"Thank you," Hanako told Sune.

Captain's Cabin

After returning to her room, Taisa Hanako stripped off her gear and clothing, peed, and then took a shower in the tiny private washroom. As she washed her hair she marveled at how long it had grown in the years since she had taken command of this gunship. She decided she'd start wearing it down. It would look more mature, perhaps. These were serious times and being a captain was a very serious job; the death toll of her recent missions made it more obvious than ever. To that end, Hanako also figured she would at least cut back on her girlish short pleated skirts and switch to something more sober; a pair of light blue-gray leggings would suffice.

After a thorough scrubbing and rinse, Hanako dried herself off and stepped out of the bathroom and slipped on a white hakama robe that was once standard-issue years ago before returning to the mirror to style her hair.

Kiko looked up the location of the Medbay and led Sukeharu there. If they got there without incident, she bowed, saluted, and said to someone who didn't look busy, "Sukeharu-san here needs to be screened."

Just outside the medbay
One of the survivors had just been escorted there, but the help in the bay must have been too busy to notice. The dirty kid looked around the room from where he stood behind Kiko, pieces of mud forming a faint trail behind him leading back to the shuttle. This place was very, very clean, he noticed, and there were unfamiliar sounds here. He peered around Kiko, then quickly backed out of the way as someone arrived.

Sukeharu watched the procedure with curiosity, up until the medic mentioned "injections", triggering a memory. Hyposprays weren't usually painful. Not unless they were poorly calibrated and didn't quite get the "spray" part up to speed. Cheap doctors, regardless of best intentions, didn't know any better.

And it wasn't just the burn of the malfunctioning injectors, it was the itchy, crawling feeling that came afterward. Everyone said that nanites couldn't be felt, being so small. But so what if they said it was his imagination? He felt it, that's all he knew.

The device hissed and Sukeharu flinched, then backed up, glaring in the direction of the medbay. "No hissing...no hissing, leave alone," he muttered.
 
Sune heard a soft sound, almost whimper like. He looked out the medbay door and saw what could only be the third survivor.

He walked to the doorway to get a closer look at the individual. Too small to be an adult, he could not help but wonder how a child survived on HX-13.

He smiled at the young person, unsure of gender due to the mud and other detritus. "Hello there, I have been expecting you. My name is Jalen Sune. Sounds like you do not like hyposprays. Well, we can take care you examination with out one, it will just take a bit longer." he said in a soft reassuring tone.

"What do you say about we getting you cleaned up a bit and then we can get your examination done. We can use one of the Hemosynth tubes to rinse you off and I will get you some scrubs to wear until we can get you to the Ikoi." He said stepping back into the medbay.
 
Yaichiro couldn't help but wonder why the smell of the plums was getting straight to his nostrils in spite of the steam and the air circulation. He tried modulating the air circulation slightly, in hopes she wouldn't notice, but its effects were already happening...

Born as a flawed ST clone, Yaichiro had a malfunctioning sense of taste and smell which had never been repaired. Normally he could not detect anything except the strongest tastes and odors, but certain sensations stimulated the wrong neurotransmitters. Thanks to these wires being crossed somewhere, he soon found himself trying to bathe while struggling to keep standing upright with the support of the shower stall's supports...all because of that blasted plum scent.
 
A quirked brow came from Helen, she had little idea that such a result would take place... though, she feigned innocence as she boldly strode over and touched upon Yaichiro's shoulder. "Mmm, are you alright, you look like you were losing your bala-" She trailed off before speaking "Oh my!" With that momentary exclamation she wondered if she would have to take him and her trickery elsewhere.
 
Kiko got out of the way and looked for something else that needed to be done. It didn't take her long to see the contents of the containment cells in the side room. If the notice she'd read on the way in was accurate, their location meant they were POWs, which was reinforced by their uniforms. Furthermore, the notice had included a general order to take initiative. Thus, she took up a post between the filled cells with her back to the wall.
 
T7 Shuttle

Mikael watched Kiko escort Sukeharu out of the shuttle and towards the medbay. Once he lost sight of the two, he begun to search every nook and cranny of the shuttle in case something might have attached or snuck on board it. "Sure modern scanners these days should pick up just about everything, but you can never be too careful." he thought to himself.

