RP: Section 6 Operation: Ice Breaker

The salvo would strike ice, sending slight tremors to the anchored base below. It would take a while for the ice to be passed as atmospheric entry caused the salvo to spread. Projectiles rained from the sky to detonate across the frozen scape.

The S6 fleet would soon resume their advance, moving in from multiple angles. Their squadrons of fighters sent ahead to assault the enemy.

Alex fired the pulse lasers in the head of the Unicorn, and attempted to break up the metal streams that were threatening him. While he was partially successful, a few fragments of metal burned through his shields.

He passed close to two battlepods before they could manage to shoot at him, and fired point blank into their undersides. After that, he transformed and flew some distance away before turning around. He was now only at 6 missile pods left, and he was angry.

He was sure that the red battlepods had run out of missiles by now, the way they were wasting them on intercepting his projectiles. Launching 44 mini missiles at the group of red pods, he prepared to shoot down any strands of metal or missiles that attempted to intercept them. The empty missile pods was purged, bringing him down to 5 pods.

"Mikali" He ordered, "Take control of the missiles. Don't let them get intercepted."

Chi blew a big pink bubble with the gum she had managed to sneak with her to the Araxie's turret, letting her breath inflate the delicate pocket gradually and with little rush. Her booted feet rested at the same height as her eyes where she slouched in the padded seat, perched atop the swivel controls that were, thankfully, locked for now.

It had been an interesting view through the monitors around her, seeing the power armor tearing each other from a far enough distance she didn't have to worry about getting involved. Lolling her head back a little, the catsuited woman stretched with a moan. What she wouldn't do for a run around right now..

Soon enough, they were emerging into the chaos of a full scale conflict, causing her eyes to widen at the spectacle. Wow.. For a second, all systems lost power, dropping them into darkness for a brief moment. Keying the intercom, Chi-Chi called up to the Araxie's Bridge. "That was worrying."

Her radar was quickly lighting up to the point she couldn't afford to lounge about anymore, letting her feet hit the deck with a metallic 'clank' and disengaging the turret locks, just in case..

"Mmmhm," Mikki-chan replied to Alex, guiding each of the missiles towards the red pods. She flew them in a near-drunken fashion, twirling gracefully through space and changing course frequently, though still bearing them steadily closer and closer to their intended targets. Once the mini-missiles were close enough to the pods, Mikki would change tactics, flying them straight at their targets, hoping the element of surprise would let them hit their marks.

"Yes!" Adria exclaimed gleefully, wagging her tail. She was rapidly eating all the treats in the bag, way more than was healthy. At this rate she was bound to get sick. But she was already addicted to the cat treats, apparently not caring about the consequences to eating this many.

"We need that giant squid dead! Divert the fighters to the warden's position, we need support. Concentrate fire on it, we need to distract it. Fire everything!", The acting captain of the USV-Hammer barked over the command channel.

The squadrons of U-1s adjusted course to intercept the pods engaged with the skywarden, volleys of fire peppering them. The S6 continued firing, but their fire focused on the megamishuu. Shots would begin moving closer and closer, but not before another salvo from the monstrosity was unleashed. A brave frigate intercepted at Max burn, almost overheating its engines, but achieving the desired effect with a fatal consequence. The frigate stopped the salvo, but at the cost of the ship and her crew.

The frigate would come apart at the bulkheads as the salvo tore into it, causing numerous internal explosions before expanding into a cloud of wreckage.

Deep Space

Larger numbers of NMX Mega-Mishhu were arriving in the system, only to be met by more C5 drones and the Skyguard fleet... and even an Elysian ship. As the other attacks against PsychoPomp started to wrap up, more and more forces were being freed up to join this fight. Ships on the edge of the system were being broken up by weapons fire almost as fast as they were arriving, the sharpflashes from ships being vaporized by lasers or shattered by high-energy impacts could be seen as far away as the ice-world itself.

