RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 6.0] Mists and Mysteries

Giving a nod, Elisto switched his speeds and lined up his fighter. Keeping an eye on his systems, he waited until he was lined up on his bombing run with his target. "0103, Training bombs away," announced Elisto as he hit the release and watched his displays as the bombs dropped away from his fighter and toward their targets.

Then he changed his flight path to move up behind Yaeko.

Silic's fighter continued meandering in its tail-first entry up above, as the others took their turns Silic finally put it onto gear. The fighter flipped around and dived straight at the target, picking up tremendous speed, almost dead vertical.

“Tin-man here, attacking target, over.” he said simply as things began shaking in the cockpit.

The fighter held straight down until it seemed that it was going to dive into the ground itself before the bomb on its wing detached and it pulled sharply up with everything it had, leaving a trail of dustclouds along the ground for a few hundred meters before pulling up again. The bomb itself lanced through the target, and probably buried itself in a few meters of dirt.

Anne's medical equipment showed that Silic actually lost conciousness during the final stage of the run, regaining it in enough time to pull the fighter up as the computer casually kept it following the ground before something drastic needed to be done.

“Tin-man here, I think I got it.” Silic reported as his fighter looped around and chased after the rest of the squadron, his voice sounding more than a little strained.

After Silic's bombing run, his Kawarime started flashing a number of system warnings. Yellow tell tales showed on his HUD. The fighter was still flight worthy, but it would be definitely needing Hibiyashi Sekai's attention when it returned to the Heitan.

-------------------------

Once in the mountains, visibility at first decreased as fog lay heavy in the mountains at the edge of the weather front. This required the squadron to fly by instrumentation only. Once more than half way to Point Bravo the clouds and fog broke and the squadron was bathed in brilliant sunshine.

------------------------

From a point northwest of the bombing run Konpeki sat in a dry creek bed, she was monitoring the Fighting Diamonds training run. One most likely dead, and another very nearly planted them self into the bomb range. Had to be Silic. she thought.

She crept out of her observation point, and started making her way to the target zone. She needed recon the objective to give the Diamonds the best intel she could, and see if the target rumored to be present was.

"Uhh well follow me then Cutter," Anne said to him almost overwhelmed by the fact that she was the lead. Ussualy she was the wingmate who was following. She tried to copy Elisto's trajectory as well as she could.

"Spinner, proceeding with bombing run." She reported and accelerated. She was try to do a by the book run. She was heading forward and prepared her bombs. When computer beeped she pushed the button and let her bombs fly. "Bombs away," she said as she accelerated to get back into formation.

"Alright Diamonds, let's hurry up to point Bravo." Yaeko led the squadron through the mountains, piloting fairly well for not having much instrument-only flight. Upon breaking out of the cloud cover, she reassessed her position and made sure that the squadron was on course before continuing to Bravo.

"Heitan, this is Munkata-Kohosei. Approaching Bravo point and preparing to begin our ascent," Yaeko said into her comm. During her briefing she had stated that when she called up to the carrier that they squadron was begin their ascent, that was code that they were landing. She figured it was a good way to play an communications intercepts as well as keep higher informed on the squadron's movement.

Kenshin released the training ordinance, monitoring its trajectory as it descended towards the planet. When it managed to accurately hit the target the young yamataian pilot smiled softly to himself, pleased -- even though the practice run was just a ruse, there was no reason not to try ones best.

Once his package was away, Kenshin angled his fighter back towards the rest of the squadron, which were now proceeding onwards to point Bravo. He joined the fighter formation just behind Hellcat -- as her wingmate for this mission, Kenshin planned to keep close. His eyes briefly glanced out the cockpit towards the scenery of Aqueous, which was quickly changing. The last time Kenshin had the chance to pilot in an atmosphere was back during his training -- though he enjoyed the freedom of flying in space more he had to admit the view wasn't half-bad.

Akemi and Kayo flew through the mountains like a pair of synchronized performers. There was a fluidity as one would follow the other. Once they arrived at the landing site they slowed their fighters and brought them down gently in a VTOL landing.

"You did good Kayo" she called out to her wingman as her canopy opened and she reached around to start unloading the gear for the rest of the mission. She wrinkled her nose briefly as she heft the Daisy out of the back seat.

Elisto followed his course, keeping an eye on his wingmen as he followed the fighters in front. When he arrived at the landing point, he spun his fighter around and entered into the VTOL state, landing on the ground and waiting until his wingmen arrived. "Good flying there Hoshi," commented Elisto as he popped open the canopy and began to remove his gear.

As the squadron came to the planned landing site, Kenshin brought his fighter to a gentle halt and then slowly brought it down to land in the clearing. As the landing gear descended and touched ground, the yamataian powered down his ships systems and popped the cockpit canopy open.

