RP: YSS Eucharis [Pre Mission 26] Getting Settled In (YE 38)

Power Armor Bay

Watching Astridr fumble with the combat knife made Tsuguka think of ways to improve the situation. Seemed a bit wasteful for a suit that cost as much as several transport shuttles to end up walking around with a Yama-Dura toothpick... And even if the new suit was made mostly of Zesuiam plates, the guns certainly were not. She couldn't help but feel she was going to end up manually kicking enemies in the face again.

Rather than bug him directly, a message was send to Jax's communicator for later reference.

<-"Joto Hei Jackson Howard. Tsuguka here. If you could fabricate about five of those Daisy-style plasma blades for the team's use, it would be much appreciated. I also require a type 35 automatic grenade launcher, and as much ammo for the thing as you can manage. We are equal rank, so it's within your karma to request a favor in return."->

A shrug. Even if it was protocol to wear one, just looking at the dorsal leader support pack made her feel physically ill. Using it felt like staring at the back of your own head. The sensors were just too extreme in their detail for a born grunt like her. No, a general equipment pack would be better. Giving the unit covering fire would suit their skills better anyways... These Orochi types were all smash and grab, according to their personal files. The red nekovalkyrja could only wonder what they would be like in a hostage situation, or an infiltration mission. No matter.

"Don't forget about requesting new equipment from the fabrication system." A renewed comment to Junko, Freyja and Shiho, as Tsuguka uncoupled her helmet and began to snap open her armor once more. "If you have earned the right to be here already, I'm not going to baby you."

"I'm going to the wardroom. Protocol dictates they will have fresh shiso gyosa at the start of the next allocated provision allocation time." A blank stare, grim eyes suggesting this was a serious matter that they weren't taking to heart nearly fast enough. "I'm literally going to eat all of it if you are not there. The whole squad's worth. This is not a suggested course of action."

Then the floaty-feet dragging started again, the sinister catgirl making her way back into the vertical corridor.

Wardroom

“I wanted to convert this smoke dispenser to drop a biological payload. But hauling around B.C.A.C. is a lot different than dropping cells. Heat, Temperature, and Pressure tolerances are a lot tighter for biological material. The busting charge also has to be swapped out to something smaller since the explosive used in the original design would damage the payload itself.

We could make the blasting charge smaller and just use it to crack the casing, but distribution would be sub-optimal... plus we would need to redesign the casing anyways to allow the material inside to survive in the vacuum of space or redesign the dispenser that holds the casings to keep them stable while in transit.

I figured, you may have more experience keeping things alive than I do." Wazu explained to Jax, quickly rambling through the technical aspects while showing some pictures of what he was talking about on his Datapad.

Junko flinched at the sudden, unexpected shout from the intelligence agent. She wondered how anyone had managed to breach a ship of this caliber. Then it occurred to her that the issue might have been a sore spot with Suites. Maybe something to consider in the future.

Tsuguka was a bit more down-to-earth and immediately practical. It was a lesson instructors had hammered into her from the first day of boot, in reflection. That the one time you underestimated an enemy was the one time you shouldn't. It was a trap, one that'd kill you and your sisters.

She stepped back to the armor rack and undid the seal at her chin. Air hissed out, the rubberized neck ring loosening its grip. She did a lean-shrug that was muscle memory at this point, settling the collar piece into the holder behind her. The armor opened and she crawled out, pulling herself by the arm bar of the rack.

"Lets see what we have..."

Without much field experience in the situations she'd need, that meant her choices now would be largely hypothesis. She chose countermeasure pods for the legs, a classic and a holdover. Gauss on the shoulders for long range fire support. Support bits to held with quantity of fire. Type 33 pistol for a decent back up sidearm and an SMG for mid-to-close work.

Junko inspected the entire suit, and the newly attached equipment, before she stepped away. Everything had to be just right, properly attached and stocked. The image of Rixxikor scuttling down the halls came to mind. Worst case, they'd be fighting in the ship itself.

When Tsuguka spoke up next, she met the veteran's eyes. They were hard, cold things with no empathy or remorse. Somehow, she just knew she was entirely serious about eating all that gyosa. That could not be allowed to happen.

Tsuguka must be stopped, no matter the cost.

So it was, Junko followed right after her floating superior.

Once she did arrive, Junko already had something of a plan. All she had to do was get a fair portion for everyone. Then just hand them out as appropriate to her squadmates. If Tsuguka tried stealing any, she could just try and use a fork?

Okay, maybe that part was a bit much. Maybe.

YSS Eucharis - XO's cabin


"That doesn't sound crazy at all" Natsumi replied and gave Sigurd a reassuring smile. "I will convey your wishes to Shosho Hanako" she went on, "I don't think you will have anything to worry about, but the final decisions is not mine to make"

She could feel the rumble of the deckplates as the ship lifted off and ascended to space. They were off again for another adventure. She was sad another vacation was over too soon and who knew how long it would be till she got to see her sister again, on the other hand, she was excited to get back out into space and on the job once more.

