YSS Yukikaze Power Bay

"Yes sir!" Hiroki said to Mikael before he departed to get repairs done on his armor.

Along the way there was an unexpected feeling that something was not right within him. His blood burned hot for battle against the Kuvexians and those that dared to bring death and destruction, but there was a simmer in one spot. Those Kuvexian worlds that were just destroyed were loaded with enemies who wanted to see Yamatai either enslaved or dead sure, but what about the children? Did they deserve to have their lives snuffed out despite being so young? His mind repeated itself telling him not to dwell on such matters for the time being. There was a war to win.

He found a technician and told him, "My thrusters are malfunctioning. They were flickering on and off."

It was swift and efficient work, and Hiroki's thrusters were back to green. He told the technician, "You have my thanks."

The technician produced a hearty grin as Hiroki departed. When it was time to get back into the action, Hiroki swapped his PAAR-40 for a Coherent Aether Rifle like Mikael. He joined his team outside the bay and his HUD picked up three torpedoes from Kuvexian starfighters that were poised to strike the side of the Yukikaze. With pinpoint accuracy, Hiroki made them detonate early by slicing into them with his CAR. He glanced up in time to dodge an aether blade from a Kuvexian in Navy Power Armor. Hiroki shook his head in disappointment at the Kuvexian, the thoughts of those planet destroyers used against the enemy lingering in the back of his mind and said, "You never should have come to Yamatai."

Hiroki and his Kuvexian counterpart took turns exchanging gunfire, with Hiroki exercising caution in not getting into the line of fire of the Yukikaze's weapons. The brief firefight ended with Hiroki slicing off the Kuvexian's right leg with his CAR. The Kuvexian floated motionlessly in space, and beyond its corpse Hiroki could see a Kuvexian Troop Transport approaching the Yukikaze. He realized that those brave fools were going to board the ship, and he needed to stop it. Hiroki put his thrusters on full power and launched himself toward the transport.

The transport's weaponry was minimal, but no less dangerous. It fired beams of aetherial energy at Hiroki, who evaded them as he closed in. When he was at the vessel's side, he used his CAR to carve out and destroy both engines of the transport. Due to the lack of gravity in space, the transport kept moving toward Hiroki's home ship. The vessel had to be stopped, or the consequences could be catastrophic.

Hiroki zipped around to the bridge where the crew had shocked and surprised expressions that turned to fear and panic as the beam from his weapon tore through the window and extended to the back of the command room. Most of the Kuvexians piloting the ship were sucked out into the unforgiving vacuum of space where they suffocated and died. The luckier ones held onto bolted down chairs and tables as they waited for the blast doors to close. Fortune would not favor them for long however as Hiroki entered through the destroyed window just seconds before metallic shutters sealed off the vacuum of space. A quick-thinking Kuvexian smashed a button, causing an alarm to blare before he was eliminated by Hiroki's forearm blasters.

The other surviving Kuvexians on the bridge fired pistols at Hiroki, but they too would perish at the hands of the skilled Giretsu. Now that the bridge was clear, Hiroki raced to what he believed to be the pilot's chair. The controls were untouched by the beam as he had hoped, but it was a tad difficult to figure out. For a moment he regretted killing the entire bridge crew, but there was little time to figure out another solution. He examined the piloting controls for a second before he decided to hope for the best and pressed a lower section on the console.

He felt a brief rock and then the vessel descend at a slight downward angle. A hiss was heard behind him followed by the door open revealing several armored Kuvexians, no doubt the boarding party. The lead trooper pointed at Hiroki and screamed something before they all opened fire. Hiroki activated his Mindy's CFS and smashed the piloting controls. A split second later he cut open the emergency shutters and he used the momentum to get sucked out into the vacuum of space along with the other enemy soldiers who were quickly finished off by another CAR beam.

Hiroki watched the troop transport fly downward into the uncaring abyss for a moment before he turned his attention back to the battle at large. There were still enemies that would threaten the Yukikaze.

YSS "Presurgence"
With the acknowledgement from the others that it was time to leave, Kozakura wasted little time in ditching the depot. Back aboard the Presurgence before it made its jump through the portal, she quickly made her way down to a communications terminal. A specialized cable was pulled out from her left arm and then connected to the terminal as she began the process of uploading her initial footage and voice over. In addition to that she uploaded some extra footage of the Rikugan forces occupying the Sakura Fleet Depot while she was on the way out. Once it was finished uploading from Maru to the terminal she selected her superior at SANDRA as the recipient before hitting send. Once it was received they would probably rapidly edit the footage, and hand it off to someone to make a broadcast out of it. As much as Kozakura wanted to do the broadcast herself there wasn't any time.

With that part of her job complete she started heading back to the power armor bay to get her armor repaired, or at least patched up where she'd taken those two hits. That was when the ship was rocked by an explosion and alarms blared out across all decks. Crap... maybe I should have stayed on the rock, she thought to herself as she regained her footing and hustled on towards the power armor bay.

Upon arriving she witnessed the destruction and the squad of Kuvies that had invaded the bay. Her HUD identified the friendlies among the ongoing melee, notifying her that Sanda was among them. Damnit aren't you supposed to be getting patched up? Kozakura kept that thought to herself though as she didn't want to distract the woman at a potentially pivotal moment. Racing into the thick of things herself she drew her two aetherblade katanas and steeled herself for the fight to come.

As she watched the Presurgence's signal draw ever closer on her radar, the scene in front of her became steadily worse. The fighters were a dense amorphous cloud around the ship she had only briefly now called home, deep within which she could see the blasts of anti-aircraft guns trying in vain to repel the throng of golden Kuvexian ships. Deeper still, she caught a glimpse of one of the Presurgence engines flickering mercurially. She's been hit, Kwabba-an thought to herself as a ringing in her ears began to drown out the music from her visual to audio circuitry and her vision narrowed. Unbeknownst to her, it would be her last coherent thought for some time. The parts of her brain in which such thoughts normally formed decided unanimously to take the night off and leave her baser instincts in charge. Kwabba-an ceased to consider and predict, and began to simply act. She disappeared.

