RP: 5th XF [Yugumo Mission 1] Day 1: Perdition's Flames

Camellia woke with a start as she flailed, cried and crashed to the floor of her quarters. "You DO NOT play loud music to hangover victims!" She yelled at the ship as she got up and realized she slept in her uniform, since she was still dressed.

"Aww damnit," she muttered as she looked around, noticing a blinking clock that said she was ten minutes late for alpha shift. "Yugumo, what's my duty roster today?" She asked, as she disrobed and got a clean uniform.

"You are to report to the hanger where you and four enlisted soldiers will be using Hyuga mk IV fighters for a minor scouting mission to make sure the outer rim of the nebula is free of SMX activity. You also have an appointment in the medical bay at 2050." Came the reply from the ship's computer.

The orders were somewhat confusing, she recived training in the use of Hyuga's during her officer training, but not enough to qualify for a live mission. And the doctor's appointment baffled her too. But, she was orderd, and she would carry out her orders. Taking a second to place her new Chui pin, Camellia took a deep breath and headed out to the hanger deck.

The orders where given out: navigators, pilot duty, communications, Tesruo-san on science. Kishou listened intently; her ears swivelled solely on the Captain as she went down her list of assignments. This was it, the first job of her new posting. And it was playing fighter escort on board – what Kishou was really hoping – would be some very shiny fighters indeed. She saluted, acknowledging the orders before turning to her teammates.

She glanced at the other's the Captain had mentioned were going with her. There was Roken-san and another Santo Hei called Kanai (they'd need a proper introduction later). However, the fourth person was no where to be found. Kishou pulled up Camellia's personnel file – using it to get a good look at her face for when they'd finally meet. She caught a glimpse of her rank:

She's our CO then; wonder where she's gotten too...you don't normally miss something as important as the briefing. She paused for a second. "Let's go, Roken-san."

With everyone else already heading towards her stations, and Kanai leaving for the hanger bays, Kishou set off as well. Fully prepared to trace her way down to the hanger in search of the ever elusive Hyuga-class fighter. While she much preferred Power Armour for most operations, the red-headed Neko was intimately familiar with the V4 as well: its glorious speed, the devastating cannons, the sleek body that felt so alien yet so familiar when you linked to the machine!

Kishou could only hope her partners were as trained as she was...or rather, she could only hope they wouldn't see any action if they weren't.

Roken gave the commander a salute and turned to follow Kishou. Roken tried his best to keep up with the quick neko but his strength helped him keep up with her. New ships to for us to break in this is going to be fun Roken thought, Roken hopped he was not the only one looking forward to seeing action.

Roken was a bit surprised that they were short one person, but he was sure they would catch up. "This shouldn't be a bad assignment,â€

"The communications station is now manned." Ichiro said, his screens bringing up all available stations, links, and any needed channels that should be used.

Xanatos sat in his own seat to acknowledge the captain's orders for him. He breathed in slowly to calm himself down and focus. He didn't want any accidents to happen due to his excitement and nervousness. Xanatos looked to the captain just in case she had any more orders.

Caine listened to the reassignment orders as Kiyoko gave them out to the crew, listening intently in fact. There was something about this creepy passage that was making him a bit uneasy about the mission. Once the orders were passed out and everyone went to take their stations Caine himself took his place at Kiyoko's right side in the XO's chair. He was about to get to it and pull up the queue of reports when she addressed him.

The blonde blushed at her a bit and nodded. Cuddled up with you? Who wouldn't sleep well Kiyoko-shosa? He thought to her with a charming yet pleasant little smile.

Flight Deck Pre-launch
Condition Green-Zero

Sleeping obviously was not a possibility; Ritsuko stripped out of her uniform and stepped into the shower, the warm water rushing over every curve of her form-she spun around a few times and turned the water off, and bowed forwards and then snapped back-letting her black hair settle into place, tucking a few strands behind her ears she stepped out of the shower-her bare feet splashing in the small puddles caused by the water dripping off of her. She walked out of the decontamination area and out onto the flight deck; and before a waiting group already inside of their Mindy M2 Armors.

