Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Renko Ignored the fallen trooper and continued to run. She began to huff and slowed down to a trot, realizing that her body was beginning to rebel.

"Thirty second break!"

Akira nodded, having just caught up. He leaned against the wall, placing his hands above his head, and took some deep breaths to allow his body to rest.

"Ma'am, permission to make an inquiry?"

"Shoot..." Renko huffed a bit and looked over at her brother as she began to slowly pace the width of the hall.

"Who is the new guy?" Akira knew he could inquire into the computer, but it felt lazy to do so. Besides, he hadn't talk to his sis in a good, long, time, and felt the need to start the conversation somehow.

"From what i gather he's a new recruit. He's also Geshrin, which is why this was a stupid idea....shit. Oh well, he'll be fine." She straightened up and gestured. "Back to the grind stone. Two more laps then we'll go for some basics."

To prove her point Renko began running again.

Akira nodded, starting slowly and building up speed. It ended up being a little more work in the long run; he had to sprint a bit to catch up, but caught up this time before the laps ended and slowed to Renko's pace.

Pacing around with a quick cool down Renko started to stretch a bit of her upper body in preparation for the next segment. Being as there was no true place to do much of any physical training abord ship Renko lead the way up to the Lounge. Gesturing to her brother she found a section to occupy that would allow her to stretch and move as needed.

"Right then. Lets begin."

Renko began to lead Akira on a series of, for both of them, ingrained calisthenics that were designed to increase even a Yamataian bodies physical condition. When the time rolled around to 0545 she stood up straight.

"Dismissed! Go get cleaned up for the meeting."

To give credence to her words Renko moved to do just that.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Galar arrived in the Briefing room at 0540, and started to pull up all the needed windows for the mission briefing. Maps appeared in consecutive volumetric windows, waiting to be viewed. Galar sat in the chair at the head of the table, while chairs were arranged around the table in order to allow each person to get a view of the windows and the captain as well. At each of the seats was a glass, waiting to be filled; in the middle of the table, there sat a single bottle of wine, not yet uncorked. Galar had decided that they would have to celebrate the start of their first mission. Especially one as simple as this one sounded.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Renko hurried to the showers and cleaned up before dressing in her best uniform. She smartly walked into the conference room and bowed to the captain "Reporting for Duty sir!"

Floating above head height to keep out of the way, Isuzu swayed to the side as Ren brushed past her without even a look up. The ship's load-out looked reasonable, and she'd left the Engineering bay with time enough to be a few minutes early for the meeting, but it appeared that her energetic colleague had still beaten her there.

Drifting in after the redhead, Isuzu bowed in midair to the captain. "Good morning, Vanatosk-Shoi," she intoned formally, taking a position at attention by the wall.

Akira came in after Isuzu, hair still damp from his shower. He was also dressed in his best uniform, and bowed to the captain. "Reporting for Duty, Sir." His voice was formal, and he quickly moved away from the door to allow others to enter.

Galar nodded to each as they entered, and gestured for them to sit down at the table. "I'm quite glad you three made it here early; it definitely helps everything move along more smoothly when you are prompt. Please take a seat, this mission should go off without a hitch as long as we are all working together and going according to my plan."

Renko sat in a handy seat, politely folding her hands in her lap. She waited patiently to be given the option to speak while maintaining attention in her seat.

Isuzu followed suit, though in her case she was forced to perch on the head of the chair back. Still, she folded her hands in her lap calmly; the captain didn't seem to be surprised by her appearance, so hopefully there was an explanation forthcoming.

Akira nodded and slid forward into a seat across from Isuzu. He noticed the Neko, and raised and eyebrow. He didn't say anything, but instead looked over at the captain.

Galar did indeed notice, but waited until everyone was seated. "Before I get started with the mission briefing, I would like to ask a few questions. Isuzu-Hei, why are you an NH-12? I thought you were simply getting the upgrade to NH-29S. Also, Renko Hibiki- Hei, what happened to VelCroix-Hei? I heard that he was injured."

"Uhhh...Sorry Sir! It was my fault. I was unclear on how much punishment a Geshrin body could withstand. It's been some time since I had one and forgot that it can’t take two gravities worth of strain. I apologize and it won’t happen again. I'll treat him with Kid gloves." Renko spent the entire speech trying not to stare at Isuzu, who had just been brought to her attention.

"I have not been made aware of the circumstances, sir," Isuzu replied evenly, not letting her confusion show. “This is an NH-29S body, but development was arrested at the Youngling stage," she explained. "I do not believe this will interfere with my duties, sir, and internal diagnostics state that my growth rate has been accelerated, so this will not last."

Akira just sat back in his chair and watched the group dynamic unfold. It was a rather interesting sight.