Reappearing ahead of an enemy fighter, she dug her aether blade in as she had so many times before. This time, however, she switched the blade off and had her Combined Field System induce a gravitational pull against the fighter. In doing this, she was suddenly stuck to the side of a fighter with a deep gash along its hull, but otherwise flying along relatively well. Thankful for her Mindy's protection from inertia, she pressed her feet against the ship, stood up, unembedded her blade, and ran to the purple dome she presumed was the cockpit. Relighting her blade, she dragged it along one side of the dome, then with hitherto untouched depths of fury and her inhuman strength she swung her Zesuaium bass guitar underhanded to smash it against the side of the dome. The purple substance separated cleanly along the cut she had made and cracked along the other side, knocking the dome clear. In the cockpit beneath she perceived a cowering creature in a pressurized flight suit, which she quickly grabbed and tore from its comfortable seat and flung at another passing fighter.

Within she found a complicated bevy of controls and instruments, most of which were flashing critical warnings at her. If she had still possessed any semblance of rational thought, she might have been able to figure out what controls corresponded to which actions the fighter could take. Instead, she jammed her aether blade into the center of the dash and twisted it until the fighter vectored towards the edge of the cloud surrounding the Presurgence. The fighter closed the distance almost too swiftly for her to pick a target.

An AA blast lit up nearby, and soon other Kuvexian fighters were firing at her, but her target remained woefully ignorant of her intentions until it was too late to swerve away, but not too late for her to engage her Turbo Aether Plasma engine and fly to safety as the fighters collided spectacularly beneath her. The moment was lost on Kwabba-an, though, who simply reached out and tore into the body of her next quarry. It would be some time still before she realized she was screaming a war cry in harmony with the screech in her ears.

Mikael watched the sheer destruction of the Kuvexian worlds at the hands of the Essai. What would it take for the Essai to suddenly think the Yamataians were annoying and decided to crack their worlds in the same way? He prayed to non-existent Gods that that day will never occur.

With the use of his nodal drones, Mikael returned to the present as he shot down missile fire destined for himself, his troops, and the Yukikaze. But the camera from one of his 24 nodal drones watched the quick thinking of Hiroki. Mikael thought he saw something in that brash young man, hence was particularly harsh in his training with those like him. But the pace of the battle did not allow Mikael to think much about rewards and he simply logged it and the other actions of his troops into the logs.

Whoever in Star Army Command thought to break up his Century into SOFT-like units was a tactical genius. Being forced to rely on their brains instead of just numbers a century would bring was increasing their efficiency. It seemed to also be tempering their rage against the Kuvexians unlike those Giretsu of the 2nd Legion. Though he didn't blame them after the loss they were given in the past.

The nodal drones also gave him an additional advantage, 360-degree vision that he was slowly getting use of. Coming at him at high speed was a fighter attempting to kamikaze him or rather the Yukikaze behind him. With its engines clearly damaged, Mikael could have finished the job with his CAR.

But instead, he cored into a Kuvexian NPA attempting to sneak up on a trooper of his and he used the scalable graviton projectors on his back and free to redirect the would be Kamikaze bomber and direct it right into the path of another fighter making a bombing run on the YSS Kamikaze. But Mikael's efforts were not done soon enough.

The anti-shield torpedo was able to be launched and slammed into the YSS Kamikaze.

"Damn it! SOFT 7501 and 7507 (Hiroki's team), provide Point Defense for the YSS Kamikaze! If it goes down, find and notify the Yukikaze to recover its soul savior pod. I will be damned if these bastards take more from us!" he said as he got a nice trick-shot nailing three Kuvexians in a single shot.

"Damn this war!!"

Somewhere not Glimmergold

The destruction of the banking worlds and the scores upon scores of dead Kuvexians that didn't pay their dues to be brought back to life was doing numbers on the economy. Barons and Baronesses were being to gather their personal armies to do battle to take anything of value. Stocks were crashing as people were banking out and trying to cover their loses in Glimmergold. But for one Kuvexian, the only thing he was seeing from the live video feed of the battle was money signs.

And who would this charming Kuvexian be? Who else but "honest" Vren Noon and his trusty Ehlen lawyers Wen Stooks Moon and Stooks Gou Hai.

Aaron leaned back in his chair to stretch out his arms and extend his spine. He just finished his latest submission for an assignment handed to him five days prior. He loved the burst of serotonin received from a job well done, even though the task itself was a small one. Picking up stray, unclaimed leads and seeing them through was fun for the Santô Hei, and he'd never tire of it. Exploring all the trails the leads took him through revealed how little he knew about everything, and in turn fueled his willingness to learn. Despite this being called a vicious cycle, Aaron Boxley never saw it that way.
Bright, green eyes stared down his computer screen with satisfaction, a smile seated on his face. But as he took the respite to lean back and relax, urges of a human body previously ignored clamored loudly for his attention. The most important one caused him to sit up in his chair and open resting eyes. Glancing down his uniform, he adjusted anything out of place before standing up and departing from his desk. A gaze for approval was sent to his superior, who waved off their permission after a silent exchange of poor man's sign language. Boxley waved his thank you before turning and slipping through the door, careful not to disturb his fellow journalists.
The walk to the bathroom was fast and straightforward, but the walk back became filled with distractions. Once the primal urge was satiated, it was easy to see what was missed and overlooked, and for the Journalist that could've been a number of things. The most prevalent one was a Yontô Hei technician sitting at the edge of a grand hallway, grumbling as she took to a malfunctioning cleaning bot. It caused Aaron to stop and stare with concern, mostly because of how heavily her eyebrows furrowed over the edge of her goggles. It seemed an opportune time for him to pause, as she ripped them from her eyes in frustration and snapped them back to her forehead. She sat there for a moment until her red-circled eyes glimpsed at the former technician.

"Bux-san" she began, a sigh slipping through her defeated gaze, "I need another pair of eyes on this. Can you spare yours?"

"Oh, sure thing!" His eagerness to help made him forget why he was walking around anyway. Trotting over to his co-worker, he bent down and braced himself with a hand on top of the cleaning bot. She explained the problem to him and what she was trying to fix, Aaron answering with questions of his own. Before long she was able to push through her roadblock and re-wire the robot, relieved to see it working properly once she screwed on the outer plate and powered it on. A high five echoed down the corridor as their hands connected in triumph!

"I like you way more than that rubber duck our instructor gave us," she said.

"Why's that?"