Content that he didn't see anything completely out of the ordinary, he got up and brushed himself. He made his way towards the Medbay to check up on both his new comrade and the young boy they found. As he entered the passageway the entrance of the medbay was located, he saw no sign of Kiko, but he did see the boy and Sune.

"Ahhh, you will be in good hands Sukeharu-san" you Mikael said as he walked towards them and the entrance.
 
None of the terminology made sense to Sukeharu. "Hypospray"..."hemosynth"..."scrubs". The man was trying to sound reassuring, but they all did that. The doctors at the orphanage, the bullies on the street, and certain animals in the jungle. Act all nice, then catch you unawares, that's what they did.

He stayed where he was, standing there in his patchwork clothes, fingering the lines that he had tied around himself to keep the parachute material fastened to his back. Long hair that had formed into rudimentary dreadlocks (or simple tangles, it was difficult to tell) over the last year of no combs draped over the tied-up gravity-assisted atmospheric deceleration device. The 'chute seemed to be what he had patched his worn-out clothes with, seeing as it had several holes in it, mostly around the edges. The kid's black eyes were narrowed, feet set in place in a defiant stance. Just try to move me.

The other man, the one who had been in the shuttle, arrived. Mikhael got a sideways glance from the boy, but Sukeharu didn't take his eyes off Sune for more than the moment it took to identify Mikhael.

"Leave alone," he growled again, this time in a normal volume with an edge of growing aggression. What Sune heard earlier wasn't the soft whimper of a scared child that he thought it was. They could tranq him, but that probably wouldn't do anything for the boy's trust levels. Maybe a bribe...a good look at the scrawny kid might give someone ideas for ways of inducing cooperation...
 
Sune looked at the young person that stood before him. A young male from the sound of the voice.

He thought back to the memories of his life on the Bouken for ideas on how to deal with this individual.

"You look like you could be a little hungry. I know I am, but see I have a problem. I do not like to eat alone, and the Taisa who commands the Eucharis will not let me go get some food until I have finished my work. Right now that means we have to get you cleaned up and checked medically. So tell you what, as soon we get done, you can some with me and we will have lunch together. They have some really good food on the starbase. That way we both get something good to eat, and I do not have to eat alone. Last time I was here they had the most wonderful sundae." Sune said looking away from the young man. "But if you are not hungry then I guess we can just both stay here stuck on the ship while the others get to eat." he said as he walked over to a chair and sat.
 
The ship lurched slightly as the station's robotic repair arms began removing modular armor pieces. Outside the ship, a KFY repair team began disconnecting the heavily damaged starboard aux engine. Meanwhile, another team was working on the area around the bridge passageway, removing the destroyed escape pod there and preparing it for a new one.

Captain's Cabin

Hanako sent a text to the two infantry soldiers: "Transfer both NMX neko prisoners to the station brig."

To Takeyu, she sent "Please replace blown out lights in the cargo bay."

Next, Hanako pulled up a volumetric window of the crew roster. "Time for some promotions..."
 
Mikael as was standing in the passageway, he looked down at his communicator when he heard a low pitch tone coming from it. He grabbed it and and flipped it open to view his new text. "Transfer both NMX neko prisoners to the station brig." the text from Hanako said.

He quickly snapped the the communicator closed and put it into its belt pouch as he walked quickly into the Medbay. He saw Kiko standing guard over the two prisoners and walked over towards her.

He leaned towards her once he got close. "We got orders to move the prisoners to the station brig." He said at a half whisper to Kiko. "Once they are done medically here, we will take them one at a time."
 
Kiko nodded. That arrangement would make any fights resulting from an escape attempt suitably unfair. She sent a telepathic message to Mikael so they wouldn't be overheard planning. "I suggest we avoid passing through highly-populated areas during the transfer; Kinder-Shoi said that a number of the stations residents were NMX prisoners, and some of them may be more concerned with personal revenge than victory. Also, do you have a preference for walking ahead or behind the prisoner?"
 
Medbay

The man talked too much. Everyone talked too much. Why did they use so many words?

