Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"okay" Kai answered as Asher turned away. The Yamataian began his way down the hall towards the Med bay to get ST'd when Yuril walked by "Oh, Hey, Yuril-chan, Why don't you come with us, we're gonna get our ST backups then find something fun to do before Dinner" He smiled at the Silver-haired Neko as he said this.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"True and while I am concerned that this may cause them to fear the enemy, I am more concerned that they may also become afraid of you." Nyton replied with a hint of disapproval in his voice. "Granted that doesn't stop some Taishos from becoming successful. Nor do you need the crew to be falling at your feet in love with you."

Nyton shifted slightly before he went on, this time with more patience to his voice than the disapproval he had shown before. "These soldiers aren't killers like us. From the day they were born our enemy was foreign; something alien and easy to hate. Now they find out in one day that we created our own enemy and that they are in essence fellow neko who are fighting for a cause they believe to be true. Now it's all different. We are not fighting aliens but ourselves and I keep noticing how much that bothers everyone."

With a slight sigh, Nyton crossed his arms and looked into Kotori's eyes. "Nekovalkyrja are not like Nepleslians. You have not been killing each other for millennia. Its not part of your culture like it has been in ours. Those Neko who do enjoy it tend to be considered the anomaly. The uncommon. The eyes that still wear the pink tinted lenses may become afraid of someone like that. After all, it is a human trait we all seem to share, fear of that which is not like us."

After a few seconds he shifted his gaze over at Kotori's knives. "Having killed other humans myself it gives me the insight to know when someone has killed their own kind. Not Mishhu but Nekos you knew were Nekos when you did so. It has an effect on people and how the world sees you. I worry this may cause too much of a rift among the crew. If that happens then they may doubt themselves as well as the mission. While I do not pretend that we carry any higher moral ground, they will have to find a way to feel comfortable enough with their actions." Nyton said with a calm and straightforward demeanor.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Once Nyton finished, she then joined both hands over her lap and looked down at them, sighing a little. After a moment's silence, she patted the couch on the free cushion besides where she was sitting in a silent invitation for him to join her.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari managed a wincing smile as she covered her eyes. "Yes, I have heard that!" Her weak attempt at a joke. "I shall get started on the steak soon then, so the crew will be able to enjoy it, too. Do not work too hard, Juni-san."

She gave him a rather awkward wink, a big smile, then walked back away to the main corridor.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora got the med bay ready for the work that would be needed to be done soon. She watched the movement of her multi-function bracelet as her hands moved and smiled. It was a nice reminder of her friends that were out there working on the Asamoya. She wondered idly ho her Aunt Hanako was doing.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton looked at Kotori and hesitated for a second. He wondered if he had perhaps offended her or overstepped his bounds. He dismissed the thought and sat down where she directed.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori observed Nyton as he made himself comfortable and then gave him a slight smile. "I guess the line between yearning for obedience and yearning for respect is rather subtle." A chuckle escaped her. "Am I trying to control my crew too much? I don't necessarily want things to go that way... I really just want for them to do well. If they do well, we can win. Yamatai badly needs victories, Nyton."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sanjuro retrieved his datapad from his pocket as he strode over to meet the the former medical officer of the ship, stopping a few feet away from her as he silently thumbed his equipment. Most of the others had already left when Sanjuro finally finished tapping away at the small piece of equipment. The Yamataian was quite a bit taller than Miyoki, but didn't seem to acknowledge it as he gazed up (or rather, down) at her. He spoke in the same droll tone, with the same blank, stoney stare as he took a deep breath... and began.

"Saito-Hei, I am to understand prior to my arrival you served as the acting medical officer aboard this ship. As per standards to my training at Central Uesureya and the Kyoto College programs, I would like to know the procedures and methods you used when you treated the Neko's and Yamataians aboard the Miharu. Be as detailed as possible as I am using this information, not to berate or criticize your techniques seeing as you are, in fact, not a trained professional doctor, but rather to assess what the crew has and has not experienced in their treatments as well as the extent of your own knowledge of procedures.

Also, it would be good if you were to explain to me why Ketsurui-Taisa has not received a Soul Transfer back-up. I've looked through all of the datalogs and information the Miharu allowed me to access, and I cannot seem to find the reason why you have not taken the Taisa's backup and placed it in safe-keeping. I believe this is included in even the most basic Star Army of Yamatai MO manuals...and I see that you have taken everyone elses. Did you forget, or something?

