Notes: So after our previous little snag with Layout and how it should be and such. So, I thought about it and remembered a quote that I think we can all agree with.

...always strive to do better than that which came before you.

Don't you all think we should strive to make SARP as good as it can be? This is a place of limitless potential, and when it comes to what people see on this site I don't think we should ever settle for "Good Enough". We should strive to be better always, so that when people look at SARP they see nothing but the best.

So, I set about trying to solve two problems. How to make the current Wiki layouts look better to the eye, and how to do the first goal without breaking mobile phones. This has been the largest contender in this case. I feel I have done it.

There is currently only one break on any of these pages, and that is the finance chart on Cleo Oconner. This break has been declared reasonable and expected by Wes, thus I do not need to fix it, as fixing it has turned out to be impossible.

@Wes only approval, @Fred @Ametheliana @CadetNewb @META_mahn @Arbitrated for comments and critisism, anyone else is also welcome. Please abide by rules, and despite it being WIP, I agree with it so much that I also ask people abide by the rules of this page, written by Wes as I feel it could not be better said.

I'm not really sure what's going on in this thread, but it seemed like a good place to present a template I'd talked about elsewhere.

Here's the military corps template. It was originally envisioned by @Wes for SA Logistics. I used it for SAINT next. @Ethereal used SAINT for SA Military Police. I feel like its format has been proven and generally looks nice. All three articles currently using it are linked on the template.

I've taken out the wraps from the SAINT template, though they've never caused any problems, but could easily put them back if that's okay. Bulleted lists look far better in columns than they do stretched out vertically.

Anyway, if it's not wanted then I don't really mind. But it's something that doesn't currently exist (not a template revamp) and has been useful for both Ethereal and I after Wes first used it for Logistics. It can obviously be used for any military corps, SAoY or otherwise, too.

But you sort of made edits by adding things Wes said he didn't want used improperly, allowing for greater use of them being used improperly.

The only argument I have heard for the utilization of the wrap is that if used improperly it breaks Wiki pages on Mobile. I specifically went through the task and time to figure out how to utilize the Wrap plugin to find out how and when it breaks the Wiki code as mentioned in my previous thread.

I don't know how Wes uses the sites like function but he has liked several of my posts regarding my findings, and all these pages use my findings.

Furthermore. Because I can confirm, and no on has been able to provide the evidence of the contrary, that my code and layout suggestions utilize wrap without causing the problems as indicated previously with their use, this is not an improper use of the Wrap plugin.

Finally, if these templates were made into canon, and all pages on the Wiki that don't abide by them were altered appropriately to abide by these templates, it would only serve to be a step in the direction of unifying the entire wiki. I do not know why people are arguing against this idea. What part of my desires is well... bad? No one has commented on the fact the Wiki isn't uniform. No one has commented on the fact that Wiki templates aren't uniform.

You all just seem to be trying to nitpick at this now.

Thank you Raz for making your suggestion. It does look good!

Personally I think the Chart with the Logo should also be at the top of the page so that it is on of the first things seen, locked in at 300px but otherwise very nice

The infobox is actually 100 percent unnecessary/optional and an artifact of having used WRAP plugin. All of the information is available elsewhere, and any unit patch/symbol picture can be integrated more elegantly into the article, anyway.

Yes, but the fact info-boxes are required on some templates, and not required on other templates is the problem.

The core of this website is Roleplay. The Core of roleplay is players making characters. The Character Sheet has a mandetory info box. All pages should utilie similar info-boxes in similar ways. That is, at it's core, my point. Using the wrap plugin to lock the primary picture of what the article is about, if the article has a picture, to the right instead of the left, is because on the right nothing can go up to fill in the space left behind. On the right, all the text can move up to the top of the page, but the info-box is still right there for people to see.

See my point?

The format works. The format works well. It's been tried and tested to the largest Wiki focused population on the planet. Over 5 million Wiki articles on one site alone uses this format and it works. Several more million articles on several other wiki platforms utilize it similarly as well.

I actually hadn't realized this thread was in "setting submissions" and just thought that it was a "setting discussion" on the topic. Sorry! I guess Wes will see my offering here or I'll talk to him about it later.

See ya!

Well I had a thread in setting discussions, but no one replied to the things I was saying til I put it up in here. I'm more than willing to have people post suggestions in here given this is the thread that has the most activity in the regards.
