YSS Kaiyo II
Power Armor Bay

While Herrick-hei had declared her intent to find the quartermaster, something Mehitabel had no interest in stopping her from doing, the Natria Green-clad Elysian had decided a better recourse was the PA bay. Even if there was a meal going on that everyone was supposed to attend the odds were still pretty good she could find someone down there. Someone fairly senior. It was hard to comprehend now, she reflected, how much fear had once been attached to this room in her mind.

Blood in zero-g, spinning, the stars, Eucharis behind her, and the sharp stop in friendly (armored) arms. Part of her wondered what Suites or any of her old shipmates would think about her slipping away to check out her own set of armor, to make sure it truly was there, stored safe, in all its wing protecting glory.

Candon for his part was indeed in the armor bay with parts neatly arranged in rows behind the armor rack on which his project hung while he patiently soldered circuits smaller than a grain of sand. The sound of the entrance door opening would indeed catch his attention though he couldn't possibly take his eyes off of the circuit if he ever intended to find it again.

"Don't worry, Shosa, I'll have it ready for the next sortie," he stated dully as he sustained his focus, assuming it was Jinja Emi there to micromanage him.

"Who?" Bel answered the bored voice down the line of racked armors. The speaker was bent into something, well, an armor set obviously, hard at work. Catching her lack of courtesy, she straightened slightly, "Pardon the interruption, heisho. Just new personnel checking to make sure their kit's here."

Candon paused a moment, not surprised that it wasn't the Shosa but that it was more familiar.

"I'll be right up," he claimed as he finished the circuit, "did you need any help with your suit, Bel?"

"Candon?" She stopped in place, waiting, mouth a line and eyes blank for a second as her bird brain checked the facts. Frankly she had just assumed the mental association between the working petty officer and Candon Suites was just bleed over from her day dream.

Bel is waiting casually, but gives him a quick Elysian-style bow that hides her smile for a flash, "Should I be surprised? Or have they realized a Suites-heisho per power armor bay is a valuable force-multiplier?"

"Surprise is definitely more like it. They sent me to kill Eve but Eden seemed to find a better use for her," he replied with a smile as he finished the solder weld and removed his SACOS, which he used for magnifying the tiny circuits of the complicated electronics. Stepping away from the rolling table he approached his winged friend with arms open, "How have you been?"

"Eve? Eden? I am guessing the latter is Teien-shosa that everyone's busy, ahem, commemorating in the wardroom, and the rest sounds far above my pay grade," she replies, trying to piece all of that together in her head. It hurt not having administrative access to ship records at times like this; there was no popping her communicator open to follow the path.

Bel stared at him for a minute, but before the timer ticked over to awkward lifted her arms up to wrap around him, leaning into his shoulder. Don't mention business. She stuck straight to the facts, "Alright. Busy. Joined the infantry, became a Scout, detached duty with the 1st Expeditionary Fleet's Reconnaissance and Intelligence Group for a while. Now they've sent me here."

As she let go, her wings wiggled and her eyes brightened up, "How about you though? You look, good!"

"Thanks, you too. I can tell you're no secretary anymore, you got yourself some muscle now! You're like Tsuguka with wings," he exaggerated as he let go. It was a strange thing to see her as a soldier now. Formerly the woman was a only a document's terror, but now he needed to be concerned about getting beaten a second time in the dojo.

"It's hard to know where to start since I left. I built a corporation on a planet way out in Western space and used it to secure tech data on like every Kuvexian ship, that was fun. I've finally just gone ahead and built a full custom powered armor so you know that's going to be insane. Don't be fooled, that used to be an Elysian suit, not that there's much left from the original. I caught fire in that battle where we lost Hanako's world. She's pretty upset about that," Candon listed missing one huge event, "oh, yeah! Masumi and I got married too! I wanted he to transfer over to Kaiyo but unfortunately science is the only things she's stubborn about. She's on a project that is need to know, and apparently I don't." He shrugged, it wasn't uncommon to keep projects quiet until it was necessary.

"So you have an armor project?" he inquired.

"Hahaha, Tsuguka-san could still pitch me through a couple of bulkheads, but there's a little more there," she admits with pride. He may have been exaggerating for effect, but the compliment still stuck.

As ever, Bel listened quietly to his account. It really shouldn't have been surprising Candon told her everything, not really, that's how he worked and it felt a little silly to have shied away from asking. At the same time, it really was better for him to take it at his own pace. So she nodded, made just a few comments, mostly variations of 'oh wow'. Her eyes flicked downward at the mention of Hanako's World and she nodded 'I imagine'.

"Aaaah~!" she gasped in approval, and poorly restrained delight as she clasp her hands together. Bel nodded in approval, "My congratulations to the both of you! Hopefully the wonders of virtual reality help keep you at least a tiny bit closer..."

