Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Hanako continued the tour by bringing the group down the carpeted stairs into the plush red wardroom. Covered in red shaggy carpet, the lounge offered couches and a minibar, as well as doors to the crew cabins, bath, shower room, and laundry room. "If you have not claimed a bed yet, please do so now," the Taisa suggested.

From there, Hanako led the crew back out into the main passageway, pointing out the entrance to the recreation room, and then leading the new crew members into engineering.

Engineering was significantly louder than the rest of the ship, as well as warm and cramped, due to all the big machinery crammed into the small space. There was the aether generator, imported fusion generators, and all manner of power converters, inverters, capacitors, circuit busses, cooling systems, and many, many cables. "These," Hanako bellowed over the noise, "lead to ship maintenance tunnels."

Next, Hanako led the group back out and down a passageway leading around the recreation area and a cargo lift to the medical lab's doors. "This is the medical bay. Note it is right outside the power armor bay. I expect everyone who wants a long life to get mental backups here, preferably after the tour. The medics will guide you through the process."

Pointing to the armor bay doors, Hanako told them, "You have already seen the armor and shuttle bays on the way in, but I should note that there is a decontamination area with showers, a changing room, and a toilet room attached to it. You can also access them through this door across from the medical lab. There is also a direct elevator from the power armor bay to the armory."

Lastly, the golden-eyed Taisa led the group to a nearby cargo lift and they rode down into the two-story cargo bay, which was full of standard shipping containers and a handful of ground vehicles parked near the big door/ramp. "This is the last stop on our tour. We keep supplies down here. The ship can also build items in the fabrication bay behind those two huge doors, or open them to extend the cargo area. When we land on a planet, we can lower the ramp to unload the vehicles."

With the tour of the small ship completed, Hanako asked, "Does anyone have any questions about the ship?"

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Ramiro followed the group around, continuing to take note of important areas and making a mental note to return to the medical bay for mental backup. Once the tour was finished and the Taisa asked if the crew had any questions he grinned a bit, stepped forward and said, "I have a question Taisa. When do we start?"

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Sune had followed the Taisa as she guided the tour and made note of the key things she mentioned. Looks like Miyazawa-Hei and I will be busy here shortly. Might be a good time to get a baseline on the crew with the new PMS-1 for future use. Especially since most of the crew is new. After this I will speak with her about splitting up the work. He listened to the Taisa complete her tour. "Ketsurui-Taisa" he said with a deep bow, "Are we able to make adjustments to the crew quarters? What are your rules for cabin assignments?"

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Following the rest of the group, Hotaru took note of several areas which she had not been to before. Engineering was certainly an eye opener, for some reason she thought it would be quieter.

As they approached the Medical area, Hotaru reminded herself that she had had a recent backup from the previous mission after the post-op medical check. I really can't wait to start this new exploration mission. It would be great meeting a new sentient species! Hotaru thought casting her mind back to the history of the YSE.

As Sune mentioned room assignments, she wondered who would go where. Wondering where Sune was going with his question about adjustments to crew quarters, Hotaru paid closer attention.

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Konoka had smiled warmly when the medical space....HER workspace...was showed off. She then reminded herself that Sune was a medic.....How would that work out? She'd always been proud of her extensive medical training, and how her creators had nicknamed her 'Nurse Konoka'. But she was the ship's doctor, and didn't see herself being just an assistant....unless of course Sune had more training. She'd ask him about his experience. Maybe he'd work solely on the field?

She was driven out of her thoughts when Sune made a question about cabin assignments. She wondered where exactly he was going with that. She then remembered she had empty space for a roomie. Speaking of which....what WHERE Taisa's rules? This was a worrisome question. She smiled, remembering how she'd considered living in the medbay when she'd first arrived, just so not to cause trouble. Well, she'd be glad for any old or new friend. She just hoped Taisa didn't get any funny ideas about who to stick her with!

Well, she'd focus on the discussion at hand, and not tripping. Nothing that happened could be that bad! On that happy thought, she began to lose her balance, hoping someone would grab her before she fell and hurt herself.

