Cargobay

"That outta do it," said Takeyu as he finished putting in the last bulb and turned the lights on, enveloping the bay in light. With a smile he took the ladder down and placed it back against the wall, then walked over to the crate and picked up a small box full of bulbs.

Leaving the bay behind, he walked down the corridor, looking for blown out lights that needed to be fixed and soon found a few. Removing the transperent panel, he removed the broken light and replaced it with a new one. But when he turned the light on, nothing happened.

"Great," he said as he removed the ceiling panel to see what the problem was. Ruggaging through it, he soon discovered a sparking wire, not missing a beat he removed a dispenser from his belt that he had on him and had Charisma briefly reduce power to the wire so he could patch it up. After a few, and with the wire patched up, he had power restored and the light came back on.

Takeyu made one final check, then put the panel back in place. He placed a note in the system, to have that length of wire replaced at some point but that it was a low priority due to it not being connected to any vital systems.

As he neared medical, he checked his bulbs and found he had a few more left. "Guess I'll check medical, who knows," he said and walked into medical and began to look around.

"Shoi, do you need anything fixed in here or replaced?" he asked while looking around for broken fixtures or things that needed fixing, not noticing the child or anyone else as his mind was to focused on his job.

"No, they have not been screened," Sune replied to Kiko. "The station should be able to screen them, though."

"Yes, Sune-Shoi," Kiko replied, keeping her unhappiness out of her telepathic "voice". Once Sune was done with the boy, she followed the plan that she and Mikael had worked out, though she did watch the prisoners suspiciously for signs of parasite infestation.

Sukeharu's name turned up no one that wasn't already accounted for in the database except for a note in the manifest of the Freedom, as one of the orphans being evacuated.

The boy sat up when the table finished, not sure what had gone on. Sune had looked like something was going to happen...then nothing happened. He looked over at Mikael, who offered a piece of paper that Sukeharu took and looked at. Some of the symbols on it were familiar and he vaguely remembered stuff like this, but he didn't know what to use it for. Who did he give it to?

At Sune's assurance, he dropped off the table to stand on the floor, a few more crumbs of dirt scattering around him. Mud had been the best defense he had available against thermals, and he had a goodly amount on him still even after most of it had dried and fallen off while moving around on the shuttle. The word "clean" sparked his interest, though.

"Water?" he asked, looking sideways at Sune. The boy's head still tilted down when he looked at or spoke to anyone. He didn't seem as suspicious of everyone now, so it didn't seem to be an aggressive posture on its own, more likely a habit picked up on the hostile world.

Kiko found that the Neko prisoners appeared to be normal Nekovalkyrja normally, and they quietly obeyed his directions, although they seemed unsure what would happen to them next. When they reached the station's brig area, some of the starbase's soldiers there had the nekos strip naked and then gave them pink yukatas before putting them in a holding cell.

"Is there anything you needed to ask them or the other NMX neko before you go?" the brig's chief asked Mikael and Kiko. Now was their chance to learn a little more about the enemy.

Kiko was about to leave to find something else to do, but the brig chief's invitation gave her an excuse to ask the question that had been on her mind. Still, she veiled it, hoping to avoid word of her doubts ever getting to a victim of the NMX if the stories were true. "Just what were you expecting to happen to you when you got here?"

"Are you asking me?" one of the three neko prisoners asked, looking a little confused. "I was not sure what to expect. I know Yamatai has laws that protect the rights of cooperative prisoners but I was worried about some sort of interrogation. Also I worry about how long we may be in a cell and if we will ever be released."

Moving the two prisoners proved less hectic then Mikael had expected. He surpressed the urge to pat the last prisoner on the head and say "Good Kitty" when they arrived at the station's brig. He was about to salute and leave when the Brig chief asked if they had any questions.

"Just what were you expecting to happen to you when you got here?" Kiko had asked before he could open his mouth. The only thing relevent he got out of the prisoner's answer was the word interrogation. He looked at the Brig chief.

