OOC [Yamatai] Orochi Squadron - Classic SARP Spacey Action!

@paladinrpg, Kishi will most likely be contacting Kurosora Kim over the comms to hash out insertion plans, to coordinate the V6D escort elements, torpedo-carriers and the boarding parties. Would you like to make this a JP to expedite matters?

Am I being cheeky if I try and give Eisei two shoulder-adapter burst rifles and an ellipsoid shield to carry her sword in? I just want to give her something quantity over quality really, she can't aim for donuts even on her wiki. The shoulder adapter things are on the list, just nobody uses them for some reason.

@Primitive Polygon You have freedom to equip whatever you like in shoulder spots and beyond, the suggested loadout is more for you to achieve the mission goals (rifle for hull cutting, teleport to get out of death and help your fellow Neko do likewise, and countermeasure pods to evade battlepod missiles gunning for you).

@Grey Library I can try a JP if you want to go that route of micromanaging things. The way I originally envisioned it will probably break down to something like 10 missile oriented fighters escorting the 100 infantry , with 2 that have a heavier starship torpedo loadout to pierce the Pillager's shields you are assigned to board and disable. I would also note since you'd appreciate this... Irim's have older floating Weapon Pods to deploy for self-defense, so no CAP screen is required to stay behind and all fighters can go on the attack.

Just a heads up things have cleared up on my end, so you'll be stuck with my cat puns for the foreseeable future.

Will have a post up if necessary once I catch up.

Ok everyone, time for this newbie to shine! After going over important information in the wiki, here's my Neko character for the Open-RP thread. This is a brief description before I make an official character submission.

Name: Sigrid Fukuzawa
Height: 164cm (5'5")
Weight: 54kg (119lbs)
Skin: Pale Teal
Hair: Mahogany-colored, straight, medium length (extends just past shoulders), shaved around right ear.
Eyes: Chestnut-brown
Description: Fresh out of programming and training, Sigrid is motivated by a powerful sense of duty towards her nation and fellow Yamataians. This manifests itself through perseverance and courage when overcoming obstacles. However, this also means that failure, or simply lacking validation for her efforts, can lead to strong feelings of anxiety and unhappiness.

Hope this is good for a first timer such as myself. I tried my best to follow the rules! Let me know if I need to correct anything.

Just wanted to apologize for the delay going forward -- some newbies that may want a piece of the action, also @Grey Library and myself are working out some changes to the fighter wing and Raku Kishi before we jump into the real meat and potatoes of the plot.

No problem with that on my part. That means I have more time to submit my character for the plot :D. Any ETA on when things start moving again?

Oh, just a day or two. The Orochi and her sister ships fold into the system next major posting. The last one was just your leader NCO responding to questions, to keep things moving along between the characters

@paladinrpg, requesting clarification: Are the Infantry Wings traveling in Raccoon T7s fitted with Dageki Strike Modules, or just going EVA in their Power Armours? I'll need it to decide if Kishi's going to have her Hayabusas carrying one antishield Ke-Z1 Torpedo per Element (4 torpedo-carriers, 1 torp each) and let the Dageki Modules cut through the armor on their own, or carry extra aether torpedoes to open hull-breaches for the EVA teams to enter through.

By Shuttle:
  • Pilots: Nimbler craft, more space for mini-missiles, less punch-through power should something go wrong.
  • Troopers: More protection, boarding capability, less evasion and higher casualties per shuttle destroyed.
By Space-Walk:
  • Pilots: More punch, opportunity to hit multiple ships, lower agility and higher risk of casualties.
  • Troopers: More evasion, less risk of mass casualties, no boarding capability and no protection.
In RTS terms, travel in APCs and risk that one RPG blowing everyone up, or go it Omaha Beach-style and all that entails.

Oh no, this is EVA all the way. Old fashioned overpowered SARP rules here with the Irim, back when proper starfighters were a novelty, PA was all the SAoY really used. Don't need shuttles when a subspace encased launch catapult can throw you in a Mindy at the enemy at initial speeds that can keep up with modern starfighter craft...

Ergo, you all reach the battlespace near the Pillagers roughly at the same time (infantry is shot out in waves, Fighters use their engines to launch). And have to fight the rest of the way through to the NMX ship you are assigned to board. Battlepods and anti armor turret fire is your main opponents.

The Hyabusa main role is to keep the pods from swarming the more fragile Mindys, and help get the cap ship shields stripped quickly with torpedoes. Mindy has some ability to break shields with countermeasure mini missiles too, but fighters are much better at it. Then comes the Aether Beam Sabers which are really designed for cutting into spaceships once you land the infantry safely on the hulls.

I will admit the Dageki is a good solution we could use in a later scenario, so thanks for reminding me about it. But I just didn't want to use it and lessen the "arcade action" element of this initial battle I had in mind. :)
