely perceiving it, thoughts elsewhere.

Yaeko finalized her trajectory as she brought her fighter into the landing bay. After a quick glance behind her to make sure that the rest of the team had followed, she landed her fighter and began her shutdown procedures.

"Silic, we're home."
