Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari said nothing more. Kotori, by that point, was agreeing with her; she did not wish to give the crew that, however, and she respected the decision for now.

Though she found Kotori was acting like a arrogant child, she would talk to her later. She was treating her crew like fools, instead of comrades, and they would all die under that model.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

'Spirit of it' my ass... Asher thought as he leaned back in his chair, annoyed greatly by the current situation. The Taisa simply didn't see it like he did. The Hei viewed it as a mission to defend the Miharu, so he went to that, and he fought. True, he wouldn't have been clever enough to hop out his sim and do what Nimura did, but he wasn't such an insubordinate either.

The Hei shifted uncomfortably as he reflected on the subject more, wishing to stay out of the current discussion. He thought on more, about why this was seen as a 'victory'. Victory to Asher usually ended with some dead people some other third-party effect contributing to it. This, however, just seemed like forfeiting. If anything, to Asher, they had lost in spades.

Though, this didn't keep him from trying to figure out the Taisa's view of it. Still, when he thought about it, it didn't make sense to him. They were supposed to learn something, and yet he felt he learned nothing other than the pain of getting his foot shot off.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The moral complications of this war were slowly becoming more obvious as the discussion slipped further from the point. Everyone would have to be settled with such matters if they were to be expected to fight with true determination. Yukari appeared to still be struggling with that and her own internal turmoil was being projected to everyone else whether they felt that way or not. So far he had not heard anything of the sort during this debrief except from her.

The more Nyton listened to Asher though, the more it sounded like he was just sore about not getting to kill enough opponents during the sim. It reminded him of a spoiled child who didn't get all the candy he wanted. Not the demeanor of a budding team leader, that's for sure. Whether he was even trying to understand things from a different point of Nyton was not even certain. His enthusiasm and spirit though were certainly commendable though. If properly directed Asher would be highly effective.

Nyton then leaned foreward a bit and drew in his thinking posture.

"As complicated as it seems we can essentially narrow things down into three factions and their beliefs. The Daughters of Eve believe that they are fighting for the freedom of their race from the tyranny of the Empire. They have worked alongside the SMX but are not truly a part of them. The methods they have used cannot be considered 'moral' nor would their leader be. We know that Eve is perhaps a most despicable character and whatever her motivation may be, she is anything less than ideal. As such they cannot claim any high ground no matter what their goal may be.

Next we have the SMX. They have been the Empire's enemy for years now. It is only until recently that we have realized that they were in fact created by the Empire and are actually a race of nekovalkyrja. The only problem is that they are under the control of the Dark Ones, a race of beings that are quite sinister if the culture they have created for the Mishhu to live under is what they desire for all of us. Yet they began because they were fighting for what they considered their own freedom from the Empire since they were being used as test subjects to be experimental weapons.

Finally we have us, the Empire. Forged by the blood of enemy and ally alike. Secretly built on the backs of slaves. The Empire created a status quo and in order to defend it we fight all who threaten it. For a majority of it's citizens though, they are fairly innocent since they have not been made aware of just what was done to cause this war, both with the SMX and the Black Spiral insurrection. What's done is done though, and morality has been tossed out the window long ago. Especially if we are told to believe that Yamataians are gods. Only a god is able to determine what is truly 'right' and 'wrong.' With thinking like that behind the Empire it is no wonder we have the situation we are in today."

Nyton then sat back and tensed a bit. Personally I can't believe you would quote something like that, Kotori. Especially when I find it hard to buy that the Emperor has had no knowledge of any of these things. I will have to discuss things with you again Kotori. I just hope I can make the opportunity for that happen. he thought while trying to keep these thoughts buried as deeply as possible by running his memory unit with all manner of tactical data trains.

"I believe in achieving victory as well. And victory is almost always won by exploiting advantage. However we must also win a victory that we are able to live with. We should at least be able to settle on that." Nyton concluded.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori made a weary nod. "In any case, the simulation is concluded - for better or for ill. I am sure your tactical officer and wing leader can discuss the little that happened an the outcome at length if you wish for further discussion on this level. However, we had other things planned after the simulation and this included familiarization with the medical equipment, ST backups, crew medical examinations as needed, some repairs our chief engineer wanted done, getting yourselves settled in if you wish and dinner."

The Taisa turned and walked away. "I will be in my quarters if anyone needs me."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora sat listening to the briefing with a contemplative look. She had agreed that there was really no way that she felt that they could've won that scenario being on the defensive, the waiting for death to come hadn't faired well for her and Sanjuro.

She nodded politely to the departing Kotori. She then looked to the tacticians for their review of their actions during the short lived simulation. War will never be kind. It will never be pretty or fair, that is what war is- chaos and death. She thought grimly to herself as she folded her arms across her chest.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton stood and gave a slight bow as Kotori departed. You can count on a visit then, Nike. he thought, invoking the name of an ancient goddess of victory.

Walking over to Yukari he then nodded to her. "Shosa, do we want to go further in depth on everyone's performance? I think everyone has had a long enough day as it is. Maybe it would be best to just let everyone get their ST's done, settle in and unwind. Your orders?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

It took a moment for Yukari to reply. "Yes, the Taisa was clear." She stood. "All are dismissed to their necessary duties. All of the power armor crew must receive Soul Transfer backups by dinner tonight."

She gave a small bow.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora rose from her seat and pushed some loose strands of hair back behind her ear. She turned her head to look at Serizawa with a soft, thoughtful smile. "Looks like it's time to get some work done, ichi-kun" she said softly to Serizawa with a wink, as she turned and walked towards the door.

