YE 45.1.1 - Afternoon
YSS Resurgence - Bridge
Aoba looked at Zanven, encouraging to him to state his wishes plainly. "So what do you want to do, then?" he asked the young pilot. It was obvious Zanvan wanted the captain's special permission for something.
Hearing the captain speak plainly Zanven looked at him and spoke up clearly. "Sir if I may speak plainly...the medevac gave me insight and i cannot stand to see our forces dishonored as such. I am requesting to take the fight to those that have caused us harm." He spoke clearly as he looked at the captain and waited for an answer.
he knew this would probably hurt Sakuko again, but this was something he felt compelled to at least ask.
"If you wish, I can assign you to temporary duty in the operation at Gashmere. You can take Jôtô Hei Hoshi Sanda with you, as she has made a similar request," Aoba replied to Zanven.
"Shall I be granted the use of the Keiko armor I brought to the ship, or shall I be joining the operation as a pilot sir?" Zanven replied as he had qualifications for both sides of duty, but he needed to know where his lines were once he left the ship.
"I'll give you a choice of either," Captain Aoba offered.
"Very well sir...since there are only two of us on the Resurgence that can use the armor currently...I will take it in addition to shuttling Sanda to the temporary assignment at Gashmere. Thank you for this opportunity, we will bring about a swift end to the operations with a successful outcome." He said as he looked around at the crew stationed on the bridge Then snapping his head back to the captain he spoke one last time. "When do we leave sir?" He asked as he still held that serious look and confidence from earlier.
"As soon as possible," the captain said. "You won't want to miss anything. Good luck and good hunting. Dismissed."
Zanven nodded and gave a salute. "Thank you sir!" He said before he excused himself from the bridge, heading back to the elevator as he needed to pack for his time away.
YSS Resurgence - Medical Lab
Nanook sat on the procedure table, flexing the hairless left arm attached to his torso. He was fascinated by the way the muscle groupings moved under his skin as he flailed his arm back in forth like a child with a new toy. He flexed his arm, rotated it, clenched his fist. Looking at his claws he wondered out loud, "Maybe I should paint those." In a life changing moment, he had an epiphany. "I CAN GET A TATTOO!"
"I've never seen a hairless Kodian before," Poppy commented, watching Nanook's bare arm. "Everything working okay," she asked as he tested it out.
Nanook looked at Poppy, "I have once, rare genetic disorder. Also results in a lack of sexual organs in Kodians. I think so, it just gets cold too easily."
"Remind me to set the hemosynthetics to grow his hair back, too." Chiasa quipped playfully, as she set to work on re-stocking the drug inventory. "Be careful leaving the medical bay, by the way. We want to keep it clean in here." The tiny Nekovalkyrja added with a coy wink, though she partially meant it. She didn't want to be stuck cleaning up a mess in the medical center again.
Nanook snuck a roll of gauze into his paw, removed the package, and threw it at the back of Chiasas' head as he ducked out of the hatch to the medbay. Blowing a rasberry as he did so.
Cheilith was there with a cast on her arm, "If he wants a tattoo, perhaps we should give him one."
"Technically, we could do-" Chiasa piped up, only just before Nanook's gauze struck her dead in the back of the head, her Nekovalkyrja senses proving inadequate for the task of anticipating or reacting to the thrown missile!
"Ahhh...I love Infantry antics." Chiasa giggled.
Sanda looked up from the bed she had been resting on. "Did someone say something about a tattoo?"
"Nanook mentioned them." Chiasa answered Sanda. "I was about to saying something about adding genetic tattoos, but the only issue is that it'd take a lot more than a laser to remove them." She added. "You know, there should be an option on the soul transfer respawn protocols to add the old body's tattoos genetically..." The tiny pharmacy specialist mused.
"Why would you want to remove a good tattoo?" Sanda said looking at her own tattoos running down her arms. She looked back up at Chiasa. "If ST's don't record your tattoos, don't bother respawning me. I wake up and look in the mirror and don't see this lighting bolt I'd freak out."
Chiasa frowned. She suddenly realized that an option for a new body to retain the old body's tattoos genetically was actually needed.
"I'm going to make a note on your ST record." Chiasa said, after a few processing cycles, which passed as little more than a split-second in real time. "In the mean time, may I take a quick scan of your body? I might be able to translate the tattoos to the hemosynth settings, in case it's needed."
