Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"Of course," the sprite responded with a smile. "You know the drill; its the same thing for ST backups as well as transfer, except that I want you to go to sleep during the procedure. Also, you see that headset next to you on the table? I also want you to put that on. As soon as you have done that, we can proceed."

Immediately after seeing Isuzu don the headset, Marmalade's fingers ran over the keyboard, starting the ST machine's work into motion. The machine started to hum slightly and deeply. Over the next few hours, the hemosynth tube would create the neko's new body, upgraded with the stealth capabilities. As soon as it is completed, the ST machine will use the consciousness it had just extracted from Isuzu to put life into the body. In the meanwhile, however, they would all just have to wait.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Before she closed her eyes, Isuzu cast a last, jaunidiced glance at the medic, with his silly grin. Hard green eyes promissed much pain should she discover that there had been any unexplained... 'delays' in the processing of her old body- and then the light in them faded and they slowly shut.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Renko, seeing Lyf a bit busy, decided to get marmalade to help. Stepping up to the sprite she leaned over and stuck her head down next to marmalade's face.

"Could I get your help to do something?" Without even waiting for a reply Renko grinned and held up the DNA sample. "I wanted to clone a few lobsters to try and recreate a dish I had on my last assignment. Would you mind throwing a few into some extra tanks so I can cook for the crew?"

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Marmalade, so disarmed by Renko's response, smiled sincerely and said, "Sure thing, I can't wait to taste real lobster! I'm sure it won't cause a disturbance at all. Taking the DNA sample, she started the procedure of cloning six more lobsters, all the while mesmerized by the tantalizing thought of real lobster.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Renko's grin widened even more as she stood up straight and patted Marmalade on the head.

"Thanks! I'm off! Let me know when their done!"

Skipping jauntily out of the room Renko decided that the next stop on her trip would be her room to settle in.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Before Isuzu's eyes shut, Lyf stared right back into them unquiveringly. Though he was still having a hard time not grinning, his eyes conveyed no mischevious intentions. As he looked up and saw Renko trotting off towards the dormitories, he thought about how he hadn't really had a chance to look around there yet.

"This'll take a while, yet, won't it?" Lyf asked Marmalade, though he was pretty sure he already knew the answer. "I'm going to go ahead and look around the ship some more, unless you still need me right now. I'll be back in a while or you can call for me." As the medic left Isuzu and Marmalade in the room, the faintest trace of a grin still played upon his face.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Checking each corridor before going down it to make sure she doesn't run into into her brother, Renko makes as close as a direct course to her room as possible. Entering the enlisted cabin she was assigned, she checked the roster to see who else she would be sharing her cabin with. Renko also looked around to see if said people are in the cabin when she arrives.

"Hello? Sorry for the rough fly by earlier!"

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Galar, finally finished giving his first standing orders, as well as his crew placements, started to really examine the bridge and see how things would work. After completing his rounds, he decided to make his way to the C.O.'s quarters and make himself at home there. "Mochi, please make sure all systems are ready at 0600 tomorrow, I want to get an early start. Mochi nodded as Galar left the bridge and walked through the halls.

Renko, in her assigned quarters, unpacked her cloths and personal items. Arranging them where they belonged, knowing full well that they would only stay that way for a short while with the way she ran things.

Akira grabbed a bit of food from the mess hall, looking on the next days menu to see they would be eating Lobster for dinner. Akira smiled, buttered lobster was one of his favorites. He started to chow down, eating quickly so he could finish unpacking.

Lyf decided that he should go back to his quarters to take a closer look, as he had been sidetracked earlier. He glanced at his room assignment as he walked through the hall and noticed that he would be with Akira and Isuzu. “That should be alright,” he thought. “I just hope they don’t take up all of my space.” He, like Renko, began to plan where everything would go, but unlike her, he expected it to stay there.

On the way to his quarters, Galar encountered Lyf, making his way to his own room, "Hello there, Lyf-Hei; are you finding this ship to have the right accommodations?"

Renko, having finished with her unpacking, stripped down naked and crawled into her nest. Curling up in the fetal position she fell asleep almost as soon as she evened her breath.

Akira finished his meal, and made his way back to his cabin to unpack. Along the way he noticed Galar talking to a crew member, a clean-cut Yamataian, and decided to let them be. No sense in interrupting anything, right? He went around, and though it took a few minutes longer, made his way to his cabin.

Passing Galar, Lyf responded, “Certainly, Vanatosk-shoi. Thank you for asking. I was just headed to my room to unpack.” Continuing on, he reached his room and opened his suitcase. “Hmm… I should still have plenty of time before Isuzu will need her tests,” he thought out loud to himself as he squatted down and began to extract his clothes. Looking up, he noticed another crewmember enter the room. “Hello,” Lyf said, standing up. “I suppose we’re roommates, then? I am Lyf Kenna.”