Shifting his position in the ship, he turned to the co-pilot's seat that was occupied with the Daisy armor he'd been assigned. With a bit of effort, he removed the heavy, awkward garment from the craft and set himself to the task of putting it all on. Once satisfied he was properly fitted out, he retried his rifle and other equipment from the Kawarime, before turning about to see if his wingmate Hellcat or the others were ready to go.

Silic hit the bottom to deploy his drone as he flew along behind the others. All he got was a beep and a yellow light on his instruments. He frowned and looked out his starboard wing where the drone sat stubbornly.

“I've got a minor equipment failure here, I'll have to improvise.” he radioed to the others as least cryptically as he could manage while avoiding the subject matter.

With that, Silic hit the equivalent of the power brake in the aircraft and it slowed to a halt. Slowed might be the wrong word. One second it was moving at flight speed, three seconds later it was still in mid-air. The rest of the squadron heard a small “Ow!” over their radios.

After a few seconds the canopy opened and Silic appeared. He was walking on top of an aircraft hundreds of feet above the ground. The man steadily walked his way out onto the wing, and lay down to lean over the edge of the wing at his waist to examine the malfunctioning hard-point. He tried pushing it, no give, pulling, whacking and shaking. It held steady.

The man seemed to give up as he hoisted himself back up, only to turn around and drop down feet first this time, standing on top of the front of the drone while he held onto the wing with his hands. Carefully he jumped up and back down on the drone. There was a jiggle.

Silic jumped again, nervously. More jiggling. With grown confidence he jumped high and curled his legs to hammer them down on the drone. With a clank the drone fell away, and Silic's legs along with it. The man clung to his fingertip hold on the wing, scrambling for some purchase before hauling himself back up and dusting himself off. He wiped his hands together as he waltzed back into the cockpit and closed the canopy.

“Equipment problems have been rectified.” He stated as a white line marked the path of the decoy.

When he approached the landing area his fight came in sideways, swooping down before hovering up as Silic mildly panicked and dropping back down with a crunch from the landing gear as the fighter slewed to a halt.

The canopy opened and Silic dropped down, brushing some imaginary dirt from his chest. “Another happy landing.” he said simply, taking a few steps to stretch his legs and arms, as he posed the front wheel on the aircraft's landing gear gave-way and the nose of the fighter hit the ground with another resounding crunch. Silic turned around and grew pale.

Yaeko easily landed her craft before her canopy popped open in and she glided down the ground with a little help from anti-grav. She hadn't even gotten worried that Silic had any problems, she had just become so accustomed to him screwing up that it didn't bother her anymore. She began dragging her Mindy out of the back of her fighter before gently placing it on the ground and then going back to her fighter for the explosives.

"It's a good thing we didn't leave these in Ghost's Kawarime," Yaeko called out to Elisto as she jogged over to him. The though crossed her mind to toss them to Elisto when she got about 20 feet away, but then she realized she was holding explosives and thought better of it. She walked over and set them down next down next to his fighter and said, "I think I would've killed someone if they were lost in the ocean." Giving a smile and a nod, she jogged back to her stuff.

"Alright, suit up!" She called out as she hopped back up into her Kawarime. Putting on her headset once more she called in, "Heitan, 21st. We have finalized our ascent. Munkata out." She then proceeded to begin putting her Mindy on.

Errowyn fighter sat silently with the canopy open with her sitting on the ground, looking bewildered at the Daisy Power Armor. She blinked a few times, looking though the manuel on how to put it on properly and eyeing the various pieces. She sighed and watched the other's put their's on.

She slowly put it on, hoping she was doing it correctly as she seen the others do and by the manuel. Making sure each peice was fitted to her properly.

She looked over at her wingman and mouthed "help?" looking lost as the wind blew her hair into her face.

Sigh sighed, if he made it back he knew the entire ground crew would want to kill him. He walked back to the now slanted cockpit and began hauling his armour out, getting the chest and arms out before dragging it by the hips awkwardly out. He heaved out around to the back of the wing, which was still high off the ground and split the suit open. The chest and arms rolled forward, and the back leaned over to create an opening.

“Come and get it, ladies!” He said jokingly as he stripped off his flight suit and was left with only his undershorts. Silic was A nepleslian, and so couldn't resist the urge to flex a little, even though by Nepleslian standards he was a featherweight. Eventually Silic hauled himself up to the wing of the fighter, and hung by his arms just above the waiting armour, legs spread to fit in the slots perfectly.

With a deep breath he dropped himself in. There was a thud, and Silic groaned loudly and turned pale as he leaned forward, arms sliding down into the open PA.

“Don't worry, I'm fine.” He managed, high strained and slightly high-pitched.

Once he recovered he slipped his arms into the gauntlets and closed the suit up, the back coming down to seal across his spine. Once done he experimentally flexed his arms and fingers in front of his face, satisfied everything seemed to be worked he got to work.

“It's nice these new models don't feel up your bits and pieces any more.” He commented dryly. Referring to the older models that were designed to also extract bodily waste from the user, for those models it had been mandatory to be naked.

