RP (non-canon): D&D Mission 1: Getting "Acquainted"

The wall was on Aurelus' right, but so was Sorri. The quarterling took a swing with all her might at the skeleton as it attacked Aurelus, then pulled her staff back and tapped the fighter to let him know she was down there.

"Careful!" She noticed his wind-up and backed up to stay out of range of his next attack, though, and prepared another strike of her own.

Denkou danced back out of the way of the skeleton's attack, not quite managing to avoid getting tagged by the humanoid-thingy. Not quite sure of what that was, but sure that her sword would most likely be useless against something that couldn't bleed (especially since she wasn't all that strong), she swung for the thingamabob instead, reasoning that there was something to attack there, and hopefully it was something that she could hurt. "I could use a little help over here guys," was all she said, trying her best not to get hit again.

"Next time, I am going to prepare a few more offensive spells." Ghira grumbled as he skittered closer to the wall. Through the mental link, he commanded his snake to attack the nearest monster. Namely, the zombie.

Moogle's viper struck at the zombie sinking it's fangs into the zombie's neck, most certainly poisoning it. Denkou's shot to the blob resulted in a slash, direct across the center. Sorri's spinning blow at the skeleton resulted in a double-hit. Aurelus' shot on the skeleton missed greatly, but Talarin's magic missile scored a hit on Aurelus' blob.

--------------------

The zombie turned and swung at the little viper, slightly pissed about the bite to the neck, but missed. The blob next to Aurelus began attacking Talarin, lunging both claws at him, and hitting both times. The skeleton that Sorri had hit returned the favor, swinging an arm at Sorri, and hitting her in the shoulder. Both the blob and the skeleton next to Denkou swung, both of the missing.

Talarin groaned as he took the blow from the blob and crumpled to the floor. His last thought was, "What a pretty color." as he saw the light from the artifact before collapsing completely.

Aurelus growled at the incoming flesh blob that had managed to fell his friend. Seeing the blob had no intention of stopping it's assault, Aurelus decided to send his sword slashing from above his head straight down to the creature's head. "AARRRRGHHHH!!!"

He hoped the spell Talarin had used on the undead creature before getting knocked out would have caused enough damage to fill in for whatever small strike Aurelus would make on it. If things got any worse, they would have to retreat down the stairs...

Sorri winced at the strike that bruised her shoulder pretty badly, almost knocking it out of socket, but remained standing.

She barely noticed that Talarin had been taken out of the fight, only that Aurelus was moving away from her.

It's just bones! Smash it!

She attempted to stick the end of her staff through the skeleton's ribcage, intending to use her staff as a lever and fling the skeleton across the room. It was bones...most of the weight of a human was made of the flesh, it should be light enough. If she didn't get a chance to, though, she would take more swings at the skeleton.

Still moving a bit stiffly from the creatures first hit, Denkou nonetheless managed to dodge both the attacks of the skeleton and the thingy, and score a hit of her own in the process. Cheering mentally, she kept it up, going for the humanoid again. If I can at least get it down, then I can handle the skeleton somehow. I REALLY hope this thing isn't too tough.

Sorri's attack on the skeleton was a slight success, managing to get the staff into the ribs, but when she went to throw it she only managed to drive the skeleton into the ground, doing minor damage. Aurelus' attack was a complete miss, as did Denkou's

Joanna, seeing her fallen partner and companion, dove at the humanoid, clawing at its face, and tearing what was left of it to shreds, leaving globs of molten flesh all over.

Ghira commanded his snake to continue biting the zombie, as suffocation wasn't really an option. Joining it in combat, he stepped forward and attempted to sweep it off its feet with a low blow of his staff.

Denkou kept right at it. No point in wasting time trying to run away at this point, it sounded like the group had problems of their own. Might as well keep going and hope that they would hurry up and come help, so she kept swinging.

Both Ghira's and the snake's attacks missed. The zombie continued to attack Aurelus, yet still missing. One of the skeletons took another swing at Sorri, also missing. Both the humanoid and the skeleton next to Denkou swung, the skeleton missing but the humanoid hitting with one of its claws.

When Denkou swung back at the humanoid, he too missed.

Sorri dodged the return attacks as best she could, disappointed at the effect of her attempt. Removing her staff from the skeleton's ribs, she resumed swinging at the skeleton, all her energy focused on beating the unnatural thing into the floor and back into the ground it may have come from.

Joanna looked around after killing the blob that felled her closest companion. She saw Denkou being attacked by the skeleton and the humanoid. Surpressing her animal instinct to flee from these abominations of nature, Joanna rushed in to leap at and attack the humanoid.

Denkou staggered a bit, not much fight left in her at this point. She breathed a little sigh of relief when Joanna came to help, but was confused when the familiar wasn't followed by her master. Nonetheless, any help was better than no help, and she wasn't complaining, regardless of the nature of it. That said, she went for the humanoid alongside Joanna, trying to just take the damn thing down. One on one was much easier to work with.

Ghira commanded his snake to continue attacking the zombie, but switched his own attacks to the skeleton instead. After all, sharp things went through a skeleton's ribs but blunt things smashed them, while sharp things rip apart flesh when blunt objects only bruise.

Sorri's attack flailed into a huge miss, coming inches from hitting Ghira as he came to assist her. Joanna's attacks missed as well as she claws at the humanoid blob. However, Denkou's short sword came down upon the blob, slicing it to pieces with a screech of pain. When Ghira struck at the he narrowly hit, scraping down its side. The snake dove at the skeleton, biting at what was now the second creature's neck, and completely severing the head. The rest of the body then crumpled to the ground, following the head.

"Mender! Talarin's in bad shape! I'll secure ye a spot aroun' him tha ye may heal him, aye!?

C'MON YE MANGY DEAD BASTERD!"

Aurelus noticed things were turning on their luck was having a very sudden improvement, and continued to attack the zombie that had attempted to attack him, hoping to bring the enemy's numbers down further, and to secure an area around Talarin that he may secure Talarin's revival.

"EH?!"

Sorri didn't even try to look away from her opponent, but she wanted to so very much. Instead, she swung again.

"I...I can't get away, and this thing isn't dropping!"

Aurelus came down with one final mighty blow, slicing clear across the zombie, cutting through the bone so the blade came out the other side. The two halves of the zombie fell to the ground. This meant that over half the creatures had fallen, and only left the two that were still concentrating on Denkou.

Sorri's attack swung at the skeleton, missing where the now destroyed skeleton had previously been, but managing to hit one of the destroyed pieces as it fell to the ground.

---------------------

The skeleton swung at Denkou as it watched its comrade fall, missing terribly.