"Is there any more fixing that needs to happen?" Poppy asked, looking around at everyone to make sure she hadn't missed anyone injured.
Sanda nodded to Chiasa. "Thank you. I don't plan on dying but you just never know do you?" Sanda shrugged then winced. "I think I'm stuck here for a while yet so might as well take advantage of it. I try to avoid the Med bay whenever possible." She glanced sideways at Poppy and whispered. "She's crazy." Smiling as she did so.
Chiasa offered a small, subtle smile towards Sanda, but otherwise said nothing. She wasn't in the business of talking about her direct co-workers right behind their backs. Nevertheless, Chiasa took a quick scan of Sanda's body. Already, the wheels were turning in the tiny Nekovalkyrja's digital mind pertaining to the steps she might need to carry out to translate the Ranger's tattoos genetically. It would be a problem for her to work on later that night.
"Done." Chiasa finished with a smile. "As I said before, if you do end up needing a new body, the tattoos likely won't come off with just a laser." She advised.
"Good." Sanda layed back down and closed her eyes a moment. She had to admit, it felt good to rest a little bit. Eyes still closed, she said. "Hey Chiasa. You did good out there today. Good fire discipline. Level head when Nanook was hit." She moved a little bit to get more comfortable on the bed. "Glad to call you my squad mate."
Chiasa's blush showed across her features in spite of their pinkish-tan color as she processed the Ranger's compliment. "I just did what I was made for." Chiasa said. "You did well too. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't arrived to cover me and Nanook." The tiny Nekovalkyja added. "I just wish we could get back at those bears." She frowned. "I know other units are handling the issue, but it doesn't feel good leaving a mission unfinished."
"No it doesn't." Sanda mumbled begging to fall asleep. "I should do somethi..."
Chiasa frowned as the Ranger seemed to doze off, but otherwise didn't panic after processing her vitals. At the very least, it reminded her that she could use a nap, as well. Combat was nothing if not exhausting, even for a Nekovalkyrja.
YSS Resurgence - Power Armor Bay
Kiyo looked at the newly repaired armor before her and smiled. "I did good!' she said with a proud smile on her face. "I hope Sanda likes what i did" she said as she pushed her thoughts from the negativity. Instead she focused on the positive, like she usually did. This time, she focused on Yayoi her poor sister, who was likely being tormented by Yuri.
Kiyo remembered how fast Luna was and how she'd have had to make sure she was secure in a safe area away from weapons. Yuri probably would be better off on Yamatai where she had air but the space would be a problem as she knew Yuri might want to explore her world.
She also knew that Luna, and Yuri trying to grab weapons would be a bad thing. But she didn't dwell on that instead she turned and walked out.
YSS Resurgence - Shuttle Bay
With nothing but nods of agreement while Koyama spoke, Mineko was ready to take her directions to heart and start on getting backed up. Before she did, though, a question pressed at the back of the analyst's mind into the forefront.
"Thank you for all that you have done. I can't wait to get into my quarters and learn all I can. Does this ship's MEGAMI have a name? It's not something I found when reading up on it," Mineko asked.
Thad wondered into the Shuttle Bay to find a place to relax. He then noticed that people had gathered there for some reason. "Oh, Hiya there. I wasn't expecting to find people in here."
As the man entered, Mineko recognized him from personnel files. Her red pupils set in blue darted from him back to the Shosa over a tight smile.
Koyama ignored Thad a moment to answer Mineko's question with a small smile, "You could of course ask her." Gesturing to the interior before allowing all pretense of friendliness drop while giving Thad a level stare.
"It's the shuttlebay, Thad. Of course people will be in here."
"Of course," Mineko said as her gaze drifted upwards, to the crevices and crannies of the bay and away from her crewmembers. "MEGAMI, Santo Hei Mineko here. How should I refer to you?"
"Megami is acceptable," the ship's AI answered.
"Thank you then, Megami!" Mineko nodded, wondering if most Star Army ships were nameless and the few mentions of named ship AI in the annals of Yamataian history were just outliers.
Kiyo entered the shuttle bay, thinking she'd wanted to check this place out before going to the Infirmary and took note of the people, and especially one large one. Oh my, did they want a friend for Nanook? that's nice of them! She couldnt help but think as she made her approach, and Mineko's words caught her interest. She eventually decided to move on.
Thad just chilled waiting for the crew to finish talking to the ship. It had taken him awhile to get use to interacting this way since on his homeworld this wasn't an option.