The Elysian looked past him towards her armor, "Not yet! I will have to see what the infantry team leader wants me to do. Apparently we have two Scout-qualified infantry troopers."

"So what role are you playing in the armor team?" he asked?

"Not sure. There's another Scout aboard, a marksman I believe. May end up as her spotter, or we may end a mini-recon section," Bel shrugs slightly, "I have not met any of the existing Kaiyo armor team yet... So, I suppose when the devil drives, and all that."

"You can only be so proactive," Candon shrugged, "so how has your personal life been"

"At my pay grade," Bel agrees. Then... Personal life? She... Didn't have one. She shrugs slightly, "Nothing that really surpasses getting married. Or comes close. I've been in the field pretty much since I left Eucharis, or training."

The spook just nodded. There wasn't really much said, but maybe there was more to learn.

"Are you any good?" he asked.

"Moderately. I'm good at being quiet, and I actually know how to use armor now," she says.

She shakes her head, "Nothing compared to you, or Tsu-san, or up to SAINT standards... But practice makes you better, right?"

Again he shrugged.

"I guess we'll see. It sounds like you've been practicing a lot," Candon stated, going back over to his work station, "I've been toying with the idea of organizing some drills to gauge the crew's abilities. It's not my job anymore but I'd like to know who's good and who needs reassignment. The war is going to make it harder to arrange."

"Oh? Who is in charge here?" she asked, carefully skirting any suggestion of feeling out an opinion on them from Candon. Yet the implication remained hovering even after she followed him towards his project, Bel tipped a hand slightly, "True. Although the reaper does tend to winnow out those of... Less competence, from field operations. Which has not been me. Yet."

The PA boomed out. She flashed Candon a brief smile, "Up and at it huh? See you out there, Suites-heisho!"

Mehitabel bounded to her armor, donning it like the second skin it functionally was. A very heavy one loaded with sophisticated electronics and ordnance. Flexing her wings, she joined up with the growing group of infantry listening to their mission brief. There was admittedly a flash of surprise at being allotted a slot in the first wave, being brand new and all. Oh well, maybe they just wanted cannon fodder. That thought was surprisingly less disturbing than it might have been.

Closing up with the rest of the team, her eye flicked across her HUD taking in the information being presented on their target so far.

Alastair was pleasantly pleased that Kamikaze thought highly of him. While at no point was he trying to be bold, it just seemed in his nature to go above and beyond when it came to certain things. A smile crossed his face as she agreed with his corny team name of Yin and Yang. He had to admit to himself that he was a little star struck by her. She was beautiful and carried herself with pride. Features Alastair could not help but admire and enjoy being around.

When they entered the armor bay Alastair wasted no time to get suited up. He listened to all the details as Kamikaze spoke about the mission. He had no changes to his Mindy as he felt if there was any fighting it would be close and personal.

Alastair got word from Boss that he could decide how the team would get onto the ship. "Boss, we shall teleport to the ship. Please advise best location to teleport into. Preference is the bridge if possible."

"Alright crew, we are going to be jumping to the ship by teleportation. That means." His words stopped as a firm hand slapped him on the booty. He turned slightly to see a grinning Kamikaze near him. It would seem his bravado had reached dangerous levels. He cleared his voice acting as if nothing had happen. "As I was saying, this means if there is any trouble and we have to quickly leave that the stand-by team shall give much needed support. Either way be on your guard."

Alastair finished his speech and sent out orders to his team. Orders were to secure the initial teleportation area before splitting up into teams to secure the ship. Key locations to investigate was the bridge, engineering, sleeping area and med bay. These were key objectives leaving open to the crew to investigate other locations as they seen fit.

He turned and returned the favor to Kamikaze giving her a tap on the backside. "Good to know you will be my rear guard. Keep it safe and can have more when I return." He gave her a sly smile as he put on his helmet. He was a little shocked at how quickly he got comfortable and informal with his new XO Kamikaze. Though this lighthearted nature of Kamikaze was refreshing so he did not mind.

"Any questions feel free to ask. We leave shortly." He closed the comms and started to walk around inspecting his crew. He seemed to have a little more bounce in his step than usually.

It did not take long for him to find one of the crew who seemed completely lost. He flipped up the records and seen it was none other than Elenor Herrick. She was very new to the ship so more than likely was a little lost as to what to do. Alastair quickly walked over to her and removed his helmet. "Welcome aboard Nitô Hei Herrick. I noticed you seemed a little lost. Fear not, as I shall help you get suited up. Come this way, I know exactly where your Mindy is at." He placed a hand on her shoulder and escorted her not too far from where she was standing to a waiting Mindy. "Here we are, just jump inside and you will see the mission details on the HUD. If you need anything else, just ask." He flashed her a smile and put his helmet back on.

While reporting Alastair's MO to the bridge, the MEGAMI spoke to Alastair.

