RP: YSS Aeon [Mission 5.1] Into the depths

Kim regrouped with the others on the team. "The other team has encountered NMX at the other end of the elevators. They have secured the tubes. But there are some other areas up there with larger populations. But it seems that a good share of the slaves are hear."

Trowa smiled behind his helmet as he looked at the masks. That was another lucky break. “Good work.” Trowa said to Saki. “Distributed them around and get set to move out.” Just then another Yamataian soldier entered the room. Her suit signal marked her as Freyja-Hei and she announced that she had a shuttle waiting for them. Trowa laughed out loud. “See? Told you we’d get you out of here.”

Trowa listened to Kim’s update on the rest of the team. Sounded like they need some back up. He turned to regard the prisoner who seemed to be the elected leader of the group; at least the person who had done most of the talking. He had said that there were about 40 prisoners divided into three shifts. So they only had about a third of them. “Hey.” Trowa moved closer to the prisoner. “Where do they keep the other two shifts of workers?”

"Workers are kept on the level the elevators come out on. One way leads to the residences of the scientists and factory workers. The other direction is where the slaves are kept. They are kept in a room with a door that only opens from the hallway side. There is usually one or two guards at the door." One of the slaves replied.

"Yes Ma'am, I brought a type 7 shuttle with me, also I have a medic waiting in the shuttle for any needs that arise." She said with very false courage. She looked at the group of nekos that were standing in the center of the camber. "Uh.. Ma'am, Sir, I can lead these folks back up to the shuttle?" she was glad for the helmet, it allowed her a little more confidence talking to these new people.

Saki scowled, deep in thought. Getting elevator back in working shape should not be much trouble. Only the doors are welded after all, then Saki could just push them open with her armour. Or even cut the hole inside. She bet that if hey go up they will be found out pretty much withing seconds or minutes. From that point one they will have to move fast.

"Sir," she lasered Caffran. "Did you hear that about scientists? If NMX have some sort of research going on here, we should find out what it is? Maybe when we rescue the workers, we could go catch us a scientist, what do you think?" She asked him.

Trowa thought it over a moment. It sounded like a good plan. Their primary objective had been to learn about this facility. With the presents of prisoners, that objective had been over ridden. But now they had a good chance of killing two birds with one stone. They could rescue the prisoners and maybe take a prisoner of their own.

“Alright, Freyja-Hei, you lead these workers to the shuttle. Get them stowed aboard and out of the way. Arai-Hei,” Trowa smiled at her with behind his helmet and spoke with mock regret. “Sorry but you’re going to have to un-seal those doors. We’re going to get the rest of those prisoners and see if we can’t get a prisoner of our own. Shina-Juni, send another brief to the Taisa. Let her know what we’re up to. Well don’t just stand there looking pretty ladies. Hop to it!”

After giving the orders Trowa composed a quick message to Tsubei-Heisho letting her know what was going on as well.

Saki nodded and moved to un-weld the elevator closer that should take them as close to prisoner cells as possible. She then forcer the door open and checked the inside of the elevator tube for any trouble with her LASR at the ready.

Freyia nodded and headed over to where the neko refugees were standing. Taking off her helmet before speaking to them she brushed the hair out from her eyes and placed her glasses on her face. "Please can all of you put on a suit and mask and prepare to follow me, I will be leading you all up the tunnels to a shuttle I just piloted down her," she took a moment to to brush the hair back out from in front of her eyes, "We have a medic there who will be more then pleased to check over you." She was fighting the urge to hide her self but she needed to keep a confident look upon her face.

The prisoners needed little urging to put on the protective gear with the promise of liberation. Those in better shape helped their fellows and in less than five minutes, they were suited up.

"We're ready. Oh if you need them, in the last cavern there is a locked cabinet with explosives that the squids use to loose the rock." the closest prisoner offered.

Saki turned to others. "Clear," she said, but stayed near the elevator to watch it. She looked as those poor men and women started to dress into pressure suits. Once again it felt good that they were helping them. She was only worried about the fact, that they were escorted only by one other soldier.

"Be carefoul out there Oinari-san," she told to other soldier via laser comms. "There is some kind of local creature living up there. They are quite aggressive. If did not met them yet, you should know that it is better to use heavy weaponry on them right away. Their carapace is quite sturdy." Saki tried to give helpful advice at least.