Oh, and I would also like to know beforehand what method of sorting you used for the pharmaceuticals and equipment in the medical facilities. I expect that you, like many others, use the same standard alphabetical order procedure in pharmaceutical storage. I would like to point out that this method of placement is highly inadequate, and I am going to change it...placing pharmaceuticals in order by purpose is much more effective, especially with the new updated medical procedures the SAoY officials placed in the YE30 MO manual...which I'm sure you've already read prior to returning. I will be doing a lot of reworking because of this. I hope you don't mind."

Sanjuro finished by continuing to stare back down at Miyoko, silently awaiting answers to his flurry of questions. Sanjuro didn't mean to sound overbearing and haughty with his inquiries, however...he just simply preferred answers to most common communication niceties...like pausing between questions. Or leaving space enough for the questioned individual to breath.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko took a deep breath as she prepared to answer. She'd taken tests in her nurse training that had seemed more forgiving than that battery of questions... and there was no way that she was going to allow herself to come off as inept to the new medical staff. A challenge was in the air, and it was time for her rebuttal.

The sensor specialist crossed her arms and began clinically rattling off her response. "The crew physicals were basic screenings meant solely to confirm that they were in good enough condition for short-term active duty. I didn't know the proper procedure for a full physical at the time, so I only tested for things that would be immediate problems. Most of them had also recently had full checkups upon enlisting or on their prior assignment, so there was little need for further examination. I took everybody's vitals as well as palpatating and ausculating their abdomens, checking their eyes, and questioning them to determine if there were any other possible problems and judge their mental health. I'll make the results available to you if you would like.

The medical supplies are mostly still in the original positions they were when I found them--I haven't gotten an opportunity to do a full inventory of them yet, so any organization isn't my own. What few supplies I did use may have been returned to the wrong locations; I apologize if this is an inconvenience to you.

As for the Taisa's lack of a backup," Miyoko continued coolly, "you will need to talk to Suzuka-shosa if you want to know the reason. I'm not permitted to discuss it. Until otherwise notified, she will not be getting any new backups." She stopped, holding his gaze with just a hint of a smirk playing over her lips. I can play this game too. Of course, her system was kicking into fight-or-flight mode--just because she could respond to the unspoken challenge didn't mean she was calm about it.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

As Yukari approached the main corridor, she routed her telepathic communication through it, Hoshi's CIES, and to Miyoko's communicator.

"Saito-Hei, are you available? We should use the free time we have now to our advantage."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Alone in the subdeck with the two sprites, Tom began his task.

"Ok, everyone, we're putting on enviornmental suits and getting down to business. First, we're going to examine the capacitor cells to make sure that they're fully functioning and able to store energy at 100% efficiency. Ichigo, disable left-side capacitors and reduce Aetheric energy output to 40%. Redirect energy to right-side capacitors and ensure that Miharu is within acceptable operational status."

The move would reduce Miharu's total energy storage to approximately 50%, which would drastically affect operation of the cannons and shields should they be pushed beyond standard operation. A negative energy flow would be the result. This information was sent to Kotori's communicator.

Taisa,

We've begun operations in the subdeck. Expect discrepancies in energy efficiency. Details are attached below. Please avoid stressing Miharu's systems while we operate. Expected duration of procedure: 1 hour for both sides given current manpower.

I'll try to make this as painless as possible.

-Freeman-Juni

"Ok, you both know what we're doing and the potential consequences of dawdling. Let's get to work."

The Yamataian quickly put on an environmental suit and grabbed a toolkit from the storage area. After Nimura got herself ready, he motioned for her to enter the crawlspace first.

"You take the far end and work back towards me."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The neko smiled easily at her friend from Fort Ready.
"Sure, I'm a little nervous getting one done to be honest. First time jitters I think is what it's commonly called, ne Kai-kun?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"I believe you're right, Yuril-Chan. This would be.. My second one, I believe, the first was when I transferred from Geshrin to Yamataian. Still, it may be different with new experiences" Kai said, a jokingly sage look on his face. Giving her a smile he walked closer to her so they could talk better.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Halfway through Miyoko's replies, Sanjuro looked back down at his datapad and he pawed at it idly, documenting her replies among other things. Some of her answers he expected...others, like the reason why Kotori didn't have an ST backup, and Miyoko's lack of knowledge about standard physicals procedure left him quite confused...and a little annoyed. He did a great job of hiding this, however, behind his usual blank expression blanketed across his visage.

"Hmm. You are right, most of the recent physicals are incomplete," Sanjuro spoke again as he looked back at Miyoko. "It's not an inconvenience, but-" Sanjuro cut himself short, however, when he noticed the Neko's tiny smirk forming across her face. The medical officer looked at it for a moment, then slowly turned his head around to see if, perhaps, she was smirking at something humorous behind him. Sanjuro, of course, didn't find anything...when he was sure, he turned back to her, eyes narrowed slightly and a look of wry disapproval strewn across his face.