Continuing to his own quarters, Galar opened the door and walked inside. It seemed moderately plush. There were two armchairs with nice cushions, a cabinet filled with his own Lorath wine, which he had purchased nearly half a year previously, and should be ready to drink. Nodding his pleasure, Galar sat on the very nice bed, and thought to himself, I could certainly get used to this. Before going to sleep, Galar sent out a message to all the crew. Everyone, I want you all dressed and ready to go in the planning room behind the bridge at 0600. I will brief you all on the upcoming mission then.

"Ummmhhh....wake me at 0500...." Renko woke long enough to utter a wake up call before curling tighter and drifting off into a deep sleep.

From the pillows inside her quarters, Kumiko set her digital brain to wake her up at 0530, as she deemed this enough time to get ready, as long as she was quick. She planned to be.

Akira entered the room to be greeted by the same clean-cut man who he saw talking to Galar. "I guess so. My name is Akira Hibiki." Akira started to unpack his items from his duffel, setting things in there appropriate drawers and things. As he worked, he noticed the depressions filled with pillows, that looked something like a bird would sleep in. "So, are these areas for sleeping?" Akira gestured at the nests. The captain's order drifted through his brain, and he absently nodded at it, pulling out his alarm and setting it for 0515.

“They must be,” Lyf said with a shrug. “I don’t know what else we would sleep on unless you prefer the floor.” He turned back to his luggage and quickly unpacked the rest of his clothes. Deciding that he would finish in the morning, Lyf set his own alarm for 0500 just to make sure he would have enough time for everything.

As time progressed, the crew fell into a deep sleep, ready to wake the next day for thier first mission aboard the YSS Moirai. However, one person was now awake...

As she slowly came to her senses under the gentle mental prodding of the computer, Isuzu opened her eyes. It was a strain for a moment, but she finally managed to focus through the milky liquid that surrounded her. Oh... the upgrade; right. Noticing that Marmalade was watching her from outside of the tube, Isuzu raised her hand (or tried to, anyhow), to show that she was awake and aware.

Marmalade smiled and opened the tube, helping Isuzu out of it. Setting her on the floor, Marmalade asked, "How is everything, feeling right I hope?"

Isuzu spent a few seconds taking stock before she replied. Everything seemed to be in working order, and a check of her internal systems showed no anomalies. There were a few new options in her 'message box;' instructions for use of the NH-29S's special abilities. She would check those later.
"I'm fine, I think," she responded absently.

Marmalade nodded, but for some reason, the neko would seem very large to Isuzu. Marmalade bent down and lifted the dazed Isuzu and brought her to the table, which would also seem abnormally tall. Setting her on the table, Marmalade brought a blanket and said, "Do you feel like sleeping here, or do you feel like you could make it to your room?"

"I can manage," Isuzu assured her, still rather fuzzy headed; she really hated getting ST backups, and ST revival was apparently a hundred times more disorienting. The young Neko didn't even remember to grab her clothes and back as she rose unsteadily from the table, holding the blanket around herself as she swayed drowsily in midair. "When are my tests?" she asked.

Marmalade waved the neko on her way, as she gathered up the clothes and bag, and started walking ahead of the neko, in order to deliver them to Isuzu's room before she got there.

Not trusting her legs, Isuzu floated after Marmalade like a lost kitten. She really hoped this disorientation went away fast; she couldn't work like this. Everything looked so strange to her now, almost like everything had gotten... bigger, somehow. *Actually...* That was one thing she wanted to try right away. Accessing one of the files, Isuzu skimmed the contents then closed her eyes, trying to focus on 'seeing' the world around her without them.
Her skin vision system started immediately, and the young Neko was overwhelmed for a few seconds, and she nearly fell out of the air as she tried to cope with seeing the world in 360 degrees in every direction. That is going to take some getting used to, she mused, trying to limit her vision down to just what was in front of her, focusing on Marmalade.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Once she'd recovered her balance, Isuzu noticed that there was a message from the Moirai in her inbox; it was a general call to muster at 0600. This gave her barely three hours to sleep, and Isuzu was sorely tempted to just stay awake; her body had technically only been 'alive' for a couple hours, so it probably didn't need the rest.

Still, perhaps the post-revival disorientation would fade by the time she awoke. Following Marmalade to the enlisted quarters, Isuzu mumured a soft, "Thank you," to the sprite before setting her internal alarm for 0530 and collapsing into the empty bunk that Malamade had selected for her.

