Arild read the message with growing rage, how dare they suggest that he would betray the Star Army? Arild might not always be completely happy with the empire or the Star Army, but no one, ever, could think of him as not being loyal. He wore his loyalty like a cloak, and one of the last things he had left. Friends? Mostly dead. Property? Not much. Faith? None. But Loyalty? That's one thing that couldn't be taken from him. Through attacking him before demanding his surrender, they seemed to think that he was a coward. They had judged him badly.

Mutiny seemed to be following him, first on the Destiny, now here, and that bitter legacy still burnt his soul, he was still tormented by the fact he had been forced to leave his own ship, and all of the shame that had brought with it.

But history would not repeat itself, he would not bow down to these people, and he would not submit. But and Irim ... damn. He was well aware of its destructive capabilities, and of the Confidences ships. He would gladly give his life if need be, but not that of his crew. So now the question was if taking on an Irim was merely a very difficult fight, or suicide.

"We are under attack by rebel ships, traitors of the Star Army, all bridge crew get to your stations, everyone else get to your stations. I repeat we are under attack.â€

He'd not been up for the meal that'd followed the little introduction meeting the Captain had arranged upon the crew's arrival to the ship. Instead he found a bunkroom, unpacked his effects, and fell asleep.

The crew seemed pleasant enough, he'd thought as his consiousness faded; they'd be easy to work with. Hopefully this tour would be more successful, and more drawn out than his last – and he hoped most of all, that it would turn out to be safe.

"We are under attack by rebel ships, traitors of the Star Army, all bridge crew get to your stations, everyone else get to your stations.â€

Arild always kept the shields up on medium strength, just in case of the circumstances like this one. And right now Arild thanked God for this, as he felt four huge blows against the ship. He knew an Irims capacity, and that the shells it carried where equivelant to 9 teratonees of explosives if the contacted matter. Still wasn't great though.

"Sir, the shields are severely damaged from one of the shell hits, I require time to repair them." The AI told him, as the lights flickered momentarily.

"Megami-san, have you sent a report to the SA command yet?" Arild asked, suddenly remembering protocol.

"No sir, I have not."

"Well please send the following message, "The YSS Confidence is under attack from traitor ship Ixa, controlled by one Yoshike claiming to be a Taisho. We request back up, we do not currently know how many ships we are against, and given our enemies supperior fire power, we need re-enforcments now. I will keep them engaged untill I recieve further orders. Message ends. Now send it through Hyperspace and Subspace." Arild ordered through his Bio-neural interface.

Outside the Confidence was dodging other incoming hits, and responding with its own shots. Currently it was about survival, not victory.

Henako sprinted down the ship, he had made it to his room and kitted up, xaser rifle in hand, this was big. It was no riot, it was full-scale war. He wasn't too sure where to go, but just in case of boarding he stayed in the corridor. He could feel the pounding the ship was taking, and knew that the Confidence was under a lot of fire. "AI do you have specific orders for me?" Henako called out. He wanted to help as much as possible.

Masako had been at the galley when the alert came through, pausing in mid-meal as she looked up in shock. Traitors...here...in 5th XF!? Another mutiny was occurring and the traitors were attacking the ship she was on again. "Kuso," she muttered as she practically leapt from her seat and dashed out the galley door.

Training kicked in as she immediately began to head for the powered armor bay. She was actually starting to strip from her uniform a few meters from the entrance. Getting inside and into a Mindy took only a few seconds for Kurohoshi Masako, having been putting on such suits for a little more than a good half year now.

In her Mindy with her helmet off, Masako opened the intercom from the bay. "Taisa-san, Jôtô Heisho Kurohoshi Masako reporting from the Armor Bay," the neko reported. "I'm suited up and ready for combat, sir."

Kenda was still walking along the corridors of the ship, after all, they didn't have any gear that needed to be checked in, and even if they did, he was somewhat confused as to why they needed two armorers on a ship with so little crew...

His thoughts were disrupted by the announcement, which had him looking up and wondering a bit, before asking "AI, reccomendations on a battle station for the....gaaah!" His words were interrupted by the shuddering impacts, and never being the most balanced person, especially while distracted, he went sliding into the nearby wall, gripping it for support. He quickly regained his footing and senses and finished "For ther armorer? Any boarders that need to be repelled?" He drew his issued firearm, glancing down a bit at it...damnit, he never thought he'd have to use this.

Taiie Staging Area: Betrayal at Taiie- YSS-Confidence

The Confidence's shield systems took the direct hits of the shells. With the MSAP's still inbound the situation would have been increasingly difficult. The Irim Gunship Ixa was coming about and preparing to fire its Transposition Cannon.