"Because unlike the rubber duck, you talk back. I just can't throw you when I get mad." A genuine laugh sounded from the Journalist. He covered his mouth with a hand before resting it on his coworker's shoulder.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that!" Before she could reply a heavy set of footsteps echoed down a conjoining hallway, a Jôtô Hei appearing at the corridor entrance. Both lower ranks stood at attention as the ebony-skinned superior approached, saluting as she slowed to a rushing walk.

"Hei-Boxley," she said. Aaron remained silent as she addressed him. He lowered his poised arm when she nodded, the Yantô Hei following suit. "You need to come with me now."

"Is something wrong, Jôtô-Hei?"

"Not yet, but we could still use you. I've already mentioned you to my superiors and they're short on time. Come with me." The urgency in her voice made Aaron tense up, and with a glancing goodbye to his fellow officer he followed after the dark-skinned Minkan. As she lead him back towards the production side of Kyoto's headquarters, she filled him in on the details.

"Our usual reporter for our news schedule leave early today. His wife was admitted to the hospital around noon, so we need someone to cover until his return. I suggested you; they were desperate."
The whirlwind explanation both surprised and concerned him. An empty, wide eyed stare followed his superior as he kept up with her brisk pace. He was more baffled that they would choose someone like him to take on a large task, but that didn't immediately preoccupy him.

"Goodness, is she ok?"

"Focus, baby. We're including the live footage we just received from Hei-Tatsugami." Aaron suddenly remembered that Kozakura was assigned to the on-site coverage. Her well-being briefly crossed his mind, but with the request to stay focused he reduced his copious questions to one important inquiry.

"When does the broadcast go live?"

The Jôtô-Hei sent an approving glance his way, a previously stoic demeanor softening into a smile. She knew the ulterior tone behind his question. "Three hours time. I knew I could count on you."

KE-V7 "Ginga" Bomber
Joint Dragon Bomber Wing

The battle was on their side, the Star Army was cutting through the KIN defenses and they were winning well "ground" on their battlefield. The fighters and bombers were in return giving up a lot of their defenses to create a window of opportunity for their fellow Yamatai ships. Barely making it out of the Nebula, a few bombers had joined into one wing named the Joint Dragon Bomber Wing or JDBW as remnants of their own destroyed wings and squads. Fighters surrounded them to give protection as best as possible as the bombers made their way to their designated target. But when they arrived at the other side of the nebula that torn them almost apart they saw the ugly face of war once again.

"We can't go through this madness....."

"They will shoot us as insects when we try to get closer..."

"Red Dragon, what do we do...."

The sparks flew from the sides of the wings, the hull was crippled as the flickering of a somewhat leftover shield was barely holding on. But the dragon painted on its whole gets shown from the light that came through as the Ginga flew in the front of the bombers "We might die, you will die, I will die....but today is not that day. We push forward and complete our duty to protect Yamatai and retake this sector. Bombers load your weapons, Fighters protect us from their incoming fire! We stand our ground, we give them the bittersweet taste of what happens when they cross our paths" A voice came over the communication grid.

The fighters jumped forward to take on the incoming enemy as everyone cheered on the battle speech of Red Dragon. In the cockpit of the Red Dragon Miyu had her helmet off as blood was dripping down the side of her face. She was focused and eager to get this mission to completion. Looking over her soldier she saw that her ship had suffered quite the injuries and damage "Hold on a bit longer, we are almost there" She spoke as she pushed the power-up and gave a boost to the ship to push forward.

"This is Red Dragon of JDBW to YSS Tokyo, we are locking on target. ETA 1 minute till payload is delivered" Miyu spoke finally as the wing entered the battlefield once more to survive and be victorious.

Hope you don't mind that I tag along @Andrew ;)

The lead machine planet was covered in holes, craters, and burning scars as it transited space, burning and dying under the Kuvexian defenders' assault yet accelerating towards the Kuvexian treasury planet where it collided in a tremendous bump that cracked the crust of the planet and left magma spewing into space in a spray as the remains of the machine world sunk into the planet's core, never to be seen again. An orange glob exploded out of the planet's other side, pushed out of its way.

"Four of Seven," Yui noted, watching the chaos from the bridge of the YSS Battle of Yamatai. Even her ship was being jostled and surrounded but it was so huge that it was able to soak up damage quite handily. "Give me an estimate on the time it will take the remaining Essai worlds to fire again."

"Two minutes, Taisho," a Nekovalkyrja science officer replied. "I concur," an engineer added.

"Taisho, Kuvexian Navy forces have been reduced by roughly 25% by our ships, torpedoes, and planetary materials impacts," a bridge officer announced.

"Star Army ships losses at 18%"

The First Fleet and other Star Army forces desperately tried to hold on. While the Kuvexian ships were mainly firing on the machine planets, the millions of fighters and power armored troops outnumbered the Star Army by a factor of 2 or 3 and were dogpiling and swarming them and their Nepleslian, Neshaten, and other allies, launching anti-ship torpedoes and heavy aether missiles.

YSS "Presurgence"

The Kyoto-class carrier violently shook as more missiles exploded into its old Zesuiaum-armored hull, leaving trails of smoke and leaking air. A dozen golden power armors flew into the armor bay and started shooting at Sanda Hoshi in rushed a "spray and pray" when they saw her hitting their comrades with a bright and attention-grabbing aether blade.

Meanwhile junior technician Pidole Henitot called Jax from a smoke-filled room in engineering, "Chief! The number one engine just melted and blew up! We got a coolant leak and it's bad! And the power system for the shields is on fire, we're not going to be able to get our shields back online or use CFS." Her blue beetle flew up and handed her a tool and she went back to her repair efforts. "I'll fix the coolant by isolating the damaged portions of the system."

YSS "Presurgence"

The Kuvexian power suit was lining up a final shot on a downed Mindy pilot when a Spear was suddenly jammed into its back. The enemy suit tried to turn around and defend itself but it received a blow to the head that knocked it to the ground. Before it had a chance to rise again a Daisy suit stomped down on its midsection, spun a spear in one hand, then drove it down through the golden armor's chest. The Kuvexian spasmed for a moment then lay still. The Daisy standing atop it pulled out the spear and spun it around again in her hand. Sanda looked around at the other golden plated power armors and said through her helmet's speakers, "Ok, who's next?"