"Is there anything else you need?" she asked, turning her attention back to Sigurd.

YSS Eucharis, Wardroom

He felt ancient as she asked him for training. Candon had been warned that if he had stayed in the business long enough people would ask him for advice but explaining the nature of his job in the skills required was not an easy thing to do.

"You know, most of the skills I have came OJT Style before I was invited to SAINT. Probably 80 percent of this job is paperwork, and there's no pay raise by the way. The purpose of a SAINT operative is to serve the Empire as its eyes and ears, so being observant is important. If I had to pick one skill to train you on it would be to make you hyper aware of your surroundings, second would be Memory retention. Honestly though, if you can only work on one subject at a time SAINT wouldn't be for you. Judging by the diversity of your training you don't seem like the type that gets too narrow-minded. Is SAINT training something that you are interested in?"

YSS Eucharis - Wardroom

"Uh, wow..." Jax muttered with a small grimace. Challenge, indeed! He absent-mindedly popped a gyoza in his mouth, chewed, and swallowed. Next, he pulled out his communicator and transferred Wazu's schematics to the device, as well as to the consoles down in fabrication.

...That's about when he saw yet another request.

...And that's about when he considered spacing himself out an airlock before anyone else could heap a job on him.

He didn't have a favor for Tsuguka- yet- so he simply sent back a confirmation that the message was received and understood.

"Right, so, I'll need to take another, long look at this before I can give you a straight answer. But... I think I know where you're going with this, and I think I like it."

So, with that, Jax did what he normally did when he had a full workload. He filled his plate, then disappeared down the lift to his hobbit hole.

Fabrication

After a quick stop in the armor bay to pick up Candon's Mindy, Jax began work on the weapons requested by Tsuguka. It was the easiest job, because these were weapons that were already in mass production. Type a simple code into a fabricator, input the number of copies desired, and presto. Tug-boat's knives and grenade launcher would be complete within the hour.

Next, Jax donned a pair of goggles and a filter mask, and hung up the armor with its limbs spread wide. While burning away the old paint with a laser, a thought struck him:

He still needed to install intake grilles on the new armors.

"Add it to the list..." he groaned, his voice muffled slightly from the mask.

Med Lab

Taharial was happy to be in her home away from home, all that happened on Yamatai was fun but nothing beats her one true comfort zone in the sterile Medical facility. She grinned as she looked over the roster and giggled seeing who was on, she had managed to sneak in early so she didn't have to deal with anyone seeing her as she was a lot more hyper than normal and was pretty much skipping around the Med Lab and just felt like she needed to work on something a little more interesting.

She sighed as she wondered what there next mission was, she knew that there were a lot of new people and sighed "Great more people to sort out and only one medic for all of them." She chuckled and smiled "Just what I want, I like a challenge and if there was someone else in here, I think I would get annoyed" while she talked to herself she decided to message Hanako just to let her know that they still had a medic.


She looked around "I still need to finish with that Insect acid that can be useful for us at something" she sighed and brought out the jars then started to work on working out the chemical compound and if they could copy it.

Wardroom Booth

She could think about many things at once, he was right, and at the moment she was thinking about a hundred different variables that went into making this decision on a personal level, but then they all vanished when she made the decision on a much more important level.

"I want to serve the Empire the best way I can. If that means being its eyes and ears, that's what it means. If it means being a part of its scientific ventures, that's what it means. I have no place choosing which it will be, if it is either of those at all."

Oshiro Masumi said, "What I do know is that I will put all of my efforts into doing what the Empire needs of me. I would never pass up an opportunity to do so. Training to be a part of SAINT is an opportunity to do what the Empire needs of me. I would be happy to do so on top of my duties as a scientist."

YSS Eucharis, Wardroom

"I'm glad to hear that. I'll send some information to your datapad this evening. They're just some information packets and self administered tests. Don't cheat on the tests, you'll only be cheating yourself. The point of them is to ensure that a position in SAINT would be something that you could cope with and most of them have no wrong answers. Just keep in mind that becoming a part of SAINT is extremely difficult. Thousands of applicants a year are turned away in SELECT and typically that's because they weren't prepared for the program. Studying all the information they offer will make it significantly easier."

Candon gently removed his communicator from the edge of the table and clipped it back to his belt.

"After the Infantry get here and eat I'm going to introduce you and organize the team. Your time yours until then."

YSS Eucharis
Wardroom

"Thank you Candon Suites-heisho." She then said, "I deeply look forward to working and training with you."

When she had joined the Eucharis she had thought there was one opinion aboard the ship and one opinion only that mattered, and that was Shosho Hanako's. She wondered, now, if she was being disloyal by finding importance in the opinion of Candon Suites.