Replying with the laser, Freyja spoke shyly, "Yes Ma'am I ran into a few on the way down, I killed one the rest scattered." She motioned to the waiting nekos, "Let's got going, we'll go slow, stay together. there are a few traps along the way but if we go slow we can get past them." With that she turned, taking off her glasses and placing them in a pouch, she placed her helmet on. Waving them to follow She headed back up the tunnel towards the shuttle.

She kept her rifle at the ready and moved slowly enough for the rest to keep up. Freyja felt really bad for this miserable wretches, she couldn't even imagine what they had gone through before the Crew of the Aeon arrived. She knew that the medic would take good care of them. As they arrived at the laser traps she turned to the group. "Ok, there are lasers here I'm not sure what they will activate, so we can't set them off. AS long as you can hover close to the ceiling you will be fine. Uhh... You can hover right?"

"Not all of us are Nekos. I'm just a good old fashioned Nepleslian. The only time I float is with a bottle of single malt whiskey. You said the Scouers passed through here? If they did then we should be safe. Most likely the lasers are a security system." he leader of the prisoners suggested.

Silently chastising herself Freyja felt like a idiot for thinking that they were nekos with out really thinking about it. To be fair though, she thought, it's not like I've run into many non-nekos about. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend, Uhh... How about you all back up a little. I'll go first, just in case..." She moved to talk quietly with the leader of their group, "in case something does happen just knock on the door and the medic will let you in. the code for the knocking is three quick, three long, then two." Once she was sure that the leader got it, she turned and walked slowly up the tunnel through he area with the lasers.

Code:
Yamamoto-Heisho, I'm about to deal with three Rippers topside with Tanaka-Hei. The other three are in an elevator room with a Mishu-held captive. I've been trying to get a response, but so far Oshiro-Juni has not responded. I'll call back if I'm still intact after dealing with these crab-walkers.
Tsubei-Heisho.

Freyja found that she could pass through the area with lasers without difficulty. It seemed that the Scourers on their way out had damaged most of them, and the others did not seem to do much of anything down here.

Trowa went to the cabinet the prisoner had mentioned and broke the lock. He smiled as he opened it and saw all the goodies inside. “Remind me to buy that Nepleslian a drink when we get back to the ship. Only a true-blue Nepleslian would think of using explosives on a methane world.” Trowa figured to use these explosives on their way back. They would rig this place to blow sky high.

A message from Kyoka suddenly appeared on Trowa’s HUD. He frowned as he read it. Three rippers, Feth! Trowa was tempted to send Saki back to reinforce them but decided against it. Kyoka should be able to handle it and Oshiro-Juni could reinforce her once contact was reestablished.

“Ok team, let’s move out. Arai-Hei, you have point.”

Kim examined the machinery used by the NMX. While the others looked into trying to restore the elevator to operation. Hearing Trowa's comments about explosives she got an idea.

"Trowa-San, bring some of those explosives over here. I think we might be able to help our shipmates above by creating a disruption. Set a sizable charge in this hopper. Set it for remote detonation. Then we use the controls above for send it up into the processing area. Once there we detonate it. If we get lucky we might set off a chain reaction, at least it will damage the equipment and require emergency personnel to respond." she said.

"Roger!" Saki said and before she could hear or react to Kim's message to Trowa she headed up the elevator shaft. Her cannons were folded back on her backs to not be in the way. She held her LASR at the ready, looking out for anything enemy. Laser traps, trip mines. Anything.

Trowa liked Kim’s idea immediately and quickly carried over several armfuls of the explosives. “Alright, set those to blow.” He glanced at the doors where Saki had just disappeared through. “I’m going to follow Arai-Hei. Catch up to us as soon as you’re done here.”

Trowa quickly followed up the elevator shaft where Saki was and came up behind her, his plasma rifle held ready.

Once Freyja had lead the refugees past the traps, she knew for the most part that they were home free. Once they arrived at the shuttle she knock on the hull in the pattern that she gave the Medic. on the radio she sent message to the shuttle,
Code:
I brought some people to evacuate. they could use a proper look over."
once she sent it she waited for the door to open.