Sanda raised her left arm up and fired her Plasma rife. The shot missed as the enemy armor had moved to avoid her fire and returned some of its own. Sanda's raised her physical shield reflexively, though most of the shots were absorbed by her own power suits shielding. The action caused her sight to be temporarily blocked by her own shield which the Kuvexian took full advantage of. Sanda almost saw too late the swing of an anther blade at her head and was just able to raise her spear to block. Then came a string of visions attacks that forced her on the defense. The Nepleslian was starting to regret the choice of the spear. It needed to much room to swing and wasn't much use close up. At the next successful parry, Sanda dropped the spear and rolled away to the right, drawing her short sword as she did so. She was just able to block the next attack with the aether blade but her parry and counter attack actually scored a hit, light though it was.

The golden Kuvexian suit was more cautions now seeing that the tactics had changed. It circled Sanda wearily, looking for an opening. Sanda was doing the same, standing her ground and looking for an opening she could exploit. She suddenly raised her left arm and fire, following it up with a swing to the head. The trick seemed to work. The first shot distracted Sanda's opponent giving her an opening to close the distance between them to strike. But she her opponent was quick on the recovery. It blocked her attack then spun inside her defenses and delivered an elbow to Sanda's head. This was followed up with a round house kick to the Daisy's head which dropped the green power armor to the ground.

Sanda suddenly regained consciousness. She wasn't sure how long she had been out, just a few seconds most likely but it felt like an eternity. She tasted blood in her mouth and wanted to spit it out but couldn't with her helmet on. She managed to get up on one knee and looked around, her vision swimming. She was just in time to see her attacker raise it's blade to finish her off and rolled away from it. Her vision just wouldn't clear so she quickly popped the seal of her helmet, briefly praying that the hanger bay still held atmosphere. As her helmet came off, Sanda's nose was assaulted with the smell of smoke and melted plastic and metal. There was also a hint of burnt flesh. Spitting out a mouthful of blood Sanda managed to get to her feet. Miraculously, she had held onto her short sword and was able to block the next attack as it came in. The Kuvexian wasn't going to give her any chance to recover. Sanda spun her blade around in a different grip, held reverse it went along her forearm and stuck out several inches past her elbow. This was a favored style of hers when using her Straight Silver and would hopefully serve her well now. As her attacker came in Sanda parried the countered with and elbow blow, similar to the one that had just laid her out. However, her elbow had a blade against it and it jammed into the Kuvexian helmet.

Sanda kicked the dead armor away from her and rocked unsteadily on her feet. Her hair was a mess, the pony-tale she had tied so tight what seemed like weeks ago had come partially undone and hug every which way. Blood was tricked down her cheek from a cut on her temple and she had to spit again as blood filled her mouth from a split lip. The firelight in the hanger bay seemed to reflect off her lightning bolt tattoo making her look more like a maniac than a professional soldier. She raised her rifle and tried to see through the smoke, looking for her next target. Suddenly a dozen more suits of armor came flying in out of nowhere and starting shooting at everything that moved. Sanda drove into some cover and began to return fire. "Feth these things are really starting to piss me off."

YSS "Presurgence"
Engineering

"Get after it! When you're done continue montoring!" Jax ordered Pidole, his knuckles tightening on his console as he resisted the urge to punch a wall. That would have been both unhelpful and unprofessional in the presence of his subordinate.

"Bridge, Engineering. Engine one lost despite best efforts. Going to start working on fixing the CFS." He shot off to Kagura. At his console, he began typing away and cursing under his breath about "this ancient piece of shit" he was fighting to keep spaceworthy. He realized his error in retrospect. He had assumed that the power fluctuations were an issue on the part of the power supply itself, based also on Kagura's suggestion to reroute power. The engine outlet had sprung a leak that had only grown as he'd foolishly increased output. Sloppy, Jax! Sloppy! Your first command and you nearly killed your junior tech and actually killed a main engine!

He took a moment to scan the current shipwide damage control status. Several of his minions were trying to balance firefighting with firefighting against Kuxexians. It was a total, undeniable Fucking Disaster.

Just like old times.

The lion man took a deep breath and centered himself. He shut off the flow of energy to both the defunct engine one, as well as the main power supply to the CFS. Didn't want to risk frying a Santo Hei who got too close.

This, of course, was followed by him activating one of the eight backup aether generators in the bay, which he knew were directly connected to the CFS and other important systems as a redundancy.

Jax wasn't religious, but he did have a strange theory that there was some greater force controlling the events of the universe, and to some extent, his very actions and those of the people around him. Keeping that in mind, he looked upwards to the "sky", directly at that unknowable force and whispered:

"For the love of Yui, give me a hand here, man!"

Then, he channeled the energy directly into the CFS, circumventing the main power supply and setting the generator's output to levels appropriate for the system.

"Bridge, Engineering. CFS should be coming back online. We're on auxillary power until we can reconnect the unit to the main reactor."

With that, Jax grabbed a fire extinguisher and flew to Pidole's station. While the green little technician furiously worked to patch uo the coolant leak, Jax used his fire extinguisher to douse the fire consuming the shield/CFS power supply. He winced at what he saw.

"Disregard last, Pidole. When you have the coolant under control, grab an arc cutter and help me cut away these burned-out conduits. We'll have to attempt a field repair. It's always best to leave the auxillary generators for actual emergencies."

In the meantime, Jax prayed silently that something would get those enemy vessels gone so they'd stop putting holes in the ship!

One of the Planets
Radium left scores of destruction in her wake, making a horrific bloody mess of any Kuvexian nearby. Her violence was far more gruesome than anything the Kuvexians were dishing out, next to no Kuvexians were left in one piece and parts of them were strewn about her general vicinity. She laughed as she slaughtered them one by one, her armor was getting so bloodstained she practically would've resembled Strontium in her paint scheme again if Kuvexian blood were red. Antoinette was interrupted by the first planet destroyer charging, she could hear its buzz ringing through her head. "What is that NOISE?" she asked herself aloud. A Kuvexian attempted to hit her while she was distracted, but her armor's hand formed into a chainsaw and instantly bisected it diagonally without even trying, spraying chunks of flesh everywhere and causing its innards to spill out as its upper half fell backwards. Annie looked to the sky and zoomed in with her optical sensors to see planets being completely obliterated. Oh dear. They were going to kill all the Kuvexians before she could. That wasn't good. Antoinette picked up the pace and started stealing weapons from fallen Kuvvies, integrating them into her armor, while resuming her wave of carnage at an accelerated rate.