This is nice, she decided, letting her skin-vision fade to black. It might just be an illusion caused by her current mental state, but the mattress felt especially soft and spacious, and Isuzu quickly drifted off to sleep.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

You are hereby assigned to the YSS Moirai ND-X3-32, currently docked at the Anisa Star Fortress in the Talori system. Please report there as soon as is practical.

"What an interesting message-" Strelgar mused, he almost forgot about it. The ride in the transport was amazingly short for what he was used to. Getting off at the Anisa Fortress, all the events happening around him, left him utterly lost. When he started on his way to where one of the staff directed him to go.

"Transport-" He mused over the new word he had just learned, "I have far to much to learn."He made slow progress traversing through the halls. Soon losing track of where he was altogether.

"Hmmm-" This isn't good, me getting lost. What did mother used to say? You are never lost, just a little sidetracked is all. Strelgar smiled looking into fond memories of his past for help. "Well lets flip a coin on it." He pulled out a shiny silver medallion tossing it in the air letting it fall hitting the ground. The ring of silver rang in the unfamiliar hall, "Symbol!" He picked up his treasure, turned left and moved down the hall swiftly.

***

"Astounding!" Strelgar sighed, almost feeling insignificant compared to the hangar. Which is what Strelgar figured it was, by definition, this beats the hell out of his home worlds buildings. There sat a Yamatai Star Ship, at least it was very close to the definition he was told it being. With some uniformed soldiers, Strelgar should call guards.

"Hello! Guards I am looking for the YSS Moirai, is this it! He shouted as he jogged towards the armed guards. "Please is this the place it rests for I have need to report to the CO." He explained, saying the words he was told to say. I don't know the time or most of what I just said but they should know- I hope. Strelgar pulled out the pad that he was told to show people of authority, pushing aside the feeling of uneasiness. Looking into more of his mothers wisdom. Just be nice or seem a little unsure of yourself, if you have to speak to some one you have never seen before. He held it out to them, almost swearing. This is not you at all Strelgar, stop acting and start being confident. He kept on thinking, but felt ashamed of how helpless he was around this strange place.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Galar grumbled, woken out of his slumber by a mental message from one of the guards, saying there was a new recruit standing outside the ship. As he had just been woken from a fitful slumber, Galar sighed, this was annoying, but necessary. As he blinked the sleep out of his eyes, he quickly re-dressed and walked to the airlock. Opening it, he gestured to the crewmember to follow him. As he walked through the halls, Galar asked the newcomer, "So, your name is Strelgar Jextair, VelCroix, Santo Hei correct? I will want to get to know you better tomorrow and for you to meet the rest of the crew, but that shall have to wait for tomorrow at 0600. Please be in the briefing room behind the bridge– EIES will guide you there. I will be discussing mission details then. For now, however, I bid you goodnight. You can find your quarters through the EIES as well."

Galar left Strelgar to find his room, already thinking of his bed and how he should be asleep by now.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"EIES?" Strelgar pondered, as he entered into the rooms he was directed. "Well I'll just Put my bag here and rest." He Just relaxed on the floor, legs crossed, as he found the hard surface really comfortable. Almost like he was back home when he would rest on ground with the crackling of a fire singing. He pulled his hair out if its braid letting it fall free and loose.

"Night Mother, Kuut hekrd dfemekrd mad ouin mekrd binevo so sekrd." He yawned, he seemed to sleep best right after fast travel on those transports. Unusual I wonder what it is about them that seem to steal so much vitality? He wondered as he drifted to get some sleep, the first he was going to get in a good two weeks.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Juuuust as she'd finally found her way into the soothing refuge of sleep, a priority message from the Moirai tickled the back of Isuzu's mind. Rousing groggily, she accepted the hail. *This is Kuroaki Isuzu,* she answered tersely, not opening her eyes.

*Kuroaki-Hei, as you're currently the ranking security officer onboard the ship, your presence is required on deck for the processing of a new crew member,* the chipper 'voice' of Mochi stated over the telepathic link.

I am? A quick peek at the ship's roster confirmed it; she and Ren were the highest-ranked soldiers on the ship, after Vanatosk-Shoi. *There in a moment,* she responded after a second of dumbfounded silence; she wasn't even an 'officer' yet!

Shocked awake by this bizarre revelation, Isuzu opened her eyes and sat up... and immediately discovered that the world hadn't managed to correct itself during the short time that she was asleep. Her bed still seemed to stretch in all directions like a huge padded shelf with a precipitous drop at the edge.

Checking her internal diagnostics once more, Isuzu looked for any abnormalities. Could it be that her depth perception had been thrown out of whack by the skin-vision system, or-

Oh...

There was a joke in this somewhere, Isuzu was sure of it- and, as usual, the joke seemed to be on her...