This left the Gigamishhu itself was already preparing another salvo, but as the Hammer approached from one side, and the Itano from the other, the Gigamishhu had no way to escape back tot he saftey of the rest of its fleet. The large creature would turn to escape, heading towards the edge of the star system, deploying the last of its battlepods, another swarm of a few thousand older Type 33s.

The creature itself lacked point-defense weapons, though its shields were strong enough to ward off all but the strongest firepower that the S6 fleet had to offer. Though the long range blasts from the nuclear artillery weren't enough to get through the shields, they were plenty strong enough to tear apart battlepods as they launched.

The Hammer and Anvil's main cannons faired far better. The majority of the shots missing at this extreme range... though when the first shot landed it tore right through the rear shield, forcing the Giga-misshu to cycle its shields around to cover the breach.

The focused fire on the Giga-mishhu would also mean the battlepods would quickly close the distance, the swarm focusing on the smallest ships in the fleet as they lacked the firepower to do much damage to the frigates and carriers.

Similarly, battlepods would be approaching the Itano and the Araxie as well, the larger ship doing its best to protect the Araxie with its powerful shields... though the previous impacts had already tore gaping holes in the protective barrier. The battlepods starting to swarm in to surround the Itano, wanting to attack from all angles to maximize their chances of getting firepower through the breaches in the shield.

Deep Space, but a lot closer to where Mikki and Alex are

The battlepods still had mini-missiles...

... many of which were launched at Mikki-chan's missiles. The NMX projectiles heading right at their targets, some being shot down by alex, some more being evaded entirely by Mikki's manuvers. The red battlepods continuing their strategy of splitting their attack between Alex's fighter and the mini-missiles being sent after them.

More and more firepower was poured into the space between the fighters, with S6's own craft backing up alex as the squadron of Red battlepods headed right towards them.

However the blinding flashes of light from the rapid series of explosions wouldn't slow Mikki-chan's sensors down at all. The mini-missiles starting to find their way through the hail of fire. As the battlepods made another fast pass by Alex, they would find half their number turned into rapidly expanding clouds of scrap.

Mikali's avatar frowned and narrowed its eyes as the battlepods closed in, countering her missiles with their own and intensifying the manic flight-paths of her projectiles to thwart them. Though some of her mini-missiles were inevitably struck down, some even being sacrificed deliberately by sending them on predictable paths to bait the enemy, those that remained found their marks. "Pop... pop, pop..." Mikki-chan muttered quietly in time with each successful impact, satisfied with her results, before speaking up to Alex. "I need some more missiles, Senpai. You got any more?"

Kryss rubbed the back of her head, she thought Adria would have enough self control to not make herself sick but she seemed to be eating an awful lot of the treats with no signs of stopping. Turning back to her screens there was nothing out o the ordinary they hadn't already seen, Dawn was making pages of recalculations based on the arrival of the IIS Araxie and Alex which was to be expected.

"Hey kiddo, maybe it's best if you lay of the treats for a bit, you've already had about half the bag and we only had the one." Kryss said turning on her chair to face Adria, a concerned look spreading across her features. "I don't think Jack and Mark would be very impressed if you went back from hanging with us sick either, and they probably wouldn't let it happen again which would mean no more treats." Kryss said watching the girl for her reaction at the idea of losing the treats for good.

Deep Space, but a lot closer to where Mikki and Alex are

Alex was silent, concentrating on the battle at hand, though he was satisfied with the kills he had obtained. Any stupid enought to stand between him and Psychopomp would pay with their lives. He fired off another 44 missiles and simply said; "Go" to Mikki.

As the S6 fighters approached, Alex broke off and burned towards the Skyguard fleet at maximum speed. Once there he picked up the makeshift hyperspace bomb he had ordered made, docked with it, then made his way towards the Gigamishhu.

Its lack of point defense guns and the fact that its battlepods were being slaughtered made it easy for him to slip through the gap in its shielding left from Hammer and Anvil's fire.