NDC Fleet
One Chlorate utilized the turrets of one of the Conclave's ships, oblivious as to how close her oldest enemy was, or how much said enemy was enjoying herself with the amount of chaos she was causing. For now, the robotic princess gunned down Kuvexian ships quite easily, not even giving them a chance to get near. Against her computer brain guiding the armament, attacking the ship was certainly not a fair game for the Kuvvies.

YSS Kaiyō II
Bridge

"Affirmative, Chusa Hoshi," the weapons operator replied. She started opening fire on enemy fighters with the positron cannons and aether weapons, just as Hoshi has specified. Impressively, she was able to target multiple different fighters at once, and much like her other self the enemy Kuvexians stood little chance against her. The machine girl just did not permit most of them to get near, though there were likely more attacking fighters for the Star Army's Chlorate to fend off than the NDC's one. Still, the Kuvexian fighters would certainly need the numbers advantage in order to get past her.

Power Armor Bay
Kikios had her Mindy equipped with the Kalamari manipulator arm system, a missile pod and aetheric pulse cannon on her shoulders, and countermeasure and offensive augmentation pods on her legs as well as her trusty saber-rifle in hand. This was a new loadout for her, she had the longer ranges of space combat in mind, and the lack of atmosphere gave her an excuse to try the aetheric pulse cannon. With no time to lose, the armored birb launched after Eden, feeling the sense of urgency. She had only eight minutes out here, she needed to make them count, so she immediately started firing at enemies with her rifle's aether pulse mode and her aetheric pulse cannon. She didn't waste her time on the fighters, seeing how easily they were being destroyed by Chlorate at the moment, but the yellow-haired Elysian tried to mow down every other small target as fast as she could.

YSS Tokyo
First Expeditionary Fleet
Tokyo Expeditionary Battlegroup and Taihō Expeditionary Strike Group

Himawari was grateful for Yaichiro's input, after all, technology and engineering was the Taisa's specialization. "Hai Taisa," she acknowledged his suggestions as orders. It was a strange dynamic, the relation of rank and avatar sometimes, especially when the avatar represented something as large as an Izanagi. The YSS Tokyo's shipyards were brought out of their normal battle condition and into a mode where they could be put into action. Priorities were given to fabrication and routing produced parts to Hangar One while Himawari took the idea a step further and started the fabrication centers on larger tasks dedicated to quick repairs. The ship was designed to take a beating but there was nothing wrong with triage on the go even as it felt like the YSS Tokyo was pitted nose-first into the dimensional pool of aether itself as blasts sent vibrations like shivers down its massive length.

There was not a single weapons system that had not fired, or been in continual use since the battle began, when Scrapyard was referred to as the warm-up by Katsuko it was by far understated when it came to the intensity which surged around the ship now. The main cannon was recharging again, as that Katsuko had no intention of enabling this cloud of death that seemed to plume before the Star Army formations. Verticle launch tubes spewed their volleys towards the KIN ships. The state of the Machine Worlds, the lead one especially was concerning. The slow nature of vocalized orders left the Taisho as more innate measures using SPINE and the advantages of KAMI assisted actions weighed in, more of their escorts moved off to provide cover for the Essai Machine worlds that seemed capable of firing again.

Cadets grew up quick in situations that blazed below decks, decompression and fire signified continued damage and took lives and forced others to make decisions that meant life or death for themselves or others, either way, there was pride in everything they had done and acceptance of their place was well met when they have pulled away from training and Fort Tokyo just to man the ship. There was a breath of relief on the bridge when the voice of Miyu (@RaWolfe ) came over the open communications channel, "Good to hear you're still with us Red Dragon. Bring your birds home to rearm when your done run. Best wishes! Let the wind push you!" Himawari sent good words across the encrypted channel, as she was certain the Flag Officers had been consumed in the task at hand.

"It worked!" Himawari said excitedly, the rerouting thorough the hyperspace drive's cooling system had accomplished just what Yaichiro had claimed it would. The massive ship's turrets fired at full force again as if it had gotten that second wind. The Taihō Expeditionary Strike Group suffered a devastating loss, the YSS Houshou's hull broke up as it bled hot plasma from it's broken form all before it exploded.

"Keep it up! We keep pushing back!" Katsuko shouted, unwilling to relent their position or advance on the KIN.

SMG... blades.... seventeen. Grenade... missiles... eighteen. Missiles... aether beam... nineteen. Matsuvo had long since consciously choosing his course of action, the motions of combat having been relegated to muscle memory and the correct tactical choice for each enemy coming automatically, courtesy of years of combat experience and a digital brain with perfect recall.

Mere moments later, Matsuvo began to turn back towards the Presurgence, having noticed its plight, and having been alerted to the boarders by one soldier or another reporting it on the ship's tactical network. He began to push the limits of his PA's thrust, vectoring to put himself in a position to begin to intercept the oncoming missiles. He knew that killing Kuvexians paled in import compared to safeguarding his home ship.

Six calamari limbs deployed, and Matsuvo began to pick off incoming torpedoes and missiles, designating targets at the speed of thought and flying through the clouds of incoming projectiles, leaving a wake of explosions behind him as he did his best to stem the tide of oncoming destruction and buy time for the stricken ship to enact some measure of repairs.

YSS Yukikaze

No response came from Hiroki regarding Mikael's order, but he heard it loud and clear. A slew of missiles from a passing Kuvexian starfighter were poised to crash into the Yukikaze. Quick thinking saw the hostile projectiles eliminated as Hiroki used his CAR to slice them apart before they could get any closer to the ship. He caught sight of another enemy starfighter that was going for a strafing run along the top of the Yukikaze. Hiroki took aim at the nimble vessel with his gauss cannon and fired. The blast tore into the starfighter and blew it into pieces.

Hiroki used his thrusters to lift himself over a severed piece of wing from the destroyed starfighter that would have crashed into him otherwise. His HUD then alerted him to two Kuvexian NPAs that were zeroing in on him. All three were about to engage in combat when a scene straight out of an action movie that had its budget blown on special effects happened. They watched the next Kuvexian planet crack and leak magma into space courtesy of the powerful weapons of the machine planets. The two NPAs turned back to Hiroki, their gestures evident that they desired vengeance for those that perished on the planet, possibly loved ones.

They launched themselves at Hiroki with great ferocity, their aether blades extended and ready to gut him. Hiroki hopped backward out of their attack range and he heard one of them shout in barely understandable Yamataian, "My sister was on that planet!"