She got up and walked down the step, to the buffet. She surveyed the food and instead of eat any decided to sit at the main table and wait for the speeches. Perhaps Hanako's words would give her insight into what role she was to play aboard the ship.

YSS Eucharis - XO's cabin


The rumble of the ship starting came as a little shock to Sigurd since he was certainly supposed to at least have moved into his cabin by now. Instead he'd wasted the time with this stupid issue.

"Err... yes, actually. I think I still need a cabin assigned, ma'am", Sigurd replied. What a mundane thing to ask for after the whole mind backup thing...

Wardroom

Tsuguka observed Junko following her, and began to formulate different methods of throwing the short bluish-haired neko off. An s-type body would have been nice, so she could go invisible without her armor. Using standard NH33 volumetrics could be used to disguise her as Hanako, maybe, as long as she didn't talk... But baked goods were probably worth getting court marshaled over, not even gyosa.

Okay, plan A, then. Toyoe Tsuguka was a creature that specialized in defense. Holding a fork at the back of her fingers as one might a shuriken, the red lynx put her implacable martial stance between the new recruit and the buffet.

Contrary to popular belief, the soldier did smile on occasion. But those sharp, angular eyes and seemingly elongated fangs, both set on a face altogether triangular and predatory... It was not something many people wished to see all that often.

"If you want them... Take them from me, Santo Hei."

YSS Eucharis - Bridge

The main display screen showed a dark starfield that changed only slightly over time. To the untrained eye, it might look like the ship was not moving. But space was vast and the ship was racing to the edge of the star system. A block of numbers and stats in one corner of the screen showed how far there was to go and how long it would take.

Now that Eucharis was on her way, Shosho Hanako seemed more content and less in her own world. She looked to her Elysian clerk, her eyes lingering for a moment on the woman's tan skin, which was unusual for an Elysian. "Calidius-Hei...Miss Belle," she addressed Mehitabel. "You may now proceed with the report you mentioned." Hanako visibly relaxed and leaned back in her chair to listen.

At the time time, Hanako also composed and sent a simple message to Candon. "Black is okay for your armor."

YSS Eucharis - Armor Bay to Wardroom

Freyja's stomach began to rumble. She had been so caught up in breaking in her Mindy and choosing her gear, even the thought of hot gyosa didn't draw her attention. The description of the enemies they would be facing had her a little worried. It sounded different than the threats they had been trained for. She wanted to be prepared, but her hunger had other ideas.

The hungry Nekovalkyrja exited her armor in record time. "That gyosa better still be there!" She hissed as she ran towards the Wardroom. Turning back to make sure Shiho was coming. Unfortunate for her and Junko, she hadn't realized someone was in front of her. Freyja ran straight into Junko and to the floor on top of her. It took a moment for her to realize what had happened.

"That hair.." She muttered, nuzzling the other girl gently. "Junko-hei?" She asked curiously, her face so close to Junko that her warm breath could probably be felt on her neck. Suddenly her face turned dark purple as she remembered where she was. It didn't take her long to rise to her feet quickly and look around the room.

When her eyes locked on to Tsuguka her eyes widened. The poor girl looked like a deer in headlights. She couldn't figure out whether to run or fall over and play dead.

Bridge

"As you're aware, Shosho, we've taken on quite a few new personnel before departing. The infantry department is at full strength; though most of the new personnel have combat experience they're still fairly new. Ah, the report indicates that we've also been assigned two science specialists. Sigurd-hei has returned from special projects and Masumi-hei has been assigned from Education Facility 2. She seems to be quite the catch, if her array of specialties is any indication," she tried to sound as authoritative on the subject at hand as it was possible for a Santo Hei to be when briefing an Admiral. Belle kept her wings tucked back out of the way, straight, perfectly aligned as was manageable,"All personnel were aboard and accounted for before departure."

"Victory-heisho reports all the new Mindy-4 sets aboard, along with provisions and other material, and..." She paused to flick her eyes to another part of her display, taking in the latest update Charisma had helpfully passed on to her, "...Suites-heisho appears to have had them all fitted and issued out to their new operators."

"Accordingly berthing space is at a premium," Belle continues, smothering a nervous flex of her stiff limbs, "There are two spaces left in the regular sleeping quarters; one in Cabin 2 and one in Cabin 3. There's one slot left in the sleeper module."

Mentally shifting the display in front of her, Belle ran her tongue over her teeth as she screened out some routine status reports that had been left in her queue, hmming as the end came up, "And I think that's all for the routine matters, mist-, Shosho. For my part, I've sorted through all the items that require action before we depart the system. Everything that requires your signature is summarized for review."

Belle stepped forward, holding out her hand to transfer the file over the Hanako.

