Konoka Miyazawa said:
"By the way, Sune-san, did you enjoy yourself last evening?" She smiled remembering all the good times.

Smiling Sune replied, "Yes, last night was a lot of fun. Thank you for making it more enjoyable. All to soon now, we will be heading back up and seeing where the Eucharis takes us."

Once everyone was done, Hanako gave them all directions to gather their bags, check out from the hotel, and then meet up at the shuttle landing pad up on the roof level.

The small lobby at the landing area was crowded with crew members--mostly Valkyrja--gathering for other shuttles. When Hanako arrived, she immediately spotted Pineapple waving at her and went to speak with her.

"Taisa! I have the Telemachus II waiting," the former sprite said.

"Excellent," Hanako nodded, looking around for the others, then out to the pouring rain.

"The hotel is providing umbrellas," Pineapple said, pointing out a clerk giving them to the guests.

Hamada had arrived just in time to be a little bit late, but a little bit late was better than not at all. In truth, Shizu hadn't planned to report even this early, but after a couple of days off on liberty and a new years' party that had left her with a headache and a lingering feeling that she'd probably done something wrong, it was about time she got back to doing what she was supposed to do, when she was supposed to do it.

When she had arrived in off of the rainy street, everyone had already started to file up and head upstairs. Unwilling to make a scene, she had simply tucked her white scarf underneath her cloak and melded in with the rest of the crowd heading up to the landing pad.

Once topside, she assessed the situation and noticed the Taisa off, talking to the sprites and, recognizing her from the picture in the textbooks of the Academy, took one of the umbrellas from a clerk and moved off after her.

Ignoring a slight ache in the back of her head, the damp-looking Hamada preoffered the folded umbrella to the Taisa, along with a faint smile.

"Good morning, Taisa-san. Here, it's rather unpleasant out there."

Taisa Hanako accepted the umbrella with a small nod and a "thank you."

Big golden eyes looked into Shizu's for a moment. "I have been expecting you...but I did not expect to see you until I returned to the ship. I suppose this means our interview has just begun. Are you excited I selected you as a candidate for the First Officer Position?" Hanako asked. Eucharis was an unusual assignment, coveted by some and fearfully avoided by others.

Beneath the rain cloak, Hamada folded her hands in front of her at her waist and returned the Taisa's gaze. She got a bit of an uneasy feeling from the eyes of the Taisa, but decided to let that pass. This had not gone as terribly as she had imagined. It was much better than presenting herself in front of all the enlisted she had seen downstairs. That was something she had been dreading all night.

After bowing slightly to the Taisa, she looked off into the rain, gray eyes mirroring the overcast sky.

"I was unaware that Taisa-san had selected me personally. I feel honored."

Hanako raised her voice and shouted over the crowd. "EUCHARIS! EUCHARIS! WE SHALL DEPART NOW!" With the umbrella overhead, Hanako briskedly led the way through the rain, across the soaked landing pad, and into the waiting shuttle. The interior still had that "new fabric and plastic" smell, she noticed.

Hanako took a seat in the left aisle (Seat A1) and saved seat B1 for Shizu, since the two seats faced each other.

"Let us talk about your skills and areas of interest," Hanako suggested, once Shizu was seated.

For the second time this morning, Hamada fixed her cover, ducked her head slightly, and plunged out into the rain, flanking the Taisa to her left. She shivered slightly when she felt the cold, but stuck it out until she boarded the shuttle and took her seat across from the captain.

There was no need to remove her rain gear, since shuttles were usually designed with that sort of thing in mind, so she sat her cover in her lap and pushed some of her wet hair back and out of her face, making a mental note to tie it back next time.

"I completed the required courses to be qualified for a position as an intelligence operative, before I recieved my qualifications as a line officer," Hamada answered, not precisely sure exactly what she was supposed to say, "The rest is in my training jacket, I think."

After a little bit of awkward silence, Hamada carefully added, "Is there anything specific that you would like to know, Taisa-san?"

The Taisa took a brief moment to brush her windblown light blue hair back into place before continuing. "Specifically, I would like to know that which is not in your file. I desire to know your favorite and most skillful parts of your profession," she elaborated. "Remember I am evaluating you right now, so it would benefit you to open up and speak more."

Pineapple passed between the two as she returned to the cockpit, and began preparing for liftoff.

"Hello and good morning Konoka-san," Nika replied to the hyped-up neko with a smile, "Today is a good day, eventhough the rain makes outside gloomy and stuff." She finished her sandwich, noting Hanako had finished as well and started giving directions to others to pack up and ready to board the shuttle back to the Eucharis.

"Lets gather our belongings. We don't want our Taisa to be waiting." Nika finished her drink, "Lets meet back up at the shuttle then, Hotaru-san, Konoka-san." With that she headed back to her room, making sure she had not left out anything, and went to the lobby, sighing out at the huge throng of people packed within the area.

Picking an umbrella, the neko followed directions, heading to the shuttle assigned to them. Inside, she took a seat at D5, noting that Hanako was talking to someone who she did not recognise...

Hamada crossed one leg over the other and settled back into her seat.

"I think that my profession," she ventured, "Is simply knowing things. I read a great deal about our own history in the academy, Taisa-san, as well as a few things about other civilizations, and I thought that was going to be my job, in a sense. An operative is supposed to learn a great deal about almost everything. We find out things - acquire knowledge that most people never have the opportunity to come across. That is what I wanted to do, when I chose that specialization. To go places and see things, and to know things that nobody else does."

