Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Shizuka just nodded upon being assigned to stay with the defending garrison. She could not expect much else and walked off with the other nekos who had been selected to stay behind. As she did so Ururu walked up to her. "So newbie-chan, what do you know about power armor combat? How did you even make your way up here, you shouldn't even be here you know?" she said remarking towards Shizuka's yellow paneled uniform.

"I will do what I can. I do not want to stay behind anymore while you risk your lives. We are all in this fight together." Shizuka replied as dignified as she could.

"Really? When was the last time you actually fired a weapon?" Ururu pressed. Shizuka looked down for a moment while continuing her determined stride.

"I have not fired a gun since my initial training course." she replied.

"Huh? Then what makes you think you're able to handle this now?" the combat sprite then asked.

"If I can handle tearing my hand apart and turning my own bones into weapons while being held prisoner then I think I can endure a little gunfire." the caretaker responded.

Unsure of what she just heard Ururu continued walking. If anything her commanding officer was giving Shizuka a chance and that was all she needed to know for now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Nyton Claymere engaged the Real Time cable to the dataport on the back of his neck again. He allowed his mind to focus itself on the Tactical Console and eased up so as to allow his brain to rest as per the Miharu's caution. Going more passive he simply allowed himself to see what the Miharu saw, relishing the data uplink he now possessed. It was an interesting sensation and one he wondered if his grandfather had ever encountered. The vast amount of cybernetics in his body were still a mystery to him. He wondered how the old man had endured so much over the course of his life.

"Suzuka-Shosa, I am currently linked to the tactical console via my cybernetic uplink. Is this causing you any interference to your navigational system?" Nyton then asked over to Yukari.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari took a few extra seconds to come up with a better descriptor.

"Crudely" was the first one she wanted to use to confirm to Nyton that yes, his link-up was connected and no, it did not interfere with her. The cybernetic device allowed Nyton to do many things, but put next to the SPINE interface ... Yukari deemed it was not a fair comparison.

The Shosa could not understand fully what Nyton experienced through the uplink. She likened it to being a person taking a photograph, versus being the weather captured in the photograph — the photographer framed things however she wished, offering an illusion of some control, but she could not shape clouds, filter sun beams or throw lightning.

Yukari felt that way, her vision resting on the top of the rollbar, above the torpedo tubes. Her skin bristled at the ice of space, but also wanted to crackle alive through the energized armor. The power generators were her "heart", the capacitors her "stomach" being filled up with energy. Legs became engines, and she felt she could run for years, from one star to the next. The various weapons were her arms and fingers, coiled and ready to strike.

She could "see" Nyton's link in the corner of her visor. He was not smooth and electric blue, but fuzzy and grey, with movement rendered in only half of "real-time", even though he was seeing and experiencing what Miharu fed to him.

No matter. It was still much better than no link at all.

"No noted interference, Claymere-Taii," Yukari said, her head not moving. "Also, thank you for joining us, Saito-Heisho." She had heard the door open.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Turning her head to Kai as her hands went for the hem of her uniform shirt, the young Warrant Officer paused her undressing. "Our strategy won't change. This is just to increase survivability," she replied to the NCO. Pulling her shirt up and over her head, Masako would be interrupted again as she stood in only her standard issue lingerie and socks. "From what Hinoto-shoi tells me, it wouldn't even be a mild distraction for them," Masako stated while she reached down to slide her socks off. "We shouldn't carry something unless its going to be effective," the raven-haired Warrant Officer explained before glancing around the room.

Well, Asher seemed to have left already. "Nakamura-heisho, you've got one of the new recruits with you so be careful with your tactics." she advised him before reaching down and pulling her bra off. She often wondered why she felt self-conscious about her body everywhere but an Armor Bay. Maybe it was because she was preparing herself for battle. Maybe it was because she'd been nude in Armor Bays so many times that it felt safe for her. Either way, the Warrant Officer had nearly all of her body unclothed for her subordinates to see.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Buh," Tsuya's mouth said for her. She was definitely feeling a little light-headed, and she hoped the sensation would fade before they got into combat... but right now, it wasn't so bad, as long as she got to keep looking at Masako.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Hai, that makes sense. And don't worry, I have no problem following commands. Your plans shouldn't need to change to accommodate me." With that said, Kyou went ahead and left, seemingly oblivious to the obvious desirability of others at the time.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"My pleasure. It would have taken longer if not for your own excellent timing," Miyoko responded to Yukari, as conversationally as she could. It was, in fact, such good timing that she suspected that it was more than a coincidence, but the topic of just how much of the scene Yukari had overhead was one best saved for another day. A day that she could only hope she'd survive with her rank intact.