"And how is Mia and the baby?" Koyama tried in vain at small talk with the half-breed SOL.
"I'm pulling up the roster now..." Emiko knitted her brow and her eyes fell on Thad as the match pinged one of her infantrymen was present in the shuttle bay, talking to the first officer, and which infantryman that it happened to be. She scanned his file while standing by, silently and enormous, until Koyama finished addressing him.
"I'm going to head to the med bay to get that backup if anyone else is heading that way," Mineko said, ducking her head a bit as she made her way around those gathered. With a bow at the doorway to the bay and quiet words not meant to interrupt, she said, "Thanks again, Shosa!"
Thad looked towards Koyama. "Baby is doing great, starting to get into more trouble than me. Mia seems to be enjoying the life away from Star Army. How about you, how are things?"
When it seemed like Thad would be occupying Koyama in conversation, Emiko bowed, "Shōsa. I will report to the medical bay as well." Once more her gaze fell on Thad, "There will be an infantry contingent briefing after mess." Another bow, and Emiko's gigantic form loped after Mineko and Kiyo.
"The same as ever." Koyama replied as she nodded to the two new members of the Resurgence's crew. "Word of warning, Thad. The tall one is your new superior. So your best behavior." Granted his best behavior was as erratic as a Funky City sewer rat on Big K. Well intentioned or not.
"And I'm guessing by your opening remark on seeing us in here you wanted to be alone?"
Medical Lab
"Ohayo," Mineko bowed at the entrance to the med bay, having stowed her duffel in cabin five. "Santo Hei Mineko. I've been told to report for a backup!" With her reddish blue eyes she surveyed the many patients and medical personnel, then added, "But I can come back at a better time, of course."
"It's alright," Poppy said, washing her hands and then guiding Mineko to the Type 30 Mental Transfer and Backup Unit. "We'll get a baseline mind scan for you and also take some DNA samples in case we ever need to make you a new body."
Kiyo found her way in the Medical Lab as she wanted to check in on Sanda, and also to make sure she was backed up. Plus she wanted to get to know Mineko and talk to her too.
"Joto Heisho Poppy Pink?" Mineko asked with a double fanged smile that pushed at her eyes. she climbed onto the backup unit as she spoke, eyeing the patients as she lowered her voice. "I really can't wait to see you work! Not that I want to see any of the crew injured or on the brink of death, but it seems like you have a real knack for what you do!"
"I enjoy being able to help," Poppy said. "I prefer the support role," she added.
Zanven stopped the elevator at the floor with the med bay. He pulled his personal comm from his pocket and sent a message to Sakuko. "I for my mission, I need to talk, where do you want to meet up and when?" he pressed send before walking into the med bay to look for Sanda as that's where she was last heading
Once inside he took a look around for a few seconds till he saw Sanda, she was last seen heading this way from when he saw her in the Power Armor Bay. He walked up and leaned against the wall. "Feeling better?" His inquiry was short and sweet as he did not know the extent of her injuries in the first place.
Sanda opened her eyes and glanced over a Zanven before closing them again. She smirked. "Good enough to take you flyboy." She chuckled to herself then said, "So how are have you been? Got any new models?" Sanda remembered that Zanven was quite a collector of models.
A bit after Mineko, Kiyo, and Zanven arrived, Emiko's bulk darkened the light from the corridor outside, filling the entire door, as she ducked her head a bit entering the medical bay. She always ducked, even if she could fit, a hard-won habit. "Freyjasdóttir-Shōi, reporting." Emiko looked over the patients, tagging them with their identites in her grafted-on digital mind. She looked particularly long at the bear-with-no-hair.
Zanven chuckled at Sanda as he heard her reply and then as she closed her eyes again and rested she asked him about his models and he shook his head. "Havent had time since I've been gone training a lot with the Keiko armor...however I'm here because we got assignments to fill at Gashmere. Get some rest and call me when you are ready...we will get back the honor taken from us." He said before patting her shoulder and turning to leave. "Glad you are alive Sanda...let's make sure we both stay that way." He would say before taking his leave.
Chiasa's mouth formed an O-shape as a looming shadow darkened her surroundings, compelling the tiny Nekovalkyrja to turn around to face its source—a towering, silver-haired Amazon of a woman, who her digital mind identified as Emiko Freyjasdóttir.
