Maya then gave Hotaru a telepathic communicae . "Hey, turn around and go back, this race might be fun."

Listening to Maya, Hotaru thought it was a fun idea. Turning around, she headed back and drew level with Kazuma's STV. Revving the engine a few times, she looks over at Kazuma and says, "Ready?".

Kazuma made sure anyone interested in the fun was ready, and shouted
3,
2,
1.

On one, he floored it, feeling the tires skipping before they caught the ground and propelled them forwards. The first obstacle was fairly large river. There was a shallow region to the left of the cars about 300 yards away, but that would mean losing time going around. Straight ahead, however, was fairly deep water with a cliff face right before the river. The only way over at that point would be to jump the river. If they didn't make it, the river wasn't deep enough to cause them to sink, but it would require a significant amount of time to get back into the race, having to find a spot without a cliff to get out.

As Hotaru was busy revving the engine and waiting for the race to begin Maya had a thought. She turned to Hotaru and placed her hand on her shoulder and began communicating to her telepathically. "Hotaru, I have an idea, if were going to try and win this race I think we need to find ways to increase the odds in our favor and that means using every weapon available in our arsenal. I'm going to make a direct telepathic link between us so that we can share sensory data with each other, basically everything I see you'll be able to see as well as your own and vice versa, maybe the increased sensory perception will help with the road ahead. I'm also going to try and use that same telepathic link to share my knowledge of vehicle operation with you to enhance your own. This could also result in sharing brain power and increasing response time, two minds working as one. I'm willing to give this a go if you are. If you have any ideas as well you better tell me now."

Hotaru replied with a grin, "Thats a great idea. Better than any I can think of at the moment. Will let you know if I have any epiphanies."

Hearing Kazuma give the countdown, Hotaru sent to Maya, "Get ready, Kazuma is starting the countdown. Which do you want to try: follow Kazuma for a little bit or do our damndest to get ahead and stay there?"

When she heard "1", Hotaru floored the pedal and felt satisfaction when the STV started gripping before shooting forward, level with Kazuma.

"Catapult me." Strelgar cackled, a simple plan. "I want to fly and land onto their horse," Strelgar moved his hand making an ark. "Seems insane does it, well it will work all we need is a good trajectory angle. Try to force them to stay even, when the horse flies. I will fly also, making an insane attempt."

Strelgar snapped his neck, then nodding in reassurance. "Notice this little Kazuma, I am going to win, and by fair rules of conflict technique." He started laughing looking forward to the event.

Maya looked at Hotaru and smiled "Just floor it! Maybe we can jump that cliff up ahead over the river. We need to get some distance between us and everyone else."

Grinning, Hotaru replied "Your wish is my command. Hold tight!"

As she sent that thought, Hotaru manouvered the STV so they were aiming directly for the cliff while still accelerating. Just as the STV left firm ground, Hotaru had some kind of compulsion to yell out, "YEEHAA!!!".

'I'm fine" Kuriko nodded as she spoke, "You just hot the pressure point a little hard, that's all." she said as she climbed into the STV. "Let's go!" Kuriko said, her voice seemed a little more enthusiastic as she spoke.

Kazuma's start was close to perfectly timed with Hotaru's acceleration. Both cars launched off the grass, taking a small amount of time uprooting it until the ground was firm enough to give the tires grip. Both cars sped towards the river, allowing only an arm's gap between the racing vehicles.

As they reached the edge of the cliff, Kazuma nudged the opposing car slightly to alter its landing, causing it to land slightly sideways and to slip on the opposing bank. The simple maneuver caused Kazuma's car to be ahead by only around 10 feet.

As for Kuriko's car, they did not start right on time from being delayed and were about 3 seconds behind the farthest car.

Soon, the path became a rocky forest area, with a few different means of passing. First, dodging the trees would be difficult and would loose speed, but has the shortest distance, about 50 meters off. At least two more open areas were available but were longer methods and went off course about 400 meters each. They would be the safest and obviously most discouraged route. Laced with rocks, there was the option of following the river which did go off about 100 meters, but that was if you were willing to drive in the water, risking sinking or slipping. Right down the center path was a cliff, with at least a 30 foot drop, if not more. Common sense would generally disagree with this path, but what does it know?

Strelgar jumped from the seat when the vehicles flew up in the air. As he landed and rolled far away from the wheels of the vehicles. "VilgOui," he muttered as he started back towards the fortress located somewhere back the way he came.

The desire to leave burned in him, I couldn't care any more than I did when I came here. "You little Kazuma will be forgotten." He muttered, as he began the long jog back to gather his things. "I lost my self in this, I regret this almost more than watching my mother being killed." I need to repress this stupid memory better yet forget. With that Strelgars course was set, he chose to leave. Now all that remained was the leaving part.

Krasus took off as well, hitting the accelerator on the STV and lurching the car forward.
He intended to jump the river as he came to it... flooring the accelerator and hoping for the best, he tried the jump.