Miyoko took her seat at the operations console and started pulling the sensor feeds up just as she preferred, letting the familiar task calm her down and focus her mind on the more important matters at stake.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"I'm not worried," Masako replied with a smile before slipping off her bikini briefs and entering her Daisy. "Now if there are no more questions, head on out," the Warrant Officer ordered as the suit closed in around her cream-toned body.

She then turned her head to glance at Tsuya. "Yamada-hei, close your mouth and get moving to the Hoshi's Port Multifunction Bay," Masako chided lightly as she grabbed her helmet and began moving.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kai nodded as Masako explained that they would not change strategies, and knew that splitting their forces would indeed increase survivability during transit. The Yamatain put his helmet on and called out over the Radio to Asher. "Westwood-Hei. Please wait for Gunshin-hei and I."

As Masako took her clothes off, Kai didn't even notice. He had seen her before, and the first few times had been rather embarrassing for him, but, he had seen most of the combat personnel in the buff several times by now and his mind automatically blocked it off as unimportant. All it would do would be to trigger a hormonal distraction he did not need. And, while on the outside it appeared as if Kai was either uninterested, or had an iron will, it was really thanks to the abilities of the NH-22 Brain afforded him upon his joining the military.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher, who was already nearly to the Armor Bay, received Kai's message with little joy.

kai said:
"Westwood-Hei. Please wait for Gunshin-hei and I."

He didn't slow down a bit.

"What? Screw that, I'm almost there n'iss not like I'm goin' anywhere without ya'." Asher growled bitterly back at Kai. The Hei was starting to get impatient with all the slow down talk. If they didn't want him to go kill something, or just get to the shuttle, they should have kept the guns away from him, and the armor as well.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yuzuki looked up and examined Nao briefly. But she did not linger on her long; her next words were delivered walking.

"You're part of the team staying on the ship," Yuzuki stated, simply, "So, I am afraid for now our job is to wait."

They stopped in front of the three large displays forward of the main gravimetric array. She folded her arms around the helmet of her AMES, nestling it against her stomach while she stared at them as if she were somewhere else, in some other time or place. Her eyes, their light and glittering blue seeming much more pale in the dance of the neon electric readings, gained a remarkably ghostly quality. Then, as if remembering she were being watched, the etheral being that had taken Yuzuki's place turned her head slightly and took the rest of them in with an ephemeral smile.

"Freeman-Juni has confirmed the roles you were assigned," she said over her shoulder, "But I will explain them anyway. If you are in power armor right now, you are a sentry. You report to Ichigo-Heisho, who will be leading the defense in this case, and she will divide you into teams as necessary. I do not know much about security, myself, but I assume you will be focused around the two control points - the Bridge, and here in engineering."

"Those of you in environmental suits are under me, and we are the damage control team. I am not sure if the Juni will take control of us himself, or what he plans to do, but..."

She lifted a hand and the displays changed. Where-ever her hand moved, the indicator upon the screen trailed, until she finally selected a small window on the left display. The damage control chart - a three-dimensional representation of the entire ship broken down deck-by-deck - filled all the displays and spread wide, turning slowly in their view.

"This is our map. We will respond to mechanical casualties as they happen. Our goal is to keep this ship combat-capable at all cost, even if it means throwing away lives to do it."

She let her hand drop. Against the backdrop of the glow from the displays, her silhouette seemed insignifigant. Yuzuki felt her blood run cold and knew that, to anyone else, she would be pale as a sheet. It wasn't supposed to be like this.

Tilting her head back to stare upwards, as if through the deck, she sighed. In that sigh, she tried to let out all of her anxiety, and release her fear. It didn't work well, but at least her heart slowed a little. She flexed her hand, feeling between her fingers the memory of hair. It made her smile again for a moment.

Yuzuki donned her helmet. Her short hair gave her no difficulty; only her ears made it uncomfortable. She adjusted the helmet slightly so that she would have a little breathing room, then attached it to the rest of the AMES suit.

"When the Juni returns, we will cut all superficial systems save those in the bridge and bring all of our generators, weapons systems, and defensive grids online. Until then, check each other over."

Code:
"Hey, Kai. Good luck."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Bhhnhh... h-hai, Kurohoshi-juni!" Tsuya closed her mouth as ordered and straightened up her Daisy. She donned her own helmet as well, starting off toward the ordered location with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Mara and Sigurd had already boarded the Fox shuttle on the arrival of Masako's team. The shuttle had been stripped of some essentials such as emergency rations in order to cram in more equipment. each of the seats in the passenger compartment had been moved so there would be two on each sides, leaving more room in the middle.