"Freyjasdóttir-Shōi," Chiasa began with impeccable, precise pronunciation, though a short pause after betrayed her awe as the tiny Nekovalkyrja craned her neck to look up at her. "Right this way." She added, before leading the Amazon towards one of the mental backup alcoves. "I read your medical file. Let me know if you need any additional assistance with procuring your supplements or if something isn't right with them." The pharmacy specialist commented idly.
"Mm. So you have Advancer Technical manual on file?" She followed as directed, "You are the pharmacist? I have one month in the bag," Emiko gestured with the backpack, not much bigger than the size of a clutch purse in her hand.
"Yes, I did." Chiasa answered, as she gestured towards the free mental backup bed. She could only hope it was long enough. "I already have a prescription arranged."
"Good it is long enough, no?" Emiko laid down on the bed. It was long enough, but it was only just barely wide enough for her. "And I am trying to bulk up, so I have been taking 250g of powdered Durandium four times per day." She was eating a kilogram of structural alloy a day.
"Whatever you think she's going to need nutritionally, quadruple it." Mineko chirped from her bed as she looked over at Emiko and the pharmacist. "The manual doesn't do her appetite justice."
Chiasa blinked, briefly stopping herself from staring too long at the woman's athletic, muscular form. What is there left to bulk up? The thought passed unsaid, manifesting only as a nervous smile directed towards the new Analyst.
"I'll keep that in mind." Chiasa added with a suppressed giggle, which morphed into a faux clearance of her throat as she turned on the backup machine.
"Moltes gràcies," Emiko thanked Chiasa in her Mutari-Sardinian Nepleslian dialect before she started to go under. It took the sedatives a bit longer to act on her, but at the same time, Emiko should have been in terrible pain if still conscious that far into the ST procedure, yet seemed fine.
Sakuko came to Zanven and met him near the medical lab. "What's up Zan?" she asked him.
Sanda's eyes opened fully and she sat up a little bit. "Oh?" She smiled at Zanven. "Well now that is good news. We'll make those bastardos pay and restore honor to the Res. Someone
give me some clothes." She said as she tried to get out of bed. But she stopped short as the room began to spin. She lay back down. "Well we'll give them a sporting chance to run and hide before we get them."
Poppy sent an equipment request to Beryl, and then flashed it to Sanda. In the request form Sanda could see Poppy had asked the supply department for a brand new Type 42 Duty Uniform. In real time she could see Beryl approved it and said it would be available in the laundry room.
Kiyo glanced to Zan and Sanda and listened to their conversation. "Big sister! just rest! you'll get your chance soon!" she replied to her. then nodded "agreed, giving them a sporting chance good idea, oh speaking of, i left a present for you in your armor's loadout, hope you like it!" Kiyo said before moving to talk to a medic for her check up.
Zanven heard Sanda's reply and smiled before hearing her raise from her bed. He shook his head and still continued to leave when he bumped into Sakuko and he heard her ask what was up. He looked at her and answered her in a calm tone, though it was a little sad as he remembered the kiss in the elevator. "Well I got my mission...heading to Gashmere with Sanda and we are going to get those bastards that ambushed the away team. That means that...we probably won't be seeing each other for a while again." He said as he scratched the back of his head.
"Oh!" Sakuko blinked. "You don't know how long it will be for?" she asked, rubbing the back of her head. "I will miss you, Zanven. Before you go, can you stop by my cabin? I believe I owe you a kiss," she smiled softly, looking into his eyes. "I'll be waiting," she said, giving another squeeze to his hands.
Zanven nodded as she confirmed what he had just said to her. Seeing her rub the back of her head made him honestly feel bad for asking for the mission but he knew had to do this. Then he was taken by surprise as as she asked him to stop by her cabin and that she owed him a kiss before he left. That smile made his cheeks warm up as she looked into his eyes and stated that she would be waiting and gave his hands another squeeze he chuckled. "I will see you soon." He said as she looked like she had to get back to what she was doing before he messaged her.
in his head he was hoping he performed well on this mission. Showing he was worth the time and investment to his crew was great, but he was actually...having thoughts of what would happen between him Sakuko and if there was something past their time served in service to the Resurgence.
Sanda actually blushed a little bit. She felt touched that her crew were behind her in going back to Gashmere to finish the fight. "Gracious." She said as she closed her eyes again. She just needed a little rest and then she'd be up and ready to take the fight to those that had soiled the Resurgence's honor.
