Kata'nova's ears flickered slightly when she heard Rin speak. "I am fine thank you," said the young Kit, although Rin wouldn't notice the smile behind her faceplate, she turned back toward the front and kept her arms folded as she waited for a response - but the response she noticed wasn't exactly what she had expected. "Captain," Kata'nova unfolded her arms and glanced off to her side. "My suit is picking up a nearby signal, the origin is from my people, but the signal isn't coming from a ship...."

Ki'kayshea'ne System

Several kilometers away from the ISC Tanoshimi, a probe that had been on standby mode and thus in what most would consider a 'stealth' state, suddenly came online with a rear running light flickering into existence. The probe unfolded its four solar panels while its manuvering thrusters engaged and reoriented the probe toward the Tano', its optical eye focused onto the ship while several antenna's extended out of the crafts 'rear'.

Rin smiled at the girl and stood beside her "I wonder what it is?" he looked at the Kit then back to the front "it could be a satellite transmitting something for you." He sighed slightly "I am guessing we will find out when we get there then" he looked around the Bridge "I am sorry, as an engineer and such a low rank I should stay quiet."

Josea turned to Kata'nova. What could be out there that is not a ship. Do you mean some sort of weapon system, or a fighter like the one you flew perhaps?" he asked. He looked over at Freyja and hoped that she would adjust her scans accordingly.

Yoshiro followed Sheela as he headed towards the mess hall. When he arrived at the mesa he waited for Sheela to ask her a question about where she was from. "So where are you from?" Yoshiro asked Sheela.

Sheela looked thoughtful for a moment as she grabbed her selection of food. She rattled out a string of alphanumeric sequence which was obviously her last known coordinates she remembered. Seeing the confused look according to her perception of Yoshiro. "A long ways from here. Even at the light speeds wez capable of, it would take several generation to get there." She looked him, holding her tray of food, waiting for him to get his food. "Where yooz from?"

"Keep us appraised of what you find, Freyja." Misaki noted, adding, "They might have monitoring stations able to receive us, perhaps they activate based on her transmission? We may know soon if this is going well." Misaki knew she did not have to tell them to pay attention and remain guarded, the kind of first contact mission they were on was bound to make several people anxious, and even more soldiers ready to react to anything they could learn at a moment's notice.

The Chusa nodded to the XO for the trip, and then nudged her knees together in her seat a bit more tightly, "Analyze it as best you can." The veteran looked to Kata'nova, "How long do you think it will take them to reply once they have received your message?"

Kata'nova thought for a few moments about what Josea had asked. "Mmm, I doubt its a weapon system; its to far away from any of the planets here so it'd be rather pointless to have a lone defense system this far out. As for a fighter, thats also doubtful, like with a defense sat - a fighter wouldn't be this far from a planet without some kind of support."

The Kit, however, was more than a little curious about what it was that had triggered and that her suit was presently picking up - it wasn't like anything she'd seen before when she was with her people - perhaps a probe that had only recently been developed? She didn't know.

"Not long," she said and looked over at Misaki, and to which it wasn't long as she was about to speak again she heard something over her helmet's speakers - her suit chimmed a response was being sent back to her. The response, a message, was being sent back through the object that the ship had picked up moments before. "And they are responding..." she muttered as she listened to the message.

"They are asking to meet up in person, they want to ensure that I am who I claim to be."

Signals almost right away. Eiven quirked an eyebrow, finding that a little too easy; but noting Kurusu's composure kept quite for the moment while an analysis was in progress. The response however, was one of the better kinds to get back.

"Best reply we could get, given the situation," the doctor shrugged, "The lack of blind trust speaks well for them already; but it's also better for us that we're not in trouble yet either."

Mess Hall
In response to Sheela's question he said "I am a proud citizen and soldier of Yamatai. I will bleed for her people and I will die for her people." This was said with pride as he grabbed his food. "Though I hope that it does not come to that, I knew the risks when I signed up. But to be serious I grew up in a pretty good neighborhood. I acted pretty stupid when I was growing up but that place was always there. No matter what happens, I want to protect those that I love more than anything." He realized that he may be getting off-track so he decided to ask about Sheela's family. "So what was your family like?" He asked wondering about her family structure.

Mess Hall

Sheela chose the nearest table for 4 and sat down. "Iz have both parents and two older siblings. Daddy is a tech that worked all sorts of vehicles and flying crafts along with mez brother. Momma and sister took care of home and administration stuff. Iz branched out from the family business and became a pilot. Iz had the wanderlust and probably the only one to go to the stars."

Sheela missed her family and was little envious that Yoshiro still had family. "Iz will do mez best to help yooz protect those yooz love. Since Star Army whont let me fly or fight, Iz became a tech to keep yooz equipment in fine form. And Iz get to return to the stars."