Galar was relieved; he was concerned when he first saw Isuzu. "How long will this stage last? I hope you are able to return to active duty in short order." He looked at Renko sternly. "See that you do. I cannot afford to lose anyone on this ship; we are all essential to its function. I assume Kenna-Hei is taking care of him? What about Kumiko-Hei? Does anyone know of her circumstance?" Galar wished to ask rather than query the EIES on the location.

"Sir, yes sir!" Renko bowed as much as she could from a seated position.

"Two weeks at most, sir," Isuzu assured Galar quickly. "And with all due respect, sir, I can still perform all non-combat duties required of me; I do not wish to be taken off of active duty." Perhaps that had come out a little harsher than she'd intended, but Isuzu wasn't going to let a little incident like this mar her service record. "With regard to Endoh-Hei, I requested that she assist Kenna-Hei with transporting VelCroix-Hei, as she was unoccupied. She is still in the infirmary." Isuzu had checked on them before she'd entered the room; moving Strelgar's big Geshrin frame around was apparently a bit of work all by itself.

Akira continued to watch and be silent. No point in saying anything that wouldn't add to the conversation, nyet?

Galar nodded. "You made the right choice Isuzu-Hei. And you will not be taken off duty. I'm sorry if it came out like that; what I meant was that if need be, you will not be able to be able to pilot a power armor in case of an attack. thus, you will be part of the bridge crew in case of attack. However, that does mean that we have everyone here who is going to show up for the time being. I will have to hold a separate session for their briefing, however inconvenient that would be. Is everyone ready for the mission briefing? I would like to leave by 0800 if possible."

"Sir!" Renko bowed again as much as she could sitting and became intent on what the captain was doing instead of trying to see Isuzu out of the corner of her eye.

"Hai, Vanatosk-Shoi," Isuzu affirmed. The captain seemed to be a very hands-on officer, if he wanted to hold another meeting just for the stragglers; she'd probably have to suggest later that she and Ren brief them, so as not to unnecessarily occupy his time.

Akira nodded. "Yes sir." He wanted to know what exactly his duties were going to be, so he could take a closer look at the armory and see what exactly it held in terms of explosives.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Lyf grunted slightly as he and Endoh-Hei lifted the massive Strelgar onto a bed. Checking the time, he sighed resignedly. It was 0558 already and not only was he going to miss the first meeting, in his rush to get Strelgar earlier he hadn't had time to anything but throw on his uniform. Vanatosk-Shoi, he began as he shot a message to Galar. I'm afraid I will be a little late. We're still finishing up with Strelgar here.

Noticing Strelgar's eyes open, he asked "Feeling better?" but before he could elicit a response from the giant Geshrin, they had closed again and Strelgar fell into unconciousness. Trying his best to fix his hair without a mirror, Lyf desperately wished for a belt. He hated not having it, and he was certainly going to get one before he went to the meeting- if he even made it before it was over.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Not sure of the time that passed he could feel him self muster from his nightmarish memories.

He couldn't open his eyes, he tried but the light forced them closed. His felt as if his head would split. "Please no lights," He whispered as he tried to move his body. "I have only one question," he said in a raspy voice, "where am I?"

He sat up with is eyes shut tight feeling a cold sweat, I-i need to get stronger. is all he could think. As he steadied his breathing, fatigue was beginning to hit him hard. It took all his strength just to do that. He felt a tear fall slide down his cheek.

"This isn't real," Strelgar said as his voice echoed. As he opened his eyes, the white room was gone only a dark forest as he was surrounded by the almost transparent figures of people that he recognized to be his victims. "You used your strength to kill us why not just turn on those around you-" a harsh and seductively toned voice of agony echoed through his head.

This is not real, they couldn't be. He thought as he tried to force himself to regain consciousness.

"It will not work, you are going to stay this time." The same voice cackled, he put his hands over his ears trying to block out the voice making him remember every one of their faces. Tears streaming down his face, "Just make it stop-" He almost sobbed, I need to escape, he thought as he fell to his knees, the ghostly stares all looking down at him unflinching.

He thrashed as he lay there on the bed his crew members left him to recover upon, "DON'T...NO...I WONT!" He shouted in hysteria, as his nightmares berated him with memories. Every last one filled with hate and agony. Then he stopped, in his dream he blacked out. He opened his eyes as he lay there his vision blurry a quiet filled his mind. They never came when he was awake, all he did was lay there drenched in a cold sweat. The silence only proved that he was awake.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Galar looked at the three gathered in the briefing room, then pulled up one of the volumetric windows. "Our mission is to rescue some SS pods, which are scattered around in the area in which the Misshu used to reside, and which is now part of Neplesia. It may sound simple, but we have absolutely no information about any possible remnants of the Misshu, pirates, or any other threat. We are going into this one nearly blind. Now, all we know is the location of each of the three pods. One is near the Rojbushra cloud, one is inside the Flarg cloud, and the other is in orbit around an unpopulated world about 10 AU Galactic North from Higaflan, and about 3 AU Galactic West from there. We are to take aboard these pods within the DOC we have been provided with. This is a simple salvage operation, so let's hope nothing goes wrong. I want the infantry to take power armors and place the pods within the DOC, while the techs stand by. Lyf will be on standby as well. We don't know what will go down during this mission.