<<Wardroom>>

Junko narrowed her eyes at the veteran Neko. She didn't back down, or even seem intimidated by the obstacle in her path. This was for her sisters, her squadmates on this new ship. For all Neko everywhere, who had gone without a piece of Gyoza!

And then something hit her from behind and brought her to the floor. A surprised squeak-squawk heralded the crash. She became aware of a weight on her, roughly humanoid if she had to guess. Then she turned her head to see behind her.

Oh, that was Freyja on top of her right now. Some reason, she was completely okay with that. That nuzzle made an odd feeling pop up in her stomach, like butterflies. Before she could give the subject more thought, Freyja was getting up and she had to hide the disappointment on her face.

"F-Freyja-Hei, if you can get some for everyone, I think I can hold Tsuguka-Hei. Not sure for how long, though." Junko warned. The veteran soldier had greater practical experience and a weapon. Not to mention all she had to do, in theory, was stand in place.

Junko advanced forward and wrapped her arms around Tsuguka. Instead of trying to pin her, though, Junko lifted the other Neko bodily up. Before she could squirm out, she took and tried carrying the squad lead out of the wardroom. Hopefully her sacrifice would buy Freyja precious seconds to secure the objective.

Wardroom

Strangely, the stern red nekovalkyra did not attempt to deflect Junko's grappling attempt, and indeed was lifted completely off the ground by the head-to-chin shorter soldier... Actually dragging her out of the room, however, was a different story. Tsuguka had made a special effort to train up and strengthen her levitation organ recently, the results of which made her flying power an aggressive and slippery sort of force. Even with two feet on the ground, Junko found that moving the neko was like trying to catch a glob of gelatin between a pair of chopsticks.

"Committing to such a brazen attack so quickly?" That smile continued. She was clearly enjoying just testing their guile at this point, as well as making the blue-black haired neko squirm with effort. Those twin braids jangled menacingly as they both struggled, eyebrows arcing with a certain tenacious exhilaration. "Don't neutralize yourself, that's my objective!"

Using her anti-gravity organ also allowed Tsuguka to keep her legs free, a fact which she exploited by twisting her waist, and grasping at the blue skinned form of Freyja with her coiled forelegs. Now Junko could either go on the attack to free her friend, or choose to stay in a stalemate, and condemn her fellow Santo Hei to a muscular neko thigh prison.

"Anyone else? I still have teeth!"

Wardroom

Taharial flew into the wardroom as she got bored of waiting around "Why did no one invite me to the party?" She gave a cheeky grin and looked around the people that where there, she smirked when she saw Tsuguka and two others fighting, she flew over and grinned at them all "Now, now, that is no way to treat Tsuguka-Hei." She slowly floated to the ground in a menacing way as her wings closed around her back, her medic uniform was in perfect condition, but the bit that stood out most was the gleam of the scalpels in her belt.

She walked to past the group fighting on the ground "You got them darling, just shout if you need a scalpel or ten thrown at someone." She turned to Candon "Hey, can I eat, or do I have to wait like the new recruits" She seemed a little different then she normally would, her normally happy demeanour had been turned to something else. "Also Candon, sorry for being informal, but I would like to talk to you after this in the Med Lab's, I may have something interesting for you but I would like someone's view on it."

She looked back to the scrap happening in the Wardroom, she saw nothing she could until one broke away but she smiled to Tsuguka "Hey my mother left a gift for you, it is something special, since I am a medic I wouldn't be able to use it that well but I am unsure if you want it, I will present it later to you as well, when we have some alone time." She closed her eyes and giggled "Ah finally that stuff is wearing off, note to self when to drink energy drinks, when I haven't had sleep for a long time, when not to, when I just woke up."

She turned back to the fight happening and grinned "Two against one is unfair, lets make it Two against two" Taharial smiled as she jumped into the air and dive bombed into the skirmish, as she grappled with the one in a thigh hold, her slender body had disguised her real strength as she giggled "I don't think you will be escaping right now."

Wardroom

At first Wazu was wondering if he was imposing too much on Jax, after all he could do that work himself. Then he found himself wondering if it was impolite to watch the nekos wrapping around one another in the wardroom.

He would keep his distance from the brawl, and move towards the intelligence officer's table,

"Are you a betting man Candon?"

"Err... yes, actually. I think I still need a cabin assigned, ma'am", Sigurd replied. What a mundane thing to ask for after the whole mind backup thing...

"Oh, well" she accessed the computer. "We have space in cabins 2 and 3 as well as the hab module. The cabins you would be sharing with either Tsugaku in 2 or Howard in cabin 3" Natsumi stated.

"I figure you would be more comfortable rooming with another male. So we will put you in cabin 3" she said and made the note in the system, updating the cabin assignment.

Natsumi pushed away from where she was leaning against the wall.. "If there is nothing else?" she asked, ready to get about her other duties.
