"Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!," the NH-29 stuttered, complaining in a very whiny tone as Asher grabbed her by the errant tuft of hair that stuck out the top of her head and dragged her across and over the table. "Stop grabbing Ringo's weak spot Itto-Hei Sempai!" she begged as he tugged her along towards the barracks. As he let go, she held on to the top of her head with both her hands. "It's very dangerous grabbing Ringo's source of power like that nya," she continued on, following after the short Yamataian man.

As they caught up to the rest of the crowd, Ringo listened to Asher berate the newly enlisted Sil, watching as he got his fake hand stuck and looking over at Asher to see what her would do about this developing situation.

Yaeko followed Yoshiko over to the bunk that she had chosen. Yaeko dropped her stuff on the bottom bunk and then sat down. She started unpacking the essentials onto her bed: pink blanket, a pink pillow, a teddy bear, and a picture of her family which she placed next to the bed. "Just like home," she said admiringly. "So do you suppose they have anything for us to do before we turn in?"

Asher placed his face in his palm for a second or two, trying figure out one way to do this bloodlessly. Of course, the Itto-Hei's first idea was to get some laser device and removed the man's arm in one, quick brutal slice. Though, his superior would look down on him for that, and of course, there would still be the matter of removing the hand from the rail. The Yamataian's hand lowered from his face for a second.

"Y'know, I'm glad we're covering this now. Y'gettin' y'first lesson, now." Asher growled, and looked at Ringo.

"Ey, Granny Smith, keep him company until I get back with somethin' to detach his arm from that bar." The Instructor ordered the girl and then looked back at Sil.

"Y'got til' I get back to remove that had from tha' bar, or iss' becomin' the newest addition to tha' handrail." He said darkly, before turning and leaving for the moment.

Sils face tightened as he wondered if the Ittô Hei was being serious or not, one look at his face was enough to convince Sil not to chance it. Still braced with his feet on the wall he started trying to thrash his hand back into gear, or take out a section of the handrail as long as it got him out of this mess. “Hey Apple Child, you got a screw driver? Knife? Something?!?” the stress raising the pitch of his voice quite noticeably.

Before he strode off, Ringo tilted her head at Asher with a questioning look on her face. "But Ringo is not Obaasan," she protested. Looking at the Nepleslian as one would consider an unknown and strange animal. "Why do you have a fake arm nya?" she asked bluntly. "Why not grow a new arm or get a better body, like Ringo's?"

“Because it wasn’t covered under my insurance.” said Sil, as he tried to pry open a small panel just behind his wrist “Now if you don’t mind I’d like to keep my body in as many pieces as when I arrived!” not helping with the animal impression by resorting to his teeth to try and open the panel.

Asher's voice rang back into the room from the outside of the Barracks, "Hey, buddy, y'got y'hand unstuck yet?"

The Instructor walked in with a fusion cutter in hand, the cutting tool already activated.

"Cause it's gunna be eitha' you, or da'bar."

Another voice called out from behind Asher "That shouldn't be necessary, Westwood-Hei, you can turn it off for now." If everyone would turn around they would see the Juni, Kail Tarrim walking into the room, a small metal tool in her hands. She pushed Asher's hand out of the way, and brushed past, stopping when she had arrived at Sil. Silently, she went to work on the hand, using the small tool to adjust parts of the hand, getting stuck bits of railing out of gears and whatnot, and in moments, the hand was free. "Now get to the bunks, Recruit. it's almost curfew." the Juni said, leaving without another word.

Asher sighed for a moment and flipped the Fusion Cutter with his hands. He seemed to disapprove of Kail's tampering with the situation.

"Eh, y'neva' let me have any fun." Asher grunted.

Ringo just stared in amazement as Kail went to work. "すげい!" she breathed in amazement as her hemosynth eyes tried to follow along with the speed of the older neko's work. "先生はすげいにゃ!" she said again, thoroughly entranced by Kail's speed and accuracy.

=======
すげい! - Sugei! - "Amazing!"
先生はすげいにゃ! - Sensei wa sugei nya! - "Teacher is amazing meow!"

“Perhaps Ojouchan could lend a hand as well next time?” said Sil in Yamataian as he recovered from the shock of seeing Asher with a fusion cutter in his hand, damn that man moves fast, his sarcasm quite evident from the look he directed at Ringo. As his hand came free Sil fell on his back and bounced down a few stairs before coming to rest sprawled face down over three or four stairs, a small groan emanating from his unmoving body.

Slowly he got up, a hand soothing the back of his head gently as got to his feet “Thanks for the save there Ma’am, parts are hard to come by around here.” with a slight bow to Kail. Straightening he looked at the remains of the hand rail “Uh, I can fix that...” he said, pointing nervously at the imprints of his fingers.

"Ojouchan" - Used by thugs eyeing up a pretty lady

Yoshiko unceremoniously dumped the contents of her duffel bag into one of the footlockers at the end of the bunks, looking back at Yaeko when she asked her question. "Yoshiko remembers the Juni saying 'Once you're unpacked, you may turn in for the night.' so there shouldn't anything to do until the morning" Said Yoshikp in answer to the earlier question. She then hopped up onto the top bunk, rolling onto her side to face Yaeko, "How long do you think they'll let us sleep for?" Yoshiko asked as she looked around for a clock.

The clock was in the center of the room, on the wall opposite, but still in clear view. It Read 20:17, or 8:17pm, Local time. Yamatai and Nepleslia standard times were way off this, so the Nepleslians and Geshrin were probably a bit off on their sleeping schedules, but Nekovalkyrja would have no problems adjusting and it would only be an inconvenience for Yamataians.

All around Yaeko and Yoshiko's bunk, they could see that the others were doing about the same, duffels emptied into foot lockers, most of the recruits were already in their bunks, trying to go to sleep. The amount of mindless chitterring had gone down, as well.

“Well, first things first...”said Sil quietly as he took a close look at his prosthetic hand, a few gears shifted and the thing spat a few sparks at his face as though it were alive, causing Sil to jerk back like it was a wild animal. Sighing, began trudging up stairs, he had a long night ahead of him.

Asher followed behind Sil, and kicked him in the rear as the man trudged up the stairs.

"Speed it up, slow-mo, Double-Time!" Asher growled at the man as encouraged him to pick up the pace. He looked back over at Ringo.

"Ey! Granny Smith, you too, quit ogglin' Boss Blue there and get you apple saucy ass up here with the rest of'm." He said, thumbing up to top of the stairs.

Sil catapulted forward from the kick in the rear, disappearing up the stairs like his ass was on fire, the distinct cry of “-did not sign up for this cr-!!” fading out as he scuttled off.

"了解!" Ringo replied, saluting the short Yamataian man and then bowing to Kail before heading up the stairs energetically to find a place to sleep.

=======
了解 - Ryokai - "Understood!"

As soon as he was up the stairs Sil stopped to rub what would surely be bruise in the morning, “What does that guy wear, steel caps or something?” he thought to himself as he walked to the barracks room limping slightly.

"I don't know", Yaeko told Yoshiko, "but just in case we had better turn in." She rolled over and picked her diary out of her bag, then dropped the back into her locker. She started writing in the diary as she did every night and once she was finished she dropped her diary in the locker and went off to bed. "Goodnight Yoshiko-Chan"

Asher stepped down from the stairs and walked over to Kail. Seeing now that the recruits were finding their places, he felt there wasn't much need to keep an eye on them.

"Well ma'am, the kids are finding their rooms, what now?" Asher asked his taller counterpart.