"How much time do we have?" Mikael asked with his arms across his chest, partially trying to figure out questions he might think relevent for the crew to know.

"As long as you need," said brig chief Mochizuki Shoko. The Santรด Heisho was a well-built peach-skinned NH-27 military police officer with droopy teal eyes and odango-style reddish brown hair that is dressed in a slighty dirty Type 31 Field Uniform and equipped with a Type 27 NSP and a Type 22 Survival Knife.

"Can we have our panties back at least?" one of the nekos they'd brought asked. "This bench is cold."

"Sorry about that." Shoko signaled one of the other nekos (also dressed in the field uniform with body armor) to return their undergarments, and the captives put them on.

Kiko raised an eyebrow. "Protect you from what?" she asked. She wasn't able to make her question sound innocent, but her poker face was as good as ever. She suppressed an urge to suggest the prisoners get new underwear; the guards would have noticed any weapons concealed in the ones they'd been wearing, and suggesting otherwise would have been insulting. She looked away while they changed.

"Mistreatment," the the NMX technician vaguely answered, raising an eyebrow.

"What sort of mistreatment?" she asked. If the prisoner kept being evasive, Kiko gave up. Despite her ears, staying curious wouldn't kill her. "Never mind," she said, and waited for Mikael to ask his questions.

Mikael still had his arms across his chest while his fellow infantryman questioned the three prisoners. When he sensed that she was done with them, he dropped his arms and tried to put on a more neutral and professional stance towards the three.

"Before your captures, what positions did each of you hold?" Mikael asked in a calm voice. Before he could even dream of possibly finding something useful, he needed to know that much about them.

"We are starship technicians," the NMX neko answered.

"Prisoner management," the one who'd been picked up at Sbuhfaba said.

Mikael noticed that only two of the three answered his question. "Seems like she is the dominate of the two possibly" he thought to himself about the NMX neko technician. "Will have to make a note to tell a SAINT agent that." But the other neko interested him the most for the moment.

He turned slightly more towards the Prison Management Neko more and pretended to ignore the other two. "How high were you within Prison Management?" Mikael said in his neutral voice again. Suppressing his natural Nepselian tendencies were becoming easier for him.

Sune noted the subtle change in Sukeharu's demeanor. "If you would like to clean up before we eat, I can make arrangements for you to get a bath or a shower if you like. But the decision is up to you." He then sent a query to Charisma about the status of the ship's crew facilities.

"Tell you what, the ship's facilities are unavailalble. But we can get you a room to stay in on the station for now, and it will have a private area where you can clean up. And perhaps we can find you some better clothes while we are at it." he suggested to the young man. "Then we can see about getting you some food."

While Sune waited he sent a message to Charisma for Hanako.

Ma'am, I was wondering if you would like to meet for dinner this evening. I plan on taking advantage of the Starbase facilities to do a little shopping, and then will be free.

Takeyu waited patiently for a response to his question, but aware that the Shoi either didn't hear him or was concentrating to much on his current task, he decided to just do his job as a tech and look for things that needed to either be replaced, or repaired.

He found some work, with the wall panels appearing out of place, he removed one to find some damaged circuity behind it. Pulling his tools, he started going to work, he also noted the few broken bulbs in the room that could do with a replacement after he was done.

Sune looked up from his charge at Takeyu, "Hello Nayacesen-Hei, sorry I was busy tending to our most recent guest.

Other than needing some cleaning and straightening up, the Medical Bay appears to have come through the hostilities without any damage. I appreciate your asking. Before I leave I will be having the AMTC units commence a self-cleaning and a diagnostic. I will have them notify you if any discrepancies are detect." he said.

Takeyu nodded and finished up his work quickly. "No problem sir, and thank you, I shall take my leave then," he said and picked up his tools and left the medical bay.

As he moved down the corridor, he tapped his chin thoughtfully before heading back to the cargobay and putting the bulbs away and making a note of how many he had taken.

With that he decided to see if there was anything on the Eucharis he could do, such as assisting with repairs, otherwise he'd head off to take care of some business of his own.
