After a few moments more of her hand being held than she would have preferred, Ianna released Devonus' grasp, wondering what that had been behind his eyes, exactly. Whatever it was, getting close to this man did not seem a good idea. "I'll give you two leave, then" Ianna muttered politely, a small smile and bow escaping her before she retreated to her bunk.

Slowly, the lights in the room began dimming, one by one winking out, until most of the room was wreathed in darkness. There were a few small lights left on, providing just enough light for still-active recruits to work quietly by, but not enough to do anything serious. This was obviously the barracks' own way of telling them it was time to sleep.

He didn't even realize he was still holding her hand till it slipped away and she left. A few befuddled thoughts slipped through his head as he realized his obvious lapse in cognitive abilities. what the... ah crap... but... ah never mind. He finally snapped out of it when Sil spoke, a witty comment about Captains fixing the ship, and had brief chuckle at the idea.
"How right you are, as a matter...." the lights began to dim around him and he looked up and then at the time..."ah, never mind, I'll see you tomorrow Silic" He quickly turned away to climb into bed, and as he dozed off he couldn't help but feel that he had some how ostracized himself from those two...Must be nerves.... but why am i nervous?....But... and his last thought drifted off into the land of nightmares and past sins, his own self wrought hell.

“Yeah, sleep tight man.” farewelled Sil, his mind already turning back his other hand, he just hoped they served coffee in the morning. Settling himself in front of the sheet of canvas on the bed and went back to work, quietly as possible so the others could sleep his mind ticking along “...strange jar of pickles this class, we’ll see what happens in the morning. Now, about that striped gear...”

At roughly 4:30 AM, local time, all hell broke loose. It started with a light rumble, as if from outside, that slowly grew louder. the lighter sleepers would notice this, but any deep sleepers would never know it had preceded what came next.

It was only Flash Bangs, at first, but it was a lot of Flash Bangs. they appeared to be raining from the ceiling, going off everywhere, creating a huge screen of smoke and blinding those unlucky enough to open their eyes. Next, gravity turned off and anything that wasn't bolted down began floating around the room, beginning to spin, bunks, recruits, footlockers, all banging into each other, bouncing off walls and creating a horrible ruckus. Third, through the hazy smoke came a hail of small objects, rocks, marbles, chunks of rubber, trash, all flinging about the room. Finally, Gravity returned, dumping the contents of the room back on the ground in a disorderly fashion.

This completed, a lazy male voice called out over the loudspeaker "You have five minutes to be on parade rest in the courtyard. No one leaves the room till it's spotless. Good day."

Yaeko, being the girly girl that she is, woke up immediately, but fortunately wasn't looking at the flash bangs. She screamed loudly, thinking they were under attack. When things started lifting up she tried to jump off of her bed, but still remained in the air. She was very scared and, still screaming, pulled herself back onto the bed. When they were told the room had to be spotless she immediately jumped up and, at an alarming rate, started making whichever beds happened to be unoccupied.

Silic was working slowly by the miniscule light from his small head lamp, his eyes droopy and fingers shaking as he finished putting the last component on his middle finger. “There all done.” he thought as he put the finger down on the canvas spread, blearily looking at the time 04:28. “I’ll just close my eyes,” he thought as his head sunk down onto the bed "just for a bit before putting it all back together...” he began snoring lightly the moment his head touched the covers.

It wasn’t long before the rumbling started, and by the time Sil regained some form of conscious he was laying with his back to the floor with a large bruise from landing on his head and the contents of his toolkit flung everywhere. Still dazed Sil began trying to stand up “Hey if anyone sees a finger its mine...” he managed before promptly falling back onto the ground, his face flat against the floor looking under his bed where his fingerless robotic hand lay “Well, it’s a start...

Devonus heard the soft gentle rumblings of the flash bang as it skittered under his bed. His eyes darted open as he realized what he was hearing. As the soft ping of the flash bang striking the post closest to his head reached Devonus's ears, he instinctively cringed and barely had time to think the words oh shit. before the flash bang turned his sleepy blurriness to a blinding haze that could have easily been the light of heaven or the center of the flames of hell.

When he finally realized that the deafening ring in his ears was not the choir of heaven. Heavenly choir... ha... more like the scream of the damned in hell if anything. he made the connection between the two as survival instincts took over and he wiped away the light and regained his hearing. As the ghostly spots slowly vanished from across his eyes and the dull sound of talking pierced the ringing, his stunned mind pieced together the facts of what had truly happened. Just in time to hear the orders to get the room cleaned and be out in five.