"The Midori-class' small Plumeria-type bridge is highly accessible in its current state, as her shields are not up and no power output has been seen on sensors. Exact coordinates have been sent to you, Chui."

Bridge

"Bemont-chui has made his desires known," Hoshi said aloud, crossing her legs. "Helm, keep us steady at this location until the away team makes their departure, then move us to your best estimate of a secure location within the system. Stay within teleportation range for the away team."

"Thank you MEGAMI, a big help as always." He said in reply to her giving him the coordinates for the bridge. He looked them over and the layout of the bridge for this type of ship. He then sent to his away team the main coordinates with small off sets. He was not going to say who should land where on the bridge and instead would let his very capable team figure it out.

Alastair was feeling great, taking the lead on an important mission. He just hoped that it would be boring with no action at all. Yet his gut was telling him a different story. Something happen to this ship years ago and it might still be there, waiting for more victims.

As their team leader fed the coordinates for the jump out to them, Bel did her final suit checkout. She acknowledged as soon as her own position was mentally fixed. A dead gunship, missing for years, since her first cruise in fact... Weird. Unsettling. Still, it would be one in a familiar setting.

"Sir, I served on a Plumeria-class. Even if the interior's ripped up, I should have a pretty good idea where things are," Mehitabel offered a comment for Alastair's information, hoping that wouldn't come off as useless chatter. It wasn't a lie after all, even if the Plumeria she knew best had been highly modified the layout itself wasn't vastly different.

Getting pointed to where her armor and weapon was racked up ready for her to jump in, Elenor nodded to the Chui, giving a quick salute as she walked over. One habit she picked up as Ranger, was that she was already wearing her Type-22 bodysuit under her Type-37 uniform. So with a quick few movements, she doffed her jacket, boots and pants, stuffing the items into the butt-pack of her personalized Mindy, though some would question that, owing the light amount of modules installed. Still, slipping into the suit was second nature, soon sealing up around the neko as she settled into it and synced up to the controls.

Grabbing her LASR after closing up the suit and doing a environmental check, she checked it as well. It was a Mk.I model, since she expected to be combating in close quarters when wearing her Mindy. Receiving the destination ping of where she was to arrive via the teleportation unit, she took a few deep breaths, reaffirmed her grip on the rifle, and sent the correct commands to ready it for a jump to the destination. She also took a moment to steady her nerves as she imagined what happened when she used the teleportation unit, no matter what the reality of it was.

And soon she was appearing in her designated point on the other ship, turning on her lights to better see what lay around her.

Alastair got a reply back from Mehitabel offering insight into the ship they were about to teleport too. He looked over her details to remind himself about her past post and seen her words rang true. "Perfect, this first hand experience may come in handy. We shall look to you for details once we land."

So far things were moving forward in a good way. This mission he felt would have much success.

"Alright team, green light to teleport over. I shall be last to arrive, let's go hunting." A smile crossed his face as the signal to teleport went green.

"Itto Hei, Mark Oaklen green for operation sir. Just tell me where ya want me. Feeling good and ready for this one.", Mark said grinning under his helm.

Yes, He was ready, and savagely motivated. He was fighting for his promise to Nerai, and to bring the wrath to the kuvies. This mission seemed like it was possibly unlikely for combat, but it could also very well be a trap. Some part of him hoped it was, because he wanted to be grim reaper to the kuvies. Taking their lives and bringing a swift justice for their actions.

He prepped his teleport module for jump as he got into position. "Ready for the dive, sensors are active ready, ammo green, suit green, green for mission completion.", He added enthusiastically.

Bel acknowledged again, finishing her loadout check; the weapon of choice for today was a LASR Mk. I with attached SLAG. Magazines were all in place, she had drawn mostly the brown-tipped shrapnel rounds for a boarding op with a single six-rounder of HEI, and her SiZi M38 where the service pistol usually was. There were also two speedloaders of Heavy cartridges as backup for the loaded six Standard rounds. Just in case she needed to shoot through a bulkhead or something. Her Ke-M2-4E set itself was fairly bare, with only a shoulder mounted capacitor and two leg mounted NSB pods.

Sacre nodded at Alastair's plan, she carefully checked each of the team members before nodding to herself. Her own teleport module had a bit more range then the usual. She put the marker where she would be teleporting to, the medbay. She gripped her rifle, and on Alistiar's go, activated her teleporter.

Odo listened to the briefing while checking his gear, He had his engineering tools in a butt pack, and everything was in place. He fired up his teleport module. He sent a ping that would show he was volunteering to check out the engineering bay once they teleported over, and then locked coordinates on the bridge site and activated the teleporter, wondering what he would find over there.