The NPA with the blood tie rushed at Hiroki again. He swung for Hiroki's neck, but Hiroki ducked under the blade and juked to the left to gain some distance. The NPA's partner fired several blasts from his Aether Rifle, all of them misses due to Hiroki's evasion tactics. The melee-focused NPA leaped forward preparing to slash at Hiroki once more. Hiroki readied himself, and when the timing was right, he dove under the Kuvexian's attack and drove one of his armor's spiked knees into its back, breaking some of the armor. The Kuvexian began to make gagging motions, a sign that it was suffocating from its life support system being irreparably damaged.

He had no time to watch the dying Kuvexian as there was still another one to contend with and it was firing its weapon at him. Hiroki returned fire with his CAR, but the Kuvexian used his thrusters to maneuver away from the deadly beam. The beam ceased when it was about to damage the hull of the Yukikaze. Hiroki pursued the crafty Kuvexian, trying to get a proper angle on him that wouldn't risk the Giretsu hitting the ship. He had to end his pursuit when a bolt from another Kuvexian starfighter forced him to turn off course and face the perpetrator. The gauss cannon was trained on the starfighter, and for a split-second he forgot about the other NPA, a moment that would prove erroneous.

The gauss cannon flashed red meaning disabled as the NPA sliced it away from Hiroki's Mindy 4 with its blade. Hiroki drove his spiked elbow joint into the torso of the NPA and it reeled back. Not another second was wasted as Hiroki finished off the stunned Kuvexian with a shot from his CAR that ended its life in a quick fashion. He hoped that neither Mikael nor the quartermaster would grill him for the loss of a gauss cannon. Fortunately, his life support systems didn't suffer any hits in the engagement. Now with only one means to defend the Yukikaze, Hiroki destroyed two more incoming missiles with his CAR before they could bring any more harm to the ship.

In that time, the other NPA pilot lost his life from lack of oxygen.

YSS Yukikaze Bridge

"One more hit like that Captain and we are done for!" a bridge operator reported to Sakurai Mizuki as the ship rocked from getting slammed by a kinetic round from a Kuvexian Destroyer. The Yukikaze a moment later fired its aether shock weapon instantly disintegrating Kuvexian NPA and starfighters as it cleaved right through a disabled enough carrier.

The bridge for a moment erupted in cheers before it was cut off with Yamataian patriotic singing coming over the open comms. They instantly recognized the voices as the bridge crew of the YSS Kamikaze. Plasma conduits leaking from the drives of the Chiaki 1B Destroyer and the engines sputtering in and out of life, everyone knew what was about to occur.

In a flash, the Kamikaze exploded in a spectacular fashion with the remaining pieces of the hull flying in different directions. But not before all of its escape pods were launched in order to distract and cover the launch of its savior pod. The Kuvexians spent no time shooting at the possibly helpless crewmembers of the fallen Destroyer.

"Shimakaze, anti-fighter duty. Let the 1st and 7th handle the ships." Mizuki commanded as the loss of the Kamikaze reduced their anti-ship capability by quite a bit.

Outside YSS Yukikaze

Mikael watched the Kamikaze go down and looked at the YSS Shimakaze and Yukikaze. None of them were looking particularly well. Going into a quiet rage, he began going firing at the Kuvexians that were going out of their way to destroy the escape pods.

For those that thought they could sneak up on him and try to shove an aether blade into like they could with the Mindies learned a hard lesson. Mikael, thanks to his armor's abilities, watched the warnings he would get and focused on them when not firing his CAR.

Once they were close enough, he would ignite his left arm's forearm weapon into a blade and shove it right into their heads or the location of their life support systems. It took about 20 lifeless or dying Kuvexians floating around him for the Kuvexians to get the hint and decide to engage him from afar collectively. They clearly saw his compact mecha as the greater threat.

Now he was forced to react and fire more defensively as he focused on which enemies were the biggest threat to the Yukikaze. His mini-missiles were depleted and his nodal drones were gradually being reduced to zero, leaving him with only his CAR and forearm weapons.

But even his CAR eventually fell prey to the masses as an errant aether beam he couldn't cleanly dodge cleaved into the weapon. "SOFT 7502 and 7505 have been destroyed. Remaining teams are under assault." Mikael's AI reported the situation to him.

"All 75th Giretsu elements, regroup at these coordinates. Assume Uchuugun formation Diamond and begin to sweep counterclockwise. Stay spread out and catch them with your crossfire and don't let them get close enough to engage in melee.

I know you are tired and running out of offensive options. Some of us have had our weapons destroyed. But we got to keep fighting! We got to keep murdering these fuckers! We got to keep the Yukikaze, Shimakaze, and the fleets alive long enough for the Essai to finish showing their destructive power! When the historians write about this battle, no one will say Giretsu Century of the 75th Legion picked up their ball and went home crying! Keep up the Point Defense! " Mikael said, likely issuing one of his last orders and rallying cry as he moved to the coordinates at the port side of the Yukikaze. The pragmatist SAINT operative ghost within him was screaming the odds of survival.

The ship's weapons were gradually being destroyed, which was cutting into the anti-armor cover they had been receiving. If they were going to survive the rest of this battle, they were going to need speed on their side. Plus a ton of luck from the Kami as well. But he was Nepleslian, the Kami don't give a damn about him.

"So this is what Itto Hei Kamiya felt like. Damn no wonder she is such a bitch. I wonder how Hiroshiko is handling her..." Mikael thought to himself as his Mecha was rocked by a Kuvexian's mini-missile. Then he noticed the Wrath of Nepleslia was among the Nepleslian transponders, he had a bad feeling.

YSS Kaiyō II

For the advancing legion and Third Fleet flotilla that had rode into battle alongside the Kaiyō from the depths of Kuvexian space rather than through an Essai portal, the battle had quickly grown equally as tumultuous as it had been so immediately for their compatriots from the Kikyo Sector. Amidst the glowing chunks of planetary detritus, wrecked warships, and the unthinkably gargantuan melee between the Yamataian and Kuvexian militaries, there was only time for any given soldier to survive. Picking good shots was more a luxury than it was a necessity, now, as the foul gold-plated troops and vessels defending Glimmergold fought to save their homeland — not simply from occupation but from the wrath of Yamatai's cataclysmic counter-strike.

