Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora waited behind her cover, grateful for the active camouflage shielding; as well as, some physical cover but she knew that if the enemies teleported behind her- she'd have to pray that she could get out of the way.

The situation seemed rather bleak as she felt the explosions out in the corridor rather then hearing them thanks to the ship's soundproofing. She frowned inside of her Daisy and maintained her radio silence as she marveled at how much this waiting thing well... sucked.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Seeing Dingus busy, Kai knew he could now find Shut more easily. Where IS that piece of crap? The blonde Yamataian thought, Sending his drones to either side of the Uriko in search of the hidden enemy. The thought of such a dangerous enemy going undetected scared him a little, and he had an odd feeling as if it knew where he was, and he was just a sitting duck. Dingus could be left to the other three, but Shut was his problem more than anything. he turned arount, back tot the Uriko, holding his shield to one side, his rifle to the other, ready and waiting for any sign of the black power armor.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Masako could only curse as the remaining Alphas disappeared from view. "Flanking?," she questioned as she turned her body to face the new threat behind them. "Behind," she sent to her team as she leveled both Gauss Cannon and Aether Rifle at Alpha 3.

Instinctively, she unleashed three rounds from her cannon and a burst from her Aether Rifle.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Suddenly the mindies appeared in the screen of Yoroko's rear drone,

Masako said:

Yoroko spun around and leveled her cannons at Alpha 04 and had her AIES calculate and fire the best single round shots it could from the cannons.

As Yoroko did this she raised her beam rifle at Alpha 3, and shot the rifle toward the right side of Alpha 03's chest, attempting to box it in between her beam and Masako's barrage.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Serizawa was waiting at his position at the ambush point when the two enemy Mindies suddenly appeared in front of him. For a second, he was about to wait for orders to fire but when Masako and Yoroko opened fire, the scientist quickly came to his senses, aiming the muzzle of his positron rifle at Alpha 04 and opened fire on it.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton smiled wickedly at the enemy Mindies. You've used up teleportation card. You're asses are ours now! he thought quickly to himself before he sent out a message to his team.

ATTENTION: Auxiliary Team spread out and pair off on your targets! Watch your fire, don't hit friendlies and try not to blow us all up!

An image with their intended targets also accompanied the message. Since Ichi had already fired on Alpha 04 Nyton designated Takuma to also fire at Alpha 04 while he and Sato fired at Alpha 03. In a quick motion Nyton let off two missles and set the AIES guide them past the enemy to detonate just behind them while leaping up to a tight crouch on the ceiling while firing his positron rifle at Alpha 03.

The doors to the medbay opened slowly. However nothing entered. It just remained open for a few seconds before a drone flew in and began to scan the surroundings for signs of activity.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora froze as the drone flew in. She weighed her options all of which were bad. She didn't have a jamming capability like the Mindy 1H had and projecting an illusion of a damaged armor or neko would only draw more attention and taking out the drone would only confirm that they were in there.

She inwardly cursed as she decided to take aim at the drone and fired, This thing is going to find us but better that they come in here blind.

Queen 2, prepare for incoming fire.

ATTENTION: ALL TEAMS- Support is compromised.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sanjuro stiffened like a plank when the drone made its appearance. Were Sora not a much quicker shot, Sanjuro himself would've released a stream of plasma at the small mechanical enemy...but in the state he was in, probably would've missed the mark a few times.

Sanjuro only nodded as he received Sora's short message, and hastily glanced at his surrounding to make sure everything else was, for the moment, safe.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Alright! Lets get this started," Takuma said to himself. He looked around and spotted Alpha 04. The technician leveled his plasma rifle and fired towards the center of the the armor. He decided to save his missiles for a more drastic situation. The thought that not using them would cause this situation crossed his mined, but he ignored that idea.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The barrage laid onto Alpha 03 and 04 lit up the corridor.

But not before Knight One -- Masako -- was run through.

The moment the blade of Alpha 03's rifle pierced K1's armor, it was faced with three gauss cannon shots that ripped into the enemy's head, decapitating it. Masako was extremely lucky -- her armor was run through parallel to her stomach, incinerating a good chunk of it, but leaving her alive.

Her aether shot found the wasted enemy, but then another aether shot hit it, then two bright blue bolts from positron rifles. Alpha 03 was knocked away from K1, then blasted back into her by Nyton's missile. Masako found herself on the ground, covered by the wrecked black armor, Class-A damage to her front torso armor, and completely unable to move, as half of her belly was, well, missing.

Tom was much luckier; the hail of fire successfully removed Alpha 04 from the immediacy of the battle, though as it slumped against the wall that ran outside the science lab, the AIES of all the armors indicated it was still alive. Tom's only damage -- Class D, left side -- was from Nyton's missile, which hit the wall near Rook One instead of Alpha 04.

Of course now, Tom wasn't the problem, as a clock appeared on all the armors nearby. It read 50 seconds.

That was how long Kurohoshi had before she was dead.

Yukari held position, without fail, though with much anger and frustration. They were going for the medical lab first, but if they abandoned the bridge, all could be lost instantly.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Too slow.

Tom had been too slow to respond to Masako's command, caught in the process of turning around before explosions and energy lit the corridor.

When the blinding flashes of light faded, he found himself pushed a bit to the side, his armor flashing light damage from Nyton's missiles.

Rattled, but not shaken, the Yamataian clenched his teeth, and fired shot after shot of plasma into the slumped armor resting against the wall. The timer ticked, a horrible gnawing distraction to the Yamataian, who found himself in command of the now two-person assault squad.

First, a general message to the rest of the teams, as he seemed to be first to react to the sickening sight of Masako's mangled form. "Knight one down! Requesting someone to get her out of here!