Satomi as well began, a bit late, being essentially an armor pilot, she had never bothered to download the proper knowledge of driving a 4WD vehicle correctly. Eventually figuring it out, she floored it and headed straight towards the river cliff, a few lengths behind Krasus.

Just after Hotaru shouted, she felt something hit the STV. Not bothering to look at what it was, she concentrated on not messing up the landing. However, with that contact in mid-air, Hotaru and Maya landed off center, sliding till she managed to regain control, seeing Kazuma edge in front.

Hotaru communicated with Maya, "He must be crazy to try something like that. Any ideas on how to get him back?"

Looking ahead, Hotaru saw the path become a rocky forested area with only a few different means of passing. Quickly deciding to take the shortest route was a gamble, no matter how dangerous. Hotaru knew dodging the trees would be difficult and they would loose some speed, but hoped that the gamble paid off.

Maya was still trying to hold steady after that semi-rough landing.

"Is he mad!? I think Kazuma wants to play rough. Wish I had an EMP grenade or something." Suddenly Maya had an idea. "Hotaru! Do you think you can drive up close enough to Kazuma's rear side to give him a pit maneuver? That should temporally spin him out of control while we blast on ahead into the lead. Do you think you can do it? If not then I leave to your discretion, I trust you." She then place's a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"Hmmm, I think that could be arranged. It'll be tricky on this terrain, but no harm in trying." replied Hotaru with a grin.

Hotaru glanced over towards where Kazuma was, and started edging towards him, avoiding various obstacles. It took several attempts, but Hotaru managed to gain on him, while keeping the positioning long enough to nudge the rear quarter of Kazuma's STV, while still retaining control of her own.

Strelgars Exit

Strelgar walked calmly into the Fort, as he got into his lock box and pulled out all his belongings. Yawned, and put all of them into the ruck sack just long enough to hide his weapons and gear. "Later guys," He chuckled as he slid on his Gauntlet. "Ahhhhh-" Strelgar exhaled, as he locked away the most previous events. He stood there a little confused, as he headed forwards trying to find the quickest way over to the recruiters office. All the events that had happened, he now didn't remember any of it except one name. "K-a-z-u-m-a," Strange name, well they can't hold me here. After all I am a mercenary after all.

Leaving towards the nearest port where he could find the orders office and swiftly go to the weird named ship he saw on the list of warships needing staff. "I guess I go to the black abyss mother, I am actually excited!" He exclaimed quietly, while finding the fastest way to head to where he was going.

The dirt on the jump was severely cut down after being mowed down by the faster cars. Krasus's car did not jump far enough and landed with the two front wheels on the ground and the two back wheels hanging off the edge by a few feet. The car's front tires managed to pull the car up, but not before Satomi's car flew past on his side, only getting a little slower on the landing. He'd have to get lucky to catch back up, but all it would take is one mistake.

Hotaru's car managed to get to the side of Kazuma's car, but before the move was started, Kazuma took note and tried to break away. He managed to break off the the side, but this caused him to go through a series of trees then into the shallow river. He regained control of his vehicle and got back on track, probably fallen behind his foes by now.

Strelgar was escorted to one of the transport trips by one of the instructors. The instructor didn't talk expect when giving instructions and left as soon as the ship departed.

Maya look back at Kazuma's vehicle as it broke off to the side trying to avoid Hotaru's pit maneuver through some foliage and into the river buying Hotaru and Maya the few precious seconds needed to take the lead. Maya was ecstatic jumping up and down in her seat and then giving Hotaru a quick hug but being careful enough as to not break her concentration from driving. "Hotaru-chan you did it! Not exactly what should have happened but it worked all the same! Now all we have to do is increase the pace to stay in the lead and be careful and keep a look out for all the others who might try the same with us because I think we may have set in motion a dangerous precedent."

Laughing to herself as she saw Kazuma go fishing, Hotaru replied to Maya’s ‘path, "Increase the pace!? I like how you think! Hopefully we shouldn’t have too many problems with the others, we’ll just have to have constant vigilance until the finish. Remind me to ask Kazuma to save us some fish after his side trip."

Gunning the throttle, the two Nekos prepared themselves for whatever cropped up next.

Satomi laughed as she peeled away from Krasus, noting that minor bumps were easy to shake off. She continued flooring the gas pedal, still mentally going over the instructions on how to drive.seeing no harm in it, she decided to follow the previous vehicles through the woods, duking and dodging trees just a bit faster than the manual said she should.

Kail stood in front of the PA hangar, waiting for the recruits. It was a nice bit of downtime before the armor sim. Even with all that metal, and using rubber bullets, a few recruits ALWAYS got themselves hurt, and a couple instructors usually took headshots and had nice naps. There was something about this new class of students she was teaching, she could tell they were a bit more eager than the other classes, if possibly not as skilled. Of course, that's what she was here for; to give them the skills they'd need.
