OOC [OOC] Sakura Discussion

The 5th ex. gets a gold star for professionalism, not for just their handbook but also for having things like fancy templates for orders. *Hint* *Hint* *(Things like that would be nice over here in the 1st ex)*

As I do not have under my tasks the sorting of orders for the 1st expeditionary fleet, I'm afraid there is nothing that I can do about that for the moment.

I would suggest asking Wes, but Wes seems kinda tied up at the moment. I'd much rather use what presence he can have for the SARP these days for JPing. wouldn't you? ~_^

Well, everything's pretty much been posted.

If you want to know what's going on with your character : Tasuku was ordered by Kotori to tell Yuuko that two Mindy armors and a Kylie had to be prepared. Chisou sort of jumped the gun on that, but that probably means Chisou's going to operate a M2-1F suit instead of the new M2-2A. In any case, Tasuku is expected to help Yuuko out in gearing up the Mindy armors : he's a technical sentry, after all.

Yuuko Sakai = the Sakura's newest arrival, an ace pilot whom tested out new technology for the Mindy armors and probably one of the best people to have around to help outfitting with the new tech, not to mention the best at using it.

For more info at the current happenings, you can check out our new shiny Resource Handbook, which has a section saying what the Sakura's current mission is. This should help keep you up to speed! :D

*sigh* I don't even feel like apologizing for double posting anymore. Besides, those are news updates. I need to make additional posts for them to be marked up as new posts - or no one will notice.

Wes came (on time too! Yay!) and we JPed. Got struck by the evil lag beast, so our progress wasn't all that great, but things are pretty much set up for Kotori, Chisou, Miles and Yuuko - yes, Yuuko - to go in Hoshi no Iori.

Wes retreated into oblivion, but said he'd be back for another JP next Tuesday. He also saved a copy of the JP. I think I have it now in my archives too. I wonder if I should edit it or leave it up to him? XD

Also :

There weren't any Kylie armors around, from what Miles could see. The test pilots were probably all Nekovalkyrja. One of the armors actually had its outer armor removed, revealing a chain-mail bodysuit beneath. A neko with short black hair and bright blue eyes was wearing it, while sorting through a small group of pods that attached to the Mindy's back. One was the standard NSP launcher, but the others were a mystery.

Miles decided to ask about the pods, since there was a neko handy to ask. "Excuse me, ma'am." He was unsure about her rank, so he remained on the safer side of things by addressing her politely. "I have a question if you do not mind."

"Mister?" the girl in the powered suit looked at him, a little surprised by being addressed.

Miles gave a bow. "Sorry to interupt, trust me, I know how it is. But I would like to know about those pods there that you're working with. They're a model I haven't seen before, and they caught my eye. I was wondering if you could give me an explaination about their use and function."

"Well," the neko flashed a smile, "This one is a shield generator, this one is the teleportation unit, and this one is a nodal fabrication unit, for making things. You probably recognize the standard NSP launcher."

Miles gave a nod. "Yes, I'm familar with the NSP launcher unit. I'd also like to ask, are these new units compatible with the Kylie and Phalanx armors?"

"They should work with the Kylie, I believe. The PHALANX is not allowed to be modified, however."

Miles nodded. "Thank goodness I'm not a PHALANX pilot, I'd be out of luck then." Miles smiled to the neko as he made his small comment. "Are there any other goodies around here that are compatible with the Kylie armor? I'm rather interested in what kind of equipment I may be have to use in an upcoming conflict."

"There are leg pods, too," the neko girl told Miles.

Miles smiled in interest. "Will these new leg pods be a replacement for the current missle pods? Or will they offer other functions than being missile launchers?"

"Other functions," said the pilot.

Miles' eyebrows raised at the somewhat swift response. "Oh well, I won't pry into the issue if it is too early in development. I just hope that the new functions will give the Kylie a new edge in performance." Miles turned around and looked at the workshop, and realized he still couldn't spot a single Kylie. "Does this station have any Kylie suits that are being worked with? I'm only seeing a bunch of Mindy armors here." Miles coulden't help but to scratch his head.

"I'm sure they're around somewhere," the Mindy-clad neko laughed. "In this project, we've used just the Mindy, since most pilots are Nekovalkyrja, and the Kylie is a Mindy spin-off."

Miles gave an understanding nod. "Oh... I've always wondered about people's thoughts on this subject, what do you think about the two armors in comparison to eachother?" Miles gave a sly smile. "I've always wanted to hear an expert's opinion on the matter."

"The Kylie is a pocketknife. The Mindy is a very big, sharp katana. Both are effective, when used in the correct situation."

Miles couldn't help but to give a chuckle at the analogy. "That's a summary of the two that I have not heard before." Miles reflected on the thought though, and came to the conclusion that he wished he were a neko at times.

Should clear up that the modules were mentioned to be able to function with the Kylie. Also...

Kylie's description said:
Ketsurui Fleet Yards W2708 Shoulder-Fired 50mm Railgun (1): This weapon (also known as the WickedArms WA-09) is approximately 4 feet long and is attached to the shoulder by means of a small, movable arm. It can pivot up, down, and side-to-side as well as 45 degrees back, allowing it to fire hands-free at any target to the front or above from a standing position, or to be used as a shoulder-fired sniper weapons from a prone position. Uses WickedArms AM-09-18 and AM-09-78 series ammunition or AP-8 mortar rounds available here.
  • Primary Purpose: Anti-Armor
    Secondary Purpose: Sniping
    Damage: Heavy
    Range: 15,000 m (9.3 miles)
Rate of Fire: 3 rounds a second.
Payload: 18 rounds in a helical magazine. Optional backpack extension increases capacity to 78 rounds.

