Hoshi was in a peppy mood as she waded through those in the wardroom until she was towards the starboard side of the ship, underneath the volumetric Hinomaru on the wall. To her sides on the hydroponic walls were bright orange nasturtium and tomatoes growing near one another, as well as a few other herbs. There was a box on a table beneath the crimson emblem with the Mindy 4 at its center as well as a large, clear, circular bowl filled with what looked like water. Above her the gallery seated some of the crew, most of which were attentive now that the captain had arrived.
"We have had our R&R," Hoshi began. "Which was more like responding and resisting than rest and relaxation, but we did what we had to do to protect our own." She looked pointedly at a few, like Gravity and Wyatt, then around the room. She uncovered the lid of the box, "Type 33/C Civilian NSP for everyone present, on my dime. We should never find ourselves in the face of danger without something to light the way. Weaponry is one luminous form of guidance, but not the only one. Having a clear concept of the laws of your nation and regulations of the Star Army helps more than you can ever anticipate." She didn't have to look at Muyomi, the tealy haired and purple eyed Nekovalkyrja knew what she had done.
"After the briefing, please pick up your 33/C NSP from this box," the captain said, closing the lid and walking towards the clear bowl of fluid. "On to the mission briefing, which I will let the Shosa handle."
"Thank you, Chusa," Eden said while her golden eyes scanned the room before they settled ambiguously on the port-side wall. "Many of you were present when we went into a universe, not Ayenee, but the universe ruled by an alternate version of Eve, where we met versions of ourselves that were far from reality. Where we encountered the IYS Kaiyō I."
She breathed out heavily, memories stirring, before continuing.
"This universe's existence is infringing on ours. As one of you can personally attest, they have been working to discover transuniversal technology. That lack of transuniversal technology and their utter dependence on aether, along with the presence of the All, put us on unequal footing and we were able to escape, most of us with our lives."
Eden said without hesitating, now, "But they have managed to create transuniversal gates to slip into other universes and, slowly but surely, they have found us. Probes indicate they have retracted their forces from the Kikyō Sector after what looks to be only one initial scouting mission on their part. Our job is to covertly transition into their universe once more, purposefully this time. Our engineers," she looked to Kikios and the others there, "have done a fine job keeping the old TTD up to date and re-installed her for this journey. We are to proceed immediately after this briefing. Any questions?"