She paused and glanced back over her shoulder at Sanjuro, her bright green eyes appraising her new co-worker for a moment, "Ashitaka-Hei, I'm going to head towards the main medical bay to get ready for the crew physicals and our ST back-ups. If we can get all three of us together, this can go more smoothly and quickly.

But if you like doing it the hard way, I understand completely. Sometimes it's more comfortable to do it all by yourself when it's what your used to." She smiled brightly at the very quiet man before disappearing at the door with a sway of her long red hair.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yoroko sat in the chair for a brief moment after the debriefing had been completed, reflecting on the conversation that had occurred during the debriefing as well as her own internal conflict. Truthfully she was still a little upset with the new information she had discovered, but at the same time she was just starting to come off of a pleasure high, from all of the 'combat' she had just experienced her mindy had made her feel really good a couple of times. Why does it feel so good? Killing them? Yoroko asked herself silently. I wonder what was up with Asher-san, he seemed so....different, not only his way of talking either.

"Asher-san, you seem kinda tense. Would you like to work it out with me in a sparring match later tonight? Assuming it's okay with Ketsuri-Taisa that is..." Yoroko sent to Asher as she stood. "Well," Yoroko said out loud, "I guess I might as well have my ST backup done now, no sense in waiting."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kai just sat, a fairly blank expression on his face as he absorbed it all, a bit confused. Hearing Yoroko talk about ST backups, the blonde snapped out of it, looking up at her and saying "That sounds like a good idea, i'll go with you."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton gave a bow in return. "Suzuka-san, I'm going to take this chance to speak to Kotori. I can wait on an ST and there isn't anything especially pressing on my agenda right now." he said before he left the wardroom.

Nyton advanced slowly towards Kotori's quarters in order to gather his thoughts. He wanted to be sure his mind was clear and focused. The analysis of the sim battle had left him somewhat unbalanced. He realized that he had let himself get caged in and had therefore allowed their enemy to advance almost unimpeded. By the time Nyton was standing at the door his mind was settled and he chimed to let Kotori know someone was waiting.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The door had an automatic lock release which partly opened it. Kotori was sitting on her couch and was bent forward as she hands worked to unfasten one of the knifesheaths strapped to her leg. Her gunbelt was already resting on the cushion to her right along with the two pistol holsters.

"Yes Nyton?" Kotori asked as she undid the first strap.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko flopped back on the chair and relaxed, at ease for the first time since the briefing before the simulation. As nobody was on the bridge, she didn't know that she had necessary duties at the moment. This meant free time, that rarest of resources.

Suzuka-shosa, she telepathically addressed the XO, sitting up to meet her eyes, Could I have a few minutes when you're available?

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sanjuro immediately shot up as Sora turned to address him, and gave her a short yet deep bow of acknowledgment as she finished her statements. Sanjuro was happy to hear that he would finally be able to go see the medical facilities aboard the Miharu, and greatly anticipated bringing them up to speed in his own, special way. Before he could leave, however, Sanjuro remembered what he was sticking around there for in the first place...

As Sora left the room, the tall Yamataian continued to stand and turned to Miyoko, and leaned into yet another bow. Sanjuro certainly seemed to like bowing.

"Pardon, Saito-Hei," he spoke flatly. "I would to ask you a few things, about your experience working on the Miharu. We can talk here or you can follow me to the medical facility."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari looked at Miyoko, but she was clearly worn somehow -- a sign of some mental exhaustion that had set in fast. But she smiled anyway.

"Yes, Saito-Hei? Is there something I can do for you?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Asher gave Yoroko a slight smile as she sent her message to him. He stood up with her and stretched, "I agree, I think I'll come along."

"I'd appreciate that, I wouldn't mind getting a little bit of this 'unused fight' out of me." Asher replied to her. "But you sure about that, I'm no the most 'honorable' fighter, you know. I'm a little rough when it comes to one on on."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Well, you did request to speak to me face to face about the Taisa... Miyoko trailed off as Sanjuro addressed her. Though it seems I may be occupied for a while, so if you have better things to do than stand around waiting on me, it can certainly wait.

"Here should be fine, unless you want me to give you a tour of the facilities." Miyoko turned to speak to Sanjuro, returning his bow while remaining seated. "What would you like to know?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari nodded. "Reach me on my communicator, to be safe. I have sent an encryption key to yours for you to use."

She stood from her chair and looked at Tom next to her. "May I walk you to your station, Juni-san?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

As soon as the debriefing was over, Tom was moving.

"Nimura, you're with me down in the subdeck. Ichigo, please monitor activities from a console. We'll be tinkering a lot with the engines and I need you to be ready to input commands as need be."

He pointed to the two sprites, motioning them to follow him.

"We've got a lot of work to do before dinner, and I don't want the crew eating cold meat because I didn't have enough time to prepare something nice for the new arrivals. Speaking of the new arrivals..."

The Yamataian sent a message through his datapad to Sato and Takuma.

Yukari's beautiful voice came to his ears moments into his walk to the subdeck.

"Of course, ma'am, I would like nothing more," he said innocently, although it didn't take Yukari much to notice that he was undressing her with his eyes. "Do you have any special post-dinner plans?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton stood outside the door with his hands held loosely behind his back as he shifted himself to stand at ease. "I had a few things I wished to discuss, Kotori-sama. I see you are in the middle of a something yourself though. Can I be of assistance?" he offered.