...the Kylie does have a section to attach the something in it's back, even though it has weaponry mounted on the shoulders. That place ought to do if a Kylie was to be outfitted with either the new barrier or teleportation systems.

Also, to answer something Wes mentioned earlier : the Kylie does have Nodal Support Bits. Only two of them, though, and mounted over one shoulder. The middle of the back is pretty free.

And, to finish up : Scribbles, Tasuku survived. I NPCed him and he outfitted the team. He can have a cookie now.

Not many like getting old Tiffany. Whining about it at your age is a bit premature though. Wait for when you're about to turn 30 and enjoy yourself and your supposed immortality until then ~_^

Posted the last JP, which I managed. Wes plot-advancing JP days are supposed to be Friday and Saturday - though no news from Wes yet in that regard. Also, ImperfectDark, Bonichi's player, can be present on JPs if they don't happen Monday or Friday. We should extend him an invite in the future even if he seems idle, away or busy on YIM.

For Saturday, April 15, 20:30 PM

Well, since Wes is around, there should be a JP this evening... so, try to be there! ^_^

Additionally, Scribbles and Kristin, we haven't heard of you in quite some time. You aren't online when JPs come up and you aren't giving us any sort of feedback on the board regarding your availabilities (I really don't mind you missing out if you have more important things to attend to, but communication is important and you should inform us). Even single posts can go a long way in making a show that you're still around and interested.

It's been some time since the both of you bothered to show up, so, to maintain suspension of disbelief, I'm giving myself free reign on NPCing your characters until the end of Mission 5 whenever you're absent. By the end of Mission 5, if you still haven't significantly improved your attendance, we'll have to take more severe measures.

I still have schedules missing from some players too (namely the two I mentioned above). Please correct this : I'd like to know when you're available and when you aren't to better organise our JPing schedule.

Thanks to everyone who responded; I'm going to work hard to follow your suggestions. To those who didn't respond to the survey: Why the hell not?

I'll leave the survey up for a day or two more, and then move it (to the GM forum or something).

Tiffany-

Okay, i hope you'll enjoy yourself. Seeing that everyone on the Sakura is a mess, I suppose we can excuse having Jo go through a longer convalescence... so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Thanks for telling us.

David-

Whoa, easy there. I think the 'take your time' part refered more to 'take your time in completing it and be honest' rather than 'take your time replying to it'. It's been three days so far and given Jake's input from the 5th fleet, Wes had good reason to assume you were around.

Besides, when you take the time to set up a survey, I guess it's expected to be kinda eager for replies. *shrugs* don't take it badly.

Edit : David, have you been having problems with YIM lately? Wes sent you invites to JPs and you don't seem to have accepted them. Wes was starting to think you didn't want to participate anymore.

*Shrugs*
Filling in surveys is something that I don't particularly like doing (no matter what they're for), and I've had other stuff IRL that have taken precedence. On a side note, because of the times it was posted and my timezone it was only 2 days for me.

As for YIM, before today I have certainly not been aware of any problems, and I definately would not reject a JP invite. This morning I did have a problem and I could not log into YIM for a good 40 mins or more for some unknown reason (everything else was working....).

Because she was escorting Hanako in a ship that was suddenly sent into flames. Like, boom. Wes didn't give us any prior warning to that and it was sort of very sudden, also involving the potential deaths of both Rufus and Hanako.

Well, instead of having Hanako die, Chisou intercede rather timely manner and saved her. It wasn't done with a katana, but it's nonetheless a rather heroic end for the character of a player whom wasn't showing consistantly JP, do single posts to compensate and that didn't give any notice of his absences either.

Besides, all things considered, Chisou might be the lucky one. She got to have the heroic death. The rest of the Sakura's crew are pretty much devoid of leadership (and a Rufus with a 1-week memory blank isn't exactly the best CO you could get) and are recuperating from having been 'ass raped' along with being pursued by the Star Army for being branded traitors for some reason.

I'm sorry that I didn't tell you people about me moving, but our internet service was terminated before I could. Just to put times up, to prevent people from thinking I'm blowing smoke, We lost our internet access in friday, and just got it back today.

Though I am thankful you gave Chisou a heroic death.

Hey folks, you should really look at this.

The URL outlines the uses the MEGAMI onboard the Sakura can have when controlled by a character. Read it, love it and use it. It'll save Wes the trouble of having to make certain interactions with the players when the players could have done them by themselves. It's obviously not foolproof and there are going to be instances in which it'll have to be clarified - but those instance are going to be used to add to the MEGAMI OOC list of functions in regard of player uses.

I'm going to slap the fingers of people not refering to this, so, watch out *evil grin*.

We are now on the 3rd part of the Sakura's 5th mission. It will cover this weekend and the two weekends after that, at which point the Sakura plot will be closed for a couple weeks while I go to Army training. Fred's new plot will be replacing the Sakura at that point. Thanks to all of the Sakura crew for being the best plot ship player group I could ask for! )

Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit.

I just got the agenda for the city council. It looks like there's a lot of fee hikes they're considering; I'm gonna need to go and cover them. It's at 7 p.m. ... Fred, you wanna NPC Kosuka for me? I'm open to other ideas.

EDIT: My editor said not to worry! Woooooooo ... but now I have to do all the work early. Boooooooo.

ANOTHER EDIT: Fixed da yo. Thanks Fred.

BACK TO WORK.

Full edit posted for the last JP (Thanks for the help Thomas!).

Wes, I noted a place in the last JP edit where there's a big part missing. There's an obvious skip there, as we lose a part of the Miles/Jo conversation and Kotori's moody arrival in the wardroom. Someone try and fix it? (No access to YIM for me today)

I found the missing section in my archives and edited it. It is in there now.