The shadow of a real smile had begun to form for Hamada before, pausing for a moment, she glanced down towards the loading ramp and noticed the shuttle's new inhabitant. Turning back to the Taisa, she ended, "Is that something of what you wished, Taisa-san?"

Upon hearing Hanako's announcement Sune stood. "Well, I will see you on the shuttle." He picked up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He walked out and took one of the proffered umbrellas. He walked quickly to the shuttle, once there he chose to sit in A5. He stowed his bag, and then removed his sunglasses and put them in his pocket. He noticed the Taisa talking to a person he had not seen come down with them. He pulled out his Tet Buddy and pulled up his game.

Finished with breakfast, packed, and back in uniform – a welcome fact indeed – Junko made her way to the shuttle, getting a little wet in the rain. She hid it with her holographic projection, but then noticed that everyone else seemed to have umbrellas. A closer look showed they were all marked with the hotel’s brand. Cursing herself silently for not noticing their availability, she moved back to the seat she had taken on the way down, D7. Forcing a brief smile at Himeya before settling after of her, Junko was more than ready to get back into space.

Hanako didn't seem satisfied. "I suppose being difficult to get information out of suits an operative well," she quietly remarked before continuing. "Knowing things is a part of all professions--some more than others--and as an intel you need to be an expert. In addition to being the first officer, I will need you in an intelligence officer and advisor position. I may also put your operative skills to use for away missions," Hanako explained. "I hope you fare better than my last intel specialist, Kanashii Karei. She was killed in action on our last mission."

Seeing Junko arrive, the Taisa gave her a little wave over the middle seat rows.

Kumiko scrambled a little, having slept in rather than getting up for breakfast. As she jumped into her uniform, she smiled slightly. The party had been more fun than she'd expected. Hearing the Taisa's yell, she hurried back onto the shuttle, and sat down in seat A10, slightly out of breath. She hadn't wanted to be left behind after all, and that would look bad on her record, to say nothing of being embarrassing.

Ramiro casually drifted towards the shuttle once his breakfast was finished. He didn't bother stopping for an umbrella and instead lifted his jacket above his head and walked towards the shuttle. He slowly drifted on board and made his way to the back where he had sat on the journey to the planet, but smiled as he saw Kumiko there. He walked over and sat down next to her in seat A11 and then turned to her. "Good morning Kumiko, how was your evening?"

Finishing her breakfast, Hotaru followed Konoka and Nika out of the breakfast area and towards the main lobby.

Entering the lobby area, Hotaru spotted Pineapple waving over to the Taisa. Having already handed her key in and booked out, Hotaru strolled over towards the two taking a proffered umbrella as she went past, saying a thankyou.

Noticing a Taii introduce herself to the Taisa, Hotaru looked around to see who was ready to board. Hotaru almost, almost jumped when the Taisa shouted for the Eucharis crew.

Hotaru hoped no-one saw her start slightly as she continued to board the shuttle. Seeing her previous seat taken and the Taisa in conversation with the new Taii, Hotaru gave a little space and sat in B10, facing Kumiko-san.

Settling herself and getting comfy, Hotaru asked Kumiko, "Morning Kumiko-san, how did yesterday and last night go? Enjoy yourself? It was very good even with the poor weather towards the end."

"Aye, aye," she replied, keeping her unease to herself as she had been doing, "Taisa-san."

Taking her time to glance over the crewmembers who had just boarded the shuttle, Hamada drifted into her own private musings. Her chain of thought tended to linger somewhat unhealthily around the prospect of being killed in action. It had been her first concern when she had received her orders, and hearing the fate of the former intelligence officer on the Eucharis, sad to say, did not help the faint knot forming in her stomach. She wondered, very briefly, what it must be like to die.

Without thinking very deeply, she asked; "And yourself, Taisa-san? After so many years of service, does anything still excite you?"

When asked what excited her, Hanako suddenly had a most amused smile on her face, stifling a giggle before answering in a serious manner: "Sex."

The rising hum of the shuttle's engines grew in intensity and the overhead air vents came online, blowing somewhat stale, processed air that lacked the scent of the nearby ocean and rain.

The captain buckled her harness. "You are doing alright so far," she told Hamada. "I am looking forward to introducing you to the crew, and I expect you to get to know each of them."

"Ready to move, Taisa!" Pineapple shouted over the humming, popping her head out of the cockpit for just a moment.

Hanako started doing a headcount. "We are missing Konoka," she noted.

While waiting, Nika was 'plugged in' looking through the status of the Eucharis, eyes in awe of the modifications done, surprised on how much the ship could actually be fitted with.

It was then the shuttle main engines are starting up got her back to reality, noting Hanako, while buckled up, was doing a head count.

"Taisa, should we wait for a moment for Konoka-Hei? I've a feeling she might be stuck among the others at the lounge." The neko paused for a moment, "Maybe I could go back down to the hotel to find her?" She requested.

"Alright," Hanako nodded. "Be quick...do not take longer than ten minutes."

To everyone else, Hanako noted, "If anyone wants to make some online orders--shopping--this may be your last chance to do that before we start the next mission."