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Kumiko lingered a bit when they arrived at the engineering section, as she had only had a short time to look through the first engineering bay, and she wanted to see whether anything had changed. Hurrying, she caught up with the others shortly before they departed from the med-bay. Thinking hard, she was startled out of her reverie when Konoka lost her balance, and quickly lunged, grabbing her arm, attempting to catch her, and keep her from falling. Again.

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Ramiro said:
"I have a question Taisa. When do we start?"
"Right away. Ramiro, return to the bridge at once and set course for the HX-2 system as soon as the rest of the squadron is ready," the blue-haired captain answered.
Sune said:
"Are we able to make adjustments to the crew quarters? What are your rules for cabin assignments?"
"I do not have any specific rules for crew cabins in ship's rules but I do ask that Cabin 1 be reserved for the First Officer and that you not boot anyone out of their current assignments against her will. Also," Hanako added, looking at the technicians, "please do not unbolt the beds from the walls and such without permission."

Suddenly, Hanako blinked in surprise. "Ah, and I almost forgot..." She grabbed the nearest phone and dialed the intercom. "This is the captain speaking. All enlisted crewmembers are hereby promoted by one rank in appreciation of your enlistment. Your new rank pins will be available in the wardroom during lunch. I also have gifts for you - fur coats, silk blankets, sheets, and pillowcases, extra sets of Star Army belts, boots, and gloves in several colors, and various backpacks and bags. These will be in the cargo bay - see Pineapple for assistance with retrieving yours. That is all."

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Nika took mental note of the bookroom as well as the only window in the wardroom.
"Taisa, with the additional modifications on the ship, I'm very interested to know how smooth the ship's movements will be... As a Starship Operator, are we able to get a hands-on?"

Nika was then surprised by the sudden announcement of being promoted. "Wow! Talk about getting promoted from attending a party..." The neko shrugged it off, already assuming that the promotion was due to the fact that the Eucharis' crews had more important responsibilites and roles within the army.

Re: [Post Mission 5] A Time for Recovery

Having heard the Taisa’s comments on crew accommodations, Junko discreetly updated the computer via her communicator that the empty berthing she had left her bags in earlier would be her permanent quarters. She hoped that she would have it to herself, as she did not think the Eucharis was at full complement but that was something to be dealt with later. At the moment, she was altogether more interested in getting back to the engineering spaces. The brief glimpse seen during the tour had whetted her appetite once again for the intricacies of starships and their– The announcement of the Taisa cut across her thoughts. In her excitement she had zoned out from the group, focusing on her fantasies but the volume of the all-hands address and its even more surprising content certainly drew her attention. Looking around sharply to see if the others shared her surprise, Junko wondered just what exactly had been done to deserve the elevation. She had barely been in the Star Army for any appreciable amount of time at all and had certainly not done anything of note. So to be promoted to Nito Hei for merely re-enlisting…?

Nika said:
"Taisa, with the additional modifications on the ship, I'm very interested to know how smooth the ship's movements will be... As a Starship Operator, are we able to get a hands-on?"
"Absolutely. I suggest you join Ramiro on the bridge."

With that said, Hanako walked over the the container with all the gifts and opened it up in case anyone wanted to claim their now. Pineapple joined her.

Sune thought about the gifts the Taisa was offering. I do not wish to give offense to the Taisa, so I should probably accept something. Perhaps one of those sets of bedding. Yes, that should do nicely. He walked over to the container. He bowed to Hanako, "Thank you Taisa, I have decided to take a set of new bedding." He then turned to Pineapple, "Nitô Heisho, if you would assist me, I will take my gift and secure it." Sune then took his new bedding and as he passed Konoka stopped and said, "Miyazawa Nitô Hei, after I secure the Taisa's gift I will be heading to the Medbay. This would be a good opportunity for us to go over the crew's medical records together."

Ramiro listened to Hanako's responses to the questions put before her as to make sure he understood everything he could. Taking the order to report to his station as an official notice that he was no longer off duty he snapped into attention. "Yes ma'am, and thank you for the promotions ma'am." And with that he turned and rushed back to the bridge. From how the Taisa had been addressing current issues it sounded like they were to depart immediately which meant that all haste must be taken.