The Takumi Multipurpose bays were huge, spanning the entire aft of the vessel and nearly three deck sections high. "Alright Trainees, It is time to see what you are made of. It's our job to provide internal perimeter patrols for the Yugumo. This means you stay and defend this ship no matter what the hell happens out there. If you break off without my orders I will shoot you down myself.â€

Caine nodded to the enlisted caretaker as he accepted the tea from her and looked at Kiyoko, he felt the need to at least mention his concern to her. Something about this creepy passage wasn't sitting right for some reason. Kiyoko, I don't know what or why this is but I have a bad feeling about this passage. It feels like it's a little too quiet out here, we should be ready for anything. He thought ot her as he be brought up the reports in the queue to see how things were going over the ship.

From the rear of the bridge, Creighton nodded an affirmation to Kiyoko. He had managed to slip into the briefing shortly after everyone else had arrived, creating little commotion. A trick he had learned from his father and his political adventures.

As Kiyoko finished and sent everyone to their stations, Creighton nodded slowly as he watched all of the enlisted scatter to their respective stations. The Chui began to move after the last of the enlisted had settled, humming lowly as he walked.

Approaching the first pilot station the Yamataian stretched out. His body felt stiff and ached slightly. Creighton chalked it up to the lack of sleep and the prodding he had in the medbay. After a few seconds relaxing his muscles, Creighton sat down in a heap.

"Ahhh..." He sighed loudly, taking in the comfort of the seat. Reaching out he touched his fingertips to the control console before him. His eyes opened up as his grin widened. "Yep, this'll be a cinch."

Creighton began to pull up pre-flight diagnostics on his console. As he did so he commented to the enlisted crewmember next to him. "So you're Xanatos? I'll go ahead and assume you've been trained to pilot a ship of this size." He started humming a tune again as he finished keying up the diagnostics.

Creighton then turned to the enlisted caretaker. "Oh, darn and here I was going without my morning coffee. Miss could you please get me a small cup?" Then, finally turning to his copilot Creighton smiled to him. "Nothing big here. Why don't you run a pre-flight control response check? You should be able to get a feel for the Yugumo's controls doing that."

Looking down again Creighton keyed a few commands on his console. "Communications, can you pass along a message to fleet control. Give the Yugumo a wide berth."

Xanatos nodded slowly and finally said, "To tell you the truth, sir, I am not quite exactly qualified to pilot a shuttle, let alone the Yūgumo..." He looked down at the foreign controls of his console and scratched his head lightly.

"Aye, sir." Ichiro said, opening a channel to Fleet control. "Fleet Control, this is the Yugumo. Please give us a wide berth as we go through here. Thank you." he says, keeping it open for confrimations.

Tesuro held his head down as Kiyoko gave him his orders, feeling embarassed with himself for some unknown reason, perhaps ashamed of his thoughts. He nodded to her as she issued his orders, seeing her slight blush, but willed himself to ignore it. Meekly, he responded "Yes, Shosa..." then immediately made his way to the Science station. You could have at least smiled at her, he thought, scolding himself again.

The task he was given was simple and he had no issues at his console. The appropriate displays and charts appeared around him, taking note of each one. He opened up a communication and tracking with the Hyuga, paying special attention to it in the event that something go awry. As the tray came to him, he did not say a word and waved the enlisted off. He appeared focused on his work, but most of his mind was devoted to what he was going to do about Kiyoko. The self-confidence he had gotten after their meeting had completely dissipated the moment he laid eyes on her, and he could not figure out why.

Upon reaching the launching bay, Kiyoe walked to her assigned fighter, taking a moment to admire it before entering. While she loved the visceral feeling of hand-to-hand combat, there was just something downright cooler about fighting in a spaceship, she had to admit. It's like a big... ... dagger... thing, she decided. It wasn't exactly poetic, but it was the most profound thing she could come up with at 5 AM.