He threw his flightsuit back into the cockpit and began extracting his weapons and tools. The floating flashlight zipped out of the cockpit and zoomed around a bit before settling on a spot just beside Silic's shoulder. He put the shotgun behind his back on a sling and loaded up his butt pack, finally be brought his new plasma rifle and his old, appropriated, bolt-action rifle.

“Someone on the support team want this?” He asked, holding it up to show the others, “Just make sure it gets back to me.”

Elisto blinked when he heard Silic, and turned around in time to see the soldier strip down to his boxers. It wasn't something he was used to seeing, at least, not since he joined the army anyway. With a slight shake of the head, he pulled the armor up and opened it up.

Sliding his way into it, he pushed his feet through the leggings and then his hands and arms through the shoulder parts. When he was fully in, he sealed the suit and brought its systems online. Flexing his fingers, then his arms, followed by moving his head from side to side and walking a few feet before giving a nod of approval.

The system came up, a HUD displayed showing his suits integrity along with markers for other suits nearby. With a satisfied smile he turned to check his tools and grab his rifle and sidearm. When he heard Yaeko's comment, he turned toward her. "That'd make two of us," he said and hefted the explosives and placed them into his pack.

Anne flew after everyone else. She did not hurry since she was still scared of what was coming next. Even though her job was not even fighting. Luckily for her Silic once again proofed to be able to took her mind of any serious things. She saw him stop in midair and the shenanigans that followed. She could not believe her eyes as she watched. When he started jumping on the model, only thing she could do was to pray for him not to fall. Shouting on him to stop would not help anyway.

Luckily Silic did not fall and climbed back in plane. He proceeded to land as if nothing happened at all. Anne just shook her head and released her own drone. She then landed on the nearest free spot. She quickyl de-powered her fighter and opened the canopy. Climbing out on the wing she quickly discarded her flight-suit letting other see the skin-tight star army uniform she wore underneath. She also could not notice Silic who undressed just to his underwear. Anne could not be really bothered by it as she saw many naked men and women in her life. She even saw Silic without the boxers so this display did not had effect on her. Not big one anyway as she blushed slightly. Anne took a note to think later about the fact that she might started to have feelings for the nepleslian man.

Anne quickly dragged the armour from the space behind her seat and onto the wing. She shivered as she saw the armour before herself. She was not warrior and this was clearly something meant for warriors. Daisy power armour was clearly dangerous thing. The shield, the forearm weapons. That all was dangerous and deadly. Anne preferred to save lives, not take them. She sighed and started putting that damn thing on, as she was trained in the basic.

When she was done she reached in the canopy last time. Her left hand took the medical kit she took earlier and right took hold of the plasma rifle. Anne froze for a moment. Tall helashio realised that she will be most likely forced to fire this weapon at someone today. She thought she was ready to do so, but she was not so sure now.

"This is Spinner I am ready." She said and jumped down from the wing, landing in squat position. "Please look after me out there Cutter," She then said to her partner, while looking around for him.

Akemi once her suit was sealed, and had checked Kayo signaled her fighter to launch her decoy. She watched it fly along the programmed course. She reached into the back of the cockpit, pulled out the Space Plasma Rifle, the Type 10 Camouflage fabric, and datapad. She placed the last two items into her butt pack for safe keeping. She crossed over to Yaeko.

"Ready to get to the dance when you are, ma'am" she said.

"Update me on new intel while en route. Laser Communication." Yaeko responded. Switching to her loud speaker, she called out to the rest of the squadron. "Alright Diamonds, let's go. We're flying NOE, so keep as low as you can, use as few instruments as possible, and Laser Communications only."

When she finished speaking Yaeko hopped a little as her Daisy started hovering a few meters above the ground. She then leaned forward as she initiated her thrusters and the armor shot off towards the west.

"On your six," said Elisto as he fired up his Daisy and took to the skies, following behind Yaeko closely. He kept an eye on the suits sensors while keeping another on the horizon.

Kenshin visually examined Errowyn's armor, checking to see that it was all properly sealed and in place, before finally picking up her helmet off the ground and handing it to her. "As far as I can tell, it seems as though you're properly suited up. Otherwise, the suits AIES should tell you if anything's wrong." Hidden beneath his own helmet, the young yamataian flashed a small grin.

"Let's hurry or else the others will likely head off without us. Also, don't forget the rest of your gear!" Kenshin turned, running softly before he activated his suits flight capability and fell in next to Yaeko and Elisto.

"Gear?" Softly momentary looking blank then realized her weapons was still in the fighter. She akwardly climbed up on the fighter and grabbed her gear.

She jumped down onto the ground as she slung her gear on into place. looking around taking noticed the other's had left, she spoted the last going over a rise in the ground.

Errowyn shook her head feeling very fustrated as she powered her suit up and took off after the group. Lagging a bit behind everyone.