Sukeharu looked around when the words "food" and "eat" got through. But there was no food here. Confusion tinted the ten-year-old's frown. He was hungry...it had been a while since he last ate. He closed his eyes tight.

"Good food"..."finish work"..."here, stuck" More words were linking with his mostly-forgotten vocabulary. Stuck in the place without food until work was finished? Well, what did he need to do? The last person the man dealt with in here had sat down over there and...Sukeharu shook his head, glaring at the examination table. She had been 'bitten' by the hissing thing. His skin crawled just thinking about it.

"What work?" he asked finally, looking away from the examination table and back at Sune. "No hissing?"
 
With his hands on his face; he heard the orders from the Taisa. "Blown out lights?" he blinked and got up from the desk. He looked at his clothing, though still bloodied from his little ordeal, it wasn't like he was to concerned with cleaning himself up just yet.

Takeyu left the cabin behind; heading down the corridor to the cargo bay. Glancing about the bay he saw that there were quite a few lights that needed to be replaced. "Well, better lights than turrets, power coupling, converters, plasma feeds, plasma engines, main computer... at least putting a light bulb in won't result in a nasty shock," he smiled and walked over to a crate.

Charisma? Crate number for bulbs please, he asked and got the number. "Figures....." he grumbled as the crate was located on the other side of the cargo bay. He headed over, grabbing a ladder from anoher area of the bay and setting it up underneath one of the bay lights. He then opened up the crate, pulled out a light, looked over to make sure it wasn't damaged in anyway, then went to work.
 
Medbay

"No hissing. My job is to make sure you are ok. Then we can eat." Sine said pointing to the ABMU.
 
Captain's Cabin

Hanako removed her robe went back to her closet and looked inside with dismay. She had once owned so many beautiful outfits from the Empress' Palace and the finest shops of Kyoto; now her closet was almost empty and she did not even find the makings of a single fashionable outfit left. There was a nice sweater--a replacement for one she'd lost in the fire of a starship battle--but no skirt nor any civilian shoes to wear it with. For the first time in a while, Hanako started to really miss her old home at the palace and the times she had there with the royals Yui, Uesu, and Ayame...two of whom were now gone forever.

The golden-eyed Taisa ended up getting dressed in her uniform, carefully putting it on so as not to bother her hair too much. After checking herself in the mirror, she left her cabin and walked though the short passage to the empty bridge where she started looking over information on the UOC and the blackout it was experiencing.

Suddenly she looked up at her reflection in the control panel and stared at herself. "This war has destroyed my family, my possessions, my relationships, and the soft innocence that was part of who I am," she told herself. She had grown up so much since she joined the military and with her matured body and long hair and white panels she found herself almost wondering if she was staring at Yui in the mirror.
 
Medbay

Sukeharu looked at Sune, then at the AMBU. As a unit, the examination table was a rather intimidating machine. But he was hungry, and hadn't seen anything that resembled food since he'd gotten into the shuttle.

The boy slowly walked over to the table, watching Sune carefully while trying to track Mikael and Kiko at the same time. The man was whispering over there, and that bothered Sukeharu a bit.

After a while, and maintaining much caution, Sukeharu made it to the table and got up onto it, eying the attachments.
 
Medbay

Sune told the ABMU to start. "Just relax, young man. There will be no hissing and no pain. Sune was telepathically sending a variety of command in order to deal with the psychological status of his patient.

For this patient Sune added a number of additional recommendations, locating any surviving family, education, and therapy.

Once the unit completed the examination, the arms all tucked neatly back up. "All done as promised, no hissing. We can go eat now unless you want to get cleaned up first."
 


He looked over to Sukeharu after he caught the boy briefly looking at them. He walked over to the two and handed the boy the receipt he had gotten for his to go order. "I am not sure if Sukeharu-san is a fan of fish, but I have an order of Lemon Pepper Tilapia I was going to pick up later. Just will likely need to be re-heated if they don't whip up a new order, Sune-Shoi."
 
Kiko nodded at Sukeharu to acknowledge his attention.

If everything she was taught about the NMX in Basic was accurate, infesting their own soldiers would be entirely in keeping with their doctrine.
