Space Station
Hangar 2
As soon as Mat got the orders to join up with the second assault team, he began to make his way towards the nearby hangar where they were supposed to meet up before going to rescue William.
Going outside the station was too risky, he decided, because of all of the point defense out there. After determining this, he found his way over to a corridor that he thought went towards the proper hangar, opened the door and began to make his way down it at a fast sprint.
When he made it past a couple of doors that led to the innards of the station, his sensors would pick up signatures just beyone the door in front of him.
Matsuvo took a brief moment, and examined the signatures to the best of his ability. He could make out ten power armors in the next area.
With reflexes honed by training and experience, Mat slid to a stop just before the door, and pulled two grenades off his waist, one from either side. One was a standard EMP grenade, and the other a scalar pulse grenade. He primed them, opened the door and tossed them through, waiting for a moment for the effects of the two grenades to dissapate.
The EMP grenade should weaken or shut down the shields of the large group of power armors, and the scalar one should wreak havok with their electronic systems.
After the effects dissapated, Matsuvo rounded the corner with his accelerated plasma rifle raised, appraising the situation and identifying threats.
One L'Kor in power armor was struggling to get to their feet while a half dozen others lay scattered. The other L'Kor behind the door the scalar and EMP had gone into had dispersed, though and the only place they could have gone was beyone a different door deep within the security ready room the dying L'Kor were in.
Mat activated the forearm weapons on his left arm and allowed his right to drop to his side. The forearm weapons, which were rated to be somewhat effective against mecha sized targets, should have no problem taking out the unshielded enemies down on the floor, and he wanted to save his heavier ordenance for when he needed it.
Mat swept his forearm, which was now blazing and spitting out Aether fire, across the unlucky L'kor soldiers.
After those targets were eliminated, he moved up to the room the other L'kor had run into, and scanned the room with his sensors.
He couldn't risk having them come up behind him. Four more targets were set up, two on the ground and two behind heavy pieces of furniture, in an adjoining room, but Mat's sensors weren't able to pick up their positions or numbers, just that there were signatures beyond the door.
Mat decided to spare the grenades for this group. He knew that of the ten he had encountered, he had killed a good half dozen or so, therefore there couldn't be very many of that group left.
He opened the door and took a moment to scan his eyes across the room, having his suit lock onto each enemy he could see, and then having it fire his shoulder mounted gun at each target in turn while he brought his rifle to bear on any that survived.
Mat took some moderate damage, as was expected of his brute force entrance to the room with the L'Kor within it. Within their gold and green PA they moved quickly and efficiently, but their own shields also couldn't stand much more from his attack.
Mat flared his thrusters briefly, jetting over to the closest enemy and jamming his fist into their torso before firing his forearm weapon multiple times into them, and then grabbed the body and used it as a shield. He spun around slowly, facing each target in turn and fired a single shot from his plasma rifle into each of them, aiming for the center of mass.
The L'Kor knocked by Mat's fist moved away from him and made to bludgeon him on the back of his head with the butt of the L'Kor's own aether rifle while Mat focused on the other three, one of which had suffered power failure in their suits from Mat's attack.
When the blow collided with the back of his head, Mat was jarred for a moment, but there was only so much a blow like that could do. He then proceded to use the hand holding the L'kor to flip them over to in front of him, and tossed them against one of the remaining power armors.
Definitely not hard enough to kill either the one who had been thrown or the one who he had thrown at, but hopefully hard enough to knock them down long enough for him to put a shot through the two.
Both of the L'Kor in front of him ended up fatally wounded after Mat put two rounds, one for each, in them.
Mat then concentrated on the one remaining opponent, who he charged at after activating his forearm weapon to act like a blade, and attempted to get in a fatal slice.
The forearm weapons began to pound into the L'Kor's brittle unshielded armor from when Mat assailed them previously. The opponent fell to the ground, simply knocked off of his feet but had not suffered internally as the forearm projections had simply gone through the armor, not their body yet.
They flapped his great wings before falling completely and with a small thrust was pushing into the air and held out a hand for Mat, as if asking forgiveness.
Mat barely paused for a moment, before gesturing to the L'kor in a clear message to leave, and not to even think about trying to follow him.
The L'Kor grabbed at Mat more fully, groping towards his neck and started pulling on Mat's Mindy's panels of Zesu. He was not anywhere near capable of tearing any of the Mindy apart. That didn't stop him from looking like he was trying.
Inside his armor, Mat sighed, then gripped at the feeble L'kor's helmet and promptly jerked the head off to a painful looking angle.
The body slumped and was dead.
Mat scanned the room briefly, making sure that there were no more threats before he checked the radio chatter again. It seemed like everyone was making their way back to the Kaiyo now, and that he'd been held up for longer than he thought.
He made his way to the hangar where the rest of his power armored comrades were gathering, and waved a weary hello.
"Sorry I'm late, I got caught up on my way over to join the assault team, and had to deal with a few L'kor."