Ketsurui Aiko and the Kaiyō's other Mindy-clad warriors were more prepared for the fight than most with almost two years deployed to the Kuvexian front behind them today. But while the constant warring away from home surely braced their psyches for the battle now, no prior skirmish or established beachhead could truly match the sheer scale of the engagement today. William's challenge to best his kill count soon became more burdensome than it was fun for Aiko while she mangled another Kuvexian power armor with her Kirie's war club, liquefying the man's bones within his suit before the gilded armor plates crushed around his body like a squeezed soda can.

The moment registered in Aiko's Nekovalkyrja brain as her 31st deathblow so far, but she said nothing to William this time and barely noted it in her own consciousness. She hadn't said anything to him for a few kills, not out of some grim animus or realization at the horrors of war but because she was already onto her next opponent. The force with which she landed on the Kuvexian starfighter's hull was enough to destabilize its trajectory, and two quick shots from one of her Kirie's shoulder-mounted 50mm gauss cannons into its purple pilot's bubble was enough to put the pilot into a panic. He lacked the focus and experience to do anything about Aiko's presence before she managed to smash through his starfighter's cracked canopy with her Kirie's fists and pop his helmet between its gauntleted fingers.

With nowhere to go but into the void, the Kuvexian pilot's blood painted the white parts of Aiko's Kirie a deep violet across its chest and face. And with him dead, his starfighter was easy for Aiko to shove off from with a thrusted kick and send into the hull of a damaged Kuvexian gunship that flickered dead-in-space while its crew fought their desperate battle aboard. Both golden ships died as unceremoniously as their worlds had just cracked under the Essai's might in their own spectacular little clouds of lavender aether and orange flame.

That made 33, since Aiko was only counting equipment.

The Kuvexian Navy space station that had fired its behemoth cannon only minutes before was stirring again, and sent off another shot toward the second Essai machine planet that had accompanied Yui's combined fleet. With how easily the first planet-weapon had been crippled and forced into a kamikaze attack, the Kuvexians manning their station clearly hoped for a repeat performance. A Super Eikan cruiser from the Third Fleet had anticipated the firing solution and intercepted its aetheric payload before the blast could find its mark. The YSS Haitaka was thus deleted from the battlefield with all hands lost.

"Uzume-shôshô!" Aiko called to the fighting general as she caught a glimpse the Haitaka felled. "We must stop that gun! Send a platoon to form up behind me. The fleet cannot retaliate while defending against such an onslaught!"

"A fine plan, Aiko-hime!" Uzume confirmed, responding with as much deference as a shôshô could to a taii. Even despite the princess's presumption, it was a good idea; her soldiers from the 777th were far closer to the station than any of the Yamataian ships defending those Essai worlds. "I've marked your position. Legionnaires on your tail."

More than a platoon came to help as Aiko darted toward the Kuvexian gun platform. First it was just those who Uzume had ordered to assist, and then more. Rikugun and Uchuugun from the vicinity all saw the phalanx of armors following behind Aiko and added to it as the group barreled toward their target. The samurai Rei was there, too, having never left Aiko's side despite the heat of battle. Some of their number fell off as they approached, either due to death or distraction, but still Aiko led them through the chaos without hesitation. Soon enough, she and the throng of soldiers backing her were within striking distance of the Kuvexian station and its big gun.

"Target its cooling relays and radiator vents!" Aiko instructed the soldiers who'd followed her as she hurtled her Kirie down and under the station's point defense cover to swing at one of the turrets. She bashed it a few times with her zesuaium tetsubo until it stopped moving and then turned her attention to the next, darting toward it while countermeasure pods streamed out from her armor's legs. "We must rip this cannon apart before it can fire again! Hurry! They will not tolerate us here for long!"

Ittô Heisho Sasaki Miyu
KE-V7 "Ginga" Bomber - Red Dragon
Joint Dragon Bomber Wing

Hearing the voice over the encrypted line coming back at her from Tokyo made her softly smile, the wing was badly damaged and some were barely holding out. Her own ship alerts were going off constantly as red lights blinking at her dashboard, the ship was pushing quite far and had taken quite the beating already. Taking a deep breath she nods as she taps her communication once more "The Tokyo is waiting for our return, let's not keep them waiting!" She said hearing the cheers over the communication grid as she encrypts a message back to Tokyo "Status is grim, most bombers are severely damaged...prepare for a hot welcome after payload is delivered" ( @Andrew ) With that said she pushed the ship again forward and instructs her fellow crew to provide cover fire as the guns started to blast off from the wings of the damaged Ginga.

Dodging the incoming space junk that was remnants of old KIN ships that got blown up, Miyu did her best to guide the wing into the trajectory of a KIN warship. The fighters were doing their duty to protect the bombers as best as they potentially could in the heavy rain of enemy fire. Miyu saw some of her fellow pilots get shot down by the enemy, but she kept her cool, stayed calm, and focused on the target at hand. Twisting the Ginga a few times to the right and left made it not easier for her crew to take aim at the enemy. But her duty was to deliver the payload and get her ship and even her wing back home.

"I...I can't hold onto this...AHHHH" A scream came over the communication as one of the bombers gets hit and exploded at her side.

The enemy fighters were cruel, experience, and quick to adept as they took another bomber out "I'm sorry Red Dragon..." were the final words that came from that ship as it explodes.

Another hit on the wing as Miyu had difficulty holding onto the path "GET READY" She yelled as her bombardier readied the payload. She put her broken helmet on and activate the guiding system as she locked onto the warship "LOCK, READY, Z1-1 TO 8 AWAY!" 8 torpedoes get launched from her ship as 4 other bombers followed creating a line of torpedoes that cruise towards the warship on high speed. The warship tried to turn away, but it was too late as the ship gets hit by the wave of torpedoes as explosion were seen across the warship, hanger bays get blown up, turrets get crippled and soon the ship side hull gets cracked by an internal explosion as escalated from the immense explosions it received.