Once Ramiro arrived at the bridge he quickly dropped into one of the seats in front of the computer. He quickly checked information on the HX-2 so that we he would have some knowledge on any complications in the intended path of travel. After muttering something quietly, and somewhat confusedly, about something that sounded like Goban, he closed the information and brought up the ships controls. After imputing the coordinates for the system he set the ship on stand-by and waited for the Taisa so he could inform her that the ship was ready for departure.

Konoka had muttered a 'thank you' to Kumiko for catching her....she'd have to work on that. When she heard she'd been promoted, she'd grinned, her eyes wide, and whispered in awe, "Awright!" She smiled happily due to the good fortune that all her friends had been promoted as well.

After letting Pineapple know how to assist her, she'd lingered staring at the sprite for a second, a little stunned that Sune had brought her back....and she hadn't been asked. She had no love for Soul Transfer, but....really. At Sune's speaking, she said, "I've been meaning to speak to you about that. How much medical training do you have? Are you better with field work or the medbay? Seriously, a ship with two medics?? We need to work that out. I was suprised the Taisa hired another one....Ah, well, I'm not complaining...But...I need to know how we'll divvy up the work....By the way, congratulations on your promotion..."

Kumiko stood there for a few seconds, more than slightly surprised at getting the promotion. Though she'd been in for quite some time, she had never been anywhere for long enough to be promoted before. Realizing she'd frozen up, she looked up at Hanako, and murmured a quick thanks, bowing, before turning to leave. Thinking better of it, she turned around. "Taisa, is there anything in particular you want the engineers working on, or should we just be prepared to respond?"

"One of these shipping containers contains some Quantum Nucleonic Cells, which are a good backup power source. Find somewhere to install them," Hanako replied, pleased that Kumiko was being proactive. "

Konoka Miyazawa said:

Sune stood for a moment. Some of Konoka's comments were close to his own during his interview. "First, as for there being two medics, that is as you said the Taisa's decision. As for my experience; I spent sixteen months aboard the Bouken, where I started my learning basic first aid, and the use of homeopathic healing on Nepleslian physiology. When I left the Bouken aboard the YSS Yaiba, I started learning Yamataian medicine from the ship's medic. Once the Yaiba arrived at Yamatai I enlisted in the Star Army, and took training in the Medical graduating in the top 10 percent of my class."

Sune paused for a moment to form his words. "Until things change, we obviously need to work together. There is new medical equipment in the Medbay that was installed while we were down on planet. It became available while the Eucharis was out on its last mission. So you need to famliarize youreself with it. I suggest that we both go to Medbay, and review the medical records for those members that were already on the ship, and we can make arrangements to split getting base line readings on all new crew members, as well as initial mental backups."

Nika gave Hanako a salute before rushing off after Ramiro, who, by the time the neko reached the bridge, he had already done the necessary procedures.

"Valencia-Hei, looks like you got everything under control. Anything else we should be preparing once we move out?"

Ramiro looked up at Nika as she approached. "To be perfectly honest, I have no idea. This is the first vessel I've worked upon and I've never actually flown a ship this big except in simulators. If there is anything you know to do from any experience you may have the main console's all yours." With that he stood up and quickly started walking out of the bridge. "I will go and alert the Taisa that the ship is ready for takeoff."

Ramiro walked back to the area where the group had been congregated. Seeing Kumiko he gave her a little wave and a smile before approaching Hanako and saluting. "Taisa, the ship is ready for departure ma'am. Destination is set for the system HX-2."

Hanako looked at Ramiro in mild confusion, then set her hands on her hips. "Did you know this ship has internal communications?" she asked incredulously. It wouldn't do to have her crew trying to run around the ship in a battle, when all the compartments would be sealed off with locked blast shutters. "Anyway," she continued, back to her normal state, "did you plot the course through unexplored territory or via the patrolled spacelane and the Samurai Sector?"

Ramiro blushed a little in embarrassment that he had not realized that there were in fact internal communications. However, he hid his embarrassment well. "My apologies ma'am. I have charted the course in roughly a straight line once we exit the Ketsurui Military Sector. The path has a slight curve in the intended path of travel in order to avoid the FTL Deadzone to the galactic south of the Samurai Sector."