While she spoke, she nibbled on her food as she liked her food warm. But took bites small enough not to be rude while eating and talking. "Whots yooz home world like?"

Sitting at her station Freyja had been filtering through all of the EM that the ship was picking up. there were a few colonies transmitting, along with a few ships going between them. "Ma'am I have sources for a few colonies, my guess would be harvesting colonies. With the EMs from ships going about work out there." She continued rattling off a few more thing about the different signals and where they were all located, then she paused an started looking at on in particular, one that hadn't been transmitting before Kata's message.

Yoshiro thought about it for a moment. "It's a beautiful place. Full of people who are going about their routines. Where I live there's a cherry blossom and we have a cherry blossom viewing every spring." Yoshiro said.

He looked a bit wistful. "But I think the true strength and beauty is in its people. We have weathered some tough storms recently but even flowers can grow in the worst of places. You can be anything that you want to be and all you have to do is to work for it.

Sheela nodded as she listened, ears perked and open as she ate her meal. "I did mez best, but they said mez responses were a bit slower than the others of mez team. Iz had the moves and tactics down as it seamed to be the same as where Iz came from. But not being able to direct interface with the power armor. I had this lag time which meant that Iz had to anticipate commends and maneuvers. Coming from a tech background and piloting skills. Iz tried to become a fighter pilot. But again yooz Nekoes had the advantage of yooz SPINE connections."

Sheela looked up, "Iz apologize for using slang to describe yooz." Hoping not to be insultive to Yoshiro. "So they placed mez in the field of being a tech." She smiled warmly at Yoshiro. "So don't worry about mez. Iz keep the porch light on and the hearth warm."

Studying the signal for a few more moments, Freyja spoke up, "Ma'am There is another signal i just came live after Kata's broadcast. It seems to have power systems that the ship can not identify, and I have never seen them before. It is about 5.4... correction 5.5 light seconds away. Too small to be a ship, but possibly a small craft? It has four protrusions. Possibly weapons, but I do not have a clear enough scan of it yet to be sure of the protrusions."

The red head continued to study the odd signal trying to figure out what it was. Had they set of a security system?

"Get me a proper scan of that, we need to know what it is." Kurusu replied, nodding to Eiven, though she was speaking for Freyja's benefit too, "There are several outcomes, but if they are not coming to meet us in good faith, it is of high likelihood it will start off with them tracking weapons on us, depending which faction it is, the next part will go according to one of our plans, I am hoping the one where we do not need to call the squadron." That was not only her job, but she wanted everyone present to have a mission where the threat of conflict was the closest thing they were going to encounter. It would do them some good, but given it was basically an active warzone they were going into, she was thinking tactically more than diplomatically, at least until things flipped one way or the other.

"Run another quick check on our defensive systems." The Chusa ordered, "Once we get the location of the rendezvous, signal our agreement, and scan ahead for vessels or other possible contacts."

Finished with her work on the armours, Saki left cargo-hold. She walked up the elevator and traveled to the bridge, deciding to leave Yoshiro to make friend with the mouse girl. He was always too tense around Saki after all. Better give him some breathing room. The blue-haired nako was not hungry anyway. A short elevator ride later she walked into the bridge and stood guard by the doorway. She have Kurusu a bow.

"Armours are prepped ma'am," she reported. "Hopefully we won't need them at all."

Bridge to Mess Hall

Rin left the Bridge as he didn't seem to be needed there and made his way to the Mess Hall as he didn't know where to go really while they waited for people to plan and sort out what was needed, he thought that the Mess Hall would be quiet and no one would be there as he entered he noticed a couple of people but wouldn't speak to them unless they spoke to him. As he walked his long white hair covered a lot of his face from others and he was happy about that.

Mess Hall

Sheela finished her meal and relaxed back in her seat. She was enjoying a minute or two of rest. She took notice of Rin when he entered the Mess. Seeing how he avoided them, she refrained from greeting the other tech, letting him have his space. She just waved her hand at Rin and left it up to him whether or not to respond. Besides she was having a delightful conversation with Yoshiro.

At first, Sheela wanted to jump all over Rin for not helping out with the prepping for flight and other ship board calibrations. But then who knows what the other did when not in sight of each other.

Eiven nodded in response to Kurusu, "It is true that we cannot see their hand; but it is just as likely they can't see ours. The flop came down, we placed our bet, and they called. Hopefully the bend doesn't end up a problem and we can avoid blood in the river."

Josea turned to Kata'nova. "When you say meet up? You mean a physical meeting and not just visual. I just want to be sure that we are talking about the same thing." He was fairly confident that she meant what she said. But given the translation was still a work in progress he wanted clarification.

"A face to face sounds good, but do we know which faction they are with? And where would such a meeting take place?" He added.