*****

Juuuust as Strelgar had finally surrendered to the embrace of long-denied slumber, a quiet but somewhat cranky-sounding female voice tickled his ear. "VelCroix-Hei?" the voice asked from somewhere nearby, like the speaker was sitting on the floor across from him.

When he opened his eyes, the tall man would be greeted by the strange and somewhat surreal sight if a tiny, eight-inch tall Neko floating at head level in front of him. The Neko had short black hair and dark skin, and seemed to be wearing an equally tiny male-style Star Army uniform. Her arms were crossed over her chest and she had a stormy expression on her face, like she wasn't particularly happy about something.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

He opened his eyes not even sleeping yet, "Figures- not like I can get real sleep anyhow." He looked at the tiny Yamat, looking not at all surprised. "Seems I was expecting something like this." He sighed, knowing that something like this would be a good part of ship life. "Yes, I am not knowing something?" He just decided to lay the accent on heavy for the hell of it.

"San~Hai" He mumbled, This is a greeting? It is really strange, but hell I just found out this kind of tech exists. He reached out to see if it was an illusion like at the Fort Ready.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

The cat-eared apparition darted out of reach, looking even more annoyed than before. "VelCroix-Hei, your orders?" Isuzu snipped, holding out her hand. Though the hallway illumination was dimmed for 'lights out,' the neko's green-eyed stare was bright and needle-sharp in the darkness, and she waited expectantly for the man to show her the data pad that contained his official orders.

Technically, she didn't really need to see it. His orders had already been downloaded into the Moirai's computer and biometrics had been performed when he entered the station to confirm his identity; all this she had already confirmed on the way to pick him up. Still, this was a military ship, and there were protocols to follow.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"Here is the pad you seek." He said, as he slid it towards the quick illusion. At least that it seemed to him, he never understood the reasoning for these strange glowing pads with words on them. "Good yes? Now protocol is satisfied?" He chimed, knowing that this would probably become a common event in his day.

He shrugged, as he stroked his hair. Its length has grown long in the time of his travels.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

[alhazred23]
Not replying immediately, Isuzu hovered over the pad, accessing it through psionic link. The screen changed to display Strelgar's orders, and she skimmed them once more before backing away. "Welcome to the YSS Moirai," Isuzu intoned with a curt nod, completing the ritual. "It's lights out," she warned, floating higher and tilting her head to the side in indication that he should follow.

Isuzu didn't even want to know why he'd decided to sleep in the hall. It probably wasn't worth the trouble to ask, and while it was against regulations, Isuzu wasn't in such a bad mood that she was going to bust his chops too bad just for sitting on the floor. He was a Geshrin and a Nepleslian native, so it was vaguely possible that he didn't know how to access the computer, and the records said he was infantry; she'd let Ren deal with him.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"Yeah-" Strelgar sighed, it wasn't the fact he was tired. It was just the fact that he knew he slept without fail just last year. "Lead the way tiny Yamat," he said with his accent heavy again. It for him was far to much work to speak with normal vocabulary, even putting forth the kindness to speak with common dialect and sentence structure.

"Hurry little fairy, you are very irritated. I apologize, I don't sleep well." Strelgar made sure to not cause any aggressive feelings towards him, for it did happen they would in turn get on his nerves no matter how great his were. He stood getting his bag, and followed the little fairy Yamat.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Muttering something in a gutteral, alien tongue that Srelgar had probably never neard before (unless he spoke Mishhuvurthyar), Isuzu turned and headed down the hall. Skimming along at head height, always just out of arm's reach, the Neko led Srelgar to the first enlisted crew cabin.

"Choose an empty bunk," she instructed, as the door opened automatically. Turning to go, Isuzu sent a message to the Geshrin man's datapad to sound a wakeup call at 0530. "General Muster in the ready room at 0600," she reminded, before fading into the shadows- literally. The strange little creature didn't retreat so much as vanish into thin air.

Once she was around the corner, Isuzu faded back into view, though it took her a moment to remember to put her 'clothes' back on. Marking herself as 'on-duty' in the ship's log, she began roaming the halls; it was already 4:30, after all, and she doubted an hour of sleep was going to do her much good...

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Tossing his bag on nearest empty bed, he stood still wearing the basic uniform. "Creepy little fairies-" He lifted up the little data pad, as he started to experiment with its functions. Wake up call 0530? Then meet in ready room at 0600? "What time is this?" He sat on the cushioned pad the Yamatians used for resting. "I no sleep anyhow," he put it on the floor just out of reach.

He sat there hunched over on his bed watching closely. "When it rings I pounce!" He whispered, with nothing else to do and, there was no space for combat practice in the enlisted bunking area. He figured it was better than nothing, now lets wait. He stared not even flinching or moving besides the even rise and fall of his back the calm wisping sound of his breath.
