"Perhaps." she allowed, still curious about how this mission would turn out. She found it odd that Taisa Rufus Sydney would have been called to commandeer a scout ship when he could have had done a most-likely better job with the Sakura, with a familliar crew and all.

It was probably not a good idea to second-guess headquarters, but she did so not out of malice, but out of a desire to understand the higher workings of the Star Army.

"So," she hunched forward a bit further and pressed her fingers deeply in the flesh of his shoulders before she released gradually with a caress of her thumb and forefingers. "You mentioned that you still needed to sort out the bunk assignment for the power armor pilots. Does that mean you haven't looked at my file yet?"

"Actually, I don't believe I have. You're new...Mmmmmm...from the training facilities so I didn't find your...mmmm...packet last time I glanced over the personnel records," Rufus said, the massage barely allowing him to think straight. "What sort of skills do you have?" he asked, with a little bit of a naughty giggle.

Tom grinned.

"Damn straight. Letem psychoanalyze me all I want, I haven't changed one bit. Unfortunately, that may be crazy enough for them. Who knows?"

Tom ruffled through the stock for some items.

"Yeah, but if you want to get your ass off the fire that I put us in, you'd help me do some cooking. What do you think everyone would like?"

Kotori's fingers traced abstract curves over the length of the man's arms as she bent over to placed her lips next to his right ear. Her dark hair, like a silky curtain, brushed over his neck and shoulders.

"Well, I'm a NH-22M that can clean, cook, massage, pilot Mindys and generally kick butt." she offered as way of explanation.

Mizuho emerged somewat cleaner, and significantly less dazed, from her chambers. She even wore uniform, for the first time in a very long while, though she would not wear it for long. As long as formality called for. Suzi had politely informed her that Kestral would not be commanding for some time, that a man named Rufus Sydney would take his place for the time.

So she determined it her responsibility to find this Rufus Sydney. Taisa, he was. One more that military ettiquette demanded she submit to, but personal pride and a fair amount of resentment about her creation would never allow her to do such. She was more bitter now than she often was. She liked Kestral, and didnt like the concept of another moving in to take his place, even temporarily.

"Mizuho?"
"Yes, Mikomi?"
"YSS Kyuseki Teien also arrived, with the Azalea."
"Then Yui has given me the ship. How gracious of her. Maybe whoring school didnt turn her all bad."

This was said in significantly better humor than her prior assaults at Yui's innocence had been. She herself was celibate, an odd thing among Neko, particularly Neko nearly two decades in age. She sighed.

"Where might I find this Rufus Sydney?"

"Taisa Sydney is in the Captain's Quarters," the MEGAMI system replied to Mizuho. The doors would be locked, but it wasn't as if the new captain was going to ignore her.

Meanwhile in the quarters, Rufus was basking in the glow of Kotori's handiwork, pondering giving a romantically kiss this new Nekovalkyrja he'd just met. "You've made my day, girl," he grinned blissfully.

The neko dipped her head to rest her chin on his muscular shoulder. "Does that mean I still sleep on a bunk?" she asked, her golden eyes twinkling with mischief.

"There's room for two here," Rufus offered.

"Thank you, Mikomi." Mizuho yawned, slightly, and made her rather purposeful stride towards the captain's quarters. Where Rufus was, where Kestral should have been. She resented Rufus immensely simply for that fact. Upon reaching, she rapped at the door loudly, then alerted Rufus to her presence there in a more efficient way. Rapping at soundproof doors was a habit she had never quite abandoned.

"Chusa Mizuho Yukisato, oh captain, my captain." Her voice was laced with a bitter sarcasm. "I suppose I should inform you that I am here, but that I am leaving shortly."

She figured he already knew, but fully meant to waste some of the man's time. A sort of passive aggression at his replacing Kestral.

Coming out of the YSS Oniyuri, the 4'11" tall neko stepped into her new home. Her raven-black eyes surveyed the area inside the docking port calmly as she set both her duffle bags onto the floor. "Hmmm...it has been a while since I've been on a Nozomi-class," she spoke to herself in thought.

She wore the her standard uniform with the typical blue colored panel of a power armor pilot and her raven-black hair was kept at its usual boyish-trim. "Excuse me...Mikomi," she called upon the ship's AI. "Is there currently an officer available to greet us of the Confidence or can you just show us to our assigned quarters," she asked politely.

"Your quarters have not yet been permanently assigned, but you are welcome to a bunk in the Mindy Pilot Bay," the MEGAMI System replied, giving the girl a holographic arrow to follow.

Kotori raised her head, dispelling any blossoming fantasies and gave the man a light tap on the shoulder. "I'll handle this."

She got up and walked through the curtain, pulling it to a close and then heading for the door. She triggered the release to face the woman outside.