The wing pilots cheered with their success as Miyu did her best to focus on the route back to her base. Enemy fighters retreat as their home turf got demolished. The ship engines started to shut down as its damage was getting worse by the minute "This is Red Dragon to Tokyo, an emergency landing in process, I have lost control over right-wing, engines are at a drop. Brace for impact on hanger bay" She had no time to respond to what Tokyo might respond as she opened comms to her other pilots "Take the other hanger bay for landing...resupply and patch up for another launch"

"Understood, good luck on the slide Red Dragon"

Miyu looked at the side of her window seeing her fellow pilot giving her the salute as she nods and focuses back on the trajectory towards the hanger bay. Hitting the power control to ease back as she notices her landing gear was not responding "Of course...hold on!" She announced to the others as the ship decrease the speed as much as possible and dive the nose a bit forward to make a better landing. The ship hits the floor of the Tokyo hanger bay and starts to slide as Miyu did her best to use the thrusters that were still working to push the ship back and eventually it came to a halt..thought she took some boxes with her. Taking a deep breath she leaned her head against the back of her chair.

NSS Southpaw

The Admiral cursed as another shot rocked the ship.

"Damn it! All ships, reroute power to the forward shields and focus all fire power forward. We need to punch a hole through the swarm!" Barret ordered

All of the Assualt Carriers focused their firepower, attempting to make any progress agaisnt the Kuvexian navy. The Nepleslian interceptors were desperately trying to gain "air" superiority, however the sheer number of Kuvexians were making the task a true challenge.

Nepleslian bombers were attempting to strike vulnerable ships, caught out of position and to far from support. Even still with the number of ships, enemy power armor, and interceptors meant that reinforcements were never far behind. They were in a race against time and time was never on their side.

YSS Kaiyo

William tore across the battlefield in his new Cyclops armor, methodically moving from enemy to enemy and dispatching them with ruthless efficiency. His nerrium claws and autocannons made short work of the Kuvexian armor.

He didn't mind Aiko's silence. He too was busy finding targets to strike at. It was after he sliced another Kuvexian clean in half, that he noticed the massive cannon, and the destruction it was causing.

He then noticed Aiko and a squad of Legionaries altering course to take on the cannon. "I'm on your 3 o'clock. I'll clear you all a path!" He said boosting forward. His massive frame dwarfing his allies. Two shields deployed from his forearm and he held them aloft. "Get some, Kuvexian bastards!" He roared, pushing his suits thrusters to their maximum. Enemy PA's that were unlucky enough to be caught in his path were slammed against his shields, before falling away in a crumpled heap.

YSS Yukikaze

The situation around the Yukikaze was growing dire. Hiroki witnessed the destruction of the YSS Kamikaze and thought of all the lives on board that did not make it to the escape pods in time. He zipped to the coordinates designated by Mikael and joined up in the Uchuugun Formation Diamond. Mikael's words rang through Hiroki's comms as he shot down two incoming NPAs with his CAR. When Mikael mentioned holding out until the Essai completed their task of annihilation, Hiroki was concerned that the loss of another Kuvexian world may just spur the surviving Kuvexians on to fight harder to avenge their fallen. The siege of Nataria galvanized the Yamataian Star Empire, so would it not be appropriate for the Kuvexians to respond in kind to the massive amount of civilian casualties on their side?

Hiroki gave himself a mental kick in the head to bring him back into reality. He may not have felt that zeal for battle that he once had, but there was no way he was going to cave to cowardice. His mind and body fired up as he spotted another Kuvexian troop transport pulling alongside the Yukikaze. This vessel was too close for Hiroki to pull off the stunt he did against the last one. The ramp lowered and a slew of NPAs deployed from the rear.

Many of the fresh reinforcements turned to melted corpses as Hiroki fired his CAR upon them. The transport tried to turn away, but Hiroki fired his CAR upon it, careful not to let his weapon overheat. One of the engines was cut away, leaving the transport with only one. Hiroki did not pursue, instead focusing on the NPAs that survived the initial beam attack. They closed in on the Yukikaze, but Hiroki learned from his last bout not to take his eyes off of the enemy. Two of the NPAs were fried from the beam while the other eluded it.

Hiroki switched to his forearm blasters, firing at the NPA who activated his shield and deflected several of the blasts whilst evading the others. The NPA was close to coming into melee range when Hiroki activated his CAR, catching the NPA off guard as the beam pulverized him and sliced a passing Kuvexian starfighter in half. The front half of the starfighter crashed into another starfighter that was about to commit to a strafing run on the Yukikaze. Hiroki knew that the Giretsu were among the best of the best, but he was aware that even the greatest needed help every now and then. Right now, both the Giretsu and the Yukikaze could really use some assistance.

YSS Tokyo
Bridge

"Good work, Himawari!" Through a SPINE interface in the chair he sat in, Yaichiro allocated some of the production capability of the shipyard to making a replacement forcefield system for repairing Hangar Two to get it back into operation as soon as possible. He was pleased with the ability of Himawari to take the concepts of his orders and build on them as well. He added medical supplies to the list of produced items, however. They would need them sooner than later. When the YSS Honshou fell, however, he had another idea and ran a few quick checks before deciding it was actionable. "Scan the remains of the Honshou. If there are sections that are safely salvageable and have survivors, grab the components with the Graviton Beam Projector Array and pull them into the shipyard ribs. Grab their SS Pod. Reallocate the surviving forces of the Honshou to other commands. Add them to the Tokyo's command structure if no other group has room for them. We can't afford to have confusion here." Though not a fan of giving less polite orders, there was a lot he had to do here.

Yaichiro continued his work. "I'm adding repair parts for Hangar Two and medical supplies to the fabrication list. I'm also adding the construction of Ke-Z1, Ke-Z3, and other fighter hardpoint-mounted armaments as opportunity allows. As prudent, use the exposed arms of the shipyard section to quickly re-arm the external hardpoints of allied fighters and make quick repairs or part swaps. We're going to use it as a fly-through zero-atmosphere re-armament and quick repair depot. We'll need it to compensate for our disabled hangar and for allied fighter and bomber wings that have lost their ships, especially those of the Houshou." True, the shipyard was meant to hold on to and fix ships, and would likely need to be used to carry some crippled vessels back, but it was huge enough to handle fighters moving in and out as well. There was ample production and work capacity. Attaching missiles and weapons pods to fighters whose stores had been depleted would be easy. In fact, it might be even easier and faster than having to return to the interior of a host ship to re-arm. The shipyard section had massive potential and needed new procedures written for how to most effectively employ it in combat.

While he spoke, Yaichiro carefully managed shield facings and repair queues through SPINE with Himawari's aid. Crew with medical experience were earmarked to be called on later to assist with the wounded.