Once there, he swooped began to tear into it with the anti ship cannons, making a small hole in its hull before planting the hyperspace bomb. After activating it, Alex pulled away through the hole in the shields. The Gigamishhuu attempted to stop him, and a tentacle flashed towards him, slapping the mecha and tearing off its left arm.

"Chuu~" Mikali replied to Alex, smiling happily as she seized control of the mini-missiles and sent them off in pursuit of the remaining battlepods. Her tactics were mostly the same as they had been before: Evasive maneuvers as she closed in on the enemy, sacrificing a missile here and there if necessary, before going in for the kill.

On board the ISS Araxie

"Yeah it was. I didn't know it until we took out that facility earlier but this ship has poor power management," The elysian's cooled voice wavered a bit, Araxie herself already taxing the engines to put a bit more distance between herself and the battle. When proper fleets were involved, the Araxie didn't stand much of a chance. Those pod... Things made her nervous with how close they got. "Be careful down there, or we might shut down right away!" She hopped her words didn't come off as scolding, but the stress of battle... Wasn't something she was good at handling. The last time she remembered that she'd actually been involved in a fight, she nearly died. Two deaths was two over the amount of times she wanted to die... And getting picked apart piece by piece only made it worse.

The battle seemed to be progressing well, NMX forces being caught in a cross fire at the center, their numbers beginning to diminish now that their heaviest unit was now just an expanding ball of squidie viscera and debris. The fringe areas were more uncertain as they could be decided by a coin toss. Yes the battle was far from over.

S6 fleet held up their continuous salvos of anti-ship weapons opened up in a cross fire between their spread out fleet providing multiple angles of fire on one side and the Itano's fleet on the other.

The squadrons of fighters we're just mopping up what remained of the pods with few casualties. A storm of thruster emissions and weapons fire.

"Sir, enemy forces are attacking what has been IDed as the Itano. The Araxie has been sighted near it's vicinity with hostiles in the area. Orders?"

"Have the Banshee, Horizon, and New Dawn take the last couple U-1s we have left, and the five Possessors that returned. Have them run armed escort for the Araxie, standing orders are to waste anything not tagged with a friendly IFF."

"Orders sent and confirmed. Banshee, Horizon, and New Dawn away and on course, ETA to rendezvous is 6 mikes. Sir the warden has taken significant damage, extent unknown, pilot condition unknown."

"Once the fighters are done mopping up the pods, divert them to his location. The civilians are priority one. Their safety means more than victory."

"Aye aye sir."

Casdan was acting captain with the commanders deployed. She watched the holo map of the battle pieced together from sensors and shared data from allies on the battle net from the captain's chair. It seemed reinforcements were still arriving on both sides. Making the fringes of the system almost impassable for anything less then a huge battleship. She rubbed her chin for a moment in thought until turning her attention to the surface forces progress and status. Things were getting riskier every second. She didn't like this.

The three SS1 frigates with the few units they could spare adjusted their course to speed over to the Araxie at full burn. Their markers on the map quickly zipped towards their charge as Casdan marked that as one worry of her list.

They would arrive within a few minutes to open up on the group of pods that was assaulting the Itano trying to get to the easier prey behind it. They would form up in a spaced triangle formation around the Araxie, guns at the ready to shoot anything down not displayed as friendly while Two wings of five U-1s were released to fly as escort and ready to intercept. The last addition to the defensive formation being the five Possessors armed with gunpods, munition dispensers, and W3200 heavy coil guns who kept close to the ship itself.

"USV-Horizon to ISS-Araxie. Friendlies here to provide overwatch and escort. Well keep you safe for the duration of the battle. Your safety is our number one priority."

Space

The gigamishhu would start phasing out as the Gigamishhu approached, the massive ship dissapearing in a shimmer that extended from front to back. Just as Alex started to pull away... by the time Alex was finished playing the bomb, the Gigamishhu was gone.... along with Alex.