"This is a serious matter, Saito-Hei. You were the acting medical officer aboard this vessel, yet you did not know many of the proper procedures. I was informed that you might be acting as an assistant to Ketsurui-Kohosei and myself. There are many people on this ship, and some day we might have too many to handle by ourselves. If this happens, I want to make sure that you know what you need to do, and you cannot make mistakes."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"The line between polar opposites can be a lot thinner than we realize." Nyton replied with a smile of his own. "And I have kept myself abreast on the status of the war among many things." he then said before he folded his arms.

"Just don't over reach right now. Let everyone take it in a little at a time. You have the support of Yukari and myself to help this sink in. Let everyone settle in and resolve themselves to the mission. If they haven't by then we should at least know and can help see them out the door." he said calmly.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko held the Heisho's gaze, refusing to back down. "I was the acting medical officer out of necessity. Despite the fact that I had very little formal training in the field, I was still the closest thing to a medic on the ship. At the end of the last mission, I advised the Taisa to take on more medical personnel because somebody was going to die if I was the only medic available. I received some formal training in the break between missions, but I'm still not qualified to do anything but be an assistant. As long as I'm not expected to do things that I have no training in, I forsee no problems."

Her annoyance had turned into outright ire, but she did her best to keep her response from sounding angry. It isn't like I volunteered to be the only medic on the ship at the time.

I'll be with you shortly, Miyoko returned to Yukari, through similar routing. Ashitaka-heisho has waylaid me with a... discussion of my abilities.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The doors to the medical bay opened up to allow Serizawa to enter the room. He had just arrived from the wardroom. Serizawa hadn't originally planned to stop in at first. The first plan was to get a brief introduction of his new station from the ship's other science specialist but that thought was squashed when Miyoko and Sanjuro entered into a somewhat spirited discussion. The scientist wanted no part of that trouble so he steered himself clear of the two and, upon entering the medbay, found the next target on his list, Sora.

Tapping the Miharu's medical officer on the shoulder, the red-haired man spoke, "Hey, Sora-chan, you need any help with the ST backups? If so, I'll stick around until they're done. I will be having to get myself set at my new post and I'd like to get that done as soon as possible."

Serizawa pondered if he should ask her about the duties, if any, he would have to carry out in the medbay. The greenshirt thought it better not to put any more on Sora's plate. No doubt she was going to be quite busy adapting to her new position. The last thing he wanted to do was to put her under anymore stress.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Ichi-kun, when have I ever refused you assistance in any matter?" Sora asked brightly with a smile. She wrapped her arms around her lover and gave him a warm, loving hug before lightly kissing him on the lips for a moment. She had wanted to feel the reassurance of her lover's warmth after that horrible simulation to remind her that it was just a simulation, that they were still very much alive and unharmed.

"We have a great deal of back-ups to make and I believe all of the new crew need to get updated on their physicals. Once Ashitaka-Heisho joins us here, I was hoping we could split the physicals between myself and him; and then, have you and Miyoko-san, if she choses to assist us, do the ST back-ups," the young medical officer smiled brightly. "Things will go much faster with so many hands helping."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sanjuro wasn't too sure he liked that kind of attitude. He had always taken whatever measures possible to know every facet about his job, and always kept himself updated. It was all he really ever knew, after all...being good at his job was his only hobby.

"I understand that this was not your original proffession aboard this ship, but you did have seven weeks before you had to return here. You could've learned more than enough to pass qualifications for the assistant position. Even during the time I was not here, you should have been taking steps to further your knowledge in your field. Going over the old YE29 MO Manual would've shown you all of the techniques and procedures you would've needed to preform your duty with less risk to the crew. I'm certain there were times you were not busy, when you could've done this."

"Like the case with..." Sanjuro looked back down at his datapad, then back up. "..the sprite, Miss Mara. She was gravely injured during an attack, and you tended to her. I am glad to see she has survived, but if you were to have researched your procedures beforehand, you would have saved her a lot of pain."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Serizawa was caught a little off-guard when Sora suddenly kissed him. He could only wonder what he did to deserve such a display of affection, not realizing that the simulation had disturbed her so deeply. None the less, Serizawa took advantage of the brief time they had together, placing his hands on her hips and holding her curvy figure close to himself.

"I'm more than happy to lend my hands to you, m'love," he explained to her. "After all, we're not going to get to spend as much time together as we used to, especially time alone. Therefor, we'll just have to exploit every moment we have together. Like right now."

With that, Serizawa moved in and planted another kiss on Sora's smiling lips, wasting not even a second of the brief amount of solitude they had together.