"Prepare to execute firing...â€

The Confidences Scalar Electrogravitic destroyed the incoming missiles, plasma fusing and disintegrating their bodies, and frying any circuitry they might have on board. The flurries of missiles didn't even make the ship shudder, privilege of the shield really being more of a field, and there not really being any impact.

The Confidence in any case had its 80 MVD-2 Mobile Turrets moving over the surface of the ship, ready to shoot down any missile that managed to penetrates the shields, and firing at the Lamia's, 40 firing a mixture of transphasic aether and subspace detonator missiles, using the Nightflower Missile System, and taking advantage of its area effect to encompass multiple Lamia's at the same time. And the other 50 where using the Phased Energy Pulse Cannon, firing 4 shots a second and firing flurries of these powerful shots at the enemy power armours, or at the enemy ships when there was an opening.

Along with this there where the 40 MVD-1's inflicting massive 80 gigatonne every shot, and with 100 shots a minute using the mega-disruptor setting was firing at the clouds of Lamia's, and 40 MVD-1's on the Gattling Phasor setting firing 1 shot a second that would easily penetrate shielding, delivering 500 megatonnes with each shot.

And for the ships the Confidence was firing its Energy Wave Projection Cannons, blasts pulling energy from hyperspace for hits of around 500 gigatonnes, each of the eight turrets firing a pulse a second. If nothing else it should give the Ixa some trouble.

Just to make hitting the Confidence was faster, it weaved a complex path around the Ixa, diving past concentrations of Lamia's as so to cause friendly fire, and to embrace them in the Scalar Electrogravitic shields, intending to either cause damage to their material or to damage their systems, as well as allowing better shots. It's energy shields where damaged, true, but the CFS which had not been up at the time of the attack, now was, aiding the ships defences.

Behind all this was Arild, in deep interface with the ship, controlling the combat, his mind travelling furiously, even as his body sat, eyes closed and motionless, in the Captains chair. He received the message from the Sheriden, the AI informing him about the allies appearing in the area, and although he did momentarily consider that this may simply be more traitors he sent back a message shortly.

"YSS-Sheriden

Tai,

We are managing to survive here, although I wouldn't like to lengthen a dog fight between the Ixa and the Confidence longer than possible.â€

Henako walked down the corridor, he hadn't received a reply from the AI. He didn't mind though he had found some things to do, mainly ordering infantry around and shouting orders. He loved it. Being in charge of the infantry that was. He was in the middle of the corridor when he saw Carlos.

"Hey Carlos. Dude, how are you doing? " Henako was shouting out greeting at, some would say, not the most appropriate time. They where in the middle of a combat situation. All he had done in it was feel the shudders of the ship though. He moved over to Carlos.

"Hey!" He called out to Henako, a grim look on his face as he jogged down the corridor towards the man who was really his only friend. He had made himself scarce up until now, bursting into duty mode as a medic of the ship.

He was wearing his Star Army uniform, flecked with blood in a few places. His medic bag was over his shoulder, his sidearm holstered at his hip. Evidently he'd found something to do in the last hour or so.

Henako stared at the mans uniform, it had patches of blood on it in certain place. "Been busy?" Henako asked while still looking at the blood. "How are you doing? As I haven't done as much as you evidently. Just shouted some orders. It's fun, should try it some time." Henako laughed. It wasn't that funny, but he felt better just being in the presence of someone he knew, he would even say a good friend.

Carlos grinned, peeling the sterile surgical gloves off his hands and shoving them into a special pocket in his bag. He cracked his knuckles and spoke "Yeah, been keeping busy. I'm not much for orders, you know? I don't have a very commanding voice, eh?"

Multiple factors were beginning to create a very desperate situation among the rebels; already they were being systematically slaughtered or captured by the loyal personnel onboard the vessels in the disabled fleet. Already most had managed to get their computer's operating in ACS mode with at least most capabilities back at the disposal of the commanders.

Lack of communication was also adding to the frustration of what before seemed to be a formable force. The Ixa had not transmitted commands to any of the remaining rebels which were now down in the two hundred range spread out over the fleet. The Ixa had its hands full and Yoshike's incompetence as a commanding officer was becoming brilliantly apparent as she sat staring at the tactical hologram at the front of the bridge.

The Confidence had cleared nearly 2 of the 4 wings of Lamia's she had assigned to go after the fleet. The remaining wing was pushing their CDD drive to propel them at 500c as they desperately tried to escape the staging area of the awakening fleet. But found themselves in the presence of the reinforcements which had began launching armors of their own in response.