"Chusa Yukisato." Kotori nodded smartly. "Taisa Sydney is indisposed at the moment. Can I be of assistance?"

Taking the final bite of his apple Kato just lifted an eyebrow. "Nah I think I'll leave the cooking to you. If we get in trouble because of your mouth I don't think your conscience would allow me to help you. i mean it was YOUR mouth soooo I'm looking forward to the meal." Kato was smiling brightly and instead of leaving he found a seat and kicked his feet up on the table while folding his arms behind his head. "Please don't let my presence hold you up. I'm hopping for a great meal even if this guy makes us work out till our arms fall off."

"At least don't be a jerk about it, buddy. Gimme some suggestions here. What do YOU like to eat, other than apples? I'm thinking something along the lines of a classic Raltean meal. Lots of meats and potatoes and gravies. I can cook up one DAMN good Cutliety"

Tom took out some pots and pans.

"Ohhhh how about a stew as well? You can't go wrong with a stew!"

"Indisposed?" She smirked. "I'll be polite to you, love, and not treat you how I treat Yui. But only because I'm off this ship and wont have to deal with you. Just tell Rufus that I will be leaving very soon, now that Seion is here, even if he still calls it Kyuseki Teien. And tell him that he should probably find more of a challenge for himself."

With that, she turned away, not waiting for a response, simply walking back to her quarters to collect her belongings.

"I'm not being a jerk. You should have thought about your actions before you gone an blurted out over the intercom after not to long ago we blew up a ship. Now lets get off that topic and onto the food."

Placing a finger on his chin and nodding about the stew his expression took on a deep thought look. "Yeah Stews always good. And the new guy's definitely a Nep slightly big guy too so meat and potatoes sounds like a good bet.... but do you know any great desserts? Or maybe something a Nep would favor over the rest?"

The Geshrin nodded as he ran through the kitchen. "Don't you worry about desserts. I can make a fine vodka cake. Cake with a kick. It's the PERFECT compliment to the dinner I have in mind..."

"Two hours should be JUST enough time if I play my cards right. At least I should have everything cooking at a constant temperature so that after I get chewed out by my superior officer, I can skip right back here and finish up."

Tom pulled potatos, meats and eggs out, and some utensils and bowls to work with. He sectioned the kitchen so that every area had a purpose.

In all honesty, Tom enjoyed having an excuse to cook. It felt a lot like home, where he'd occasionally prepare meals for his hamlet's social occasions. And what better social occasion was there than a whole bunch of people showing up?

"Can you do me a favor and run to my bunk and grab a duffel bag in the corner? It has all my liquors in it, and I most definately need those. Do you have a clue how many people are going to be eating?"

Kotori gamely closed the door and turned back.

"Well, someone has an attitude problem." she commented as she crossed the curtain. She looked at her Taisa and reported : "Chusa Mizuho Yukisato reports that she will now disembark YSS Mikomi to board the Kyuseki Teien, which is apparently rechristined as the 'Seion'. She did not seem inclined to pay her respects at all."

If anything, she seemed unfazed by the other's hostility.

Taisa Sydney rolled over on the bed, revealing a broad, muscular chest lightly sprinkled with fuzzy brown hair and equipped with the phenomenal rack of abs that were one of the characteristics of Nepleslians with super-soldier genes in their family lines. "Well, I suppose that's a good thing," he chuckled. "I don't suppose I would've liked dealing with her anyway." Looking at an alarm clock near the side of the bed, he noted there was still an hour or so until the short inspection and then the dinner where he'd brief the crew on their potentially dangerous next mission. Looking into Kotori's eyes with a smile on his face, Rufus invited her back to the bed...

"Not a clue how many are going to show up. But just go with double then what you think left overs aren't a bad thing. I'll go get your liquor I guess but I get first dibs on it." Grinning widely Kato kicked his feet off the table and stood up and walked off. Casting a quick wave back to Tom as he left the wardroom he made his way to the males bunk room to find that duffel bag and maybe take a swig before he had to hand it over if there was some decent sake. Throwing the apple core in the air he quickly called out.

"MEGAMI dissolve apple core in mid air." As the core began its fall he watched it slowly dissolving from the bottom up rapidly with a smile. "Now if I can only replicate that into a projectile weapon..."

The black haired nekovalkyrja glided to the bed, but what she had to offer was but a warm but chaste kiss to his lips before she twirled out of his reach with an impish "Ha!".

She retreated beyond the curtains and bent to retrieve her bad. "I need to get ready for the coming inspection, Sir. Why not look over the personnel files in the meantime?" Rufus could hear Kotori's smile in her voice.

The door hissed open and her parting words were : "I'll see you later, my Taisa." Then they closed shut, leaving him alone with memories whom we're far from unpleasant.

( OoC : I took some liberties, but Wes made it plain this thread wasn't quite supposed to explore that kind of territory. )