Elenor's visuals were the first to pick up the feed of the Plumeria-type bridge, which stood frozen in place before her. A Nekovalkyrja captain sat in her central position of command with an agape mouth, as if to speak an order, though the words she had been saying were now potentially lost to time. Her fingers still gripped her chair's armrest, as if preparing to stand, though her expression was relatively neutral and not as if under duress. A few other bridge crew were motionless like her, but appeared as if at work at their consoles. They were covered in a marginal, but noticeable, layer of small dust particles. Soon, Mark and Odo were seeing the appearance of the Yamataian starship's bridge crew for themselves. Their AIES' infrared scanners picked up none of the normal life signs one would see.

Med Bay

The modified Sakura-type Medical Laboratory showed no signs of much use, though many of the surfaces had a fine layer of minuscule dust particles on them. Sacre would easily recognize the PMS-1M charging station and Type 32 Remote Backup Unit and Type 30 MTBU as the modifications the Midori-class sported in this section of its small interior. Nobody was inside of the med bay, save for Sacre.

Med Bay

Sacre quickly checked the small lab and found herself alone. "Medbay clear. I'm going to see what I can find here." She called out, and started to go over the room more carefully. First, checking supplies while she waited for the engineering team to report back on if they could get the power back. "Someone check to see if the Soul Savior is still here. We might be able to rescue the crew."

Elenor, once she had her bearings, had raised her rifle to her shoulder, and started to move around, carefully. At a glance, the whole thing had a kind of surreal stillness to it. But, since Elenor lacked any kit to tell if the atmosphere is safe to breath, or even how much of one there is, Elenor wasn't gonna pop off her helmet. She knew there was definitely enough of an atmosphere for dust to have collected on everything she could see that wasn't the team now arriving.

Moving around to any unoccupied terminal she could find, her goal was to see about getting ahold of any kind of status report or mission log.

Odo popped into the bridge, bringing his gun up. He noticed that he wasnt the first one there. It looked undisturbed, apart from the bodies. He recoiled a bit in surprise. That was unexpected. Whatever had happened, had happened fast, as the bodies seemed to be in the middle of work. The first person to arrive, Odo checked his hud, it was crew member named Elenor Herrick, was already at one of the stations looking through it. He also did a quick sweep just to double check. Satisfied that it all seemed fine, he moved to the door.

"Im heading to Engineering." He said over comms to the team leader as he walked out the door of the bridge. "Ill keep you updated."

Mark gave a nod before teleporting over to medbay.

Looking around and agreeing with Sacre's assessment he turned to leave. "Oaklen here, heading to secure and check the armory. Will give status reports regularly.", the armored man said before giving one last comment to the Separa, "Give me a ping if you need me."

With that, he left the medbay, and entered the eerily still halls. Mark used his optics IR function to scan as he went, moving his view over every surface as he moved. Despite the calm state of things, he still kept his weapon ready, the LATR set to SMG mode.

Klaus teleported in to the medbay, following the only other person he knew on the ship, Sacre-heisho. Normally as he teleported he would have made a corny joke to lighten the mood. But now, he had a job to do. People relied on him. He had to be professional and efficient. He quickly took stock of his surroundings finding them empty of people except for the Heisho and another soldier he didn't know. He heard her suggestion to search for the Soul Savior and saw as Oaklen-hei, his name supplied by Klaus's hud, moved to check the armory.

"Heisho." He called. "Do you need to me to hold the medbay with you? If not I would like to begin searching the ship for the Soul Savior." He knew he might be getting ahead himself, and being reckless by suggesting such a course of action. But at that moment he could not think of himself. He thought of the comrades that might need his help.

None of the sub-systems of the ship would turn on and the console Elenor was at would not light up with its normal volumetrics.

Med Bay

Sacre would see in her observations that the medical supplies were well stocked and almost unused throughout the ship. Every piece of equipment was accounted for, though a small handful of oft-used tools were set in the cabinet slightly out of place. In the smaller examination room, nothing was out of order and a Type 33 Datapad was at the workstation that the ship's doctor normally used as an office space within the laboratory.

Engineering

Odo saw that the ship's primary and secondary generators were offline and none of the control panels were online in engineering.

Hallway

On another deck reached via rear access points on the ship, Mark saw the solid Yamataium doors that interlocked to form a tight seal around the armory were undamaged and closed. The forcefield associated with this type of nested door was inactive, though.

Med Bay

"I will oh Lord High Santo Hei." Sacre responded completely straightly. However, Mark had known Sacre long enough to know when she was amused by something.

To Klaus she said, "Go, I don't think I'm going to need you here."

She picked up the Datapad from the workstation and thumbed it on, trying to see what she could find out about what was happening from the Doctor's logs.

The rechargeable power cell had some juice in it, which was made apparent by it lighting up under Sacre's touch. The encrypted wireless access to PANTHEON was made apparent to the medical officer by the network error message in Yamataigo. The Type 22 Hinomaru was emblazoned above the words with a royal blue background.