The six wings which had been clinging to the Ixa were quickly dropping like flies as the weapons of the Confidence discharged either at them or the Confidence. It was not long until only 4 of the wings of one thousand remained in formation. There was nearly constant radio chatter along the lines of "Lamia Wing to Ixa....What do you want us to do Yoshike?â€

Nick had always been scared of the first time that he would be in a battle. After the initial confusion he'd felt, there was near nothing. Sure, the adrenal rush was still there, it was a battle after all, but Nick had expected so much more. It probably would have been a very different story if the reinforcements hadn't arrived. They'd turned the tide of battle very quickly from what he gathered over the communications traffic. But they had arrived, with an almost eerie timeliness.

Yes, it seemed, right then to Nick that the finely tuned warmachine that was the Star Army of Yamatai was truly an amazing force. It was the efficiency of it, he was sure; so mechanical and cold; so impersonal. Hell, his job had been carried out by the AI for the most part – the Captain seemed to have direct control of the ship's systems though it.

Still, however, Nick monitored the communications traffic, keeping transmissions incoming to the Confidence organized and clear, maintaining outgoing traffic, and attempting to raise the Akuro, subconsciously knowing that it was near impossible unless her crew managed to regain control; this was the job of a communications officer, not a technician like him. Then, the message came.

â€

The Confidence quickly aproached the Oberon transports, and came in range for its Projection Cannons at 800,000 KM, firing wave after wave at the transports, carefull for precision so that it would not hit freindly ships. To make sure the transports came down, all 40 of the MVD-1's began firing as well. The Confidence was not that badly damaged, and could most likely take care of two transports by itself. With 8 500 gigatonne shots being fired every second, four at each transport, and with many more hundres of gigatonnes of combined fire from the turrets, it would be a surprise if the Transports where not destroyed.

"This is Chujo Motoyoshi, once again in command of the YSS-Akuro. Please Respond...â€

"No matter what you have to stop those transports Taisa, other than that we are fine over here. Once the transports have been destroyed please hold position and standby for further orders. Katsuko Out.â€

Masako leaned against the wall of the armor bay sighing calmly before standing up and replacing her suit where it belonged. Having received no order to launch in her suit and with the battle over, there was no more need for her to be down there in powered armor.

Removing herself from her Mindy she took a quick shower and dressed before exiting the armor bay. "I guess the Taisa was too busy to order me out...or maybe it would have been too hectic to launch against traitorous forces," she mumbled to herself as she walked down the corridors.

"I am still a rookie after all...only experience being one battle," she kept mumbling. "Guess Taisa-san sees me as useless."

Arild steered the ship into a defencive position relative to the staging area, bringing its weapons down to half power, but keeping its shields on full, with the exception of the electrogravitic.

"AI, you take it from here." Arild sent, and disconected himself from his chair. He stood up and quickly formulated a message to the crew.

"We have managed to survive the battle with no casualties, a victory. We held our own against an Irim, and protected many deactivated vessels from destruction. I'm sorry to the Power Armour pilots, but it was my opinion that it was too dangerous for you to go out. There where litteraly thousands of Lamia out there, and I'm not altogether sure how our electrogravitic shield would effect your suits. Probably not well. This combined with the amount of energy weapons going off meant that it simply was too dangerous to risk. As for those standing ready ic case of boarding, all I can say is thank God that we where not, but your contribution has still been noted and apreciated. I am proud of you all. Now don't become too relaxed, we are not entierly out of danger yet, but you can stand down, get a bite to eat, rest if you need to. I will keep you all posted. Taisa out."

Kenda gave a sigh of releif, having not moved from his spot against the wall, unsure of where to go. So the battle was over....that was good, boarders would be rather hard for him to prepare for, he didn't even know where he would have prepared at. He reholstered his gun, and moved along the corridor, gait a bit shakey from the bounces the ship had taken. He eventually found his way to the quarters he had picked out, and rested on his cot, eyes closing, though it was doubtful he would sleep given that there was still enemies out there from the captains words.

Listening to the Taisa's message Masako could only sigh as she headed towards the galley. It definitely made sense...ok, he made a lot of sense. If she had gone out there, either the electrogravitic shield or the mass of Lamias would have probably killed her.

But it still didn't stop her from feeling like she was a bit useless at the moment. She could have at least tried to have done something other than sitting around the power armor bay waiting for an order that was not to come.

Entering the galley, the young neko began to forage for anything edible. She was plenty hungry after that battle, no matter how useless she thought she was.