He then drew his attention to Yoroko. "KNIGHT THREE, work with me to cover the extraction! Help provide a visual network of the surrounding area to prevent the enemy taking advantage of the shock!"

Tom sent out his tactical drones to scout down the right hall as he continued firing at his opponent.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Understood." Yoroko replied as she ordered her drones to spread out and form a visual network while linking them with Tom's AIES as well. Yoroko looked at the countdown timer on her screen, invisibly shaking in her Mindy.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Shit!

That was the only curse Nyton allowed since there was no time to focus on the mistake he had made. He immediately sent a message to his team and to Fire Team 1.

Queen 3 stabilize Knight 1! Rook 2 assist him in moving Knight 1 to the medlab nearby. No time to move her to Support Team's position, we'll use the Miharu's Medlab. Bishop 2 help me keep him covered.

Nyton then flew over to Kurohoshi's prone form and kicked Alpha 03 off of her. Taking a defensive position next to her he added coordinated fire from his rifle at Alpha 04.

The drone burst into shrapnel as it was hit by Sora's fire. No sooner was it destroyed then fire erupted from the doorway and began to rake across the medical lab. Sora and Sanjuro's cover absorbed the shots but it would soon be destroyed as the enemy began to press their assault. One enemy Mindy began to enter the bay and swung to the right while it maintained a constant barrage. Another Mindy quickly forced it's way in left to try and box them in.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora had no idea of what she could do to make her situation any better as she dropped to the floor of the med bay, trying to stay under the barrage of enemy fire as she decided to make her way towards the door.

Shit. This is just getting more and more screwed. I can't deploy my pods under this without giving away my position and I don't want to give Sanjuro away either.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora wouldn't have to worry about that for long, however. As soon as the enemy began firing upon them, Sanjuro crouched but remained stable enough to return fire with his weapon...although in his current state it was doubtful that he would've gotten lucky with any of the blasts. As the last of his cover was blown away, the addled Medical Officer attempted to dive behind another object, not able to find the time to speak or even think.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Takuma sent an acknowledgment message to Nyton and took aim at the downed Alpha 04. This guy is receiving fire from all of us. I'd say it's safe to save some ammo. Bishop Two scanned the hallway and sent his drones to scout the area with Yoroko's.

The technician noted the timer on his HUD. It's strange. A few lights arranged in a pattern that normally means little now means life or death. It seems the little things can make all the difference in the world.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko remained in her sentry position on the wall, waiting. She was Not Very Happy, but that was pretty much her base state of being. Being in a power armor simulation was bad enough, but that it didn't have the decency to kill her quickly and get it over with was just adding insult to injury. While sitting in one place and doing nothing was generally a hobby of hers, it just wasn't as fun when there wasn't a book or fluffy bed involved and there was a looming threat of her simulated demise.

Knowing that her comrades were out there getting shot at... well, in reality it would have bothered her, but she could totally let that slide in a sim without feeling guilty. Especially when she was under direct orders to stay in one place--nobody could even complain that she'd failed to take action. Still.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari saw the message, the shouting over the comm, and Masako's "death clock" ... and smashed a fist into the wall she was plastered against.

"Pawn Two, let us go!" Yukari shouted, opening her door. "Flank them! Focus on causing damage; do not snipe! We must help the Juni!" With that, Yukari dashed down her side of the corridor, hoping her extra stealth coating would leave her facing the backside of one of the unsuspecting armors.

* * *

As the clock on Masako's "life" was running down, Sora's team was under fire, Fire Team 2 was iimasen, Tom was scrambling to do something, Nyton was kicking and shooting, and Miyoko was contemplating why she wasn't allowed to go peacefully into the simulated night ...

Kotori had a problem.

It came in the form of a Type 28C NSP pointed at her. Specifically, the laser was pointed at her head, and the fire switch was set to "heavy." The order that came from the energy pistol's barrel: "Surrender the Meng Po or die."

Someone was taking the simulation about as seriously as one could, in sharp contrast to most of the others. That person had left the simulation completely, stalked their way to the bridge and performed a beautiful roll that left them paused in the perfect kneeling position, strong arm braced against thigh for a steady shot.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Gasps followed from the other sprites on the bridge. Kotori in turn froze and gave the person pointing the gun at her head a withering glare to the side before she hissed out a name in recognition: "Nimura."

Miu and Sanri both half-jumped from their seats in mixed outrage and alarm - that one of their own would pull a gun on their commanding officer was unthinkable! - but Kotori lifted one hand to warn them to be still.

Nimura's aim did not waver, her gun still leveled at Kotori. With the 'Heavy' setting on, Kotori knew that even if she tried to dodge, the blast radius would likely kill her. Nimura had effectively left her no way out except the activation of Miharu's forcefields in the bridge. With the field up, however, Nimura's shot would not only be stopped short of Kotori, but would likely blow up in her face.

Kotori did not enjoy having a gun pointed at her while she was helpless - Nimura was taking it too far. It reminded her too much of her time on the Black Swan. She gave Miharu the order to generate a forcefield between the sprite and herself ...and nothing happened. Nimura still silently held Kotori's gaze.

Nimura had covered her bases.

Cold dread would normally have claimed Kotori, but she knew she had a way out - Nimura's demands had been clear. While Kotori wanted very much to keep angry at the sprite, understanding blossomed in her mind and she finally gave Nimura a little nod.

* * *

The simulation suddenly paused. HUD displays of the simulated suits grayed and a text window appeared.

MISSION SUCCESS
SS Meng Po and all attached assets have declared their unconditional surrender.

All involved personnel are to report to the wardroom for debriefing.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora blinked, What the hell? Mission success? That felt like we really lost. She frowned within her simulator suit as she started to disengage herself from the stopped simulation.