When she'd finished admiring its daggery thing traits, she slid into the cockpit and secured the roof, then triggered its warm-up sequence and leaned back to wait for the rest of the group to be ready.

The launch bay opened up before Kishou as she entered the hanger. Busy, busy was the name of the game: maintenance crews dashing this way and that, a flight of Mindy's streaking into outer space, urgent shouting. She breathed deep, casting a glance towards the quartet of Hyuga. She streaked over. A light blinked on the side of one, its hatch slid back with a hiss – staying open just long enough for Kishou to flip effortlessly into the cockpit. It closed with a muted thud...the air around her pressurizing. She closed her eyes to the dull light that passed through the craft's solitary window.

It sprung to life.

Displays lit around her, the command console slid from hits hiding place and brushed her fingertips and SPINE made its connection as Kishou slid back into the chair. Her hands flitted out and tapped instinctively at each button in turn. Her mind doing a thousand more operations in the background.

"Hyuga, prepare to launch; run system diagnostic and confirm flight readiness. Good morning by the way.â€

"Eh?" Was Creighton's only response to Xanatos. He paused to look the other man in the eyes after finishing another pre-launch check. He looked at Xanatos with one eyebrow raised but a muted expression. After several seconds of silence, Creighton chuckled.

"No worries. Yugumo pull up a tutorial program for our companion here. Specifically the pre-launch checks." Creighton keyed up his own console to display a similar program. The display in front of Xanatos activated and began to form a series of queries and windows. A stat gauge appeared to the right of the windows.

"Alright with pre-flight diagnostics you need to check output levels of the ship systems and make sure they're within safe parameters." Creighton moved his attention to his own display, which had a similar setup to Xanatos'. He ran his finger down the stat gauge, mumbling as he did so, until he stopped on the aether power systems. Tapping the name the windows on his left arranged themselves with a series of charts and questions. "Just answer a few of these questions and that system is checked for launch." Creighton tapped in that the system was running at green, max output was not met upon activation, engineering report was green, and that connections between the generators and its capacitors was green. "And there complete. Simple, eh?" As Creighton spoke to Xanatos, a green square appeared next to the aether powerplant text and the windows closed themselves, awaiting the next test.

"Why don't you try one for yourself." He said as he cracked his neck from side to side. He performed another check on the auxiliary powerplant. As he did so he began humming a tune again until he finished. "Science why don't you give the sensors a ping on all spectrums. Testing connection to the pilot stations. No rush though."

Good thing I asked for a wide berth... Creighton thought off-hand as he keyed up the pre-launch sensor test.

Xanatos nodded silently. He understood what Creighton had told him, and now he went to work on all the pre-launch checks. The tutorial helped a lot, and he was able to finish up all of the checks very quickly. Everything seemed normal and green. Xanatos sighed and said softly, "Pre-flight checks complete." He hoped that he was doing a good job.

Camellia made it to the Hanger within record time. Walking briskly over to the ships, Camellia looked around and noticed two people were already in their fighters. Taking a second, she scowled and grumbled. "Damn rookies."

Pausing near the one who didn't jump into their fighters, she pulled her communicator from her pocket and began to talk. "Ok, you two, shut down and get out of there. Now." She paused as she looked over at the smarter enlisted soldier, and nodded briskly. "That's a direct order from a superior officer."

Kishou saw Camellia before she heard her. A bit late, but arriving was better than not arriving at all. Still, she sounded a bit annoyed which was odd all things considered...couldn't be helped at any rate. With all systems showing green like they should, Kishou disconnected from the Hyuga and opened the hatch. The neko flew up from the cockpit and came to a gliding stop before her wing leader.

"Hai, Chui. Glad to see you've made it, didn't think you were coming.â€

Camellia's expression was unreadable, mainly due to her hair, but also because she was just looking at Kishou as neutraly as one would look at a piece of bad art. Jerking a thumb to the two standing soldiers, Camellia muttered, "No snappy remarks, and form up." She also made a point to ignore Roken.

That left one person left, who as also powering up their ship. Camellia decided to wait another minute.