Once we leave Yamataian space, I want everyone to stay wary. Any questions.?"

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"Sir?" Isuzu raised her head, waiting to be acknowledged by the captain before continuing. "Will we have an escort?" If they were flying blind into possibly hostile territory, it seemed foolish to do so unescorted; the Kyaa-class was hardly a fighting ship. Even requesting a local, Nepleslian escort would be safer than nothing- physically and politically, given current tensions between the nations.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Galar responded, "No, Isuzu-Hei. That is why I acquired a new Power Armor arsenal. We are going to do everything we can to remain vigilant and wary of danger. Really, there shouldn't be a problem, it is Nepleslian space and we do not fire on each other without provocation. Of course, the possibility of a dangerous confrontation between us and enemies of Yamatai exists, thus we must be on the lookout."

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Isuzu nodded, but her face said that she was unsatisfied with this answer... or perhaps that was just her normal, sour facial expression. As Ren could attest, the little neko hadn't smiled once since the first day of the International Relations Conference- and even over the dinner they'd shared, Isuzu had favored ironic smirks, like she expected certain doom to befall them at any moment.

More than unspecified 'enemies of Yamatai,' which could include just about anybody, Isuzu was worried about SMX stragglers or nasty the little surprises that they might've left behind. Even with Daisies, the YSS Moirai was grossly ill-equipped to deal with anything of that nature, and if the SMX had been aware of the SS pods, but left them where they lay, it was a reasonable bet that they'd have done something to them to frustrate Yamatai.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"No questions here pertaining to the mission sir!" Renko remained stiffly sitting in her seat.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

What seemed like hours to Strelgar with him laying there gazing at blurred colors, his vision soon focused, he was inside what seemed to be the medical treatment area of the ship, from the his memory he in a fuzzy state remembered passing a room that looked familiar. Strelgar guessed, after all he did black out.

He groaned, his body still felt like he was made of lead.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Akira leaned back in his seat, thoughtful. "I have no questions at this time, sir."

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"Ah, I see you're finally awake," Lyf said, strolling into the room. He had taken the liberty of making a quick dash to his room while Strelgar was sleeping to aquire a belt. "I expect we've already missed the briefing," Lyf continued as he picked up a large metal medical tool, "so don't bother getting up in a hurry." Using the instrument as a makeshift mirror, Lyf gave his hair a few quick sweeps with his hand to make it look semi-normal.

"You'll have to be careful in increased gravity conditions in the future," Lyf said after a short pause. "But for now, the gravity has been returned to normal, so you should be alright. I'm going to find the captain to see what I missed at the meeting. Feel free to stay and rest as long as you need- otherwise, it is my medical opinion that you are now fine." With that, Lyf turned and exited the room.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Galar then pointed to the glasses they had at each of their seats, then filled the one he had before himself with the wine in the middle of the table. "I would like to make a toast to the first mission of the YSS Moirai, so fill each of your glasses. I bought a crate of Lorath wine and as your CO I would like to share some of it with you before we depart."

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Isuzu peered incredulously at her glass. She wasn't about to climb up onto the thing and drink from it like she was a bird at a birdbath, so instead she raised her hand and used holography to make it appear as though she were holding a filled glass of the appropriate scale; she could manage that much, at least.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

The voices returned, Strelgar thrashed for an moment before realizing it was only a real person. He could barely hear his ears seemed to be ringing loudly. As he could feel the pull fatigue again. He decided the nightmares were worth just a little sleep, as he closed his eyes. Letting darkness take him, as he rested there.

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Kumiko watched as Strelgar drifted into sleep after thrashing around a bit. She sighed, glad he was actually resting, and stood up. She glanced over to Lyf, noting that he had cleaned up a bit. Having had time herself to get herself fixed up, she was ready. "Kenna-Hei, would you like to go to the meeting now? It looks like ValCroix-Hei is sleeping, so we could go while he rests."

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Returning his makeshift mirror to its proper place on a shelf of medical tools, Lyf looked up at Kumiko. "Certainly, he needs the sleep anyway." As he turned toward the door to go, he asked, "So, do you think they're even still in there? They've got to be done with the brifing by now, I would think."

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

"It's possible I suppose. One moment, I'll check." Kumiko tilted her head slightly to the side as she composed her message, then sent it to Galar.

To: Galar Vanatosk

I'm sorry to bother you, sir, but Lyf-Hei and I were wondering if we can still be at the meeting in time if we leave now, and if not, what are we to do for now?

Kumiko Endoh-Hei

Re: Mission 1 Prologue

Renko hesitantly filled her glass and held it waiting for the appropriate time to drink.
