Saito took off with the others, settling into a steady pace that left her situated somewhere around fourth or fifth in the group, meaning she arrived somewhere around a minute and a half after Ramiro and Aendri. After pausing to catch her breath, she took her backpack off and walked into the mess hall after the others, still breathing a bit heavily from the run. She got in line behind the others to get her food, planning on getting some spaghetti, a side salad, and milk when she could.

Osaka barely made it to the line in time and received a Spaghetti and water for her efforts. She found an open spot and placed her backpack strategically next to her chair and her bowl in front of said chair which she then sat on. After a minute of what TV show the spaghetti reminded her of, she began to eat without touching her water saving it for later.

Ramiro grabbed a plate full of spaghetti, some cream corn, and a glass of milk. He followed Aendri and sat down across the table from him. He picked up his fork and stirred his noodles a bit. "This sauce seems rather powdery. With all the money going to the war effort it looks like they don;t have time to properly feed the recruits." After his moment of complaining Ramiro started eating.

Aendri grinned toothily at him through a mouthful of hamburger. After swallowing, he paused in his eating to say, "That's why I went with this. I learned long ago military food should have as little liquid as possible, for edibility reasons." He took another bite, reasoning that the lukewarm burger would be much better lukewarm then cold.

Saito looked down at her food with a slight look of disgust. She played with the stringy food before forcing it into her mouth with a foul looking following. She thought back to her dorm life and shrugged it off, moving on to debating the salads worth.

Osaka had her mind wondering how things were at home, wondering if her sister would actually be taller than herself someday. Before she knew it her bowl and drink were empty as she noted with a sigh. The lock of untamed hair bounced as she looked up at the roof began to stare into space as she retreated into her thoughts, to think of it, I always seem to be thinking of the past, I never thought about what is ahead... hmm what is going to happen after lunch is over? Are we going to sleep or train how to kill bad guys? Or maybe learn how to die? I think I'd pass on the dieing, I don't know how painful a Soul Transfer would be...

After everyone was finished eating Ramiro stood up and addressed the many recruits. "Alright everyone! Here's how this is going to work. All of you will be place into groups and assigned to a certain pair of instructors that you will do field exercises with. All classroom learning will be done in large group. The following students will be paired with me, Michi-Hei and Katomi-Hei. The rest of you find you instructors and head to the barracks on the left side of the parade courtyard, inspection is in 15 minutes!" Immediately recruits started scrambling around, figuring out they're assignment, and heading over to the barracks.

Osaka was leaning back in her chair listening to the announcement but only caught her name before everyone began to hurry out to someplace. She lay on her back for a second before realizing that she might have to be doing something and so climbed back on the table and asked, "Commander, what should I be doing again?"

"You should be scrambling your butt to the barracks. And that's an order!" Ramiro smiled a bit as he watched the chaos around the room. He leaned over to his associate and said, "I do love watching worried recruits scramble around like headless chickens."

"It is entertaining, I must admit. I seem to recall a bit of that in my class as well though, so it's to be expected." Aendri frowned slightly. "Though, I would have expected most of them to have settled down with the war going on and all." He finished his food shortly after that, and promptly drained his water as well. No point in leaving anything behind, regardless of the quality.

Saito watched as the recruits panicked and felt her heart rate raise as the orders were barked at her to get herself to the barracks in a hurry and to unpack. She did just that. She grabbed her bags from under the table and rushed out with the herd of scared recruits herself included. Saito did not want to disappoint.

"Well get a move on!" Ramiro yelled to Osaka. "You don't have all day!" He looked over at his partner and said, "We should probably start heading over." Ramiro walked out of the mess hall and started making his way over to the barracks. "5 minutes and counting!" Ramiro yelled loud enough so the recruits inside could here his voice through the open windows.

Osaka snapped out of her reverie and snatched her bag up and ran for the others when the commander snapped at her slow moving Neko rear. She became the last to enter the Barracks and really had no time to unpack. Rather she had only enough time to stand in front of the place she was going sleep at before time was up.

Ramiro leaned over to Aendri and said, "When we get in there for inspection, you take the left row and I'll take the right." Ramiro walked into the barracks and up to the second floor where the recruits were staying. He walked down the hall to one of the main housing areas. Inside were two rows of bunks on either wall, stretching back with six bunks per row. He paused outside the room, took a deep breath, and then stepped into the room. "ATTENTION!!! Inspection time!"

The last one to stand at attention was Osaka, who was trying to get something out of her pack before the commanders showed up. The Neko managed to get to attention only 2 seconds after everyone else, and somehow had managed to have panties on her head when she stood up in attention. She looked serious like she didn't notice them there, and probably hadn't registered to her yet.

Saito hurried into the barracks with the rest of the group, struggling to get all of her stuff put away neatly before the inspection got to her. She finished just before the officers got there.

~~

Aendri nodded in agreement. He paused to let Ramiro enter before him, wincing inside at the volume the other man projected into the barracks. He gave the recruits a few seconds to scramble up to attention at their bunks before he started down the left side. For the most part, he took it easy on them, since it was their first day, though there were still a few cases where he stopped and made the recruit fix something before he moved on.

Ramiro slowly made his way down the line, glancing at his clipboard to see who he was inspecting at that moment, and periodically leaning in to to get a closer look at something. About halfway down the line he paused and glanced at hid clipboard. "Kit-Hei, you're hereby transferred to my training group." He continued down the line until he was only a couple people from the end. He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to find an ignorant neko with panties on her head. He glanced at his clipboard and then leaned his face in only inches from hers. "Katomi-Hei, DID YOU COME ALL THE WAY FROM KETSURUI JUST TO PISS ME OFF?"

She first looked like she was scared but she pulled herself together and saluted, "No Sir! ..." she said loudly, however her saluting hand bumped into something on her head, she tugged on it wondering what it was before taking it off.

Osaka quickly hid the article of clothing behind her while bowing and begging, "My apologies Sir! Please forgive me for being an idiot Sir!" Remaining bow posture she had her eyes closed in case the commander was going to take a shot at her, Dear Starlog , today is my first battle would, trama to the head...

While her mind apparently foresaw her demise.

"Yes, Sir!" Yoshiko said, saluting the Heisho at the same time.

"Also Sir, Yoshiko prefers being called by her last name, Sir".

Ramiro contemplated the workings around him. "Hmmm... Yoshiko-Hei, duly noted. Katomi-Hei, this is your single warning. If the military wasn't so desperate for soldiers you would be in a lot of trouble, but since command would get mad if a scared recruits away I'll let you off, this time." Ramiro looked at his watch and the addressed the room. "The time is 2300, all personnel will be awake, dressed, and in the parade grounds for an 0600 flag ceremony ever morning proceeded by breakfast. Unless my esteemed colleague has any comments, you are all to turn in." Ramiro nodded to Aendri to indicate that he had the floor for comments, and then turned and head over to his room for some sleep.