---

Still Space

Battlepods would start to close in around the ISS Araxie more and more. The small pods getting further and further into the rapidly diminishing defenses of the Itano...

... until the remaineder of the S6 defendors got in close, quickly helping to equalize the fight. The battlepods around the ISS Araxie starting to be wittled away, being unable to penitrate through the shields of the frigates.

However, the fight just outside of the system was slowing starting to go the other way. More Megamishhu were showing up all the time, and the combined USO fleet would soon be outnumbered. Even as the Itano started to move into formation with the Hammer and the Anvil, the Megamishhu were starting to group up just outside of the system.

It would be the captain of the Itano, Keller Dietrich, that would make the call to Jack and Mark.

"There are more of them coming. I do not expect that we can continue this fight for much longer."

Phased Out

When Alex's U1 stopped spinning from the tendril hit, he'd find himself phased out along with the Gigga-mishhu. Here in this place there was nothing but the Gigga-mishhu, Alex, and one point of light impossibly far away. No stars, no planets, no heat but what was being radiated off the hull of the massive creature that had just thrown Alex away. A single tendril would start digging into its own hull, working to pull the bomb planted inside of it out...

The Shadow Realm (I hope that's not copyrighted)

Alex opened fire, his bullets tearing into the tendril to keep it from digging the bomb out. Then he fired the four remaining pods worth of missiles. 176 in total. The 8 tentacles appeared to be unarmored, and would be easy prey for mini missiles.

"Mikali, take care of all of its tentacles with the Missiles. I don't want it to get that bomb out of its skin."

With Mikki taking care of the Gigamishuu, Alex focused on getting back to the normal world. And back within striking distance of psychopomp. He headed towards the light, having no better reference point for 'away' from the Gigamishuu.

"You got it, Senpai~" Mikki-chan replied, grinning with glee at the sheer volume of destructive missiles under her direct control, and sent them soaring towards the Gigamishh's tentacles. Explosions broke out across the various appendages, with missiles chasing down the flailing tentacles and impacting upon them.

Adria dropped the bag, surprised. "Nonono that won't happen!" she said, worried, now nudging the treat bag away with her tail. Her stomach rumbled, close to getting sick, but apparently she had stopped in time.

Shadow

One of the massive tendrils would head right for the bomb that had been planted on the hull of the gigga-mishhu. Mikki's missiles would easily find their target, blowing off small chunks of fleshy material from the length. The rapid flashes only slowing down the tendril for an instant.

However that was enough.

By the time the tendril reached the bomb, the weapon was already going off. Another bright flash would split the rear section of the Gigga-mishhu off entirely. The engine section cut clean off, the split through the rear section of the ship glowing white hot as thick yellowish blobs started leaking out into space. A shell of fragmentation from the blast now radiating outward.

The creature's tendrils just started twitching afterwards.

As Alex continued to fly away, he'd find the bright spec of light out in the distance was quite far... easily 20-30 light years away from his location.

The Shadow Realm

Alex raced away, activating his FTL drive to escape the radiating blast from the hyperspace bomb. Whatever that light was, it was a clear indication of something new, and he figured that it'd be best not to linger too long around the Gigamishhuu. Its reactors were probably volatile, and he didn't want to be around when those went up.

Normal Space

Meanwhile, in real space, the S6 fleet was fighting off the last of the nearby Mishhu. PsychoPomp's ships were leaving the system.

The Itano and the Araxie had fallen into formation with the Hammer and Anvil... but the reinforcement C5s that Vier could provide were no longer making it into the system. The Mega-Mishhu on the edge of the system were arriving in greater numbers that Vier's drones could, and soon the Mega-Mishhu were able to establish a foothold. A group of 20 slowly growing to a group of 30... then 40... their rapid growth only being slowed by the occasional arrival of another drone which would manage to take down one or two on a suicide run before being destroyed itself.

Vier would be the one to contact Mark and Jack,

"I do not think we will be able to stay above the planet for much longer. What is the ETA for the completion of your tasks?"