"Secure yourselves to your seats and then we'll be ready to go," Mara called from the pilot's compartment.

* * *

Asher was the first to step through the rear hatch of the T5 Cougar shuttle. Compared to the Fox shuttle, the Cougar was better suited to carry around power armored troops; a lot more supplies had been stored in it because only four of its eight seats were being taken.

The pilot, Sanri, greeting Asher with a nod before she turned to her console and communicated to Mara. "Mara, once we leave, I will take point, seeing I have the subspace detonator missiles needed to get through the gate's shielding."

"Roger that. I'll be right behind you."

* * *

A volumetric communication window opened between Nyton and Yukari's station, showing Hinoto from bust up.

"Shosa, Taii, I've taken position in the sensor dome," the sprite reported. "I'll effect mission control for the Black Knights from here."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari's visage popped up before Hinoto, green eyes bright from behind the blue visor. "Roger, Hinoto-san. Good luck."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton looked at Hinoto's image and gave a nod. "Roger that Hinoto-san. I have faith in you." he replied before resuming one more inventory check. He quickly cycled through their stocks of torpedo warheads and began to enable the system to stand by. All turrets were double checked for proper function and warming up before being revealed. Their stock of weapon pods were configured for defense in preparation for the enemy's certain counterattack. Finally the main gun was checked for power levels, reserves, and set to beam mode.

"All weapons systems check out and are configured for assault. Ready to load and activate at your command, Taisa," Nyton reported.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Arriving at the Fox shuttle, the still helmet-less Masako stood outside the shuttle to await Nimura and Tsuya to enter first. Her cute smile was now a stoically, determined expression as she began to prepare herself mentally for combat. Stepping into the Fox, the small Warrant Officer shut the hatch behind them.

Opening a volumetric window, she linked it to another one by the Cougar. "Is your team ready, Nakamura-heisho?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Tom ran over Miharu's status, checking the energy levels of the capacitors, the strength of the generators, the stability of the fold drive and other means of transportation, and the conductive strength of all the wiring.

They hadn't missed a thing. Miharu was running better than new. He used his suit's AIES to link with the ship, giving the engineer as close a connection to the ship as he could without actually wiring into it. He needed all his facilities at a moment's notice.

"Freeman-Juni reporting," he said through his volumetric window after there was a lull in the communications on the bridge. "Engineering resources divided into armor patrol and repair crews. We're sending a few Daisy armors to patrol near the bridge and other essential ship sectors. Miharu is running at optimal levels. Standing by."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kai jogged his way to the Cougar shuttle, to catch up to the overeager Asher. He stepped in, noting the relative roominess of this particular shuttle, as well as all the supplies stuffed into the available space. "Westwood-hei and I are ready, we are just waiting on Gunshin-hei" the Heisho answered.

Suddenly, the Yamataian received a little text message from a certain fiery-headed Sprite:
Code:
"Hey, Kai. Good luck."

Smiling, the Heisho replied to the Sprite

Code:
Good luck to you, as well. Keep our home in one piece.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Right!" Nao replied. After the short speech from Yuzuki, she had quickly checked over the other sprites' suits, the AMES clad group looking over one another in a careful yet frenzied activity. Nao's nerves were still tingling from earlier as her fingers danced over Rei's AMES, ensuring the seals were properly locked together and that the oxygen supply was full. There weren't any holes or other defects either, and the electronics were looking good as well. The other sprite then turned around and did the same for Nao, soon giving a double pat on the back to tell her everything was in order. "Right. Right. Now I gotta sit on my station and wait for bad things to happen." she sarcastically remarked. Nao snickered to herself.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Roger, engineering," Yukari said back to Tom through her headset. The Raltean man would see his beloved's picture inside of his armor's HUD. Her hair was different than usual, instead put into the tight braids rooted at the back of her head.

The ship's executive officer then appeared in Masako's helmet. "Black Knight Leader, Miharu. Please affirm ready status."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

((OOC: Moving along now, no time to wait.))

Masako heard the report and only nodded. Moments later, Kai would report the Cougar's hatch shutting and everyone was ready. Shoving her helmet over her head and attaching all the connections, the young Warrant Officer would then receive a request from Yukari on status.

"Both teams are loaded up and ready for action, Shosa." she replied with grim determination. Masako was ready to kill at this point and her tone made it clear as it seemed to have chilled to ice.