Then the chittering chat of excited nekos drifted through Devonus's brain and the surreal moment came to a close as his mind caught up with reality and he moved into action. How the heck did this stuff move, these lockers are heavy as hell...

He moved to help a nearby near neko make a bed. She was his type of girl small and petite, not taking after some of the more recent fads of neko's having larger then realistic chests. But what really struck him first was her bright beautiful blue eyes that seemed to glow with an innocence so rarely found these day.My own seemed like a bottom less deep blue well to hell, At least he thought so when he looked in the mirror. But he was getting off track. He still could not figure out what had happened to toss the crap around." Konichwa,so what happened here."

Sil hastily reattached is hand and lower forearm back to the rest of his body, the locks sliding together smoothly with a sharp click, mostly due to Sil's recent maintenance than any impressive engineering. “One down, five more to go.” he thought, pushing himself off the floor and shakily onto his feet and surveyed the damage. With his head scanning the room slowly all he could say was “Either this is really happening or I haven't been this messed up since that party back in twenty-five!” they'd found him floating face down in a toilet a week later, not even he was sure what had happened back then.

Shaking his head to clear it, he began collecting the scattered tools laying around, and looking for his fingers. Somehow he felt it would be undignified to report for parade without a full set of digits, that or some officer would probably make a point of ordering him to perform some menial task requiring two hands, he wouldn't put it past them. “Got to be around here somewhere...

Yoshiko stirred at the light rumbling sound, she opened her eyes just as the first Flash Bang went off. Shrieking she closed her eyes right away and coverd her ears, just barely fast enough to keep from getting blinded and deafened.

Then she started floating out of her bunk. Now fully awake she steadied herself using her Neko Grav abilities and looked around at the chaos in the room. "Wow, that's one heck of a Morning Reveille." Yoshiko said to no one in particular as she looked over to the clock to see what ungodly hour they had been awakened at.

Once Gravity was restored Yoshiko floated back over to her bunk, after hearing the announcement, and started making it. This completed she looked around to see what else needed cleaning up and went to it.

Silic was shuffling through the junk on the floor, anything that looked familiar was quickly spirited away into a pocket, while the rest of the stuff was tossed into a bin someone had thoughtfully set up three feet away. So far he’d recovered most of his tools, a thumb and a pinkie, that last one still squeaked a bit whenever it flexed despite his care. He moved in a sort of duck waddle, both feet on the ground knees out as he single-mindedly scanned the floor before chucking a piece over his shoulder and into the bin, banging off the side as it went in. “Knew I should have gone for an upgrade...” he muttered to himself angrily, whether he was referring to his eyes or his hand was unclear as another piece of scrap clanged its way into the bin.

The other recruits joined in, Busily righting bunks and footlockers, making the beds and replacing everything where it went. the clock continued ticking, but within three minutes the room looked fairly close to how it was supposed to. Now all that was left to do were the finishing touches, and to get dressed ready and present themselves outside.

And they had two minutes in which to do it.

After finishing with everything else Yaeko straightened up her own bunk and then quickly changed. Once in full uniform she sauntered her way out of the room. Once out of the room she saw an officer who looked like he was supposed to be inspecting the recruits. Yaeko immediately jumped to attention and bowed.

You cannot be serious,” Thought Silic furiously as he rummaged under his bed for the fifth time “Come on, they only floated away when some wise-crack turned the gravity off, they can’t have got far.” Grunting he hauled his way through the underside of the bed, his head sticking out one side, his feet the other. “Hey, Ianna! Have you seen my fingers?” he shouted, propping himself on his elbows.

The Green Power Armor pilot trainee looked up from her recently righted bunk, which was looking pristine by now, and turned to Silic "I Believe some were thrown in the trash bin, but I'm not certain about the others. Don't worry about it now, the Star Army can get you a replacement"

After that, she looked back at her handiwork and, satisfied, marched out of the barracks, following Yaeko to the parade grounds, where a black-haired Yamatain with a Juni pin and dark aviators seemed to be waiting for them.

Muttering angrily about throwing out perfectly good fingers, Sil crawled from under the bed, caught in indecision between finding his fingers or following the others. Finally his feet pulled him towards the door telling himself “It’s a trash can, it’s not going anywhere, right? Right?” as he followed Ianna out the door and onto the parade ground.

After tossing the last of the flotsam in the bin Yoshiko looked at the clock to see how much time was left, and jumped when she noted there was less than a minute.

She scrambled quickly to get into her uniform, which fortunately was a one-piece jumpsuit, and bolted out the door for the grounds, trying not to knock anyone over as she went.
